That's why I started my costume shop. And I know what you’re thinking: Geez, Bee, a free three-story building in the middle of LA is obviously going to have a major catch.
You know what I expected? Maybe some wonky plumbing, bad neighbors… a few ghosts, even.
I didn’t expect a portal to a monster-god prison would be in the basement.
Or that I’d be seduced by shadows. And after they bring me pleasure I’ll never be able to recreate, they drop the real catch: The monsters are breaking out.
Wait 'til you hear how I'm supposed to fix it.
Enthralled by Shadows is a short 9k-word prequel to Sacrificed to Monster Gods, a 13-part mostly-standalone erotic monster romance series. The story of Bee and Nothing will be completed in the final book.
A California native, Latrexa has always seen the weird in the world and seeks to share their outright lust for the strange and unusual. Their hobbies include sculpting unnatural horrors and running from their inner demons. Latrexa writes for the weirdos, heavily featuring darkness and off-beat humor.
NGL I’m a lil confused after this book, especially since the blurb says each story is stand alone-ish. I still don’t know what kind of monster Bee was getting it on with.
I can see myself going down the rabbit hole for this book series! I can't say what I want to say, but just know this little quick, easy novella prequel has a good setup for the main books.
This prequel novella was slightly creepy, filled with tension, and steamy. Bee is finally at a good place in her life. She can’t believe her luck when someone invests and helps her get a shop set up for her costumes and masks. Opening her shop in LA just before Halloween is perfect and she is beyond thrilled. One night she sees a cat go down to the basement. Bee tries to find the cat to help it out but instead she finds something a bit more monstrous. A shadow monster saves her from getting hurt and then brings her the most pleasure she has ever felt. The monster then informs her that she has allowed the Gods access to the human world. Now she must provide willing sacrifices to the Gods so that they don’t ruin the world we know. Bee now plans to seduce the shadow monster she named Nothing and find other humans that might be interested in monstrous Gods. Bee was a fun and spunky character. I loved that she eventually gave in to what she was feeling even though it was an unbelievable situation. Nothing is a monster hidden in the shadows. They do have a physical body but use shadows as well. They are mysterious, alluring, and sexy. This super short story was suspenseful and titillating. It was the perfect introduction to this series where humans court the Gods.
This is a slightly frightening story of a woman, Bee, who finally gets a warehouse location for her costume store, only to go exploring in the basement and being confronted by a being she calls Nothing. Nothing speaks rather cryptically to her about opening a door and the gods that will want to get out at Halloween when the veil is the thinnest. In punishment for her opening of the door, Nothing makes her act as a matchmaker for the gods by finding willing sacrifices.
This is a prequel to a series that will involve these couples pairings as orchestrated by Bee and Nothing. There is a bound to be a slew of erotic scenes in these stories as there was a pretty intense scene in this short story that was very detailed in it's descriptions and left me yearning to read more of what Nothing can do with it's hands and tongue.
Can't wait to read each installment of this series as it's released in the weeks leading up to Halloween. Probably the first time I've ever wished away the summer.
I originally considered giving this a lower rating because nothing much happened. But after some thought I had to take into consideration this is entire short story is a prologue to an entire series and its purpose is to explain how our future main characters find themselves at a ball courting GODS.
In that case, then YES, this story provided the needed details regardless of its own lack of excitement and action.
This was ominous and slow. Our FMC Bee has a few witty lines and Chapter 5 features an intriguing sex scene with a shadow and its tongue.
I'm curious to see how the rest of the series goes down.
This book surprised me a lot, I have enjoyed it quite a bit. At the beginning it has a lot of spooky vibes, I felt Bee's tension of fear in the darkness of the basement. Speaking of tension, the one that Bee and Nothing immediately have🔥 And the plot, Bee has to look for mates for the Monster-Gods that she has accidentally let "escape", it's interesting.
MAJOR CLIFFHANGER. I had read in the synopsis: it's a prequel and the story of these characters will be completed in the final book and I still expected an ending, my fault. Now I have to read the other books🤭
You read for spooky season? Of course, you are - it's well into August.
Halloween is just around the corner and Latrexa Nova is back with another Halloween series, this time about ancient monstrous gods... And they want to be worshipped. And maybe return the favour now and again.
This is the prequel to a 13-part series, it's less than 50 pages, and it's free. So if you're interested in some spicy God action, absolutely check it out and strap in.
This quick read follows a costume shop owner who travels to a basement in her new shop. There is where the adventure begins and I swear leaves you on the edge of your seat. It gets a bit steamy down there and now all I want is more. This quick read has a drop off that leaves me looking for when the next installment will be. Talk about leaves you wanting more, ugh!
Boy of boy did this book intrigue me! Bee and Nothing, in just a short amount of time, made me crave more. Desire to see behind the curtain that is the elusive Gods. I can’t wait to see where this story goes as Bee gathers the willing participants.
Such a great little introduction to this series. I’m hooked! Can’t wait for what’s to come next, love a good monster romance matchmaking. Hopefully bee will get her hea eventually
This started with a bang and a great story that draws the reader in with an intense creepiness and a little spice thrown in, this is either going to be an incredible series or a terrible busy but I’m hoping for the incredible!
Short read, a little weird, but also spicy towards the end. The ending just kinda drops off… because it’s done in installments and you gotta read the next short story…
Enthralled by the Shadows is the perfect novella to introduce the world of Latrexa's 13-part monster romance series. It was fun, spicy, and definitely makes me want to dive into the rest of the series!
