My entire life I’ve felt like I’ve been paying a penance. I never thought I deserved this. A rockstar in one of the biggest bands in the world. My life consisted of parties and women until one thing changed everything. I was going to be a dad. I never wanted a family. I was fine on my own. Until her. Until I couldn’t get enough. Until she was the one thing always on my mind. She is changing the way I think. Giving me a new outlook on life. One I can almost taste. But things can change in the blink of an eye. And promises made can turn cruel. I should have known I’d never get a happy ending.
Tori Fox is the author of romantic suspense and contemporary romance with a little bit of angst and a whole lot of sexy. When she isn’t writing, you can find her listening to true crime podcasts as she tends to her plants or singing along to Taylor Swift as she drinks champagne. Tori is living her best life in the magic of New Orleans with her dog.
You can find Tori on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok
Marley and Silas were definitely from opposite worlds. She was the nice church girl that no one paid attention to. He was the bass player of the biggest rock band in the world.
The development of their relationship was not typical and their journey was not an easy one.
Silas might have been a jerk at the beginning but later he won me over. I liked their chemistry and how they both evolved throughout the story.
Tropes: - age gap (10yrs) - irrelevant to the plot - rockstar hero - surprise pregnancy - preacher’s daughter - innocent heroine - opposites attract - reformed playboy - very slight suspense
POV: first person - dual
Type: interconnected stand-alone (book two)
The was a OW bj scene after the hero and heroine had slept together. The only reason I didn’t DNF is bc I’m was already 15% in and I’m trying to reach my reading goal so no time could be wasted, I had to keep going.
This book had ZERO trigger warnings even though there is very big one to mention. SPOILER: The heroine loses the baby and it’s part of the 3rd act conflict.
I would have NEVER picked up this book had I known. The reason I wanted to read this in the first place is because of the pregnancy trope.
Wow! I needed a day or two to write this, I needed to get my thoughts straight. Marley is the good girl, a PK (preacher's kid), and has always done what they asked. After a breakup, her best friend convinces her to go on a night out. Willow chooses the wardrobe, makeup, and activity for the night.
Silas plays bass for Saints and Sinners. He enjoys all the perks of being in the band, but Marley has caught his eye. He is warned to leave her alone; does this make her more attractive?
Both Silas and Marley are broken, but together can they heal? An unexpected gift brings them together but could also tear them apart. The story is full of highs and lows, have a tissue handy. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Once again Tori Fox pulls no punches with this deeply moving and in places difficult to read story, if you like your romances that are all sweetness and light then this spine tingling story won't be for you but if you love raw, real storylines warts and all then Cruel Promises will be the rock star romance for you - tissues will be required and Silas surprised the hell out of me by becoming a complete swoon worthy sexy rocky hero
Marley has always been the good girl, the one that follows her parent's wishes, never goes near anything that could get her in trouble and always lives her life by the church. But being the good girl and living up to all those high expectations is becoming overwhelming... just once she'd like to do something reckless and wild. So, with the help of her best friend she decides to get dressed up, go to a rock star's party and take herself a little walk on wild side. Thinking one night won't hurt, but little does she realize this one little night is about to change her whole life!
The pages of Cruel Promises follow a young heroine named Marley that longs to live her life on her own terms, for so long her parents have dictated her every move, and it's becoming too much, and not at all the life she wants to lead. She'd love to make her own choices and not worry about what her parents or fellow church goers would say... but finding the courage to take that step is a little harder than she anticipated. Good thing she has a best friend who doesn't mind pushing her out of her comfort zone and encourages her to take risks. One being going to a party at a rock stars house and just cutting lose for one night... but then she meets said rock star and she finds herself instantly smitten. Silas is not the type of guy she'd normally go for, but something about his dirty mouth and tattoos speak to her, and makes her crave things she knows she shouldn't... but being wild and taking risks have never looked so good!
