The wealthiest man in Dead Horse, MT, Cash Whitaker, decides it’s time to find a wife before he begins his campaign for mayor. He figures having the right wife will increase his likability as a candidate. Becoming the mayor is important because the office will give him the power to protect his town by cleaning out the bounty hunters, who aren’t “Dead Horse” and have put his town on the map for all the wrong reasons.
Being a busy man and knowing his particular skill set doesn’t lend itself to the task, he decides to give the responsibility of finding a wife to his highly efficient personal assistant. He’ll let her put together a list of suitable candidates for him to sort through to find the woman who will help him on the path to his ultimate goal of becoming the governor of Montana.
Lila Hanson is spitting mad that her boss wants her to find him a wife. The single mom has spent two years becoming his ultimate asset, only to have him completely overlook her as the perfect candidate. When she turns to her girl squad to vent, they suggest a plan to open the clueless man’s eyes to what’s right in front of him.
However, a tragic incident throws both their plans into chaos and brings a new intimacy neither can ignore. Now, they have to work together to save an orphaned child.

What happens when you combine a clueless man and a determined woman? A heartwarming story, that's what. Delilah Devlin definitely delivered. Cash Whittaker is a driven man, completely focused on his goals. Lila Hanson is his dedicated assistant. Everything is going well until Cash asked her to find him a wife! Lila is furious. For two years, she has been waiting for him to notice her as more than an assistant. Following the advice from her girlfriends, she pulls out all the stops to make him take notice. Cash doesn't know what on Earth is happening. His faithful assistant Lila has changed. Will he wise up, and grab the happiness staring him in the face? Get this book ASAP and find out. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.

Cash Whitaker is a very wealthy man and is determined to not only continue to acquire property in Dead Horse, but also to become the mayor of the town. Mostly, so that the bounty hunters in town don’t continue to expand. He believes that to be more appealing to the constituents, being a married man would help him win, and enlists his PA, single mom Lila Hanson, to search for the right woman. Needless to say, she is not a happy camper and is determined to show him she should be the one he chooses. But plans get diverted when they go to check on a property, and an unexpected turn of events leaves a child homeless and an orphan . It isn’t until then, one third into the book, that Cash becomes more human and approachable.
As Cash and Lila work to help the child, feelings develop. But are they just occurring because of the situation or are those feelings real?
As someone that has not read the Montana Bounty Hunters, I was a little confused. They are depicted as “bad” for the community when in fact, I believe they are anything but.
Also, at the beginning, I was turned off by Cash description as a calculating and full of himself man, when in fact he wasn’t . But by then it took me a while to liking him.
For me, the plot and the characters were just ok. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Cold, Hard Cash is the first book in the We Are Dead Horse, MT . This is Cash Whitaker and Lila Hanson’s story.
Cash is the richest man in Dead Horse. He decides he needs to get married before he runs for Mayor and he asks his assistant Lila to find him a wife.
Lila told her girlfriends about him asking her to find a wife and Lila was mad that he would even ask her that. She wondered why he never looked her way. Her girlfriends gave her ideas of what to do to attract his attention. Well she did just that!
This book is a short read and I was able to read it in about 3 hours. I loved Cash and Lila’s story. Off to a good start for this series. I am looking forward to reading Hard Knox next.

This is a new series about the residents of Dead Horse, Montana and starts with Cash Whitaker, the richest man in Dead Horse, who pretty much owns most of the town. He wants to be mayor but before that can happens he decides he needs a wife. This is where his assistant & single Mom, Lila, comes into his plan. He assigns her the task of compiling a list of wife candidates for him. She’s totally blown away by this request as she’s had a secret crush on him a while now & he apparently isn’t seeing that. It’s a fun read as they work through this “project”. This series, no doubt, will be another great one from Ms. Devlin and one to be enjoyed.

There is nothing like falling in love in a small town. Everyone knows you are in love before you do. Rumors fly especially when you are the wealthiest person in said small town. Lila and Cash's story is so heart warming. Cash being the man of being blind sided by his feelings, and of course Lila knowing and making it happen. Story is always great with kids involved.

An entirely different book this time. Instead of one of the Dead Horse Bounty hunters getting a story it’s future mayor Cash Whitaker and his PA single mom Lila’s story. Cash wants a wife to make him look better to the town. He makes a huge mistake asking Lila to find prospects. She gets him back by looking like a knock out! Add an unfortunate incident and a special little girl that brings them closer and you feet a great book!

Small town!
Cold, Hard, Cash: WOW! This story had a totally different twist it. I loved it and it still had the romance! Cash was a hard man! He wanted to keep the small town a small town but he feels the Bounty Hunters will take over! Fantastic writing and dialog!
