Doctor Grumpy

Rate this book
Who would I kiss, marry, or kill?
The same guy for all three.

I'm a glass-half-full kind of girl.
I love small towns, antique tea pots, and sunshine.
If Dr. Max Ledger had his way,
He'd tear all that down and build a high-rise in its place.

I never should have agreed to be Max's realtor.
He's cocky, entitled, and sinfully gorgeous.
For a cardiologist, he gives new meaning to heartless.

Then he sinks to a new low.
He buys the cute Victorian house I want for myself...
Just to demolish it.

When we’re trapped together in a freak storm,
Max gives me the shock of the century.
Turns out he's sweet, protective, and VERY good with his hands.

I should stay away, but I can't.
Because the more I see of his wounded but tender heart,
The more I fall for him.

But we could never be more than enemies.
Broken guys crush your heart.
Or do they?

This full-length standalone is packed with heart and heat. No cheating or cliffhangers!

It was an okay read. Not something I would go back and reread again. I found I wanted to smack their heads together and just yell at him to get the fuck over it. But it was a fun read.

This is a book that you'll enjoy as it's overflowing with drama and angst. They're opposites in every way, she's a realtor who loves tradition, antiques and small town life. He's a grumpy cardiologist who loves loves the high life. What happens when purchases the Victorian home she loves and he wants to bulldoze it? What happens when they get stranded together by a storm? What happens when she sees another side of him. This is a fun read that's hard to put down. I thought this romance was cute and so much fun. Penny and Max are opposites and don’t get along at all. However, their chemistry pulls them together and they struggle with this love-hate relationship until to turns more into love. I really liked both characters though Penny can be a bit immature and Max is just plain grumpy and a jerk at times. However, you can’t help but to fall in love with them and hope that they get their HEA,.

This was a good read. Max moves away from the city. He isn't really up for the small town life though. He meets Penny and she is helping him find a place buy. These two butt heads a lot. However, they fall in love and they get their happy ending.

Finally! The book that drew me to this series in the first place. When I read the description for this book, I knew I had to read it. I would have only read it first, had it not been part of a series. I thought I’d check it out because the stories might co-mingle together, and they did. This was probably my favorite out of the three. I always like how the man’s ways get changed and turned around because of a woman and that’s exactly what happened with Max. I didn’t like him at first, I was right there with Penny. I thought he was a jerk, conceited and rough around the edges. Not only that, he was rude and thought he wasn’t worthy of a small town. I grew frustrated with his motives, first he was a jerk and rude, the next minute he was sweet, kind and thoughtful. Like Penny, I didn’t know what to make of him. I thought that to go from one personality trait to another is a red flag and wasn’t sure how his story would get played out. I felt a part of the journey with Penny, getting to know him and trying to understand him and what caused him to be this way. I felt so much character development that made me drawn to the book, I just wanted to know him and get to know more about Penny. The ultimate theme of this book was trust. Penny and Max had been burned in their lives before meeting each other making it hard for them to open up to people. It was definitely apparent in Max and I saw it in Penny too. Max was the most jaded from his experience and I would even say changed him for the worst if the beginning of the book is apparent. I loved reading about how their walls were slowly coming down when they were learning to trust each other. Their intimate moments were wonderful to read about because it made them both vulnerable. I enjoyed reading about it and it is what got me to like them even more. I couldn’t put the book down and kept wanting to know what would happen and it stayed that way throughout the whole book, even when Max hadn’t shown his true colors and self yet. This story was a great way to close out the series and I’m glad I read them all.

Grumpy Doctor is the biggest understatement of a title ever. When we first meet Dr. Max Ledger, he is rude, obnoxious, condescending and an elitist. He has just relocated from the big city of Atlanta to the small town of Peachwood, GA. According to Max, Atlanta has everything and Peachwood has nothing; no museums, no art galleries, no ultra-modern buildings and no culture. But what it does have is Penny Wallace. Penny is a successful real estate agent who is happy living in Peachwood and doesn’t want to hear anybody talk trash about her home.