I really enjoyed this one, the words grabbed ahold of me from the first page and wouldn't let go... which ultimately lead to a late night of reading, and let me tell you it was SO worth the loss of ZZ's! These two may have been opposites from every angle, but the more time they spent with one another the more they realized how perfect they really were for one another, and I loved watching them discover that fact! Their story was sweet, steamy, emotional, and so good for my heart! If you like rock star romances I have no doubt this one will hit all the right notes for you, the moment you meet Silas and Marley you'll fall head over heels for them! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Cruel Promises was recommended in a newsletter of another author that I read. I enjoyed the excerpt and read the couple chapter preview on Amazon and decided to go for it. I love a good rockstar romance and really enjoy opposites attract. It’s so much fun watching people fall in love with someone they least expect. Silas was a total manwh*re and needed to be knocked down a peg. He’s definitely the hot bad boy rockstar we all drool over and watching him pursue Marley that first night was hot. It was even hotter when he pulled his head out and realized how great Marley is and how right they were for each other. Silas’ backstory is so sad, and seeing how that changed him and how he feels about love makes sense, even though it breaks your heart. The flippant drug use and how blasé he was about stopping didn’t feel realistic to me and didn’t sit right. It didn’t seem realistic, but it was such a small part of the story it didn’t ruin anything for me. I loved Marley. She’s a very relatable and likable character. Seeing her struggle to live up to her parent’s expectations and feeling like a disappointment was a punch to the gut. I wasn’t a fan of her parents but they did redeem themselves in the end. I like that Marley “rebelled” against her upbringing but wasn’t a wild child, she still held on to her good girl image and showed that being good doesn’t mean being perfect. I loved the chemistry and banter with Silas and Marley, I definitely rooted for their HEA. My only real issue with this book is the fact that the big plot point of the book happened at the end of the book. It was a devastating experience and it seemed a bit rushed and glossed over. I actually assumed this was going to be a duet and was surprised everything was wrapped up so fast. I would’ve preferred the book either be longer or like I said even a whole other book to deal with the aftermath. All in all I still enjoyed the book and I want to read the other band members stories. A solid read with a lot of angst, steam and emotion. Definitely worth the read!
This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Tori Fox!
Cruel Promises is the second book in the Saints & Sinners series and tells the story of Silas and Marley.
Cruel Promises was another amazing book by Tori Fox and I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in the Saints & Sinners series. Cruel Promises has a few Romance tropes: Rock Star Romance, Opposites Attract, and Good Girl/Bad Guy, and it was the perfect mix! I really enjoyed getting to know Silas and Marley, and I loved how they both changed throughout the book. I also really liked reading about Jackson and Charlie, from Black Hearts, again!
Cruel Promises is about Silas and Marley. Silas is the bassist of the Saints & Sinners band, and Marley is the pastor’s daughter. Although they’re opposites, their chemistry is amazing. I really liked reading about both characters and seeing how much they started to depend on each other and eventually love each other. This book was really beautiful and I’m so happy that Silas and Marley got their happy ending!
Cruel Promises was a spicy read, but it also talked about emotional stuff. I really enjoyed the mix of both, and Tori Fox did such a good job with this book. Like with Black Hearts, there’s a link to a bonus scene at the end of the book, and damn, you gotta read it! I really enjoyed reading Cruel Promises, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the Saint & Sinners series, Dirty Secrets. This book will be about Knox.
This is the first book I read by the author and I am floored. I was absolutely lost the world she has created and fell in love with her writing. I did not expect the emotions that were pulled out of me.
Marley is sweet and innocent but she is sassy with sarcastic humour as well. I loved her character growth and was in awe with how understanding she was with Silas past. There is much more depth to her character than the pastor's innocent daughter.
Silas seemed like a shallow person in the beginning being the life of party and enjoying his life. But the more I got to know him the more I fell in love with him. No child deserves a childhood like his and his friends. He assumes himself broken but he has do much love in his heart and would go to any extent for his loved one's.
Marley and Silas pulled me deep. There love story is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Everything they lost to finally gain the happiness and love broke my heart. I was eager getting to know them, peeling back each layer especially Silas. Sparks fly from the moment they meet and the spice was enough to melt my kindle. There banter was witty and text msgs were funny.
I'm very much curious to solve the mystery behind the notes which will probably be solved in the next book.
Although, it took time for Marissa and Peter to get around but when they did they were supporting. The parents both Marley and Silas deserved. Willow was one of my favourites and I wanna read her book along with other band members. I also wish Carter West gets a book with all his mystery he has me intrigued.
Cannot wait for the next book where I'm sure Knox is gonna blow my mind.
Thanks to Tori and Wildfire marketing for the advanced copy.
💥Overall opinion: This book quickly shot to #1 on my rockstar chart! It was such an emotional rollercoaster and I couldn't get enough. Tori has a way of sucking you into her books and spitting you back out a total mess...in the best way. I'm obsessed with Silas and Marley.
