This is my favorite book in the series so far!! The pace has picked up so much since the earlier books. Things were happening nonstop and it was impossible to put down. So far, I think the “part two” books have been the strongest in the series. There’s so many layers that have been added, truly creating such a wonderful, complex world.
We met so many new characters in this installment that I LOVE!! Monsoon and the Ashes were wonderful, and I love how the author gives each side character their own unique personality. And now I can’t wait to see how the relationship between Monsoon and Solia repairs/develops.
There were so many times in this book that I was on the edge of my seat absolutely STRESSED about what was going to happen. Cassia and Lio being separated not once but TWICE had my anxiety skyrocketing. The new threat in the Empire made things so much more dangerous for these characters, and the stakes are so high.
The emotions were high in this book. Cassia finally meeting her mom had me in TEARS!! And the sisters finally reuniting after 15 years?? SOBBING. This series does such a wonderful job at exploring different types of love—romantic, sisterly, platonic, familial, and self. You can really tell how much all of the characters love one another on a really deep level.
The character development in this series is so good. Cassia and Lio are both totally different people than they were in book one. Cassia has had a beautiful journey to self love and she finally discovered her powers!! I’m looking forward to when she finally becomes a Hesperine.
The plot twists in this installment were so good and fully surprised me. My jaw kept hitting the floor. I’ve already started the next book so I’m going to return to it because I’m absolutely obsessed with this series

Ancient society, forgotten magic and secrets.

The culmination of all their searching is coming to an end. They are close to following Solia's footsteps. But can they follow her to prison? How will they save her when they don't even know where she is?

The stories Cassia hears about her beloved sister, Sunburn, is nothing like she imagined. She knew how brace and courageous her sister is, but she has never known her to wield a sword. On top of all that, Cassia needs to understand what Broken Stones want with her, and why they think Old Master is still lurking inside her head, trying to force his way into the Empire through her.

In her lowest moment, she is visited by the spirits of her ancestors. Through them she finds out just how strong her line is. She is descended from powerful sorceresses with ancient Lustra magic, her mother included. Unlike the gossips at court, turns out her mother was actually a powerful mage at the Temple of Kyria in Cordium, and the only reason she left with Lucis is because ancient, rare, and powerful magic has awoken in her and she was no longer safe there.

With the help of their magic, Cassia escapes and comes to the court of the Empress. But where is Solia? Still in prison? Or was she there the entire time, looking for Cassia, as well as being looked for.

I KNEW IT!! I just knew Solia was alive, even still in book three, and I just knew it was Solia the entire time in the Blood Union. I am heartbroken to find out next book is coming out soon, because I don't know if I can wait to find out what their decision will be.

This whole series was way too long. Book 1 was fantastic and I was excited to read more, but books 2,3 and 4 ( and some of 5) could have been condensed into one book. What even happened in any of those books?? NOTHING????? The main plot points could have been one book long and still continued the story. I enjoyed where the story went in Blood Union and I LOVE some of the new characters, but I feel like it’s just dragging on and there’s ANOTHER BOOK COMING.

Spoilers - I’m so mad it has taken Cassia SIX BOOKS to truly discover her power, I feel like this series could have been so much more exciting if she could have recognized them earlier on and spent the time being a badass with cool powers, training with Lio and the rest of her pals. I’m so over the whole “bleh I’m a weak human but I’m strong but I’m so weak.” And I understand, sometimes the point is that you can still be a strong character without cool powers but CLEARLY she has them so why have we had to wait SIX BOOKS TO SEE THEMM.

Anyways. Rant over, book 1 was like a 9/10 for me the rest of it was a waste of my time minus Blood Union part two when all the new characters get introduced. I had such high hopes. WHAT. A. SHAME.

Blood Union Part Two is another engrossing and intriguing addition to the Blood Grace series. I loved it! Cassia and Lio go on an epic journey as she avoids arrest, searches for clues about her sister, meets new enemies and allies, and more. It’s exciting and suspenseful, and there are so many surprising twists and revelations that I didn’t expect.

Cassia and Lio have a love story even more epic than the journey they go on. Steamy, sexy, and sweet, their romance is incredible. This is a couple that would do absolutely anything for each other, and they stand by each other no matter what. They fight for each other so hard, and the depth of their bond is unquestionable. I love their romance. They have the most wonderful partnership, and the way they feel about each other is swoon-worthy. (The way they show each other is too! lol)

Though Cassia and Lio have been in a relationship for a while now, they still go through their share of trials and tribulations. The story shows the couple growing together and learning more and more about each other, whether they are together or apart. Their romance is the epitome of finding your soul mate.

