Shit happens but at the arctic camp, it’s happening too much and too often for Egan. The mess from the scientist camp has left a pall over the training camp. And still there is no sign of Teegan, Mountain’s brother. The surrounding tundra has been gridded and searched but so far, nothing… except another body…

Berry’s sister convinced her to try a new experience and apply for this training camp with her. Except none of her training prepared her for what lay ahead. Being in close quarters and cooped up due to the ugly weather, several people struggle to stay calm and in control. When her sister shows a side of her personality she’d never seen before, she’s wondering what she can do to fix this, but was it even fixable?

And if she’d been taken in, how many other team members had been as well? And did it have anything to do with the nightmare happening right under their noses. Egan and Berry need to find out, before they become the next victims…

Talk about crazy central. This base in its frozen landscape is beyond whacked. There is so much going on in this place.

So far we’ve had a killer nurse named Joy stealing drugs, and then a psycho scientist called Anna trying to kill all of them at their camp.

Egan Crosok is sent in to help find the missing scientist and team. He immediately has a connection with Berry who is in training there alongside her twin sister Cherry.

A murdered Russian team member involved in some illegal activities lead to an investigation that is shocking.

There is just so much going on in this series and when one thing is solved something new comes up.

“I always get a creepy feeling that we’re being watched. There’s no reason for it, but it still doesn’t stop that sensation.”

I have to say this third book is the best story so far. Now I’m eagerly awaiting the next book.

Disturbing

The situation seems to go from bad to worse as Egan arrives on site, but the evidence he inadvertently uncovers is hauntingly disturbing. The thought that anyone can have such callous thoughts towards another human, never mind one so close to them is terrifying, to be so self centered and oblivious to the ramifications both for you but also the mental and physical health of those you target has the whole training camp once again on lockdown and has everyone questioning everything they thought they knew.
They may finally get some answers in this book, but the newest revelations add more questions and more pressure.
I am glad Berry has Egan for support as she is battered emotionally by blows that just keep coming, no reprieve and no real reasons why, just a sick twisted mind looking for an imagined revenge. A heartbreaking journey for her to have to take, thankfully she has Egan to lean on.
As twisted, scary and haunting as it is I really like this series and look forward to Barrett's book next.

What we know so far is that Teegan and some others are still missing, and Mountain is still looking for Teegan. The last of the scientists are also still missing, but Dr. Amelia can survive in these weather conditions. She's known to visit with the Inuit communities, but she usually keeps in contact better than this. Now Dr. Amelia's university has asked the training group to look for her.

Egan joins this team on a plane with kitchen supplies. On the way to the base he and Magnum chat about what's been going on, and how little they know. Once he gets his room assignment, he meets a neighbor Garry Boon who informs him he's in the haunted room. Garry also shows him the way to the kitchen and gives him the rundown on what's available and when. He would have gone to play cards with Garry, but the Chef was glaring at him. Chef's not happy new people are showing up with everything that has been happening. Egan even offers to help out in the kitchen if Chef needs help.

He also meets Berry and Cherry, they are not identical twins, but sometimes when thy aren't together people mix them up. Their personalities are very different, though. Cherry is almost rude in her responses to Egan, while Berry is far more cordial.

After settling in for the night Berry decides she wants a cup of tea,and persuades Cherry to let her go alone. This is when she runs into Egan again. Their conversation brings up some interesting points with regard to Cherry's relationship with one of the missing men, Yegorahn, and gives a different perspective as well.

It's the next day that things get stirred up again as a broken sled with a body tied to it is found at the scientist's camp. Egan was with the team that went out and Berry seeks him out for information.

The conversation Egan has with Berry brings up some interesting points with a different perspective as well.

Mountain returns briefly the day they found Yegorahn. He's happy Egan made it in okay and while they talk, he learns that Cherry had a relationship with Yegorahn. Something that wasn't mentioned in the previous investigation. Now Mountain's angry but doesn't have time to talk to her again, so he puts Egan in charge and tells him to start from scratch.

There's a lot of hostility and getting information is like pulling teeth. More with drugs and then there's a break-in. So, more questions with no answers. Missing pages from the investigation and so much more. All of this could be related but is it really?