⛔️Brief Story Summary: Silas is a rockstar and the bass player in one of the biggest bands in the world. His life has consisted of parties and women until one thing changed it all. He was going to be a dad. Marley, the good girl that wasn't his type, appeared out of nowhere and made him rethink everything, giving him a new outlook on life. One he could almost taste. But things can change in the blink of an eye. And promises made can turn cruel.
⚡️POV: Dual POV - Male MC and Female MC
💋Tropes: Rockstar Opposites Attract Dark Past Unexpected Pregnancy Bad Boy/Good Girl Alpha Hero
💣Main Character Rating: Silas - 5⭐ - this man is the WHOLE package. Easily one of my top tens! His character was an extremely loveable, foul-mouthed, dirty talking, rough around the edges, alpha hero with one hell of a personality to match. He was the perfect balance for the FMC. Marley - 5⭐️ - I loved watching her bloom and grow through this book. She starts out sheltered and naive, but by the end, she finds out who she is as her own person and never falters or apologizes for it. Her character development through the story was so exciting to see and I loved how strong and confident she became at the end.
🌶Spice level: 2/5
🚫Closure: I'm a HUGE rockstar romance lover and this book checked all the boxes for me. There was spice, plot, steam, angst, hearbreak, whitty banter, and so much more. This is definitely a rockstar romance I will be recommending to anyone that will listen.Tori, like always, came out swinging. Can't wait to read more!
This is the second book in Tori's down to earth, gritty, angsty rock romance series and it had me glued to it's pages from start to finish. At the beginning Marley is the sweet, innocent, church going girl, living at home with her parents and never straying from the straight line. Silas is the hard drinking, womanizing rock star who lives his life to the max to forget his past. The last thing he expects is a woman like Marley and who would have known that she is what he really needs in his life.
When Marley rebels against her parents and goes to a rock concert with her best friend she never expected to attract the attention of someone like Silas who can get any girl he wants. Why not step out of her comfort zone and have one night of excitement with a rock star so she will always have the memory as she carries on with her mundane life and damn the consequences! Unfortunately the night comes with big consequences which shake both Marley and Silas to the core and their lives will never be the same again.
I loved this slow burn rockstar romance because it was wonderful to see how the two main characters changed before my eyes. Marley becomes so much stronger and determined to accept her life as it is going to be despite the difficulties she knows are coming. Silas surprises even himself as he falls for Marley and becomes the man who will love and support her.
Even though they are complete opposites they really are perfect for each other and their romance is wonderfully sweet and steamy, but don't think that everything runs smoothly to their happy ever after. Nope there are obstacles to overcome and some unexpected surprises towards the end and it's the type of rocker romance that I love, the series so far has been really good and I highly recommend it if you love rockstars falling in love.
To say that Marley was the good girl is an understatement. Marley is the girl that usually follows her parents wishes, stays away from anyone that may not be devoted to the church, always helps out with church functions, worries about what her parents will think when she does something. But is this life what SHE wants? That's the question she starts asking herself. With the help of her best friend Willow they dress up and go out for the night, to a rock star's party. Once she's there, she cannot take her eyes off Silas, and everyone is telling her to stay away from him. But no matter how hard she tries there is a pull between them that neither of them can deny. This one night together changes their whole lives.
I LOVED Cruel Promises. Usually I have to skip a few pages in the beginning of a book, but this one I was captivated from the first page. Silas and Marley's story pulls you in and the twists and turns don't let you out until you reach their HEA. Silas and Marley are complete opposites, he lived a hard life and she has lived the Christian sheltered life. But once they start talking and getting to know one another they realize how perfect they are for one another. How they make each other better, stronger. This book brings out all the feels and sometimes you want to shake Marley and yell What is wrong with you? But you cannot help but fall in love with these characters and you watch them fall for each other. I highly recommend.
Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review
I have to say this installment of the Saints & Sinners was the most TRAGIC love story I have read in a long time and I wish the book NEVER ended !! Silas and Marley were made for each other and Tori’s words made it happen on paper !!
Silas Ford and Marlene Cole were more alike than the opposites they portray on the outside BUT on the inside they both have had loss, hurt and sadness. Being the preachers daughter you would think Marley’s life was simple and perfect but that is on the inside she was lonely.. yes she had her garden and flowers that made her happy but she was missing that spark .. that feeling of being wanted because we all know her ex did a number of her. Is Silas the man to bring her around and see what he sees in her or will she let jealousy and loss make her RUN !!
