"Same page."
Being on the same page with someone means agreeing about something. It's funny how Stormy and Liam were always on the same page: from the time they met, to the time they spent together, to being sweetly unaware of their feelings.

"I won't lie to you. But I will lie for you."
Damn it, Liam Diesel. Liam was the book for me, he carried the whole thing. I swear, this guy is spot-on perfect. OK, he's grumpy and distant, but there's so much heart in him. I mean, who else wouldn't lie even about his own name when he gets hitched on a drunken night in Vegas? Yeah, this guy.

"She was soft and warm, fitted into me like that long-lost puzzle piece."
I can say I liked Stormy, but that was just that. She's OK. I couldn't relate to her for most of the book. I didn't much care for her personality, and I was never rooting for her, which was hard for me after loving the hero so much.

"I should have said goodbye."
"Probably better you didn't. Might not have let you go."

Stormy and Liam meet in Vegas. Both of them are there because their lives have taken a turn for the worse and they need an escape. There's an instant thing between them, so what do they do? They get married. Only, when Liam wakes up the following morning, she's gone, and he only has the fake name she's given him.

"I'm a slave to the taste of her."
One year's gone by, and when they meet again, he wants a divorce. However, for reasons I won't spoil, she doesn't. So they decide to fake their relationship, as long as it suits them both for a set period of time. So that pesky feelings don't get in the way. What could possibly go wrong with that?

"Christ. Just. Don't move for a minute. Especially not your lips, tongue, or not-sucking mouth. Please."
Sparks are flying everywhere. It goes beyond sexual chemistry, even though there's plenty of that too. That moment at the party... loved it. It's like they've been friends forever, instead of only meeting one year before, and are somehow forced to see through the layers of their relationship until they finally realize what's there.

She comes into my arms, and everything else falls away."
More than anything, I loved seeing how he felt. How the guy who thought he'd never need anything or anyone finally understands that she's the only thing that matter. I loved how open he is with her, when he was never like that before. You see the changes in him, and that was endearing to me.

I loved the glimpses of the other guys in the series, especially Vaughn and Rux (my favorites), and the locker room camaraderie, as always. This team really is pretty awesome.

I love the fake relationship trope, I love Mira's writing, and I love this series. The only reason why this is a 4-star read is that I just needed... more from the characters. It was a really short book, and I felt like I was missing something.

The only thing I need from you is you."
That ending? Finally bringing their story full circle was the absolute best for both of them. Bonus points for Liam getting all sorts of swoony and romantic... who could resist that?

Married in Vegas sports romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💚
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😠☺️😋
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Liam - he is a pro hockey player for the Chicago Slayers on winter break on Christmas eve in Las Vegas. He sees an adorable little drunk woman. He is a well-known player but isn’t always recognized away from the ice. He doesn’t usually sleep with drunk girls but decided to play along when she talked about wanting to get back at her cheating ex. Her brush with love has been as crappy as his.

The heroine: Stormi - she had known her fiancee since birth, dated him through high school and found him cheating on her the night before their wedding. She goes to Las Vegas to find a sexy stranger to fall into bed with to get revenge on him.

The Story: Liam sees Stormi as a beautiful girl who deserves a lot more than what she got. They start talking about how they will never set themselves up for something like that again. They talk about how terrible it will be to go back home with their friends and family trying to keep them from ending up alone, when they get a great drunken idea to get married in Vegas.

A year later, Stormi has imagined their pasts crossing again, though she tells herself to ignore the thoughts and get past it. However, she actually comes across Liam outside of O’Hare airport and he follows her home. Though they promised to never see each other again after their tryst in Las Vegas. They didn’t even give each other their actual names.

This was mostly about the fact that their secret marriage was outed before they really decided what to do about it. They are getting to know each other throughout the book. It was a good story and I like the marriage in Vegas trope quite a bit, though I found my mind wandering during this audiobook, I am not sure if it was the story or maybe I was just tired or not that into it.

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Wayne Mitchell. I love Savannah’s soft feminine youthful sounding voice; she is a perfect choice for almost any romance audiobook. I don’t know that I have ever heard Wayne before, but he did a good job. I liked his tone which matched Liam nicely, though I must say I hated his female voice.

