Rejection Series #2

Rejected By My Alpha Mate

Rate this book
I always thought nobody could hate me more than my own mother – till I met my fated mate…

Nobody rejects a fated mate. But mine did.

Half wolf, half warlock, he considers me a disgrace. One he doesn’t want to be linked to.

And with his rejection, he crushed that tiny ember of hope within me. That someone will finally love me.

I try to pull away, to avoid even more heartbreak, but the more I try to stay away, the more entangled I get in this pack and with this alpha who despises my very existence.

But there is something thrumming under the surface of this usually sleepy town, something dark and vicious. There are too many warlocks all of a sudden, another new pack, and I feel like I am being watched.

The worst is yet to come, however.

When one of the Alpha’s mate candidates is found murdered, all eyes turn to me…

Rejected By My Alpha Mate is a standalone book in The Rejection Series. It's a full-length romance packed with heart and heat! !
No cheating or cliffhangers and a satisfying happily ever after.

I am a sucker for all fated mate stories. And complete trash for rejected fated mate stories.

All the potential for angst and groveling? It’s the stuff of smut readers dreams, folks. This had a different…brand of angst. And the heroine here got really worked over by fate. But man, I really liked her and rooted for her every step of the way. All the stars are for her really.

The groveling was weak, there were numerous typos, this definitely wasn’t perfect…I could go on…but in addition to slaking my rejected mate craving, this captured my attention during a bad reading slump. So for that, rounded up stars, friends.

Decently written. One sex scene. I like angst but I like it more when the angst is built up and internalized, rather than have the heroine say to the hero, "I know you don't find me attractive etc." She said this multiple times throughout the story, and it didn't give me angst but it did feel repetitive, and didn't have the emotional factor. The bad guys are obvious.

This was a lot of fun.

I haven’t read that many shifter romances as they can seem so silly sometimes, and the female characters are just such po mouth, downtrodden doormats. Well yahoo, a 4 star heroine with a spine of steel that is sick of being taken advantage of.

She’s a half-breed, half wolf shifter and half warlock. She’s had a terrible life as she was literally raised by mean wolves and her mother was the ultimate she-bitch, abusive and essentially placing the h in servitude to vampire loan sharks because she was a half breed and the mother hated her for it.

The H comes along to twist the knife, and he’s pretty bad as well for REASONS. Thank you Ms. Snow, while the heroine is hurt and humiliated, instead of naval gazing over the hero and whining about how unworthy she us, she pulls herself up and shows the H and some of the less than companions she doesn’t give a rats rearend about them.

Too many other great reviews that detail the story so all I am going to say is 4 stars for a strong heroine, 4 stars for finally jettisoning her evil mother, 4 stars for a group of interesting characters (tough love vampire mayor, learned wizard, etc), and an evil OW that gets the ultimate in comeuppance.

And since I’ve written half-breed at least twice, I give you the shy and retiring Cher....

Been a while since I read it but this is not a flaky, tropey read that I expected.
I like the h - she's strong, she's not a self-pitying whiner and she keeps going despite all the shyte that comes her way in life - her lousy, soulless, selfish, money-sucking (non)-mother, her mixed inheritance, cruel pack members, a mysterious absent father, a slimy landlord and ofc the cheery on top - a mate who refuses to acknowledge her. Let's not forget that she runs away/ is exiled when she was just 12, and is now lives in a place where she's settled and is kinda happy and then 'her' pack move into the area. (As far I knew packs had their own territories and only rogues moved.)

The alpha of this pack is of course her mate. When they realize the fact, at the outset only, while she's happy, he just goes cool on her and orders her not to tell anyone. Basically rejects the connection.
His excuse as we are told later - he's fighting for control of the pack and is trying his hardest to protect pack females from 'old-fashioned' misogynistic elders - and so wants nothing that can weaken him aka a hybrid mate. A-Hole alert!
“For the first time in my life, I allow my barriers to lower, hope and happiness filling me with a heady combination.
And then I see the expression on Austin’s face.”

He has competition in another alpha who seems to like the h.