Silas being the bass player of Saints & Sinners you would think the money, cars and lavish lifestyle make him happy but he too showed on the outside the man whore everyone thought he was BUT deep down on the inside he wanted the family life he never had and WANTED !!
Could these two lost souls BET he system so to speak .. the Rock Star and the Preachers Daughter or will they let it tear them apart ????
I can't say enough how meaningful this book is and it will have you laughing, crying and screaming ALL at once to talk .. get you head in the right space and JUST plain LOVE each other !!
A tale of opposites attract. A good girl and a bad boy.🥰 I've said it before and I'll say it a million times, I am an absolute sucker for a rock star trope. This one was AMAZING! I've honestly never read this specific one before, so I was all for it.
Marley is the definition of good girl. Sweet and innocent church girl. She is actually a pastor's daughter. She's been raised in a cloistered world, always following her parents' orders, never being around anyone that isn't within the church, etc. Then she starts to slowly question if that's what she truly wants out of life. I mean, wouldn't you? I would. Enter bestie Willow. She helps Marley embrace her wild side and they go out to a party at a rock star's house! She meets Silas and she's smitten by the bad boy.
Silas is intrigued by the good girl at a party that she doesn't belong at. So he pursues her. They spend that one night together, everything being absolutely perfect. Alas, life takes them their separate ways until Marley shows up at his door telling him that she's pregnant.
This book had me in its grip from the beginning to the end. This slow-burner is so worth the read. It's a very emotional ride.
Always check the TW/CW: 💥surprise pregnancy
Anywho! Time to wrap this up with the goodies: Read: 4🌟🌟🌟🌟 Spice: 3 🌶🌶🌶 HEA
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
“I think you are that type of girl, Marley. You just don’t want to admit it. You want to be the girl that lets a man ravish you, dominate you. A man that fucks you so hard you see stars and you beg him to stop because the pleasure is too much. You wear this innocent girl act, hiding in the shadows, but that’s not who you want to be. Because that girl wouldn’t have agreed to join her friend for a night out. Dressing up in a leather dress. Painting those sinful lips red. Going to a rock star’s after-party. Making out with him when no one is looking.”
This book was amazing! After reading the first book in the series I knew that this would be a must read! And I was not wrong!
I loved that the FMC Marley is so innocent because of the way she grew up. But also changes throughout the story as she’s not constantly around her parents. Letting you see a new side of her that she didn’t know she could express before she meet Silas. And Silas I loved how you get to see his background more, and see why he does the things he does. I also loved seeing him change from not letting anybody into his life because he was afraid of losing them to caring for Marley.
I highly recommend this book! Especially if you love:
-Rockstar Romance -Unplanned Pregnancy -Innocent FMC -And Lots of Spice!
She should have been off limits. He was told more than once to stay away from her. She wasn’t anyone that he would normally hook up with, so why was she so hard to ignore that night? Why after that night did she stay on his mind? Why when she showed up at his door did, he not know who she was?
She knew that he was out of her league, he was a rock star for Pete’s sake. However, that didn’t mean that the bad boy image was a deterrent to her, oh no, he was a huge beacon to her mind. She knew that her parents would not approve of him, but she couldn’t deny the attraction that night and she knew that she wanted him as bad as he wanted her.
This story was a beautiful, tragic, heart wrenching story. I loved Marley and Silas. They are both such great characters that went through a very hard time in their lives and in their relationship. Marley turned out to be the one woman that could tame the rock star, but could he hold her heart and keep if safe? These two were wonderful and the heartbreak and pain they went through tore my heart out of my chest. I felt so much for them. I love this series and Silas and Marley’s story was as great addition to it. I give this book a 5-star review and I look forward to more in the series to come.
🎸Cruel promises 🎸 By Tori Fox Trope: Rockstar Romance Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Feelings: ❤️5/5 🌶5/5 😭4/5
Sad but full of love
Not just an average Rockstar Romance. Not just an average good girl / bad boy Romance. Silas and Marley meet, see and are attracted to each other. She is the girl with a picture perfect and mostly pure past. He is the bad boy with a troubled, dangerous and sad past. After one night together their paths are not meant to cross again. But fate has other plans. And brings Silas the girl he wasn't able to fully forget into his view. Just Not the way both would have thought or liked it to be. A fateful night could be the chance to change both or their lives and after a Rocky start they take it. As friends first. And then more. But when everythings seems on a way to ride into the sunset, fate comes back. And this time in a terribly painful way. The aftermaths are broken promises, broken hearts and a broken future. And only Marley can save them both. Will she be able to do it? Will she want it? When do you know it is real love you feel? And is then love enough.