📚📚EBOOK REVIEW📚📚 AUGUST 2022

This story, combined with Dirty Christmas, put the biggest smile on my face! I was ridiculously smitten with both Stormy and Diesel from the very beginning, and not just them as individuals, but their journey as well! Only Mira has the imagination genius for such a storyline. It was fabulous on all levels of swoon! GAH, I love Mira something fierce!

The only circumstance this story was lacking on was the past or rather the very thing that prompted Stormy & Diesel to do what they did a year ago. I’m putting this next part in a spoiler block there’s no way for me to review it without giving something away so …

None of those pesky little details derailed my reading experience from being the swooniest, most delightful few hours in my day! The storyline is unique, fun and flirty and Diesel and Stormy (along with guest stars Noel and Misty LOL) filled my heart with tons of joy! I highly recommend reading both Dirty Christmas and Dirty Groom as if they were a duet to get the most out of these two sister’s stories!

4.5 Same Page! STARS!

UPDATE: 🎧🎧 AUDIO REVIEW 🎧🎧 DECEMBER 2022

PERFORMANCE REVIEW: Narrated by Savannah Peachwood & Wayne Mitchell

Savannah Peachwood is always a #win for me, well done!

Ya’ll … Wayne Mitchell attempting a female voice is #crylaugh material with a huge dullop of #cringe #sendhelp *rapid blinking* Either no one listened to this audio before they pressed publish or whomever it was is seriously tonedeaf, in my opinion that is #yikes

So, obviously this audio did not work for me, but I did make it all the way to 28% before I ripped my ipods out, so there’s that *shrug*

Mira slayed another Slayers Hockey story! I SO LOVED THIS!! Just like the other books in this series, I fell and I fell hard.

I love fake relationship/marriage of convenience stories and this one rocked my socks off. It’s written so incredibly well, it was so perfectly done. Mira has a way of making characters so dang LOVABLE and FUN and SEXY, and that’s exactly what she did with Diesel & Stormy.

These two were were perfect together, soooo meant for each other…even if they tried to ignore it, tried to avoid getting their hearts involved.

The immediate connection, their intense attraction, the gradual progression of a “normal” relationship was entertaining to watch, and sometimes quite emotional. All the feels were in this book - plenty of humor, tons of heart, and a satisfying amount of spice.

The last 10% I was so giddy with love and excitement I was practically vibrating, smiling nonstop, and tensed up…in the best of ways! I think I may have eeep-ed a couple of times.

There’s a new hot AF book boyfriend in town and his name is Liam Diesel. This guy has layers, and I want to peel them all away and get to his soft, gooey center where I’ll find his huge heart.

I would totally fight for him.
He’s worth fighting for.

Have you read the other books in this series? Read this book!! If you haven’t read the other books, read this book!! And then go back and read the others!

I’m charmed. The meet-again was an odd coincidence, and though Stormy and Liam talk about their instant connection when they first met, we don’t see much of it, but when they reunite, they spend enough time learning about each other that you can’t help but swoon when they fall in love.

The story goes like that: Stormy and Liam both have something bad happen to them relationship-wise, so to ward off any possibility of falling again, they drunkenly decide to marry each other in Vegas. Then they don’t see each other for a whole year. But they haven’t forgotten.

It might be cliché and a bit too much that they thought about each other for a year, especially since they didn’t do anything during their wedding night, but I still liked it. It reinforced the idea that their connection was real, that there was something between them worth revisiting.

The book is then the story of Liam and Stormy keeping the charade of their relationship for their family and friends, while slowly falling in love. I loved that there wasn’t anything physical at first. It’s not exactly a slow burn, but they don’t jump in bed after five minutes either. They take the time to become friends, before they are lovers.

Stormy was an interesting character, though she had the tendancy to run when things get rough. At least she was consistent. Liam is the perfect good guy from start to finish. They had interesting back stories too, but I felt they were resolved too quickly. I didn’t get the closure they both deserved. But that led to a beautiful happy ending.

There wasn’t much hockey here. It was mostly a background, with some team scenes that were nice–and the come back of many previous characters. Especially Misty, Stormy’s sister, and Noel, Liam’s kind of friend, who had their story in a previous novella.