At one point in the story, Cassia says that she could fill a page with the different words for love, and I think that is shown so well throughout this book and series. Sisterly love, familial love, romantic love, friendships, and more are explored deeply and beautifully. I feel like the idea that we love in so many ways with so many different people and connections in our life is really powerful, and it’s something that Cassia realizes as she forges new relationships and works to reconnect with her sister.

Speaking of new relationships, there are several new characters introduced in this book, and they’re fantastic. I feel like the secondary characters are as layered and interesting as Cassia and Lio, and I became invested in their stories and journeys too. It’s also interesting how these characters impact Cassia and Lio as they try to find Cassia’s sister and how Cassia and Lio find allies in some very unexpected places.

Cassia also learns some really shocking things about herself, her ancestry, her sister, and more. I was so surprised at some of the revelations, and there are a few climactic scenes that I was so excited to read! I’ve been waiting for a couple of things to happen, and they finally did, and they were amazing and everything I hoped for! Now I’m curious to see what Cassia’s next moves are going to be.

Something else I love about the series is that the world is always growing. Cassia is a fugitive, and she is desperate to find her sister. Both of these things lead her and Lio to a dangerous desert where she’s confronted with a new magic and dangers. It’s intense and suspenseful, and it takes the story in several unexpected directions and places. Each new location is richly described, and the descriptions are so vivid. And if you love Orthos, have no fear! We get Mak’s point-of-view in this book and see what’s happening politically and with the families. I love Mak and Lyros (definitely another favorite romance in the series), and it is interesting to see what Mak and others are doing in Orthros while Cassia and Lio are away.

This is a fantastic addition to the series and definitely one of my favorites. So much happened, and the addition of different magic and magic beings (love it!), as well as the exploration of relationships, old and new, is unbelievably engrossing. I couldn’t wait to find out if Cassia would get captured, if Lio would give up his role as a diplomat to protect Cassia, and if they would find Solia. I found out all I wanted and so much more!

Thanks so much to Vela Roth for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Review: Things have gotten more interesting by the Tim j reached the end! I’m swirling so hard right now! I loved meeting the new characters in this book and I can’t wait to see more of them in the next book! Vela Roth can do no wrong if she wrote an entire chapter of Lio and Cassia going on a vacation or shopping I would have the time of my life! Its not done???

I’m beginning to chafe at all the details and “emotions” of this story. For sure, the turn of events have led to so many twists and turns but I have reached a point (can’t believe I’m saying this) that I wanted a more straightforward plot.

Don’t get me wrong i LOVE a good intrigue, politics and a bit of a mystery but this is like a Mexican and Korean soap opera had a baby, its too much for me.

I’m done with Lio and Cassia and honestly it was good having a different perspective seeing things from Mak just to have a palette cleanser on Cassia’s thoughts. I’ll probably park V. roth for now.

This is such a good series!! Extremely underrated and should be right up there hanging with the fantasy smut GOATS. The world building is so good I was never bored with all the different adventures, kingdoms and types of magic. Classic steamy romance that I was in NO way mad at… and bookmarked for reasons.. but with a solid plot that had twists I never saw coming. Loved those suspenseful surprises. Cassia is a strong female lead in a smart, political, schemey, vengeful way that I loved seeing her thought process and then felt the pride when her plans succeeded! Regardless if anyone else knew she was the hidden hand. LOVED IT.

“As if the man’s displeasure was a deadly threat, Knight cowered. Lio could scarcely believe the liegehound was on his belly instead of lashing out in defense of Cassia. ‘What have you done to our dog?’

Monsoon sighed. ‘He knows a more powerful predator when he meets one.’”

Grumpy, burly mercenary with eagle wings? Guys, I just want to make out with Monsoon a little.