When the good girl meets the bad boy rock star, Mary doesn’t stand a chance against Silas. He’s charming, sexy and definitely swoon worthy. Marley is the daughter of a pastor and hasn’t really experienced much in her young life and one night out with her friend Willow changes everything for her. Silas brings out a side of her she didn’t know existed and there’s no way that side of her is going back in the box. Marley is not the type of woman Silas usually goes for, but there’s something about her that draws him to her and that one night of unbridled passion comes with huge consequences for both of them and how they handle it will tell the tale of how their relationship will survive it. I loved how sassy Marley was, the banter between them, the dirty talk from Silas, the moments where he realized that he thinks he loves her, and hopes she feels the same. These two both had their own insecurities, but the passion and heat was undeniable. Their story is one of growth, discovery, standing up for yourself, taking control of your life and also very emotional. This was my first book by this author and I was blown away.
Having read Ms.Fox's work before i've been wanting to pick up more of her books! As soon as i stumbled across the announcement for this one i wanted to read it next. I got right into the Saints & Sinners world. I really liked this story!
Marley and Silas's journey captured my attention! When Marley and Silas's worlds collide, nothing will be the same for these two. The thing is though, can they get through everything together?
I enjoyed the way Marley and Silas got me into this world and the way they were brought together. I didn't quite know how they'd handle things in their lives and when it came to one another which i liked. They had such good chemistry and i felt many things with both Marley and Silas throughout. I just struggled a bit at certain points.
With Cruel Promises, Ms.Fox has created a good read that had me feeling many things all throughout! I am looking forward to Dirty Secrets!
Be sure to read the author's TW in the synopsis.
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
Marley has never strayed from the church path her parents put her on, so she is the epitome of a good girl. These days, she's started to question everything, wanting her own life but she doesn't know how to go about it. Her bestie talks her into going to a party, and she finds herself gravitating towards rock star Silas, and the sparks are flying. They indulge in a HOT time together, and they both think that's that, however, life is funny. Silas didn't have a great upbringing, so he has real demons that he tries to run from with all the partying & women, but Marley is definitely a game changer, however, the path getting to any sort of forever is filled with potholes. Cruel Promises was a story that I couldn't put down for anything once I opened it up, and it really messed with my heart since there's a ton of angst, and a kicker of sweet with heat. Tori Fox has a fantastic writing style that's HIGHLY addictive, and I cannot wait for more of this group! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I absolutely devoured it in one go!!!
Marley is an innocent pastors daughter but deep down she has hidden a wild child.
My goodness Silas was hot, alpha rock star. You would know him from the 1st book in the series. All these men have a past full of secrets. So all in all Silas is the ultimate bad boy..
Well they do say opposites attract..
They were soooo perfect together. I did hate Silas when he was cruel to Marley after she discovered she was pregnant from their one wild night a good girl never should have had. But then my goodness did he redeem himself, I fell in love with him!!!! 😍 What a guy.
The story flowed well and their characters developed brilliantly. I connected with all the characters and felt all the emotions. Oh I cried, laughed swooned and got very hot under the collar. There is a very big trigger so please check it out before hand.
You need to read this book, you will not be disappointed.
Well Tori Fox has truly outdone herself once again and delivered another home run outta the ballpark. Cruel promises was and is the perfect blend of all the things a great romance should be . Dark , raw , gritty , emotionally charged, filled with angst , heartbreaking and heartfelt moments, drama . Tragedy, witty banter , obstacles, twists and turns, wonderfully written characters that are not only so captivating but so very unique and multi layered, not to mention a storyline I can guarantee will grab onto all your emotions so quickly and pull at your heartstrings in ways you will not be expecting. I was literally on the edge of my seat heart beating so fast . There were times I was speechless and others I was crying my eyes out - a true emotional rollercoaster in every sense of the word . And two of my very very tropes - rockstar and opposites attract . It can’t get much better then that . a few seconds ago
Cruel. I don’t think the title of this book could have been more exact. My heart was not ready!!!
Marley and Silas are from two different worlds, yet fall for each other in such an organic way.. after the “surprise”.
She’s been sheltered her entire life, never seeing hardship until recently. He’s been through hell and back and is finally creating a good life for himself, even with the demons in his closet.