It wasn’t the best ever from the author, but I really fell in love with Stormy and Liam.

Quickie

- Series: Slayers hockey #6 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #hockey romance #fake relationship #vegas wedding #grumpy
- Triggers: cheating
- Main couple: Stormy Hendricks & Liam Diesel
- Hotness: 4/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + Liam was such a good guy!
- – I felt like closure for both characters went too easy, with their respective ‘villain’ becoming suddenly good

I absolutely LOVED this book! I can't even describe how much I love it. It's amazing from the start till the end. The storyline gripped me from the very first page. I really loved and enjoyed the storyline. This is my new favourite from the author. Liam and Stormy are amazing. I loved their banter, chemistry and everything in between. This is an all-around entertaining story IMO. I highly, highly recommend their story! You will not regret reading this one.

"This is the thing I didn't know I was missing."

Stormy and Liam met at a Vegas bar, both trying to escape breakups and betrayals and wanting to forget everything that had brought them there. Strangers with an instant connection, they impulsively got married in Vegas and after one night, Stormy disappeared.

"I didn't want to give the guy who seemed perfect the chance to show me he wasn't."

After a year of unsuccessfully trying not to think about each other, yet still married, they met again in Chicago and decided to pursue a fake relationship with a finite end. Adding in sex to avoid lonely nights, they set boundaries and tried to keep any feelings out of it. But what would happen when their fake relationship inevitably started to feel real?

"Maybe I should feel guilty. I definitely shouldn't like it."

I loved how Stormy and Liam blurred the lines between real and fake, friends with benefits to falling in love. I loved Liam's dark intensity and how he perfectly complemented Stormy, fitting together like pieces of a puzzle. Liam had always been more comfortable alone, keeping his distance from his teammates, and I loved how Stormy broke down his walls. I would have liked to see less anger in Liam's demeanor but I liked how protective he was of Stormy and how she added such a calming presence in his life.

"Are we still on the same page?"

What could have been a slippery slope brought out so many beautiful emotions instead. Stormy and Liam gave each other their hearts, finding their forever but knowing they would have to give everything back. I loved Liam's loyalty to his fake marriage as they exposed each other's vulnerabilities, opening their hearts and finding the trust between them.

"I want more. I want it all."

The third act breakup brought me to tears as their fears and insecurities rose to the surface. I wanted nothing more than for Stormy and Liam to find the HEA that they both truly deserved. Love and understanding, as well as the importance of family, added to the story, everything coming full circle and ending with a sweet and beautiful epilogue.

"The only thing I need from you is you."

I listened to the audiobook and thought Savannah Peachwood and Wayne Mitchell captured the essence of the couple's personalities perfectly. I listened to Savannah at 1.25x and Wayne at 1.5x, and I occasionally couldn't distinguish thoughts from speech, but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the narration. The narrators brought emotion and believability into the story, filling it with a beautiful mix of steam and heart.

Dirty Groom is the newest addition to the Slayers Hockey world. It is the story of Diesel and Stormy. These two are broken people who meet at a Las Vegas bar on Christmas Eve and they just click. They talk, hang out, get to know each other and end up married, with a pre-nup written on a cocktail napkin! After a night together where nothing happens between them, they go their separate ways with no real way to contact one another since they didn’t share their real names or any real personal information. Diesel is a broken grump who keeps everyone at arm’s length, including his team mates who he isn’t close to at all. Stormy is a smart and career driven woman who lives to worry about what others think about her. She doesn’t like facing her troubles so when faced with them, she runs – thus a bar in Vegas on Christmas Eve.

Fast forward to one year later and Diesel is on his way to Vegas to try to find her so that he can get a divorce. He sees her on the road and follows her home like a maniac! In the past year each of them has thought of the other and has fantasized about running into each other. Rather than divorce, they decide to continue their charade of a marriage to placate her family, friends and co-workers. While living together, they take the time to re-learn about one another and become good friends, then lovers and then much more. They have each been screwed over by people who should have had their backs, and they are wary and hurting. Watching the two of them navigate their marriage and battle with themselves to stay married, was wonderful to watch. They brought out the best in one another and helped the other to fix some of the holes in their hearts and believe in themselves again. Watching Stormy stand up to her family, with Diesel’s support, was awesome. She found her courage, with his help. And watching Diesel soften up and become friendly and then friends with his team mates was also awesome. He realized that he was happy with Stormy and that happiness bled into other aspects of his life too. These two just simply make each other better. While they are not exactly a slow burn, they don’t jump each other right away either. Their chemistry is there smoldering for a good while before it explodes. It’s worth the wait!