Don't hate me... but combined review/rating of parts one and two? 3.5. I feel myself growing impatient with this series (just found out there's a 7th book due out later this year... and yes, I'm a masochist and added it to my TBR. But in my defense: I'm six books deep at this point and the tease for the HEA is real). I will say, I love that Lio and Cassia's actual union/wedding-esque ceremony is put on hold for a legit reason/plot point (notice I said "point" instead of "device") and that is the possibility that Solia, Cassia's older sister is actually alive. But... prepare for a ton of contradictions: a lot of part one felt like copy paste three and four (minus Lio's mother though. Don't really remember her having any presence or dialogue in these newer books). But I loved watching Lio and Cassia interact with Zoe. I can't wait for them to adopt their own children. But just as I was about to praise book one/five's opening with a Hesperine/vampire transformation happening early on instead of making us wait another thousand combined pages (Lookin' at you, Twilight), how happy everyone is for Lio and Cassia (It's actually treated as akin to a wedding/honeymoon, complete with Lio and his cousins constructing an elaborate bed for later, while Cassia is getting ready. And Cassia herself treats Lio to the sight of new lingerie that wouldn't feel out of place in a modern bridal trousseau), all that beautiful build-up is gone, and while I did enjoy the reason, I still felt cheated. A whole lot of meandering is going on these volumes, even with the added characters/desert trip in volume two. I'm kind of ready for this series/Lio and Cassia to finally get settled/happy. Another disappointing aspect was that these books kind of undermined the personal HEA for Cassia (at the end of volume 4, Lio asks if Cassia would be ok never returning to Tenebra, let the kingdom fall if it must, and just allow the two of them to be traveling diplomats). Instead, we're pulled back into Cassia's plight to be or not to be crowned queen of Tenebra via her deceased mother's wishes. And while in the end, she doesn't take it, it felt like a kitchen sink plot point. And all the added characters in volume two/book six weren't bad, they were just a lot to keep up with on top of what we already had. I'm hoping the next book I have by Vela Roth, which is a stand-alone prequel set in this same universe, will act as a palate cleanser, make me fall back in love with her writing/this world with more concise storytelling. Overall, not bad, just tedious at times.

Just so you (whoever you are) don't think I'm a complete pessimist... here are a few of my favorite quotes from vol. one/book five:

* Lio: "You were always a work of art, all on your own."
Cassia: "But I wasn't whole."
Lio: "Neither was I." (Roth, 201)

*Cassia: "So... My mind is a rock for your mind ward?"
Lio: "The most precious diamond."
Cassia: "Can I be an emerald instead?"
Lio: "Ah, do you prefer emeralds to diamonds? I'll remember that." (Roth, 379)

✨What to expect✨
-🌶️/5
-Mak's POV
-Journey/Adventure plot line
-Secrets, betrayals & reveals
-New friends
-Reunions

I struggled with this one. I was not expecting for Casia and Leo to be out and trapezing out in the wilderness like they did in this one, and I was not a fan of it. It felt like we could have meet people and encountered things differently and it would have made the story more succinct than how things were delivered in this book.

The fluff was still fluffing, but the overall plot was not my fave 🙃

i liked the plot of this book, but after 6 books i think the story is lagging. cassia is just NOW getting her powers after 6 BOOKS?? like that took waaay too long. but i’ll probably read the next book ;p

cassia finally got reunited with solia which was nice, but solia had a different idea of what would happen and now it seems like cassia is going to take the throne? i was happy with her and lio getting their quiet life with their family. so not sure how to feel about that.

also like, WHERE WAS THE COLLECTOR FOR THIS WHOLE BOOK???

so much happened in this book that i don't even know what to say. there were an unfortunate number of typos in the first ~150 pages, but i can't bring myself to dock a star for it because i loved the plot so much (even if i'm salty that cassia STILL isn't a hesperine). and several of my theories finally proved correct 🤙

I am so incredibly grateful I stuck it out with these books! It took a LONG time for things to start happening. I'm so glad I stuck around because these past couple books have been a wild ride!

I don't even know where to start. This was the first book where Lio bugged me. He was selfish and hid so much from Cassia. I was annoyed that he was hiding things even after they promised to always be honest with each other. I was also annoyed Cassia forgave him so easily. The boy deserved to be in the doghouse for at least a couple days. I guess when you literally need each other to survive you must make amends quickly. I'm glad he decided to keep being an ambassador.

This book moved at such a fast pace, which I truly appreciated but it was SO much information to take in. I couldn't keep all the new side characters straight and I ended up just giving up. I couldn't remember who was who and what power they possessed.

I didn't love the chapters from Mac perspective. I found myself wishing them away so I could get back to Lio and Cassia. I did enjoy his relationship with Lyros and Nike. Nike has some mysterious contact who is trying to help her find Methu. So far no luck. She also had a secret forge where her and Mac were making weapons. Mac dealt with a lot of self doubt but seemed to overcome it in this book.

