I had a great time listening to this with my 4 year old. He loved it and is currently listening for the 3rd time in 2 days.

The book, was very very good! But it was written kind of a long time ago so their use of words have some different meaning so for example their use of “queer” the meaning of “ queer” is like strange or weird but the meaning of “ queer “ now is something different.

My favorite character was Jessie. She was like a mother to her sister and brothers. It surprised me when they found a box car. I would not change the ending because they found their grandfather.

I am reviewing the box car children by Patrick Andrews.
It was about the children running away from the bakery people because they were trying to take one of the children away. If the bakery people caught the children then they would all have to work in the bakery, except the youngest child. The children got away from the bakery people. Then they found a box car t0 sleep in and live in. The oldest one worked in town all day once they got away from the bakery people. One of the children got sick then they brought her to the hospital. Their grandpa found them when they were in the hospital. Once the sick child recovered they all went to live with their grandpa.
The lesson that I learned from this book was not to judge a person by how they look. In the beginning of the book the grandpa seemed like he would be mean. In the end it turned out that he was nice and helpful to the kids.
I think people who like action books wouldn't like this book very much. If someone liked adventure books then they would like this book because there are a lot of adventures and quests.
The kids showed that if you work together you can get through road blocks in your path.