I loved getting to see Noel and Misty’s relationship continue to play out too. Both of these characters play pivotal roles in this story. It is always great to see the other Slayers, and in this story, it is really great to see them rally around Diesel to help him. I think it surprises him to see them offering when he hasn’t been involved with them before. I love the banter between all the characters, but most especially the guys - they are hilarious! This was a great read, especially the bonus epilogue! (Don’t miss it!) I look forward to the next Slayer story and can’t recommend this one enough!

Dirty Groom is the seventh book in the Slayers Hockey series by the fabulous Mira Lyn Kelly. I love this series so hard! Mira always gives us the perfect mix of humor, sexiness, hockey and friendship. The writing is top-notch and the characters are sexy and fun! If you read Dirty Christmas, you got a glimpse of Diesel and Stormy. If you haven't, go and read that right now! You won't be sorry! I love nothing more than a grumpy sexy hero and Liam Diesel is the perfect one. Diesel and Stormy met at a bar in Vegas, both running from something. So what do you do when you swear off relationships? Get married of course. Then Diesel wakes up and she's gone. A year later he sees her and he really only wants one thing, a divorce. But sometimes you get what you need and not what you want! Stormy doesn't want to be divorced. There are worse things than staying married to the sexy hockey player. What's the harm as long as they're both on the same page? Right? Oh boy! I loved Diesel and Stormy so much! He is grumpy, but he's also sweet and Stormy is bad@ss. Together they made me laugh, had me cheering, and fanning myself! I loved getting to see my beloved Slayers players and I loved seeing more Noel! Overall, the series just keeps getting better and better! So much so that I can't even pick a favorite!

I had to warm up to this one, but once I did I really enjoyed it. I haven’t read a ton of fake marriage or real but fake marriage tropes so it was unique and I liked that. Loved the characters and how they fit together so well.

🌀Synopsis
Stormy walked in on her fiancé with his parts in another woman’s mouth the night before they were to be married. So she left. Went to Vegas. Ended up getting married anyways.
Sexy stranger Liam is also running away but he’s running away from his father and crazy ex girlfriend turned step mom. After a lot of drinks, the two become a married couple.
Now, nearly a year later they meet up again and decide it’s time for a divorce. Except, the more they see of each other the stronger their feelings get. They decide to stay married for “looks” and moving in together throws them into each other’s arms.
When Liam’s ex comes back to ruin it they both have to decide just exactly what is going on and if they truly want to be divorced.

I was given a copy of Dirty Groom by the author for an honest review.

I'm such a sucker for a hockey romance - and I love Mira Lyn Kelly, so this was a match made in heaven. We start off with Liam and Stormy - or Sexy Stranger and Jane Jones - meeting at a hotel bar in Vegas. They agree to a no-strings-attached deal after they both experience heartbreak. Fast forward a year and we find out not only did they go their separate ways after that night in Vegas, but they got married before they did.

Liam drags his friend after Stormy to get that divorce, and the friend ends up falling in love with Stormy's sister. They agree to keep their marriage a secret, but no matter how Liam and Stormy try to stay away from each other, they keep ending up together. An incident with Stormy's ex causes Liam to lose control, and their dirty little secret is out. Now Liam and Stormy are "all in" for the marriage, or well, they are in for at least 2 years.

Something from Liam's past comes back to haunt him, and he feels like the best thing to do is push Stormy away. However, they are both completely miserable, ya know? So, of course, there's a satisfying HEA. There is, of course, sexy times, so 18+.

Liam and Stormy's story made me laugh and "awwww!" over the course. They played off each other very well, and the banter - OH THE BANTER. I do love me some banter :)

Dirty Groom reminded me how much I enjoy Mira Lyn Kelly's writing and the Slayers guys (and their gals ofc!). I got into the story right away and liked both main characters.

