Riches to rags. ... Hidden guns, ... old but not forgotten wounds, ... and a buried treasure!
Finding an Uzi in the urn at the shattered mausoleum is exciting and frustrating. Yet Doreen can’t delve into the case, and Mack has been firm about that. She struggles to focus on other cases from her journalist files, in particular the Bob Small file. Only her plan goes off the rails when Nan and her cronies show up at her door, with the Rosemoor bus, intent on heading to the excitement happening at the cemetery. When a grave is opened to reveal its shocking contents, the city is on high alert, as gang members arrive, circling around, looking for a rumored buried treasure, all connected to a man who died six months ago. Between crooked lawyers, greedy family members, changes of heart, and everyone else out looking for a buried treasure, Corporal Mack Moreau is on his toes. Especially as Doreen and her animal cohorts are in the middle once again. But no one could possibly envision where this case ends up—right back in the cemetery where it all started …

Doreen and Mack! We are almost to the end of the alphabet and while I love that they relationship is moving along and Doreen’s stands I also want to give them a shove (kinda like Nan and everyone else does). At least Doreen finally admits there’s an item and she’s “his love life” While strolling in the cemetery the Mack and Doreen find an”Uzi in the Urn” and thus the adventure begins. One of the big plus in this book is that Doreen finally got mad and stood up to her soon to be ex husband even knowing that it will make him angry. The uzi in the urn leads to a hidden cache of weapons that may or may not be related to the serial killer Bob Smalls. Mack continues to be protective of Doreen while trying not to stifle her spirit. Hopefully the divorce will go through next book and we shall see more relationship progress :)
Easy, pass the time, hate read as always. If the lead character fell under a bus I wouldn’t blink, as long as the animals were ok. Still can’t quite believe Dale Mayer would write such sloppy characterisation but I do enjoy the mystery workings out.
Another fun read from this series, the cold case is about greed that may or may not connected to a gang. It piqued my interest from the get go, and this one is a pretty solid case, even though Matthew's appearances kinda disturbing and weird and I don't get it, it's still a great cozy mystery read though. But what I love the most in this book is the relationship between Mack and Doreen, they're getting closer and closer each day, I just want them to be together forever, I root for them from the beginning, their sparks and banter always put a big smile on my face, and lets not forget Nan and her croonies and Doreen's fur babies. This one definitely a fun cozy mystery read.
Doreen and Mack and the gang of pets were walking in a cemetery. What started out as possible vandalism escalated to so much more. Prepare for friendship and family, protective friends and even more protective feathers and fur, twists and turns. A page turner at its best.

What starts as a stroll through the cemetery after a funeral ends up with not only the title of Doreen's new case but also her being sent home with Arnold while Mack stayed behind to work.
Once home waiting for Mack to call her, she makes the mistake of not checking before answering her phone and it's her soon to be ex, Matthew. After a not so pleasant sort of conversation that she hangs up on him, she lets Nick know that he called, and she answered. Nick decides it's time to turn up the heat and get this divorce done. This leads to Matthew threatening her and Nick moving the court case up.
In the meantime, Mack is dealing with the Uzi they found and then the larger stash in a second grave. It's a dangerous situation and he doesn't want Doreen involved. She's really trying to stay out of it and starts looking into the Bob Small case. She needs to contact Hinja's great niece Mila since there's a possibility, he's involved in the Uzi case. What she finds is more disturbing, apparently at Hinja's funeral there was a old man Mila didn't know. He admired her hair, which is curly and Bob Smith's type. Doreen warns her to be vigilant, so nothing happens to her.
More calls from Matthew as he gets more and more annoying. But when he shows up Mack puts a stop to his intrusion.
There really is a lot going on in this book and Mack even lets her go back to the cemetery to snoop. She doesn't find answers then but does get creeped out over a man lurking nearby.
So many threads to follow here, we learn a bit more about Matthew and his dealings. Doreen somehow manages to unravel most of them but has Mack with her to check things out.
Of course, the real heroes are Thaddeus, Goliath and Mugs.
I really can't wait for the next book in this series. There's still so much at stake.
Book twenty one in Dale Mayer's "Lovely Lethal Gardens" series and the intrigue never stops. Doreen Montgomery is trying desperately to divorce her abusive, wealthy but greedy, husband, left with nothing she is given her Nan's lovely house in Kelowna and has a lovely "will they won't they" relationship with local detective, Corporal Mack Moreau. Mack's lawyer brother , Nick, is fighting for a substantial divorce settlement for Doreen but her husband is turning nasty and Mack fears for her safety. Whilst living in Kelowna Doreen has gained quite a reputation as an amateur sleuth, realizing that she has a talent for solving cold cases much to the frustration and more than a little admiration of long suffering Mack, Doreen also like to poke her nose into current cases, usually with near disastrous outcomes but somehow she always manages to get results. When she and Mack discover a broken vault in the cemetery at first vandalism is suspected but then chaos looms as rumours of buried guns and treasure begin to emerge. In Doreen's inimitable way she digs and digs until she gets answers, ably assisted by her wonderful, hilarious Nan and a busload of senior citizens from Rossmore Care Home and not forgetting her menagerie of pets who always manage to save the day. A lovely tongue in cheek cosy mystery with wonderful characters.