Add a skanky, mean girl gang from the pack that tries to make her life hell but she's no doormat now.
Thankfully, few younger 'pups' take to her and so it's not all bad.
“But I refuse to be a victim again. It’s a vow I made to myself all those years ago.”

This goes on plus some fae-world mystery plus murders strewn along that keep the pace going.
The H is just barely redeemed but I love the h. But a virgin at 29!
Puh-leeeeeze!

In a sea of unsatisfactory rejected mate books (with the notable exception of CCW's books of course!), I am actually deliriously happy that I have found this book. The book was mostly perfect for that trope, only missing a few items imho. Jaymin Snow is certainly an author to watch out for. Though the writing could have used more roundedness (and fewer typos, but nothing that a good editing won't soothe and none critical to detract my enjoyment and no cringey writing), I found her style honest with obviously a sincere wish to tell a good romance and with the power to hit so many right emotions for an angst enthusiast like me. I think that for most of the book, my heart was squeezing tight, with more than a few tears in my eyes. Really thank you Jaymin Snow for such an experience!

Mood at end of book = grateful 🥰! 💯 recommended. Despite overall minor flaws, this book is so welcomed for this favorite trope. Why can't there be more of same in other books? I hate it when the h does not end with the H who rejected her, or when the grovel is not enough (or does not exist!).

Edited to P.S.: I just heard this song and it is the perfect song for Seline - Cigarettes by The Wreckers ❤.

Re-read 3-25-2024. Still enjoyed poor Seline's suffering from rejection and abuse, and then FINALLY her HEA.

This story definitely scratched my angst itch!! It has yummy, angsty, rejection goodness; with very rich storytelling. Intriguing characters too.

I love the rejected mate trope and this book really gave me what I wanted from that and it was perfect for my mood. I do think the story itself was a little drawn out, though, and there were a lot of other things going on that took the focus away from Austin and Seline. As a result it also didn't feel like Austin did enough groveling by the end of the book which was a disappointment.

But overall I did like the premise of this book and it gave me what I wanted from the trope.

H moves to Town where h tends bar. She’s half shifter half warlock. They realize they are fated mates. H rejects h but continues to give mixed signals. He’s the alpha… but not reall because the elders control
His pack. The h is beat up a lot. The H rescues her a lot. Drama and magic and angst move to
The hea.

I'm a whore for rejection stories. 😔💟 I love it when awful men do something wrong and then grovel, getting down on their hands and knees.
Did this book give me this? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
No it didn't. However I actually enjoyed this story, so I cannot complain much. Although of course, if it was up to me, I wouldn't have forgiven him AT ALL. Unless he like, died for me or whatever. But I guess, beggars can't be choosers. 😤✋️
Also the action in this felt very anticlimactic. Like the H who was the Alpha of his pack was not in control of his pack, it was the barbaric Elders who decided the rules, especially one specific elder. And these Elders had been ruling for quite some time. It only literally took the whole pack to go against them for their rule to stop. Like is that all it took. 😭 So yes it's understandable why I found it very anticlimactic. Anyways besides that, it was an enjoyable book, although the heroine had no backbone which annoyed me.
Authors should learn to make their heroines more formidable rather then just doormats. 👀🤨

Yay! Finally a good, angsty rejected mate book! It wasn’t perfect, but it was highly entertaining. There are a few plot holes and typos. I enjoyed how pragmatic Seline was in the face of her rejection. She really suffered! I enjoyed the author’s world building and how there are warlocks and possibly…. Mermaids? I think this is an author to watch!

It was so good that I devoured in one night (yes I didn't sleep enough). It was intriguing from the first page. The action, the banter, the sassy fmc and then the pain and the anguish it was all so intense. 4,5 stars because Austin could have been a little more gentle in his rejection but then we wouldn't have that plot.

My second book by this author and I really liked it. It hit the angsty deliciousness spot. The reason for the 4 stars is that the h allowed herself to be a doormat and took abuse from her "mother" from being a small child. She eventually woke up but for me this was something she should have put a stop to as soon as she was old enough to do so.