Liam and Stormy meet one night in Vegas. Both have been burned in past relationships and commiserate. Liam finds Stormy adorable and when she suggests they marry right then to protect each other from love, he finds himself saying yes. No names or real stories. They sign the papers and go their separate ways...until one year later when they cross paths.

I loved that Liam was usually stoic and reclusive, but that Stormy could make him smile and shake him up. These two were set against love until they realized it could be completely different when it was with someone you trusted.

If you like sports romance, fake relationship, and marriage of convenience, check this one out! I can't wait for the next one.

I voluntarily received and ARC and this is my review.

Amazon / Apple / Nook / Kobo / Google / Signed Paperback

Once upon a time...Stormy was down in the dumps and ran off and fake married a gorgeous guy she met in Vegas. Now a year later she's freaking out because that same guy has tracked her down. Why? Well he wants a divorce. And he's not the guy he said, then again, she's not the woman she said she was either. So, give him a divorce, or stay fake married to him, even though it's a huge risk to her heart because she's never forgotten her gorgeous husband?

Liam promised to protect Stormy and now faced with her again a year after marrying her on impulse, he's regretting not having had this past year with her. Because he's never forgotten his wife. Can they stay married with no feelings? Probably not considering he already has feelings. He'll just have to make sure his messy past stays far away from her, though.

Whew, Liam and Stormy are hot together! I loved their meet cute, how obvious it was they had very real feelings for each other, and how they each decided in the end to fight for each other and their marriage. Now I'm anxiously waiting for the next hockey player to fall head over heels.

Reviewed on behalf of Verve Romance

One of my most-anticipated reads of the year, Dirty Groom did not disappoint. It was everything I wanted it to be—flirty, fun, charming, addictive, sexy—and more. I can’t wait to read it again. And again.

My love of the Slayers Hockey series is well documented so it should come as no surprise I was excited to get my hot little hands on Dirty Groom. (Especially after the adorable Dirty Christmas novella, which hints at this story while giving puppy-like Noel Nichols his own HEA.) And, after being all patient and mature-like, making sure I had a clean slate and time to commit to what I correctly assumed would be a binge-reading session, I’m back to gush over this series once again.

It's the perfect series. I don’t know how else to explain my love for it. It hits all the right notes for me, from tropes to pacing to banter to sexy times to characterization and growth, and beyond. And Dirty Groom puts all that on display. Liam and Stormy are wonderful together; seeing them build on their initial instalike first meeting (and marriage) is richly rewarding and feels so damn good.

I’m smiling just thinking about it.

For real, this book has been on my mind all day as I replay my favorite moments, and it makes me want to do a little shimmy-shake of happiness. It’s a lighthearted read that doesn’t skimp on the bumpy stuff, and if I could hug and/or befriend these characters IRL, I 100% would. There’s something so satisfying about seeing Liam become increasingly aware of his feelings, about watching Stormy learn to trust and love after betrayal. Something so pleasing about Liam opening up to his teammates and welcoming their friendship, about Stormy standing up for herself and fighting for what she wanted.

Something so compelling about this hockey team and series that I won’t be able to move on until I read them all—including Dirty Groom—again . . .

Some months later they find themselves again, but instead of a divorce they decide to keep the appearances for some time. When feelings start to grow they will have to search in their hearts the ability to trust again.

The main characters in this book, Stormy and Liam were so incredible I could read 10 more books about them!!! I also loved Noel!!! He is just like a big puppy and he happens to be the hero of the previous book. So maybe you want to grab both and all of the previous books in this series. If you love a good sports romance, Mira won’t disappoint you!

“For a year, I’ve imagined our paths crossing, fate tossing us together once more. And for a year, it hasn’t been him.”

Dirty Groom was a wonderfully fun, steamy and heartfelt romance between two people that had been broken by love and stumbled into an accidental marriage. Liam and Stormy are charmingly adorable and their meet-cute is everything.

“If we were the kind of people looking for forever, I might want it with her.”

Stormy had been betrayed by her fiancée the night before her wedding so she runs away to Vegas to escape. She plans to have find herself a ONS but ends up with a husband that she never plans to see again, but what happens in Vegas doesn’t always say in Vegas. When her husband shows up a year later, they make a deal and begin to spend time together. What happens when you begin to develop feelings for your “fake” husband?