Doreen and Mack find an Uzi in an urn in a shattered mausoleum. Still, Mack is strictly keeping the case and any information about the case firmly away from Dorren (which is driving her mad so that she is struggling to concentrate on anything else). When Nan and some of the Rosemoor residents turn up in their minibus to watch the goings on at the cemetery, things start to go a little weird as a grave is opened and the contents are shocking. Before they know it gang members start to arrive to look for some other buried treasure in the cemetery. Between crooked lawyers, greedy family members, changes of heart, and everyone else out looking for a buried treasure, Mack is on his toes. Especially as Doreen and her animal cohorts are in the middle once again.
I loved this story which definitely looks a bit more like human nature and how some people can only see greed or are so caught up in something that it is far too late to change. I liked the mystery and how Doreen only really worked everything out at the last minute because her thought processes sometimes take a while to connect everything together. Easy to read, feel and understand.

Doreen has her hands full in this story. Her almost ex-husband, Mathew, is so furious that he may be stuck paying her a huge chunk of change in the divorce settlement. He has gone from verbal battering over the phone to physically in-her-face strong arming Doreen but Mack is there to intercede when threats get very serious. Mack and Doreen are moving closer to being more than just friends. Doreen is afraid to commit but Mack is just so wonderful she’s dropping her guard. The whole gang is in this story, quirky grandma Nan and the riotous residents of the Rosemoor Retirement Home. The stars of the show in my opinion are the fur and feather babies Thaddeus, Mugs and Goliath. Purely by accident Mack and Doreen are out for a walk in the cemetery when they find a broken urn at the mausoleum. There’s an Uzi, in pieces/parts in the urn! The Uzi leads to a massive grave full of guns. AND, she’s off solving another who-done-it. Doreen’s tenacious in tracking down leads and once she gets face to face with a person-of-interest she makes them so comfortable they tend to blab all they know. This is such a fun series. Doreen is a very unusual loveable character. I received a free advanced copy of this story from Booksprout and these are my thoughts. Linda
Uzi in the Urn is one of the best books in this series so far. It features a clever plot, lively dialogues, and a great cast of characters, including three adorable pets, resulting in a pleasant and entertaining reading experience. Doreen, the leading character, is investigating the mystery of a broken cemetery vault. Her usual team sides with her: the residents of the local retirement home, led by her grandmother, her quasi-boyfriend Corporal Mack Moreau, almost resigned to her continuous interference in his police work, and, of course, her animals. Doreen is recovering from an abusive marriage, a chapter not yet entirely closed. She works hard to rebuild her confidence, and seeing how her personality evolves during the story is a pleasure. I enjoyed reading Uzi in the Urn and look forward to the next episodes in the series.
I absolutely love Uzi in the Urn . It's a delightful cozy Mystery and part of the l Lethal Gardens series . Doreen is an amateur sleuth and has been solving cold cases since she moved to town . With help of her furry and feathery family Mugs her dog , Thaddeus the talking bird and Goliath her maine coon cat . While Doreen and Mack are walking through the cemetery they discover a broken mausoleum and a Uzi in an Urn . Doreen is forbidden to investigate the case . But Doreen and her animals always end up in the middle . This tale is action packed and intriguing and definitely entertaining . I highly recommend taking the time to read.