I did love Monsoon (Tendeso), who was the secret prince. I also really loved that he was Solia's lover!! I can't believe she let him believe she was dead all these years. I wonder if they will ever have a reunion. I also wonder if Monsoon will ever be able to forgive her.

Cassia struggling with "the craving" maybe my favorite thing ever. It's so strange and creepy but the author finds a way to make it... sexy???

I've been spoiled till this point that all the books have been released. I don't know if I'll survive waiting a couple months for the next one. Especially because I have no idea how many books will be in this series! Will Cassia EVER be a Hesperian? What about Solia's plan to have her be queen? What is going to happen next!

*Summary*
Cassia and Lio travel to the empire in search of Solia. Cassia is suppose to be safe there because she is technically a citizen of Orthoros. But that falls apart very quickly. The first place they get to she meets a man named Dakk. They learn a pirate named Ziara was the one who first took Solia to the empire. After they speak with her a warrant is put out for Cassia's arrest. Ziara helps them flee.

Man too much happens to summarize.
Lio and Cassia make friends with a man who is known as Monsoon. He has eagle wings and is grumpy at first. It doesn't take long for him and Cassia to become friends. Lio takes longer. He used to be part of a group called the Ashes. They find out through the book that he was Solia's lover. She entered a battle and the winner got to ask one favor of the Empresses. She asked the Empresses for help to save her country. She was arrested and throne in jail. Monsoon tried to free her but never could.

Cassia and Lio join a band of mercenaries called "The Ashes". They are searching for their leader. There is a group called "The Broken Hands" or the "Rezayal". They are afraid of the Masters. Ancient beings who hold unimaginable powers. They believes Cassia is possessed by one of them. They find the leader of the Ashes Ukocha.

The broken hands kidnap Cassia. Lio works with all the people they've met along the way to convince the Empresses to help them get Cassia back. Lio is able to convince the Empresses to assist him in recovering Cassia.

Cassia is able to speak with her ancestors and meets her mother. She finds out her mother had 3 ancient magic affinities. Plants, Animals, and Sooth Saying. Cassia apparently will also have these abilities. Cassia is able to escape the bad guys. (Oh turns out Dakk was a bad dude.)

She returns to Lio. While Lio sleeps Cassia finds out the queens head guard has been Solia this whole time. She also discovers Solia is a fire mage. Solia had been working with Cassia's mother to put Cassia on the throne. Apparently her affinities prove she is the rightful heir. Cassia doesn't want that but it's literally what Solia has been sacrificing everything for. She was never actually arrested. She became the Empresses right hand to prove her loyalty so the Empresses would help her steal the throne for Cassia. No one knew. Not even her lover or the entire Ashe's crew.

The book ended with Cassia assuring Lio she will not take the throne.

Ashes Crew:
Ukocha: Leader, fire mage, has a daughter
Kella: The Ashes 2nd, well now leader since Ukocha retired.
Karege: Is Hespirine
Hoyefe: Is a mind mage and extremely powerful. Can do all sorts of illusions.
Tuura: Is the healer. Also I think a mind healer.
Kella: Lost legs in battle, rides a giant cat.

Beauty at its best, I can’t think of any better plot than this one. There is so much happening and every strike has its own significance. Every step is like a milestone. Every person they meet has a major role to play in Lio and Cassia’s life. My favourites are back in the sixth book of the Blood Grace series from the 5th book. It starts with the same point where it left off but with a lot of meaning to their journey. An unknown enemy awaits their arrival and is keen on playing them by how they tackle it is all I wanted to read.

Lio and Cassia together are a power to be reckoned with. We see so many new characters and they are all so sweet and fierce and play an important part in the entire story. The story is jam-packed with action, craving, making friends, and finding the truth. I adore how Vela writes and this book is completely next level. It feels like the story has come out from my dreams by itself and kept me glued to it. There were so many earned names that were unique like Monsoon, and Sunburn and I really liked the idea behind it.

As I say I love to have an overall picture of what’s happening at other places, so I wanted to know what’s happening in Orthros and I’m so happy that Vela delivered Mak’s side of the story. All the angles are detailed and described and help in understanding it well. Mak & Lyros are the sweetest ones can see. The eighth circle literally has some strong bonds. Politics is a skeptical thing and is used in a weary way against the cause.