Even with all that's going on Egan and Berry have a connection, one that they both want to explore. They do seem to have meals together and find a bit of time to discuss the current case and eventually will get time for more.

I am loving the intense atmosphere of these books. The suspense just builds and with
each book I worry about Teegan more than the people at the base. We get what I will only call a partial resolution to the issues arising in this book. There is still so much more to come.

I really can't wait for the next book in this series!

This is the third book in a series with an overarching big bad and lots of other mischief along the way. The heart of this story is twin sisters Berry and Cherry and one of those 2 is the evil twin. I have a sister who is not my twin but she is still my sister so it is hard for me to imagine a sister doing what the evil twin did in this book. Dale did an amazing job of making one twin crazy heartless and the other feel the need to apologize for those actions. The tension between the sisters is palpable as is the underlying tension in the story.

I am still trying to wrap my mind around what the evil sister had planned and around the endgame of the book's big bad. I have gone through so many iterations in my own mind of what might be happening so the author has done a super job of keeping me guessing and keeping me reading.

It was also nice to see Magnus and Sydney back in this book. They are starting to feel like the lead team of the story and we will continue to see them until the end. Speaking of the end, you are introduced to the new pair and other mystery when this story ends.

I would be remiss if I didn't put in a good word for the dogs. LOL. Any story where dogs play an important part in the story is a plus with me. Dale writes the dogs as both helping with the training and providing emotional support which they do.

One complaint or hope for future books is that Mountain gets more story time and a good ending. He seems like a man with a good heart.

I am now anxiously awaiting the next book and recommend that you join me in doing so. If you haven't read 1 or 2, now is the time to jump into this story. It is interesting and well worth the time.

This is the third book in Dale Mayer’s Shadow Recon series. This story takes place in the permafrost of the Arctic where a joint task force is taking place. This force is made up of military men and women from various countries who are honing up their winter skills.

Curiously, there are a lot of people who have suspiciously disappeared. A few of them have already been found dead. In addition, the extremely bad weather is keeping everyone cooped up inside. Thus, everyone is scared, bored and angry, and they all want to go home. Unfortunately, no one is allowed to leave until they find the missing people and arrest the culprits.

When, Mason, commander of the Maverick team, discovers that one of the missing men is a friend of his, he sends some of his agents out there to find out what is going on. He sends Egan to thoroughly investigate the situation.

Berry, and her twin Cherry, have been part of the task force from the beginning. Unfortunately, both of them are struggling to stay calm despite the stressful situation. Strangely, all of a sudden, Cherry begins to exhibit some very bizarre behaviors. Berry is confused and worried, but she has no idea what to do.

As Berry attempts to find out what is happening to her sister, she and Egan discover that they are attracted to each other. Together, they closely scrutinize Cherry’s behavior to explore if it has anything to do with everything else that is going on.

This book will captivate readers with its non-stop action and riveting suspense. I was so fascinated by each unexpected twist and turn that I found it nearly impossible to put the book down.

Poor Berry😭 gosh I wanted to give her a massive hug, she didn't deserve the treatment dished out to her by a person who professed to love her. Thankfully Egan is supportive and understanding while still doing his job. I do wonder just how many more twists and turns this series could take, baring in mind the fairly small camp and amount of people there. Only so many scenarios that could be concocted without repeating and given the surrounding area where can .missing people be that is still within walking distance to the camp. I worry about Teagan, I really hope he is just injured and being cared for somewhere. Twists and turns, lots of angst and lies in this one, one really nasty piece of work and I hope there are lots of charges brought. I loved Egan and Berry, they seemed well suited to each other. We didn't here much about Rogan in this one and what he was up to while all the investigations were going on, he is part of the team so was surprised about that. Interesting topics and scenery, and a lead into the next book at the end as the over all plot continues. I'm enjoying the series it's a little different due to placement and the various countries involved, obviously complex because other things are happening as well as the first missing people and deaths. It certainly doesn't sound a very welcoming place and the cold doesn't appeal to me, but I get it from scientists point of view and from a training one for military. Exciting and lots going on that kept me focused and interested as well as empathetic to Berry. Excellent story.

