Inheriting her beloved aunt’s farm feels like coming home for Katie Schwartz. Unfortunately, it means sharing the farm with handsome—and irritating—Amish widower and daed Levi Miller. Compromise feels almost impossible. But this property isn’t quite the Christmas gift they expected. Now they’ll have to work together to save their inheritance…and the love they didn’t see coming.

This was a fun book for me and I really enjoyed it. I grabbed it at Walmart the other day and so glad I did!. I loved how the characters grew and developed through the trials and what appeared to be a real obstacle to venture through. It's fun reading and I was happy that I took the time to read it. It's a sweet and happy Christmas story. It's a feel good kind of book!
This is a new to me author and I have already preordered book 2 in this series. I very much liked this book, the characters are wonderful and it didn’t take me long to really be captured by Katie Schwartz, Levi Miller and Levi’s young son Simon. In this story line you will see how God’s plan for us may or may not be our plan and even thou we may not embrace charge along our path, if we keep our faith in him the road will prove to be more than we ever believe could be possible. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
1) Put Melissa Endlich's name in the dedication. This immediately indicates that a) there will be NO editing, b) the story won't have even been read by the publishing company before it went to press, and c) the writing can be as garbage as humanly possible and still 'pass muster'... because Endlich has no ability to *BE* an editor, and doesn't care WHAT she puts on the shelves, as long as she meets quota.
2) Write a book about two people inheriting half of the same place, and then have them argue non-stop about it. "It's MY house. It's MY inheritance. She's MY grandmother. It's MY door." It's. My. Door. Are you even *KIDDING* me right now?????
3) Make the heroine Amish, single, 25+ and never had a beau. Because that happens. (((NEVER.))) The Amish are ALLLLLLL about family/marriages, and this. would. NOT. happen. Ever. It's ridiculous beyond words. They'll actually SEND their daughters to other states and match them with people decades older in order to create 'blessed unions'. This is beyond fiction - it's absurd fantasy.
4) Cover the heroine with mud, slime, road grit, dust, and sweat, and then have the hero ride up and tell her how lovely she is. Have I mentioned Melissa Endlich edited this book?
GAHHHHHH!!!!! I'm sorry, but that's THE MOST overdone literary Amish trope, ever - the inheriting of HALF of an estate in order to get the H/h together. And yeah. We know where it's going. But it's NOT pleasant getting there. It's not Loving, and it's not Inspiring, Love Inspired staff.
I can't even. I chucked it at a wall. Please... stop insulting our intelligence with tripe.
The older offerings were good. I just finished a four-star Irene Brand story that was unique, well-written, and had some real magic to it. But this newer crap is the same thing over and OVER and OVER and it's tedious, shallow, mind-numbingly stupid and awful.
I just finished reading An Amish Christmas Inheritance by Virginia Wise. This is the first book in her new Bluebird Hill Series. An Amish Christmas Inheritance is a heartwarming Amish story about unwanted surprises that God sometimes sends our way and about learning to love and trust. You will fall in love with characters Katie Schwartz. Levi Miller and Simon Miller. This story will capture and hold your attention from the very first chapter until the very last page! Once you start reading you won't be able to put the book down! I kept saying I'll read one more chapter, but I just couldn't stop reading! This story begins with Katie leaving Indiana and traveling to Bluebird Hills which is a rural Amish Community in Pennsylvania. The reason for Katie's travels is because her Aunt Fannie had passed away and left her a farm and gift shop. Her aunt had also thrown a monkey wrench into this inheritance. She'd willed equal shares of this property to Katie and some other man that Katie had never met. This story was very well written! There are many scenes in this story that were totally surprising and unexpected! Secrets are revealed that are surprising too! I highly recommend that you read this book! I guarantee that you won't be disappointed! I also wanted to share that I have read many Amish fiction books and that Virginia Wise is a new author to me. This is the first book that I have read that she has written. (She has written other books). I look forward to reading more books by her in the future! After reading this one book she has become a favorite author that I want to follow and read all her books!
What a fabulous book! The characters all mesh so beautifully all the way through the book. It is wonderful to watch them grow. You’ll get some good laughs when Katie and Levi get out of sorts while trying to handle her aunt’s wishes in her will.
And Eliza working on how to speak nicely to customers is just hilarious. She adds another whole layer in the story.
It’s hard not to want to be in control all the time. Katie and Levi have to learn this while also being under a great deal of stress. There are so many wonderful takeaways from this story and it leaves you feeling so uplifted!
A very sweet romance. So happy Harlequin has this line of books, and Virginia Wise in particular! Her books always feel like reading a cozy Hallmark movie...and this one is no different!!! I love it