I have a lot of things to say but don’t wanna spoil it for you. I’ll simply say it’s the best and a must-read. The plot is amazing, World building is detailed and we get to see Jinns. I want nothing more than Lio and Cassia to be happy.

I continue to be amazed at this series. Just when I think I know what is going to happen, Roth throws in a twist that has me shook! I’m still in awe of this massive and immersive world that has been created and I cannot wait to see what happens or where we will go in the next installment.

Lio and Cassia’s relationship continues to grow and change as they discover new things about each other and themselves. It feels like an organic evolution, and keeps the reader engaged, even after so many books. Roth is definitely a top tier author for me!

I tried to savor this book at times because I didn’t know when the next book was coming out, but most of the time I desperately needed to know what was going to happen next.

Between the last two books, Cassia and Lio got separated twice. TWICE. And they’ve got the craving to deal with. I was ecstatic to have them find the other Ashes along their way back to each other. And Monsoon telling Cassia about his relationship with Soleil made me cry and smile. He thinks of her as a little sister and called her by that endearment. I teared up.

I was beginning to wonder if Chuma’s mother was the same as the leader of the Ashes, and I was thrilled to learn she was. I was so happy to hear Soleli’s story. So happy to have my belief confirmed that there would be more books.

The reveal at the end of this book that Soleil was alive and had been there all along was a gut punch. I cried seeing the two of them reunite. I was wondering how long it would last though given the years between them, and the fact that it descended into arguing very quickly was a little disheartening but understandable. Lio meeting her and trying to figure out what to say also made me emotional.

I had thought that after being separated once, I had nothing more to worry about, but no. Once more, Cassia and Lio got separated, and she was taken by that motherfucker plotting to get the ear of the empress and destroy Tenebra.

Cassia’s attitude towards him and his grandmother during interrogation made me proud. However, one of the most memorable scenes in the series occurred in this book when Cassia got to have a conversation with her ancestors and meet her mother. I was a fucking mess the whole damn time. I started crying when she recognized her, and I cried all through her use of magic to escape and her detailed description of her flight as a bird and the loss of said magic. I am absolutely convinced that Cassia is going to knock out the towers that exist that keep magic out of Tenebra.

I am not sure what Soleil’s future holds since she wants to put Cassia on the throne, but Cassia doesn’t want that. She’s told Lio she’s Orthos’s, and that Soleil has to decide her future. I hope that she and Monsoon reconnect.

My hopes for future books are that I want to see Cassia destroy those towers blocking magic and the ancestors, and I want to see her become a Hesperine. I also want to see the Collector destroyed or whoever the mastermind is that they fought in Orthos. I think that those aren’t difficult asks given that Vela Roth seems very thorough in her plots. I am so so so excited for the next book, and I am making Cassia and Lio a spotify playlist to keep me thinking about them. Not going to lie, this by far the most mature vampire-like novels that I’ve read; the plot, politics, and world building are phenomenal; the characters are top tier, and the romance is amazing. It easily ranks in my top five vampire series/novels, EVEN THOUGH they’re not called vampires, they are essentially the same thing.

Shoutout to Lyros for making an earring so that Cassia can bite Lio without taking any of his blood.

Cassia won’t eat the jerky. I don’t know how else to say it. The camp is tense, everyone’s being hunted, the dried meat smells weird, and she’s out here requesting a cleaning spell for her mouth if she even touches it. Monsoon looks one second away from throwing her and the jerky into a spirit gate just to be free of the nonsense. Honestly, fair.

And yet somehow, between all that, this book delivers some of the most beautiful, grounded romance I’ve read in ages. Cassia and Lio’s bond is intense, but never shallow. Their moments together even the smallest ones are full of trust, care, and a deep emotional intimacy that makes their relationship feel earned. I really like their love story. It’s not just lust or banter or big declarations. It’s quiet support, shared purpose, mind magic tenderness, and the constant reminder that Cassia is still mortal, still human, and still the most powerful thing in Lio’s world.

Also, Cassia has had enough. She’s had enough of the lies, the king, the hunger, the identity-warping politics, and frankly, the sand. So when her ancestors step in and lend her their powers, she turns into a hawk and escapes. It’s glorious. It’s earned. It’s the ultimate middle finger to every person who’s underestimated her since birth.