This is the third book in Dale Mayer's "Shadow Recon" series and although it is a standalone, there is a mystery thread running through the book so reading them is sequence is a good idea.
Things are going seriously wrong at the International Arctic Training camp, there is a sinister atmosphere , there is evil about and the fear is palpable, people have gone missing including Mountains brother and Dr Amelia, the leader of the nearby scientific camp, some have been found dead, everyone's nerves are stretched to the limit, no one knows who they can trust.
Egan Crosok has been sent by Mason to infiltrate and help Magnus to unravel the mystery.
Berry is persuaded by her sister Cherry to do the Arctic training, things haven't been right with them for a long time but Cherry insisted that being closed in at the Arctic camp they would be able to sort out their problems......... or would they ?
When it was discovered that Cherry was sleeping with one of the Russian team and he was later found dead the "you know what" hit the fan. How can twins be so different ? who killed the Russian and why ?
Dale Mayer has tackled a very emotive subject in this book, she is building up the tension throughout the series, what has happened to Mountain's brother ?Mountain definitely won't give up his search, what has happened to Dr. Amelia, could she still be alive after all this time ? Will Berry and Egan get their HEA ? This book finished Egan's story and I can't wait to read Barret's.

Action - Mysteries - Heart-Breaking Revaluations
They are still trying to figure out what’s going on/who’s responsible/where are the missing/who’s the murderer.
OMG! This is book three of the Shadow Recon Series. Though EGAN is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book. The series revolves around a multi-national cold weather training task force in the Arctic. Not only is the weather terrible and keeping the attendees trapped inside the base but events are escalating that are dangerous. Magnus, Mountain, and Rogan are still investigating but with little cooperation and a bed of lies, they are spinning their wheels. Egan has arrived to help with the investigation and with fresh eyes he’s uncovered new information to follow up on.
Twins Berry and Cherry are participants in the survival training program but like all the others they are confined to the base until the weather breaks. Berry is pretty responsible and level-headed but her sister Cherry is a bit high-strung. This story is filled with more mysteries, another missing person, and rebellion. Midway through the story, there are shocking heartbreaking developments. I loved Berry! She is a smart, stand-up woman. Egan is a sweet guy who brings a lot to this investigation and he and Berry form a solid friendship which could lead to more. WOW! This story had me on the edge of my chair trying to keep up with the developments. I highly recommend this read. I received a free advanced copy of this story from Booksprout and these are my thoughts. Linda

Egan has arrived at the arctic training camp amidst multiple mysteries to help investigate. There's a lot going on but things get worse when another body is found. Berry is only at the camp because her sister, Cherry, talked her into although she is liking it for the most part. But Cherry soon shows a different side of her personality and may be involved in something that isn't on the up and up. Berry is shocked and not sure things can be fixed. However, Berry is enjoying her time with Egan as she helps him with his investigation. And they soon discover that they have a special connection so they work on their relationship despite some things going bad.

I received an ARC of this book from Booksprout and this is my honest, unbiased review. I've really enjoyed this series and this book is a prime example of why. It's third in the series and it builds on the first two very well. The book was well-written with well-developed characters and a fast-paced plot. The relationships were done well especially the one between Berry and her sister and the one Berry has with Egan. The book's full of romance, intrigue, and suspense with a mystery that'll keep you on your toes. I was absolutely hooked on this book from page one and didn't want to put it down. I'm very eager for the next book and highly recommend both book and series. While each book can be read as a stand-alone, I suggest reading the series in order to get the most benefit and enjoyment from things.

The Arctic training facility is still having lots of issues so Egan is sent in to try to help solve the mystery and to stop more bad things from happening. Berry has been on the base doing her job since the beginning of the mission. She and her sister volunteered for the mission so they could get the cold weather training and spend time together. Egan and Berry are immediately drawn to one another. Will the circumstances at the base keep Egan and Berry apart? Will they solve the mystery in time?