It's hard to keep Doreen out of Mac's cases when she witnesses the broken urn with the uzi inside and then witnesses what's in an open grave. With Doreen's curiosity and people willing to talk to her, she is quickly involved in another mystery. Adding to the excitement, her soon-to-be ex-husband Mathew is caught harassing her. I received a free copy of this book through Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is an interesting cozy mystery. I love that Doreen is getting so much support in digging into cases even though Mac is worried about her safety. I also love seeing Doreen and Mac growing closer together. I also enjoy seeing Doreen being more confident in her dealing with Mathew.
I think I find this series so enjoyable because the conclusions seem to never be obvious. When this book started out with Mack, Doreen, and the animals taking a casual walk, I never envisioned the path Doreen and Mack would end up traveling.
I enjoyed the witty dialogue, Mack's frustration with Doreen's involvement in these cases, Nick's pursuit in getting Doreen's settlement from Mathew, and Nan's glee at each case Doreen starts working.
I love the fact that no matter how convoluted things seem to me, Doreen always makes it make sense.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries that don't have an obvious solution.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via. Booksprout.
I have only read a few books in this series but it is fun to watch as Doreen solves another mystery with her faithful furry sidekicks. Mack was even there when the bullets started flying!
Lots of things tied into solving the missing loot and figuring out what went down 20+ years ago and how it tied in to today's people.
Don't want to give away any spoilers but the body at the end of course had to be surrounded by violets...lol
Reading more of the series would probably help when talking about the serial killer which seems to be part of an ongoing back story but the uzi, grave and missing loot was solved in this book and fun to read!.

Uzi In the Urn by Dale Mayer is the 21st Book of the Lovely Lethal Gardens series. Doreen, Mugs, Goliath, and Thaddeus are on another adventure with Corporal Mack Morea in tow. Mack has a new case regarding an uzi in an urn at the local mausoleum. Doreen what’s to help but this is an active case so Mack is trying to keep her out of it. There are greedy family members, crooked lawyers, threats, an angry ex-husband, drama and so much more. I loved this story. The characters are amazing and have a complicated relationship. The animals are funny and do their part in making this a great story. This story had me from page, I couldn’t put it down. This is a real page turner and a must read!
Fabulous and intriguing plot, twists and suspense and lots going on. Is one case mixed up with the other or two separate cases? I love Doreen's brain and how she figures everything out, often seeing what others don't. The animals as always are fun until protection is needed and they will not stop until Doreen is safe again. Her and Mack are getting a little romance squeezed in here and there which is awesome, hopefully soon she will be completely free to do more. Great banter and teasing along the way which lightens some of the heavy stuff. Acceptance at Rosemore as well, brilliant. Another wow factor story from this series.
The Lovely Lethal Gardens cozy mystery continues. This is book 21 and I can honestly say I am always surprised with the conclusion! Doreen is getting closer to her divorce and her soon to be ex is raising his head. She is starting to have more belief in herself and stand up for herself. Never hurts to have Mugs (dog) Goliath (cat) and Thaddeus (bird)and her friendship, budding romance with Corporal Mack. This series always entertains, always intrigues and delivers a HEA. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Uziintheurn #lovelylethalgardens #dalemayer #valleypublishltd #booksprout
This is book twenty one in this fun cosy mystery series that is the perfect escape from life
Once again we are with Doreen and Mack Things are slowly moving with their relationship as well as Doreen getting her divorce from her abusive ex Matthew all with the help of Nick the lawyer brother of Mack. But things are also heating up in the mystery front when an Uzi is found as they leave a memory and then more weapons are found. Mack needs to solve that case while keeping Doreen safe and away from the action but danger finds her anyway in the abusive ex. Can they finally get some peace You will have to read to see
After a funeral Doreen and Mack are walking through the cemetery when they find that a mausoleum had been vandalized. Inside they find an Uzi by the urn. As the police investigate, they exhume a grave and find a stash of guns buried in the coffin. The beginning of the book was a little slow, setting the stage with a lot of seemingly unrelated topics. Then before you know Doreen ties it all together as she solves the mystery. I love the fact that Dale Mayer can come up with these unique mysteries. I am always surprised by the ending.