Meanwhile, Monsoon remains the MVP of this entire journey. He’s sarcastic, exhausted, carrying everyone’s emotional baggage on his back, and somehow still showing up to save lives and drop wisdom. Oh, and surprise he’s secretly a prince. Of course he is. The man’s been giving “tired royal on sabbatical” energy this whole time and no one noticed.

And just when you think you’ve reached peak drama, Solia shows up. Cassia’s long lost sister, who everyone believed was rotting in a dungeon, is in fact an elite warrior serving the Empress. The scene where they reunite? Gutting. Fifteen years of silence, grief, and fear break apart in seconds. Solia is scarred, hardened, and carrying more secrets than Cassia knows what to do with but she came back. She trained, she sacrificed everything, and she returned for one reason: Cassia.

The political twists land hard. Cassia’s mother wasn’t a concubine she was a triple-affinity mage who loved her daughter fiercely and had a plan all along. The king isn’t just controlling, he’s a fire mage and a murderer who built his empire on lies. And through all of it, Cassia keeps surviving. Growing. Refusing to become anyone’s puppet.

By the end, she’s named an official diplomat. She gets her scroll, her cords, her medallion, all of it earned. She stands beside Lio not as a sidekick, but as an equal. She tells him, plainly, that she doesn’t bow to expectations. That she wasn’t born just to take the throne she was remade for something greater. And he doesn’t falter. He tells her, with full belief, that the world will never be the same.

TLDR - I have been utterly destroyed by this beauty -

This one really stepped it up! So much happened and it was an amazing journey. So many new characters and so many twists and turns! Honestly I think I’m slowly dying because I totally thought I was starting a completed series and here I am with the worst book hangover because this is entirely unfinished.

So our new side characters are to die for. I have decided I want like 2 different novellas plus the ones I wanted from the past books because I just cannot get over them. Ugh I’m just such a sucker for them all and they are just really making me fall in love with the found family trope.

This one was actually way more plot heavy and at first I was worried it was gonna be rushed because I couldn’t see how they’d wrap the series but I made a big ol fool of myself on that one didn’t I? This is the first of the books that’s actually shocked me. There were so many times things happened that I didn’t see coming but also plenty of times where I predicted stuff and it actually followed through! (I hate a failed gun on the table). This is definitely different from the previous books with just how much happened but it still managed to keep its slower pace at the start.

For romance we know I could die for these two. They are my otp and the way they still continue to grow 6 books later is just beyond me. We definitely still got our opened door and some very fun and cutesy moments within that. It definitely follows the same levels as the previous books so if you were comfy before you don’t have to sweat it got more or less (depending how you swing) spicy.

My summary is that I am going to die. I am notoriously horrible at keeping up with releases so I’m pretty sure I will forget to check for the next release of this beautiful series and it will chew me up inside indefinitely. This book had me laughing (just like the others) and sobbing. Please send me emotional support

Okay, this installment finally fed me.

In Blood Union Part 2, everything we’ve been slowly (painfully, sometimes) piecing together across the series finally starts to click into place. The biggest revelation, of course, is Cassia herself: a direct descendant of the Mage King and the Changing Queen, carrying not one, not two, but at least three magical affinities. Garden magic, Beast magic, and soothsaying — the last one making her a kind of mind-mage in her own right.

Honestly, between her gifts and Leo’s mind-healing, they’re starting to look like the too-perfect power couple. Their one “fight” didn’t even feel like a fight — I swear I blinked and it was resolved 😆.

This book gives long-awaited answers to so many lingering mysteries:

the truth about Cassia’s childhood,

what really happened to Solia,

why the villains have been obsessed with Cassia from the start,

and how all the scattered hints from previous books fit together.

It’s action-packed too — actual battles, new creatures, dangerous discoveries, and more political maneuvering. And then there’s Solia’s reveal… the reunion scene honestly made me tear up. But her return also introduces real tension, because she clearly has her own ideas for Cassia’s future, which won’t align with Cassia abandoning Tenebra forever to live her peaceful life in Orthros. That conflict is going to simmer.

The villain side is still murky — we don’t fully know their nature or allies — but we finally understand their fixation on Cassia. And with every book, the world-building gets richer. I mean, I’m on book six and still learning new things about the mage system, the continent’s history, and the political web.

Truly, this series deserves a screen adaptation. The scope, the magic, the dynasties, the slow-burn plot threads that take entire books to pay off — it would thrive as a TV series.