Right out of the gate, this story continues all of the threads that have been set up in the prior stories AND has a mystery plot that is stand alone. All of the players from the prior books are a part of this book but they don't get any additional character development. Egan and Berry are both introduced as fully formed characters so the story is more about them moving through the story from issue to issue rather than character development. At the end of the story I was kind of wishy washy about my feelings toward Egan but I really felt like Berry had been put through the wringer and I felt sorry for her. I gave this a 4 star rating because I am enjoying the journey and am excited to read what happens next. I probably would only give this a 3 star rating if I wasn't invested in the bigger story. I will read more from this author in the future.

This is book three in The Shadow Recon series and it is Egan and Berry’s story. Egan has arrived at the artic camp where so many mysterious things are happening and there are no clues to who is responsible or why, bodies have been found and people are still missing but there seems to be more questions than answers. When Berry’s twin sister convinced her to go and help at the artic camp she is shocked at how much turmoil there is and what is happening and she wondered whether she had made a mistake giving in to her sister’s requests especially as her sister seems to not be acting like herself and Berry is seeing a side to her twin sister Cherry that she had never seen before making Berry feel very uncomfortable and unsettled and also not knowing what is going on. When Egan and Berry meet and start spending time together a strong friendship had begin to develop and they leaned on and worked together really well and connected on a deeper level but will this lead to them getting together and having a future or will it all be taken away from them by the evil on this artic base only time will tell what the outcome will be for them all. This series just gets better and better with each book written and the twists and turns will have you on the edge of your seat while holding your breath and turning the pages to see what will happen next and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing and action packed series.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive. Layers upon layers of deceit in this book generated mainly by one person. As the layers were peeled back it was hard for me to understand the level of hatred. Even when given a possible reason for some of it, it still floored me. This is book 3 of Shadow Recon. Each book is a person sent in by Mason to recon the disappearing people, the bodies that are piling and to help search for Mountains brother. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend grabbing them now so you can follow each clue. The couples find their HEA but the underlying thread, the mystery of all that is happening in the arctic at this multi nation training facility is slowly untangled in each book. One of the occurrences towards the end that is directed towards Berry (sorry - no spoilers) was a little out of left field for me. I sort of get the reasoning for it, but it seemed more like a checking off a resolution point on something that had gone missing. Barring that I am loving the crumbs that are being dropped, Amelia (the scientist) as well as more interaction with the natives. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Eagen #Shadowrecon #dalemayer #valleyoublishingltd #booksprout

Berry's twin sister Cherry convinced her to try for the same training camp as her except none of her previous training prepared her for what she would face when there. Being stuck in close quarters during bad weather and with the missing or killed people it is hard for people to stay calm and in control. When her sister Cherry shows an ugly side to her personality she is not sure she can fix it. Wondering how many others it affected, Egan and Berry need to find out, before they become the next victims.

I enjoyed this story with the historical and present-day drama dragged into the same storyline. I don't know if much progress was made for the underlying problem but it did chip away at it a little bit. I loved the friendship and then the relationship that started between Egan and Berry but I'm sure it will become something much more over time. There was some drama in this story but a lot of it was emotional and revelations. Easy to read and understand.

Egan & Berry

The frozen Arctic can be a lonely place on a good day, however throw in a murder and random people go missing, makes it a very dangerous and unhappy place to be.

Egan seems to bring out the worst in some people. Pair him up with Berry to question her twin sister, cherry, brings out an ugly side of Cherry’s erratic personality.

The new clues provided by Cherry’s confession reveal a very ugly situation for Berry. When drugs are introduced into an already unseemly scenario in a very remote location, unexpected bad things are going to happen.

I enjoyed Egan & Berry’s method of putting the puzzle pieces together. Unfortunately, Berry’s life gets put under the strain as well as Cherry’s behavior. I liked how Cherry’s selfish character, gets her just rewards for her life long cruel and manipulative behavior towards her twin. Stories usually have the twins siding and bonding together, so this one is refreshing and interesting.

Full of danger, many clues, but many more questions, makes this an exciting story.

I am about to pull my hair out! This is so frustrating! This book should not be read as a stand-alone. There is entirely too much going on and it only seems to build with each person brought into the training site.