This cozy mystery by Dale Mayer show that she never disappoints us as each story just gets better. We will join Doreen,Mack and Doreen quirky pets Muggs,Goliath and Thaddeus on the trail of bob small and also the case of tbs buried guns.As Doreen an Mack walk around they come across a vault broken into an a urn with a piece of an Uzi in it and other pieces around it .Their day goes from a funeral to discovering a crime and a new case that Mack warns her about. There are so many twists an turns to this story you will be riveted until the very last page.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
Uzi in the Urn by Dale Mayer Lovely Lethal Gardens Series Book Twenty-One Doreen’s adventure was, as always, a page-turner. I enjoyed this story because it blended another case that hasn’t been solved yet. Mathew, Doreen’s soon-to-be ex-husband, shows up as well. But she can’t get him to sign the papers and be done with it. Mack is also impatiently waiting for Doreen’s divorce, as she won’t move on to her future before closing the door to her past—good for her! As always, Thadeus, Mugs, and Goliath are a big part of the story. And the old folks at Rosemoor add a lot of humor to the story. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
This episode is the twenty-first in the Lovely Lethal Garden Mystery series. I listened to this via Hoopla from my library. The narrator, Mandy Kaplan, did an excellent job relating & enhancing the story through her vocal variations.
While strolling in the cemetery the Mack and Doreen find an uzi in the columbarium. Lots of weapons buried in a second grave of a man in the columbarium at the cemetery.
They investigation is afoot since the weapon burial happened many years ago. I like that Doreen has finally grown a backbone now if we could get her to pay attention to incoming calls prior to answering. She should never pick up unless she is expecting a call or know the number.
Doreen and her animals as well as Mack are back. Things have kind of calmed down for Doreen, in fact, she and Mack are strolling through a cemetery looking at tomb stones. They come upon rows of plaques and Mack explains that this is where some people Put their urns.instead of burying them. Doreen notices one that looks as though it was broken in. Mack agrees and calls for his team since he can see bits and pieces of an Uzi next to the urn.
Lots of surprises in this one. Enjoyable read as usual.

While taking a stroll Doreen and Mack come across their next case. This case opens up all kinds of problems. It ties back to gangs, it leads to a mystery of some missing weapons and other items from 20 some years ago, it has connections to an infamous killer and it may even have ties back to Mathew. This one has strands going every which way. Doreen as always is on her game and for poor Mack keeping him on his toes. Love this series so much and can't wait to see what happens next. I volunteered to read this book via booksprout.
I can't believe we are at U already which means there might only be 5 more books and I am not in anyway ready for this series to finish. Once again Doreen has a case that she can't help but get involved in involving an Uzi no less, much to Macks chagrin. There are plenty of laughs not only from Doreen, but her Nan and the animals as well as times of frustration and worry with situations Doreen gets herself in not only with the case but also the douche canoe Mathew.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Only Doreen could find an Uzi in an urn while taking a walk with her friend Mack in a Mausoleum. Actually I'll have to admit I've never taken a walk in a Mausoleum. So off she goes on another adventure. Only she can solve mysteries with 3 extraordinary pets in tow but they have proven to be more than an asset. She may have gone from riches to rags but her life is ever so much more meaningful now. So much fun to watch her grow. Next will be "Victim in the Violets" and I'm definitely on board!.

I can't believe we're up to the letter U already. I don't want this series to end. Doreen and her critters are at it again. A weapon has turned up at the cemetery, gangs could be involved, her ex is threatening her and so much more. Mack continues to be her solid support throughout this story that was full of action and drama. I loved the suspense and watching Doreen fit the clues together. Her banter with Mack, her nan and the animals always has me chuckling. I can't wait to see what's in store for them all in the next story.
This must-read series continues to get better with each book as this one immediately pulled me into all that was happening and I couldn't put it down until I read the last word. I love Doreen and her wonderful pets as they catch murderers and solve crimes in Kelowna, BC and enjoy her dynamic with the other characters especially Mack who is waiting patiently. Uzi in the Urn was filled with twists and turns and kept me on my toes. Can't wait to see what happens next. I received an advance reader copy of this book and liked it so much, I purchased a copy. This is my voluntary review.
First someone breaks into a vault in the cemetery revealing an urn and an Uzi and that's just the beginning of all the problems. Doreen wants to investigate but Mack reminds her it's an open case. Then there's the soon to be ex-husband who keeps showing up and threatening her, add to that a grave dug up to find a coffin full of guns and who knows what else might be hidden there. In the end someone gets shot, jewels, money and lots of goodies are dug up and the murderer discovered. Great read.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and absolutely love Doreen and her animals. And I'm glad that thing's with her and Mack are progressing nicely. Nan and all of the other residents at Rosemore are hilarious and nosey. This mystery had twists and turns galore. There is more than one mystery happening and the second one is continuing on into the next book. It's about a serial killer and I for one can't wait for Victim in the Violets ❤️❤️.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love these books!! I love the mystery of Doreen solving and digging up the past. The animals are very faithful to those who love them and help to bring the bad guys down. Doreen went from riches to being financially poor and learning rich lessons. She is amazing at helping others and solving puzzles. People open up to Doreen being humble and her animals. I love the trouble Nan and her amazing friends (now her family) at Rosemoore. I can't wait for the next one.
