Zodiac Assassins #1
Lyon's Roar - Large Print Edition: Zodiac Assassins Book 1
Twelve Zodiac Assassins.
Forged in the Darkness of the InBetween,
Ruled by the Shadow Side of their Stars,
The Only Hope for the Light of Humanity.
The InBetween, a subterranean haven created by the goddess Hecate for persecuted paranormals and ruled by twelve formerly-human princes, has been hidden for centuries, their numbers growing, and their hatred for humans festering. So when paranormal children are stolen, and the evidence implicates humans, the paranormals are called to rise out of the darkness and into the light to get retribution.
Imprisoned, with the demon soul attached to his own soul close to taking permanent possession, Zodiac Assassin Lyon jumps at the chance to earn his freedom by retrieving three women from the human world. But when the other Zodiacs try to steal his prize, Lyon must secure the women and run.
When foundling Persephone Payne is attacked by one man then rescued by Lyon, the monster plaguing her nightmares, she is thrust into a supernatural world beyond imagining and forced to rely on Lyon to protect her and her sisters by choice, not by blood. But, can she safeguard her heart from him?
After Persephone’s fate is finally revealed, Lyon must choose between the reclamation of his soul or saving her and the love he doesn’t believe he deserves.

Artemis Crow's first novel is a lusty (double emphasis on the lusty), roller-coaster of a series beginnings. Lyon is a prisoner in a complex world of torture and intrigue and his only way free is by kidnapping three Texan women and bringing them back to his father and the witch Circe. But things become complicated when Lyon falls for Persephone, one of the women. Lyon and Persophone find themselves trapped in a plot that threatens, not only to destroy them personally... but open the gates of hell. Can they find a way to save the world? Or is it too late?
While the, er, lustiness, was a bit strong for romance-lite readers like myself (my taste tends more towards the Hallmark movie-style romance), Lyon's Roar was an enjoyable book that is a strong start to a robust new series.

Lyon’s Roar was packed with interesting and imaginative characters, especially the hunky Zodiac Assassins. This first book in the series sets the scene introducing an underworld realm where paranormals reside away from humans. There’s a lot going on in this action-packed story with strong characters you just want to know more about. Artemis Crow has done a great job and I can’t wait to pick up the next book in this dynamic series.

This book is incredible, a fantasy world like no other I've read. The creativity and world-building alone are worth the read, layer in incredible and rich characters, and a love story that is unexpected and wow! Artemis Crow is incredible.

This was such a fun book to read! I enjoy the humor and sarcasm in the characters personalities. The assassins are sexy and deadly with lots of action and list through the story. Will definitely pick up the next Zodiac Assassins book next!

This is the first book in a new series and new author for me.
This story is set in a world not unlike ancient times. But it’s inhabitants aren’t human.
The goddess Hecate created this works for the paranormals that were persecuted by humans.
They hide away, they stay away from human. They aren’t to be trusted!
Persephone never expected to be a casualty of war! But being captured and terrorised by creatures from her nightmares have her questioning her sanity!
She’s nothing special, and nor are her friends (well they are more like sisters) so she can’t understand why she’s being fought over!
There has to be an explanation….
Lyon is a warrior (a little like a gladiator) fighting to please the crowds! Raised to do as he’s told.
So when he’s sent out to capture three human woman by his father, Lyon doesn’t know why, and at first doesn’t really care.
The author brought this world to life with her descriptive words.
It ms the first book in the series, so a lot of the book is dedicated to building a story and background for the characters.
But it doesn’t get bogged down with too much information.
The sights and sounds were captured for me to enjoy and wince at.
The characters were just amazing, I really liked Persephone.
Lyon took a little time to warm up to.
The story starts off strong and continues all the way to the last page.
Mystery surrounds the reasons why Persephone and her friends were taken.
There are two sides that are looking to claim her.
Loved the interaction between Persephone and Lyon.
Lyon doesn’t think he’s good enough for love, and has a hard time believing anything this good can last!
If you like your book with plenty of steam, then I think there will be enough to keep you entertained.
Persephone and Lyon become a force to be reckoned with, but is he doing this for the greater good? Or will he still have her and her friends over to his father?
If he does, then he gets his soul back, but he loses his new found love forever!!
That was a pretty good first book, and I have to be honest, I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Artemis Crow's Zodiac Assassins. Amazed at how good this was. Picked up at an NH “Smart Bitches” gathering. Think “Promise of Fire” meets “Call of Crows”. Excellent fantasy world building, array of characters for sequel bait, longer story arc built in to self contained story. Plus a breadth of family dynamics both blood and found. Eager to get more of this series.

Lyon's Roar is the first book in the Zodiac Assassins series and the first book I have read by this amazing and creative author. It is about a Zodiac Lyon from the InBetween, a subterranean haven for paranormals He is given a mission by his father to capture 3 women. He knows nothing about them or why his father wants them. In his quest to bring the women back to the InBetween, he comes upon the stolen paranormal children. The children and all the different types of characters add so much to this exciting and captivating story. Will Lyon be able to understand the powers these three women have or be able to protect them from his father and the witch. It is a very fascinating action-packed story with so much to it, that you will not be able to put down. I love this brilliant author's work and look forward to reading more.

Lyon's Roar is the first book in the Zodiac Assassins series, and it's a thrilling fantasy that keeps you engrossed from beginning to end. The writing is rich and delightful to read. Artemis Crow does an excellent job at creating vivid, flawed characters and a plot that sucks you into her imaginary world of the InBetween. The world building in this fantasy is detailed and clever. There is action, adventure, mystery, and romance. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series to find out what happens next.

A world alive with danger and darkness
It took me a few pages to gear my mind to the world and as I fell into the spell it created, I found myself lost in a thrilling tale. A great storyline, twisted along with subplots, wrapped up with a glorious bow and hand delivered to my senses. I cannot wait to dive into book two of the series and I am so glad I picked this one up. Demons, magic, hope, and personalities larger than life. A thrilling read and I highly recommend this one. Kudos, Artemis, on a wicked imagination set loose within these pages.

Excellent.
Wow! What a great book. It reached out and grabbed me by the throat. If you like dark enthralling fiction this is the book for you. Non stop action, dark steamy flawed characters looking for redemption or not in some cases, and twists and turns abound. Best yet it is the start of a series which is a true story not just a stand alone that goes no where. I personally can’t wait to find out where book two is going to take me.

Wow oh wow 10\10
Holy guacamole! I haven't read anything this enthralling since Garth Nix' Sabriel! Thanks so much to Crow for writing such an amazing fantasy. Could not put this one down. I love the world you've created and all the characters in it. Onwards to book 2. If you love demonic romance stories or anything to do with mythology on Grecian folklore you will love this series!

Violence, hope, and chaos abound
I really liked the concept of this story. The Zodiacs are an interesting group- bits and pieces revealed but definitely a lot more to come. The different types of paranormals was vast. There is plenty of action, multiple characters perspectives, deception, scheming, rescues, and lots of dysfunctional family affairs.

Opposites attract
Lyon's aversion to light and Persephone's aversion to darkness make them the perfect match. They give each other what is needed for the battle they face.

Absolutely amazing book. It kept me on my toes. Very quick pace with very little slow moving parts. Great fictional book with little tease and some fun tension between characters. I was obsessed!!!