I felt so sorry for Berry. Her sister Cherry proved to be a piece of work. At least a couple of issues were resolved before a new one cropped up. I was also glad Berry had Egan to lean on through all of the drama. It was good to see that Egan brought a fresh perspective along with his arrival.

This book had a little of everything. Mystery, suspense, intrigue, danger, romance, and a couple of totally unstable people. I am honestly not sure if this book got me closer to what was and continues to go on at this training facility. There seemed to be a ton of loose threads and no way to tie them up. Hopefully we will get closer to some answers with the next book.

These Shadow Recon books have been so good! There are so many things happening, some of them shocking. Egan is the next person to be sent to the Arctic training center to help figure out what the heck is going on there.

Berry and her twin sister Cherry are both in the army and are there for the arctic survival training, but it turns out that Cherry was sleeping with one of the missing Russians, and wasn't honest in her answers to the investigation, oops. Berry is worried about her sister and get together with Egan to help find answers.

So much psychological stuff going on, with a concentrated number of people in a remote place where there have been murders, people missing, etc.

I don't think I can say anything else without spoilers! I love the Huskies! Who could go wrong with happy dog cuddles?.

Egan by Dale Mayer
Shadow Recon Series Book Three
Egan Crosok has just arrived at the Artic military training base to join the Shadow Recon team to figure out what’s happening with the missing and dead men and women from their base and the scientists’ camp. Another man is missing, and the woman who could’ve helped by telling the truth hadn’t. Every time Cherry spoke, they couldn’t believe her.
Berry couldn’t believe her twin sister. She was always negative, but now she’s angry. And Berry finds out that Cherry seems to hate her. Especially after she lets Egan and Magnus know that Cherry may know more than what she’s saying. It gets even worse…but I’ll leave that spoiler alert out of my review.
I enjoy these series where each book is a romance story and may solve one issue, but the main storyline continues in each book.

Egan has been sent to the artic training camp to help out with the investigation by Mason. The issues at the science camp has left everyone on edge. Mountain’s brother. Teegan is still missing but Mountain believe his brother is still alive. In all the searching they only thing that has been found is another body.
Berry and her sister Cherry are at the training camp for a new experience. None of Berry's training will help her deal with the issues and problems that are coming. Bad weather has everyone on edge and several people are finding it difficult to stay calm. When there's a shift in Berry's sister attitude and personality, Berry sees a side of her sister she never expected. This book has everything, cabin fever, deceit, lies, missing people, death, drugs and hate. I loved this book. The story is original and the characters are amazing. This is a must read!

Egan arrives in the Arctic to help with the investigation and meets Berry, who has a twin sister, Cherry, who is a piece of work. Berry knew about her twin’s relationship with one of the missing Russian men and thought her sister had told the investigators all she know. What she does find out is her deceit full, psychotic sister has been ruining her life for many many years. Egan is determined to get to the bottom of Cherry’s secrets and what he finds shocks them all, mostly Berry, and Egan is there for her to get through it all.
A good read with a bit of steam, suspense, secrets revealed, twists and turns and good characters. Berry was kind, thoughtful, forgiving and the good twin. Egan sees that she is the total opposite of her evil twin who he sees right through and is there for Berry through all the drama.

EGAN( Shadow Recon Book 3)

Troubles continue to mount in the arctic Base a missing soldier is found dead. The girlfriend of the missing and now dead soldier is found to be caught in a series of lies that may implicate herself in what is going on at the base.

The sub plot of this story is sibling jealousy. The story is about two twins and how one takes low self esteem and jealousy a step to far. But th his is not just an issue with twins. I have seen it with a sister stealing the others boyfriend or stopping from ever having a boyfriend. Sisterhood jealousy is a common and destructive thing but hopefully it does not often go to the extent that it did in this book before it is found and taken care of.

I enjoy all of Dale Mayer's series but I have definitely enjoyed this one and highly recommend this book.

Let me just start by saying wow I don't know how or if Dale Mayer can top this book after reading this gloriously twisted storyline. This is a running continuation of the plot in prior books addressing the disappearance of military personnel and scientist but on steroids as we are given a
Up close and personal introduction to the twins Berry and Cherry you just really need to read to believe all of the craziness that is Egan story. There are several social issues touched on as the plot unfolds and secrets are revealed. This a very low heat level and plenty of colorful recurring characters from past stories.

