I’ve been really enjoying this manga and it was a 5 star read so far, I particularly love the dynamic between Naruse and Yuki, it produces a lot of tension, butterflies, and often laughs.
However, this volume I had some issues with.
So far, Naruse has been very bold with showing Yuki how he feels towards her. But one particular scene in chapter 16 where he kisses her in the club room and she shoves him away, yet he continues to grab and kiss her made me a little uncomfy.
I don’t know what to think of the scene. On the one hand, I’m considering that maybe the author intended for the interaction to showcase their dynamic (him being infatuated with Yuki and her still denying to admit the same for him, not wanting Naruse to know she likes him), and that she does enjoy him kissing her, hence the blushing. But on the other hand, when a girl pushes you away. She telling you to stop.
There was also another scene at the lockers where he slammed his hand onto her locker from behind to get her attention bc he was upset and wanted to talk to her, buy when he let go it whacked her in the head and he just…walked away. That was kinda unnerving to me. These red flags just keep popping up and it’s scaring me!! 😭
I don’t know, I’m conflicted. I really want to enjoy this manga, the art style is beautiful and the plot is so promising, so I keep reminding myself that its just fiction; I know that these behaviours in real life are not to be tolerated, and in the case of a manga to take it more lightheadedly as it probably wasn’t meant to be viewed so deeply. But I still wish he respected her boundaries more and stuff.
I hope this isn’t a recurrence because it was becoming a new fave. :(