Watching them take their time to get to know one another was amazing - I’m happy they didn’t just jump. I loved Marleys quirks and how Silas listened to her. I’m also happy that Marley took time for herself.. it’s needed. Especially after what she went through.
I think the pace of the story was perfect, the character growth was evident, I cried and laughed.
I’m so happy with the ending.. I couldn’t have asked for more. I can’t wait to see what’s next, especially when some questions have not been answered.
Marleys best friend talks her into going to an after party, dressed like a fashionista, red lips, to a party thrown by rockstar’s. She’s a pastor’s daughter and she’s been dumped by her boyfriend so she needs to have some fun. The night of fun turns into the fun that keeps on giving. Silas takes one look at this girl and this hard rocker can’t be bothered with anyone else at his party. He simply can’t stop seeking her out. I love that she’s clueless to how he feels about her and he’s working hard to not feel anything but friendship, this is definitely a battle he’s going to lose. This sweet church going girl is going to win this guy over without trying very hard, it’s hilarious. I loved this story, it’s romantic, steamy and hot. It has an epically romantic ending which I loved, I’m giving it five stars and highly recommend it. Can’t wait for book three.
I really enjoyed this rockstar, surprise pregnancy, opposites attract romance!
Marley is a pastor's daughter and was raised in a very religious household. She meets bad boy Silas at his mansion after his band's show. Her best friend warned her away from Silas and yet they're both intrigued by each other.
They share a steamy, one night and everything changes afterwards.
Their love story was not an easy one. They had to work through a lot of obstacles before they got their HEA. But, it was worth it in the end. I had so many feelings reading their book. I laughed, rolled my eyes and cried. I wanted to shake Silas at times, but I also felt happiness. He won me over though!
I thought this book was well written and fast-paced. I was definitely hooked from the first chapter until the very end. It was tragic, emotional, yet romantic. Check the CW/TW.
Marley and Silas were so good for one another. He was a rockstar, playboy who partied hard and had drugs and groupies galore. Silas came from a less than ideal upbringing whereas Marley was a shy, naivé daughter of a preacher with a heart of gold. They were complete opposites.
Marley and Silas' differences is what made them so great together because they each brought something out of the other. Their chemistry was smoking hot. What started out as a one night stand transformed into a love that was tested through good times and bad.
This story was full of warmth and steam. A story of Heartache, Restoration and Finding One's Self. Marley and Silas finally got their HEA but it was a tough journey getting there.
Marley is the good girl, the pastor's daughter, who has dreams no one knows about. When her best friend talks her into going out she's about to have her life changed. Silas is the rock star who has women flocking to him, he will do what he wants and when he wants. When these two meet sparks do fly, but everyone is warning him to stay away. What starts as a one-night stand turns into so much more. Now, these two have to navigate their privacy and new reality and be able to trust each other. Sometimes fate just loves to give these two more than they can take. Can they love one another or will they just do what needs to be done to live? And when devastation happens can they pick up the pieces of their lives and move on? This book will make you laugh and cry and just warm your heart.
In all honesty, I'm not sure what to think about Cruel Promises. Mostly because I didn't think that the title fit the story and I struggled with the pacing and some plot points.
Marley and Silas were definitely the quintessential good girl/bad boy combo -- the pastor's daughter gets knocked up by the manwhore rockstar from a one night stand. Things do not go well when Marley shows up to tell him that she's pregnant, but Silas eventually does right by her. And a genuine friendship forms between them that then turns romantic.
But I just never felt that *sizzle* that I wanted to between Marley and Silas. And when things between them fell apart toward the end of the story, I felt like it was a bit disjointed and then very rushed when they reunited. I just wanted more from these characters and the story, and I felt like it was a letdown.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
This book was so freaking good. It was one of those books that you say 1 more chapter and then you are up till 2am still reading (opps). This is the second book in this rockstar series and let me tell you I honestly liked it better than the first.
This book had everything from bad boy to good girl romance, heartbreak, & watching 2 opposites fall for each other. I was heartbroken when Mar and Si lost the baby but honestly the epilogue made my heart explode. This book gave me some great backstory about both characters. Let me tell you this book was 🌶🌶🌶 but in a great way.
Overall I don’t want to give too much away but I highly recommend this book and the series overall.
Can’t wait till number 3 comes out ❣️
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Overall, I enjoyed this one. It was a quick read with how well the dialogue (and flirting) flowed between Silas and Marley. There were a few plot points that felt off but that twist was just so different my heart went out to the characters. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the, Saints & Sinners series
