Second book in the series. Scythia and the Team return to the Nationalist Enforcement Bureau Station to face Oversight review for the aftermath of their first mission. In an attempt to not anger the powers that be, the team thinks its best to lay low and stay out of trouble. Scythia begins training and exploring the physical world around her. Djaem begins planning for the future and rebuilding his criminal enterprise. Uthraith finds himself entangled in romance, political intrigue. And Raza tries to take a day off. The team will have to learn how to make friends instead of mayhem if they want to navigate the dangerous undercity of the Citadel.
Oh my gosh, okay so this is the second book and you really should read the first one first. This book is a bit more soap opera political than the first but still so good, great humor, the chapter names! I love that the narration you can tell which character POV you are following. Uthraith has a intelligent barbarian quality to his narration. Raza reminds me of Vasquez from ALIENS but way more feminine. I really can't wait for more.
Once again, Jesse Harvey has done it. I love her storytelling. It’s very reminiscent of Mercedes Lackey, or Anne McCaffrey.
It’s a very science-fiction space drama, and the story is told from point of view of a character who was presented as being unintelligent in book one, but you find out that his internal thoughts are very intelligent , and he sees far more than what everyone else expects him to see.
This book has the same cast of characters as the first with a completely different storyline, pacing. The adventures are political intrigue instead of action. This author is multifaceted