Max has just relocated from Atlanta when he got a job as a cardiologist at the local hospital, which happens to be the same hospital his cousin Barrett (Doctor Daddy) works for. He wanted a clean break from his old life after a bad breakup. Trying to settle into his new world, Max decides to buy a house. Of course, Penny becomes his realtor. They mix like oil and water and can barely stand being in the same room. Well, they cross the fine line between love and hate and then cross it again and again.

Penny is also recovering from a bad breakup and trying to move on and find love again. Her boyfriend dumped her in a horrible way and she is still wondering if the fault was in her. Both Max and Penny have had their hearts broken and trust shattered. The question is can they get past their old hurts and learn to trust again.

While I enjoyed this story, I had a real problem with Max. He was just sooo rude and sooo obnoxious that it’s surprising Penny was willing to look at him a second time. This is the third story in the Doctors Down South series and complements the first two. I would like to see this series continue, but I don’t know how many more cousins who are doctors are looking to move from big cities to the small town of Peachwood.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

There really is a fine line between hate and love
Dr. Grumpy by Crystal Monroe is an entertaining and engaging grumpy-sunshine romance. Max and Penny are about as opposite as opposites can be and Max compounds his grumpy attitude with snide, insulting comments every time these two encounter each other. And these two encounter each other frequently. Each encounter raising the tension and turning up the heat like a pressure cooker ready to combust.
The plot takes this couple and throws them both for a loop, neither Max nor Penny able to understand what the actual draw to one another is. The perpetual antagonism between the two only seems to increase the magnetism until it’s simply futile to resist.
The anger these two feel is palpable and almost seems unrealistic until hot doctor with the grumpy attitude finally starts to change his tune. Penny is completely confused, of course, but accepts the olive branch of sorts. After that, it becomes an emotional ping pong match on top of the frequent steamy interludes. It goes so well, it seems too good to be true, and I found myself just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Well, Max doesn’t just drop the shoe, he punts it, refusing to listen, reflect or communicate! Dr. Grumpy returns a thousand-fold!
Overall, Dr. Grumpy is a wonderful, loving and sweet guy underneath all the hurt who is perfect for Penny. With the expected HEA, Penny is strong and so brave with her heart.

Letting Go of the Past . . .

Penny Wallace was trying to get her roommate Enzo Cesari to block Brandon’s calls and texts. They had split up and Brandon was being very hateful in rude texts. Enzo reminded Penny that she also should get over her ex Jonathan who had left her over a year ago to tour Europe without her. The two roommates were a good pair, definitely unlucky in love and commiserating about the lack of decent men in their small town. So they decided to go out and get dinner.

Waiting in line for pizza, Penny saw her best friend’s husband walk in. Behind him and chatting with him was the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. When introduced, he didn’t say much. But as they chatted about the pizza being the best anywhere, he made a snarky comment about their holding up the line in a definitely rude way. And every time he opened his mouth, his hostility poured out. (Not my favorite character already.)

Off to a rough start, both Penny and Max had some deep issues with trust. Penny’s refusal to get over her ex kept her lonely and incapable of moving forward. Max’s refusal to let his ex’s betrayal go and find the one who would love him would hold him back as well. Could the two of them, despite their constant antagonism, let their hearts lead the way? Could they open up to a HEA and the future they both long for?

Who hasn't been hurt in a previous relationship that's caused some kind of trama that makes you build that wall around your heart that you don't want anyone to get past? Well, if you have been, like the majority of us have, you will want to read this book. It's all about breaking down that wall and letting people in, as scary as that can be. The best part about this story, both main characters are fighting with that feeling, whether they know it or not.

I really enjoyed this book! The constant back and forth between the main characters kept me glued to the pages. Max and Penny had an undeniable chemistry that you could feel while reading. They had less than enjoyable first meeting that set the tone, and I loved it! And how they got thrown together, it made me giggle. The misunderstandings between them was pure entertainment but again, their chemistry was off the charts.

This was a great read, and it was nice seeing the Dage and Barrett from her previous book, Doctor Daddy which I loved, play such an integral part in Max and Penny's relationship. It all tied in perfectly.

