Anna did not expect to be struck by lightning, any time today or in the nearby future. Already finding everyday life difficult because of her autism, her entire world changes when she wakes up eighty years in the past, with no memory of her life before. The only thing she remembers is that from the day she arrives; Hitler begins his rise to power. With a revelation that she can telepathically communicate, she arrives in Germany 1933 with no way back to the present and everyone questioning who she is. Discovering friendship, family and community within a Jewish Street, this coming-of-age story displays Anna being extraordinary in a terrible time of history. Could she be their saving grace?
Okay I really really loved it. The book contains all of my favorite things: Multiple POV, time travel and we can see the characters inner thoughts. And honestly, sometimes this book made me feel seen, as if there's a part of every character in me.
Something that doesn't go unnoticed is the amount of effort put in the research for this book. this book. It is really impressive!🤩
I really want to thank a lot the author Daisy Valentine for sending me the ARC of this book and giving me the opportunity to be one of the firsts to read her book. I really did enjoy it.
I would definitely recommend reading it and can't wait for the sequel!!!!
I’m super impressed that a 19 year old wrote and published a book 🤯 Plus, the amount of research needed to write about pre WWII Germany is extensive.
I loved the diverse representation here- the FMC is neurodivergent and strong af for her age. She’s thrust into a whole other time and place, one that she knows the future of. Traumatic for anyone really. Especially when she now has an ability that can drive anyone to the brink of sanity- although it does prove useful.
I loved Anna and Monika’s friendship and their love and support for each other. Samuel, Anna’s stand-in dad, was sweet 😭 And Frederich had so much growth, I loved seeing Anna and his relationship develop too.
I did notice there was a lot of staccato sentences- meaning it was almost as if scenes and dialogue were listing what was happening rather than painting a picture. But I’m sure this will get better with time- It didn’t take away from the story.
Okay excuse me but the amount of research that the author had to use for this book was just wow! So good and I am so impressed as well. Anna and Monika have the best friendship and I absolutely need this in my life. I recommend this to everyone no matter what! When the book comes out I will 100% be purchasing a physical copy. And if this author comes out with any other books I will be ordering them because her writing is just so beautiful! Thank you so much Daisy Bourn for sending me and ARC of this book I enjoyed every second of it!
