Hello, my name is Anthony Izzo and I'm the author of over 40 horror, thriller, and fantasy titles.
I love to write, but when I'm not writing I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, playing guitar, and drawing fantasy and horror art. I've been told my drawings are as twisted as my fiction, but I'm actually pretty normal. Well, mostly.
Looking forward to hearing from you and discussing books.
This was a solid entry in the cryptid genre, which - I must admit - is my favourite (sub)genre. Two couples head out for a much needed break in a remote, but wonderful cabin. They soon discover that the legend about what is stalking the woods is more than just a mere legend.
As said, this was a solid read and the book doesn't hold back on brutality. There are a few (minor) flaws, most of which didn't bother me too much. Apart from the aforementioned couples, the story contains multiple characters, some of which having their own storyline. In all, there are four or five main lines, which is a bit much for a book of this volume. Where the story can be quite brutal at times, it lacks in a build up of tension and atmosphere; the action starts fairly quickly. The dialogue is fine overall, but some exchanges just felt a bit off. The ending was also quite abrupt, which would've been fine if this was part of a series, but now it just leaves me with unanswered questions.
Still, all in all, a solid entry in the genre and well worth checking out.