You should really grab this book and give it a read.

Max meets Penny when he moves to town and visits a local pizzeria with his cousin. Max has escaped the city as he is running away from his ex who cheated on him.
Penny thinks Max is a jerk, even though he is the hottest guy she has ever seen.
Penny is a realtor and unfortunately Max needs to find a house, so she ends up stuck with him. He doesn't like any of her suggestions and is thinking of asking a colleague to take over with him.
Max's colleague advises him to get to know Penny better over drinks, but their drinks turn into much more and they end up sleeping together.
This helps them get along better until Max decides to buy Penny's dream house and demolish it to start again.
However, Max is not the only one with an ex they'd rather forget, what happens when Penny's creepy ex turns up in town and they get stranded in a snowstorm. Could this bring them closer.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend reading it.

Third book about the doctors of Peachwood hospital. This is a stand-alone novel, but features characters from the previous books. Realtor, Penny initially meets Max (a cousin of a doctor friend) when collecting a pizza and their initial contact does not go well. He thinks she is judgemental and rude and she thinks he is an arrogant ass! I liked the way they have both been burned in love and this has coloured their judgement of the opposite sex. When he buys her dream house for the purpose of knocking it down, sparks really fly. I loved the sassy way she readily takes on this grumpy doctor who’s always convinced he’s right. Throw in being stranded in a freak snowstorm and the return of her creepy, persistent ex and the sparks soon turn to steamy encounters. A good romantic read with a satisfying HEA as they both realise that what they thought they were looking for wasn’t what they needed at all!

Two Hearts Learning To Beat As One -
Max had sworn off relationships because of the pain he suffered in the past. On the other hand, even though Penny had suffered a broken heart from her last relationship, she was still looking out for her Mr Right. Their first interaction ended in hostility, but fate brought them back together again, which led to a lot more antagonistic and sizzling sexual encounters. Unfortunately, even though spending time together ignited the sparks that was burning between them, their journey to a happily wasn’t a smooth ride.

When I started reading the story I thought it would just be a mundane romantic story, but boy was I wrong. I actually felt like I was watching the Mens Wimbledon Finals, with all the back and forth between Max and Penny. I urge you to prepare yourself for one heck of a rollercoaster ride as you read this awesome book.

I received a free copy of the steamy Peachwood, Georgia set novel Doctor Grumpy: An Enemies to Lovers Romance: Doctors Down South book three: Penny and Max by Crystal Monroe, and this review was given freely.
Family, reputation, friends, and fate throw them together but disillusionment, jealousy, and returning exes threaten their fragile bond.
A lesson in sensitivity training and trust. This is an instant attraction romance of opposites where the couple is strongly attracted but verbally repulsed.
Sparks fly when the disillusioned, bitter, and rudely opinionated recently single cardiologist Max Ledger must seek the help of the vivacious, vintage-loving real estate agent Penny Wallace to find him a forever home.
18 + for steamy scenes

This is the 3rd book in this series, and this is Max and Penny’s story. Max is a cocky, sexy, grumpy, cardiologist, who has just moved into town, and he hates small towns. Penny is a realtor who is a ray of sunshine, and she reluctantly agrees to help Max in his search for a home, these two butt heads from the start, and are complete opposites, until they are stranded together during a freak storm. Can these two move on from enemies / lovers? This is a well written store which has emotions, family, trust, intense chemistry, friendships, humor, witty banter, and love, which lead to an entertaining page turner.

Crushed Hearts

A heart-wrenching novel to read of a cardiologist, Max who moved into a small town to escape his break-up with his fiancee, Emily, in Atlanta. He meets Penny who has lived in Peachwood, for a short-time already embracing the small town charm unlike Dr. Max Ledger! Starting on the wrong foot, these 2 rub each other the wrong way. Calling a truce, they learn more about each other. Short-lived truce as their pasts interfere & taints their growing fondness for each other. Two opposites, like water & oil, don't mix but can these 2 overcome their differences & see they are more compatible in having a second chance in having a HEA?