This installment earns a well-deserved 4 stars from me.
I honestly regret dragging my feet before starting it.

As the elegant and formidable continuation of Blood Mercy, this book exists as an exquisite  manifestation of our greatest hopes and desires for a world so beloved by enchanted hearts and inspired minds. The web, into which we have fallen, and in which we choose to remain, is spun with the silk of every well-written moment and the spell of every breathtaking vision; softly our minds exist, solely, for the story within these treasured pages, while our bodies sit compelled, our hands unable to let go of the masterpiece they hold.

Every promise of love, every determined effusion of stubborn hope, every expression of sorrow and joy in their most complete, was a beat of my hopeful heart. Vela Roth delivers yet another book that provides a profound sense of escapism that is total and ruthless in its embrace of the readers who journey alongside the Brave Gardener and her loyal Hesperine, as Power and Magic war with Love.

Cassia’s healing became an unexpected catalyst for my own. So complete was my emotional investment in this book that, by the end, my tears knew the pages just as well as I.

The gentility of Orthros, the magic of the Empire, and the abrasiveness of Tenebra meet together in this story as Lio and Cassia explore places, meet people, and uncover secrets that will change the course of their destiny.

Delivers, and then some.

I feel in love with this series in October of 2023. I devoured all of the books up to book 5, and then saw 3 more were planned. I was both excited and devastated. I decided to wait until the series was completed to continue. And God, was it worth every second, every minute of waiting. There’s just something about these characters, the plots, the revelations, that makes this story seem Alive. Rich with lore, plotting, and intense character development, there’s never a dull moment. I feel like everyone has a lesson to learn and a path to follow to find themselves and their destiny. Cassia and Lio are just absolutely beautiful. I love them together and individually. Unconditionally supportive, endlessly passionate, super sexy (without being over the top), they are my gold standard for fantasy love without the macho, alpha. The supporting cast is fantastic as well, and go through their own satisfying story arcs that adds so much depth that, again, the story feels real and alive. I can’t say enough about how much I love this series and these characters.

The story of Lio and Cassia has been a fantastic all consuming voyage of love, magic, heart pounding thrills and political treachery that I have endured along with our leads as now the circle closes on their epic adventure bringing everything they’ve struggled for to a highly resounding and epic conclusion.
There are still battles to be fought in Blood Union part two and with its beautifully written word painting the reader remains mesmerized by the scope and breadth of what is an out-standing tale well told.
Expertly crafted with a cadre of characters who light the pages with their goodness as well as evil intent, it goes without saying that this has been a truly engaging and immersive series and will in my opinion remain one of the best literary achievements in the realm of the Fantasy genre and deserves all of the accolades it should receive. May the Grace bond live long and prosper.
Highly Recommended!

I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the coolest series! I’m devastated to be nearing the end of what has been released so far. There is one more out right now, but it’s not on audible yet. I’ll find the time to read it, but then I’ll have to wait for the next one to be released 😩 I hate waiting! This series has everything, next level world building(like beyond fascinating), danger, battles, politics, magic, fun, romance, spice, top tier character development and a meticulously detailed plot. My gawd, I love it! The biggest objection I see in other reviews of this series is how slow paced it is. While I am a notoriously, impatient person, I cannot deny that the slow pace of this story has only made it better. Yes, the story could be cut down some, but it would take away from the character development and the detailed politics and intricate layers of feelings and frustrations and challenges going on. This series is killer! Take the time, settle in and enjoy the ride! ❤️❤️❤️

And if you prefer Audiobooks, the narrators are fantastic!!! They really help you get lost in the story ❤️

After a slower pace in book 5, this one was full of fast-paced adventure, a whole host of different characters and settings and a few jaw-dropping twists.

Lio and Cassia are on a mission to find her sister, Solia, while also struggling with the knowledge that Cassia is a wanted woman. With the help of the winged fighter, Monsoon, a charming young girl named Chuma and a group of fighters known as the Ashes, there was a lot of adventure in this story. I would have to point out that there is so much character growth and tough conversations. Vela Rose toned down the numerous chapters where Lio and Cassia love each other and had them tackle the challenging aspects of their relationship.

At the same time, chapters are focusing on the peace negotiations that are ongoing in the Hesperine court led by Maks. I have already stated in my reviews of books 4 and 5 that I do like that Vela Roth is not just focusing on Lio and Cassia, but taking us further into the world that she has built in this fantasy romance series.

On to book 7!
