She starts to experience a series of horrific flashbacks to the cabin, and she starts seeing the faces of her tormentors, even though she knows they're all dead. After a terrifying encounter in a dark street, she's left wondering whether some of the others from the cabin might have survived.
And then, just as she thinks things can’t get any worse, Anna learns that her best friend has disappeared, seemingly kidnapped in the exact same way. This is the 2022 edition of the original 2016 book.

"There's no life after the cabin. Only madness."
Such a crazy story! That's not an insult, mind you. Anna escapes from her harrowing ordeal at the cabin and spends three years under psychiatric care. Now, she is ready to finally return home. Or is she? She's been seeing blinking red camera lights everywhere she goes. She's having conversations with people who may or may not be there. Now she's second-guessing everything that happens to her, unable to differentiate reality from delusion. When her friend goes missing, she feels responsible for endangering her life. But is she more to blame than she can imagine?
Sucked into the paranoia, I didn't know what to believe. Is Anna seeing ghosts? Is someone trying to drive her mad? Or is she already insane? This was a great, suspenseful story. It kept me guessing until the end. Even after the end, actually. I had to reach out to the author because I thought maybe I missed something. Ms. Cross explained that she intentionally obscured the ending so that readers would be able to identify with Anna. Quite brilliant, if you ask me. I really enjoyed this story. And best of all, I've learned that another book in this series will be released soon. Will I be reading it? Just try and stop me!

Awesome and gripping followup here. The story is so strong and independent that you could almost get away with reading it on its own. The two books together feel like one large, amazing story and I love how the characters here really seem to grow and change. This book had me guessing all the way through.

not sure how to feel about this read. the previous book was soo gruesome which made it hard to forget. this book i get her dealing with ptsd but so much was going on that it's like what's real what isn't real? I was confused and not in a good way. Definitely not a book for me.

Entertaining, But Potholes Make This One Miss The Mark. :o\
Okay, this review is going to be quite hard to write as I don't want to give too many spoilers for those who have not read this book.
On the plus side, this is a good story about how, under deep stress, a person can learn to totally distrust their own reality.
Years after her ordeal at the hands of a group of friends in a remote., Norwegian cabin, Anna is finally released from hospital to live with her mother. What starts off to be a wonderful relief soon turns into an absolute nightmare as events seem to draw her mind back to what happened during those awful days at the cabin. She soon finds that she can trust no one, especially not her own memories.
I really liked the way this part of the book worked out. It kept me wondering if the events in the first book had really happened in the way we had been told, or if things had been quite different. I also liked the way Anna was constantly forced to question her own sanity. Amy Cross did a good job of showing what it must feel like to totally doubt one's state of mind.
Now, I know you're probably wondering why I've only given it three stars if the book is as good as I have made it sound in the account above. This is where I move onto the minus points.
There are not very many minus points, but one of the main ones is that there quite a few potholes along the way which never seem to be tied up. Another read through and edit probably would have been enough to have ironed out these kinks. There are also a few grammar and spelling mistakes, but I can forgive her those as they take nothing away from the story and I know how prolific this author is.
Just a quick aside, Amy, if you read this review I just want you to know that I do like your work but take a little more time over the editing and I'm sure you'll give us a lot of brilliant books in the future. :o)

Great
After reading the cabin I was eager to read this sequel. As ever I enjoyed this book from amy cross. It does make you question what is going on and it confused me completely. After finishing the book I'm still non the wiser about what happened but all in all a good book. If anyone has any answers at the end please let me know! Lol

Just as good as The Cabin. I've already got another 2 Cross novels ready to go on my Kindle. Her books are really fast paced and that is so good for me as I tend to lose interest in a novel if it starts to veer off track even the slightest bit. I did both books in a sitting today and it was time well spent. Unlike many people who like all loose ends tied up at the end of a story, the fact that at this story's conclusion Anna's mental health was still in question, was one of the best parts of this book. I love it when the odd loose end is left to the reader's imagination 👌

What a mind bender
Any Cross is definitely the Goddess of mind bending! Anna was tortured and she finally leaves the hospital, but was she ready mentally? Someone is following her, she knows this from the little red camera light she sees occasionally. I was left with my jaw in my lap! A definite must read 📚 happy reading

Another great read. Enjoyed this one as much as the first but the very ending is, well, let me just say that I am a bit confused with it. But it did not take away from the overall story being quite good.

Amy Cross at her very best!
For me, this was the most enthralling and absorbing Amy Cross book I have read and, to think, I nearly passed it by. Her prequel, The Cabin, was a book I hated - far too gruesome for my taste and I only gave it 2 stars. However, this sequel was a masterpiece in psychological thriller writing with a supernatural backdrop. Well recommended as a stand alone read.

I read both books in a 24 hour period of this duo. However, there was some confusion and disappointment because Amazon listed this as a trilogy. I anticipated a third installment to no avail.
In saying that, the conclusion to book 2 was strange and left me with questions. I would like to pretend I am one of the cool kids that “gets it”, but I honestly went back and read the same pages over again trying to decide how the book was being wrapped up. I am still deciding.
This book was riveting and has stuck with me - that’s usually a classic sign that I was spellbound and enjoyed the story more than usual. I appreciated that the scenes in book 2 weren’t as grotesque as The Cabin because though I am an avid horror genre reader, slasher type scenes gross me out (give me the ghosts and ghouls over blood and guts any day).
Anna, the main character, is likeable and you find yourself not only rooting for her, but quickly page turning to find out what’s REALLY going on. Amy Cross is so talented in using suspense, and often, plot twists. I’d recommend ANY of her books, as they are all fast paced and interesting.

Qui abbiamo una situazione da "narratore inaffidabile" che Paula Hawkins spostate proprio. Se in "The Cabin" c'era un misto di horror e paranormale, "After the cabin" ha più i toni del thriller psicologico (ma gli elementi horror e paranormali non mancano), dove la protagonista trascina il lettore nella propria pazzia, e fino all'ultima riga non sai a cosa credere.

Amy, I just finished After The Cabin , the second book of yours that I read in one day, at the expense of letting normal, daily chores go! Your books are so exciting, I get so involved, I don't want them to end. Anna's experiences were just as devastating as in the first book. Ms. Cross, you are one heck of a writer, and needless to say, I love your writing!

Mmmmmmm!!!!!!!
Amy Cross is one of my favourite authors, she creates stories that keep you interested, on the edge of your seat, and at times scared. Throw in some mystery, intrigue and a twist and you have a page turner. This is how this book started, as a page turner, it was fast paced, and I have enjoyed reading it. Fans of thrillers will enjoy it. However the ending is a little strange. Where is Karen? And did she/didn't she, was it real? You decided!!!!

Strange ending
I'm torn about this book. I didn't like the ending but I like that Amy stays away from the 'predictable' . She throws in twists and turns right to the very end. She still needs a good proofreader but I'm not ready to give up on her yet. I'm anxious to read more of her work.

Whoa.
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around what happened. Overall, the book started put a little on the slow side but about 2 maybe 3 chapters in, I was completely consumed by it. This is a companion piece to The Cabin but it also makes an excellent stand-alone.

I found this book more of a gripping psychological thriller than a horror story. Kept me gripped from beginning to end, easy to read in one sitting. Not quite sure about the end though, kind of a head f*** moment, what's real & what's not!

After book one in this amazing series had me hooked I couldn't wait to read this one and, man! This book had me on edge even more than the first book this book keeps you guessing and on edge you wont want to put the book down!

Wow a great second book to the cabin set.. Very well detailed and amazing writing by an incredible author... It's amazing how a mind can be tricked and to make you think differently ....deffently amazing read