At the Arctic camp over a dozen countries have joined hands preparing training to up the winter endurance of these elite men and women. However things have gone wrong and now death and missing people have set a new tone of distrust and anxiety. In this 3rd book of the shadow Recon series we find Egan joining the people under cover to help solve the mysteries unfolding at the camp. Now we meet Berry and Cherry, twins, who have a mystery all their own to complicate an already tense scenario. Interesting complex characters and well handled multiple mysteries make this a great series. Along with the sled dogs, weather complications, mystery and romance, there is never a dull moment. I really enjoyed this book!.

More mysterious goings on at the training camp in the arctic - food stolen, Russian's dead body found, and investigation notes go missing. The good news is that one of missing persons has now been accounted for. The bad news is there are still missing persons with no sign of them. With the bad weather, people are starting to get testy with everything that is going on. As Egan investigates, it comes to light that Cherry was with the Russian the night before his disappearance. Her twin Berry gets involved in the investigation when she mentions this to Egan. Then more secrets that Cherry had been keeping come to light and Berry's life is greatly impacted, leaving her to wonder if she can forgive her sister. Also during this time, Berry and Egan become more involved with each other.

And they soon discover that they have a special connection, so they work on their relationship despite some things going bad. There definitely is more going on than anyone realized . This story is intriguing and suspenseful and keeps you wanting more.

Egan has now arrived at the Arctic training session, to find another Russian has gone missing. Berry inadvertently tells him about her twin, Cherry, who'd been having an affair with him. Time for another investigation. Cherry is not impressed and lots more comes out that Berry didn't know about.
Mountain is still going out looking for his brother and the leader of the scientists, Amelia.
Then Egan's investigative notes are removed from the colonel's desk, and an outside door is forced and some food is taken.
Are they ever going to get to the bottom of all this trouble?

With all the danger and the suspicious activity at the training camp Egan is the next man to be sent to increase their forces and help with the investigation. Two of the first people he meets are Berry and her twin sister Cherry. He soon realizes that they not only couldn’t they be more different but so are the feelings he has for each of them.

Although the training camp wasn’t exactly something that Berry wanted to do, she wants to be there for her sister. As new details are revealed regarding some of the happening she finds herself working with Egan and is about to find out that betrayal is much closer than she anticipated.

The suspense will keep you guessing, and the surprises keep coming as Berry and Egan find love under the most dangerous of circumstances.

a 3.5 stars read.

I really enjoyed this one, with hot temperature these days, this book really help me cooling down, I can imagine the coldness of the arctic, this book really took me to arctic. As for the big mystery in this series, we still clueless what really happen, more and more questions and theories. The subplot is pretty solid and kinda creepy, although dragging at some point and repetitive, I still enjoyed it, I love the drama and affair, brass and members from all around the world, siblings drama (I really enjoyed the drama). I like the romance too and the couple is perfect for each other. But what I love the most is the dogs, even though I wished more action with them. Overall, it's a fast-paced romantic suspense read.

With each addition to this series we get some answers but we get far more questions Yes we have discovered two "Bad Guys" but people are still missing one of them being Mountain's brother Teegan. Egan is sent in to try to help and he finds himself connecting with Berry she has come to the camp with her sister Cherry but she is seeing a side of her sister she doesn't like at all. With more mysteries happening all the time Can they get to the bottom of it all Can Egan keep Berry safe and can they build a future You will have to read to see

Dale has always been an artist at building tension throughout her series but she has gone next level with this one and I can't wait for more books in this wonderful series

This is the third book in the Shadow Recon series. In each book a member of Mason’s team is sent to Artic Survival training to investigate mysterious deaths and missing men. In this book Egan is sent to see if he can get any new information from people at the training base. When Berry inadvertently tells Egan something that her twin Cherry omitted during her initial interview regarding the missing Russian. Egan decides to question Cherry again. This leads to more lies being uncovered and the mystery of the Russian’s death is solved. Although each book is a separate story, I think this series is better read in order to get references to previous books.