3.5 Rejected Shiter ⭐’s
I gobbled this one up! It’s not perfect but quite entertaining for the genre (rejected mate) especially compared to others on KU… so I’m rounding up cuz I feel like it deserves it. If you love this trope, then you know, there’re SLIM pickings of good ones out there.

Seline is a 29-yr old werewolf/warlock hybrid bartender living in a shifter town when she meets Austin, the alpha of the new pack in town. The two have an instant attraction but don’t realize they’re mates until Seline is injured… and he promptly rejects her because hybrids are frowned upon.

It takes about four chapters to get going but after that Seline’s misery generates rejection angst for most of the book… which was good because many of these books either gloss over the rejection too quickly or bait and switch us with a tease of rejection… but not-so-good because the book is 400 pages and after a while the “no one loves me – I’m worthless” musings start to lose its potency and become repetitive.

There’re a few minor editing issues but not super distracting. My only real grump was how the “conflict resolution” was handled. IMHO, after hundreds of pages of Seline’s misery and Austin’s continuous rejections… the plot (and me) needed more than the last 10% of the book to settle things. And… I’m assuming because there was such little page-time left, the author tried to justify Austin’s actions for a quick/mostly grovel free conclusion rather than him acknowledging/apologizing … which is ok and all (albeit a smidge lazy), but it didn’t fit and created a huge plot hole because

Bottom Line- If you love/read this genre, you’ll probably really enjoy this if you don’t dig deep because it’s better than the majority of rejected mate books out there on KU. I’m excited because it looks like this whole series is about rejected mates. 😍 I stayed up late to finish, I loved that Seline was dejected (so I could feed off her misery) but not a doormat… she’s sad but sticks up for herself and isn’t begging for scraps. I thought the hybrid angle was unique, but needed more details… like why are wolf shifters prejudice towards hybrids? It would’ve made more sense if they hated warlocks, but they didn’t. It just felt like a shaky plot device that caused major problems when needed then crumbled when it needed to disappear. Regardless, there’s plenty going on (misery, mamma drama, murder, mystery, etc.) to keep the plot trucking along and making it hard to put down.

just no

He was cruel to her right up until the end. No excuse for that. So he felt he had to reject her. Did he have to rub it in her face every day. I think not. There was literally no joy at all in this book. Then at 98% after him knowingly ready to let her die for pack she is just ok with it. Very messed up indeed.

After that last heavy series I just read, I really needed a brainless break of fun. And, although I have seen this author’s name often, I had never tried her. So, when I noticed a rejected mate story from her I decided it was time to try! And, I’m glad I did.

The story starts strong and continues with all kinds of yummy angst. The further in one gets, however, the more infuriating both protagonists become. Even though Saline (FMC) has a very good reason for thinking so little of herself, this reader really wanted her to move on and make her life better already! Instead she continue her self-flagellation throughout the book without ever doing anything about it (she is planning on it, though). Austin (MMC) is quite honestly the weakest Alpha I have ever read (and I have read a ton)! Good grief! What he FINALLY did at the end of the book, could - and should - have been done as soon as he found out Seline was his mate! Instead, he treats her abominably throughout the entire book! And that brings me to my biggest complaint. When a “hero” is as horrid as he was, the groveling MUST rise to the same level when he finally grows a pair. It doesn’t. It is a quickie and she accepts. Yeah, no. We are told it took three months before she actually forgave him but we never see it, so we never feel it.

Still, it absolutely suited my needs for a little easy escape, and the story kept me turning pages. I like the author’s writing style overall so I may try another book at sometime in the future. We’ll see.

”Sometimes. Sometimes I used to imagine what my life could have been like.”

”But I’ve learned that hope isn’t for people like me, and neither are dreams.”

First of all?! How DARE you?! 😭 what the fuck, i don’t think i’ve ever been so heartbroken over a book like this.