A lengthy novel but is so worth reading!

I do live a good enemies to lovers romance, but sometimes it's really hard for me to get past just how nasty the main male character starts out. And Max is the definition of nasty.. Gorgeous, a great heart surgeon, but nasty.

And it all get a aimed at Penny. She is a super sweet, hard working woman who puts up with an incredible amount of snark before Max starts to soften up.

Lots of tension - both in the form of arguments and sexy times. A lot for them to work through to possibly become a loving couple. Can they manage it??.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Penny Wallace & Max Ledger. From the moment these two meet they are like oil and water. When Max needs a house Penny is his realtor. Penny can't believe she got the guy who has treated her so poorly without even getting to know her. The more they get to know one another the more they find they might not dislike each other as much as they thought. Will they find a HEA or will they end up driving a wedge between them forever?

Another amazing story by this author. i would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Love and Hate....and maybe both at the same time

Doctor Grumpy is the third book in the Doctors Down South series. I loved the beginning of the book blurb....."Who would I kiss, marry, or kill? The same guy for all three.". This made me laugh and intrigued me. I am happy that I grabbed a copy of this book as it was a delightfully entertaining story filled with all sorts of satisfying goodness.

This is my first book by this author.

Penny and Max come from two big breakups and can’t trust easily. Both were meant to be their forevers. But, this does not justify the snobbiness and attitude that Max had going on.

I was not a fan of Max, the constant hot and cold towards Penny and the town made his character unlike-able.

Penny is sweet, has a nice roommate, works her tail off and then Max comes along. I think their chemistry was more enemy than lovers.

This is one of those books you can't put down before you finish. Penny and Max have both been hurt in the past and have trouble trusting. Once they get over all their misunderstandings and jealousies they begin to put their lives back together, getting their HEA. Penny was a strong yet vulnerable main character. Max made for a gorgeous, swoony main character with minor flaws. It was nice to read about characters who had realistic emotional problems that they worked out as mature adults.

Sparks fly between Penny and Max when they meet. Both are struggling with how their exs' treated them, so they have some trust issues. Max gets referred to Penny when he needs to start his search for a home. Its not long before things are heating up between them. Can they work past their issues to be together?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. It's a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Max is a grumpy cardiologist with a broken heart. After he finds out that his fiancé was having an affair, he moves to a small town where he meets Penny. Penny also is healing from a broken heart and the two have a wild night together. After their steamy night together, neither one can keep their mind off of the other.

This book has it all: conflict, angst, laughter, sexy times. A long but enjoyable read, I would recommend this book for the romantic at heart who is looking for a HEA.

Oil and water come to mind when thinking about Max and Penny, the two main characters, who both annoyed me at times initially. Although by the end of their story I found myself liking them both despite his rudeness. The storyline held my interest as there was just enough drama and misunderstandings to keep me turning the pages of my Kindle. The chemistry between them was undeniable despite or maybe because of their squabbles.

Penny and Max both have plenty of trust issues. They like each other as long as they communicate with each other. He is so rude and jumps to conclusions and doesn't trust. I loved the storyline there was drama, bickering and misunderstanding but they have great chemistry together. Will they be able to work towards their HEA? Was an amusing story.

Dr Grumpy is a good story about a doctor with an irritating personality and a realtor who doesn’t get along with him and especially when he wants to buy the house she has been wanting for herself. The plot is excellent, but I got tired of the two of them not getting along. I was ready for the two of them to kiss and make up way before they were. I usually love Crystal Monroe’s books. Wish I loved this one more.

Max moved to Peachwood after his relationship in Atlanta ended on a sour note. He was grumpy, condescending, and rude believing everything about small town life was inferior. Penny called him out for his behavior. She opened his eyes to the beauty around them. Past doubts and hurt can ruin any relationship without communication.

The power of love can change the grumpyest of them all, and Max certainly is livIng proof of that.

The village of Peachwood just had the magic touch for whoever moves there and there is no exception.

You will enjoy this love story as the characters go through upheaveals, challenges and finally overcome and find there HEA.