“I don’t want to tell him that this thing between us is meaningless to me when it’s become the most meaningful thing in my life.”

I loved Liam and Stormy so much. Both had been hurt by love and found a kindred spirit in the other. They had an incredible spark between them whether it was their snappy banter or their time between the sheets. I loved watching their friendship and relationship develop and how they gave each other the strength to stand up for themselves.

“She’s opened my heart and broken down my walls. She’s made me feel like I’m actually living.”

Full of so much heart, heat, and humor, Dirty Groom is an absolute gem. Liam and Stormy’s journey was emotional, heartbreaking and uplifting and I didn’t want their story to end. I love all of the Slayers hockey players and each one holds a special place in my heart.

Both getting away from their families, Liam and Stormy meet in a bar in Las Vegas during the holidays. Later that night they decide to get married. The next morning Misty bolts before Liam wakes up and they don't see each other again until a year later at the airport. Liam runs after Misty asking for a divorce, while Misty runs away from Liam, avoiding her mistake. Are Liam and Misty destined for divorce, or will the winter weather have them rekindling their romance?

This is the first time I've read a spur of the moment wedding in Vegas type thing but it was pretty fun! I loved how Liam had to chase Stormy from the airport to her house and then get his way inside to ask her for a divorce. That's when I knew this was going to be a great book. I also loved how Liam realized he needed to give Misty her space whenever he was around her, but he also became very possessive once his teammates started going after her, since no one else knew they were married. Misty has an idiot of an ex fiance, and when she finally comes clean about the ending of their engagement to everyone you feel a great relief for her. The ending of the book is also super cute and special!

Diesel and Stormy are great together…they did things backwards, but I love the way they fell in love with each other! A great story!

Uhh this book was so surprisingly good!! I thought this would be a quick 3 star read but it turned out to be a really entertaining marriage of convenience!

If you like sexy athletes, marriage of convenience, a hero that would protect the heroine at all cost, and a down to earth heroine I highly recommend picking this one up!

A huge thank you so netgalley and the publisher for an eARC of this title in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This wonderfully fun romance delivered the perfect blend of smile-till-your-face-hurts humor, tug-at-your-heartstrings drama, need-an-ice-cold-beverage steam and melt-your-heart swoony-ness to keep me glued to the pages and up past my bedtime. I adored Liam and Stormy! Trust me when I sat that these two are 100% adorably meant to be!!! And the banter? Sharp, clever and utterly irresistible. Altogether, a pure delight!

Lots of melodrama

This is a drunken, Las Vegas, fake-marriage plot. Typically, that trope is played for laughs, but in this book, the romantic conflict between the two lovers is extremely melodramatic. Because this is a short novel of around 50,000 words, the length of a standard Harlequin, short contemporary novel, there is a disappointingly simplistic, and quite improbable, resolution of the main conflict that leads to the Dark Period, when all seems lost, in order to arrive at the all important, romance novel HEA.

I listened to the audiobook version of this novel, which I obtained through Hoopla. Unfortunately, it is yet another disappointing example of an increasingly common choice for romance novel audiobooks of a female voice talent and a male voice talent narrating alternate chapters. This causes the two romantic protagonists to have an entirely different sound from chapter to chapter. It would have been a far more enjoyable choice to have those two people do a duet narration, in which the male voice talent performs all the male characters in the book, and the female voice talent performs all the female characters in the book. Failing that, it would have been better to have used only the female narrator the entire book, because whenever this male voice talent portrays female characters, his falsetto is cringeworthy.

Slayers hockey is the no spoons series that just keeps on giving. Quick, fun, easy reads that don’t overstimulate me and I don’t need too much brain space to concentrate on? That’s what I’m talking about.

Add in a drunken marriage in Vegas, a bit of an argumentative/combative start (like not rivals to lovers but they’re at each others throats a bit, you know?), fake dating, a man obsessed, some good banter, tension, and I’m sat.

Misty the sister is an asshole. Got to the point where I just skimmed her sections because she is an unpleasant brat. I can't fathom the outcome of the last chapter.