80% of this book was just assault after assault to Seline and you expect me to accept the mfer for a good 20% chunk?! You think that would suffice?! I really wanted to give this book a 2 if were going based off on how much i hated Austin but i was so immersed in this book that i felt like thats unjustified lol (this was like a 3.5)

If you’re glutton for punishment; you’ll read this and honestly- if you want to feel like your heart is being stomped, dragged and then put into a grinder, by all means read this 😭

I’m still mad we skipped to HEA without having Austin actually grovelling. While i understood that he did what he had to do- wait nevermind. i really don’t care if his comments and actions were made bona fide or to protect or whatever!, i still wished he was made to grovel. Frankly, Austin doesnt deserve happiness nor her and he can go to hell.

I STILL wished she took the potion instead. I’m still mad as hell. Bah! Alot of emotions in this one 😢 #TeamAntiAustin

Seline lives in Arrow Brooke, a small town where only a handful of people knows what darkness that’s lurks around it. Seline is a hybrid, half werewolf and half warlock. She doesn’t know her father and her mother is an gambling addict that creates mayor financial and scary problem for her.
Enter a new pack of werewolves, and their alpha Austin.

”After years of loneliness, of being unwanted, of being called a mistake, a monster, to find someone who was made specifically for me is like unimaginable dream. I’ve never had anybody look at me and love me for me, know me for me. But Austin will be that person.”

When it’s clear that Austin and Seline are mates, Austin rejects her (several times). He is mean and acts like he is repulsed by hybrids. This breaks her heart, but she shows it by anger.

Seline can’t catch a break. She is violated, hated, assaulted- you name it. But gets right up and continues.
I really didn’t understand why she stayed in that town, I would have left 🤷🏻‍♀️

And by the end, the anger and constant fighting with Austin got exhausting. I would have preferred more grovel to be frankly. But it was never boring 😀

- No cheating
- OW/OM drama: H goes on date with OW
- Triggers: bullying, assault, abuse
- HEA with epilogue seven months later

DNF @ 86%…..This book needs more world building and more descriptions. There was no description on what the FMC looked like, no description of really anything….

Throughout the whole book, the FMC has some serious bad luck, everyday is complete hell. Normally people can catch a break but not this FMC…

The MMC treats her like crap, says some cruel things when he could have explained everything to her from the second they met. Then because he wants to shed a tear, she forgives him. There was NO groveling, nothing!!!!! I would have choose the second offer, PERIODT!!!
POS even nitpicked her outfit..

I thought the FMC was supposed to be a badass? The fuck what this ending?

I only liked the Mayer (or whatever the main vampire’s position is) and Sam. Would love more about them.

I really like the heroine in this (even though she was definitely trapped in a cycle of negative thinking and toxic relationships, to say the least ) and the secondary characters. The H will need to spend eternity making it up to the h.

This was awful. The writing, the grammatical errors, the cringey and repetitive dialogue, the drawn out plot, the weird pacing…The only good part of this book was the premise but not a single part of that premise was well-executed.

I’ve been on a shifter kick since reading The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate, but this book killed that. It may have pushed me into a reading slump too. Skip it.

3.5 stars. Good, but because we only had one chapter for the the H Austin's POV I've reduced my rating. I think more from him would have benefited this book. I know you can get his POV if you sign up with to the author's newsletter, but I don't like that route. Nonetheless I did. Anyways, the h here is beat down the entirety of the book. I mean like 90%. Not gonna lie that's a lot. Even I was feeling rundown like the h. My biggest complaint though is I got zero feeling from the hero towards the herione. I know he was trying to save his pack by being an asshole, but then all of a sudden towards the end of the book he completely changes his mind. Good going dumb dumb. Why not do that sooner maybe? You know before you found out she only had a year to live because of your rejection. Another weak Alpha. Alpha's are not supposed to be this wishy-washy. How do they even run a pack like this? Everyone saw him as a martyr. I saw him as a p*****. Sorry 🙃. Kill the other wolves threatening your domain. 😬 Overall it was intriguing because of the pain the h was going through. I was feeling particularly masochistic this week and had zero problems with it though. There's some violence, but not detailed. The chemistry between the MMCs was non existent from my view even by the end of the book. You can say all the ILY's you want, but if the proof is not in the pudding I can't eat it up. I will be reading the next book though 🙈. The whole series is rejected mates taking a hit 🥲.
