Or at least that’s what we’ve been led to believe. In my experience power has brought me nothing but pain. Pain and chains. Clasped onto my wrists by the human king of Angevin. Power never brought me closer to seeing the outside world, like I’ve always dreamed of doing.
What it has brought is destruction. Chaos within its wake, snuffing supernatural beings into the ground, and keeping humans at the top of the list. When that power finally clouds the king’s eyes, as he tries to snuff out all mystics from the world… I make my run for it.
Though it seems my past catches up to me all too quickly. My freedom is cut short when an orc clan mistake me for a murderer. What should have been an instant death sentence, might just be my absolution. They need me to heal what the humans have caused; except how can they trust me? When they think I’m the wolf in sheep’s clothing…they couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing is a dark fantasy reverse harem novel, meaning the female main character doesn't have to choose between any of her monster men. This novel is intended for a mature audience.
This book is in dire, dire need of an editor. I read this and there are huge jumps, information and full length names with no actual understanding of how she got the information. Almost all the important bits of info happen off page.
This is a VERY rushed and haphazardly written book.
How it is getting higher ratings is baffling. I won’t read another one until she invests in an editor
This book was an absolute hot mess. The plot twist at the end doesn’t make any sense for sooo many reasons. The orc clans would be ambushed by the humans who would then just disappear. The next morning the clan would move but end up close to a different group of people/creatures/beings and then experience a new violent situation. It felt like the realm/land was about a couple square kilometers (a square mile). Yet the humans would appear out of nowhere, slaughter people and then disappear. The humans were the group in power and yet the world seemed medieval with primitive weapons (the humans wore armor like knights). How would humans overpower orcs and demons without any sort of technological advantage?
The crime, the clan of orcs thought the FMC committed was absolutely preposterous. There was no way she could have remotely did what she was accused of. The equivalent of thinking a house cat killed a bear.
Series Review: 4 Smutty “I don’t care about the plot” Stars
If you’re looking for Orc/Monster porn, then this is the series for you!! Book one was the slowest burn of the series; I think it only had two sex scenes; after that…complete monster porn. It was great!
The writing wasn’t spectacular. There were a lot of grammatical and punctuation errors, but it wasn’t enough to throw me off the series. There were a few storyline inconsistencies, but no one is gonna read this series for the plot #OrcCock #SizeDifference #SmuttySmut. The world-building was good, the character-building was good, and the relationship-building was good. The smut was fire 🔥🔥🔥!!

a very fast paced book I read between two huge books, it was good, it felt a little rushed but that’s expected with how big the book is, it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing because I read it within like 3 hours and it was something I needed to be honest! the cliffhanger at the end was not something I was expect at all, that was crazy and unpredictable, I knew as soon as she left with luther something was going to happen, I just didn’t know it was that! the characters were all intriguing, not much development happened to them but I’m hoping their development is gradual through the rest of the series! overall, a good book, with an interesting plot and great characters!
Arcadia is an enslaved fae. She grows up in captivity with orcs who become her family. After Arcadia is brutally beaten they decide to make a run for it. Tragedy strikes and Arcadia is captured yet again . Only this time by a clan of orcs. They don’t trust her. She doesn’t trust them. The leader and his men have a way of getting under her skin…and of course that’s reciprocated. She gains friends, powers…and enemies.
The ending 😩💔
A cliffy that gave me a case of the book hangovers.
I really thought I would like this based on the beginning, but it felt like everything just went downhill after a point. Whatever this writing style is, it’s not for me. Everything became very rushed and I felt like after a point I was more confused reading certain parts that I should have been. It had way too much action for the size of the book, every other page they were getting ambushed, tossed into another world, or something similar. It almost felt like the author wanted to focus on the spice/relationships but didn’t want to do anything else in terms of the story, which is fine if it’d been done differently. The fmc relationship with the orcs made sense, there was chemistry/time to meet each other. The demon situation was weird and very much out of left field. Overall I just feel like this story was too much info in not enough pages, poor writing in general, and was really a letdown from what I expected given how many books this author has published.
The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing is an enchanting start to the Royal Fae series! Rune Hunt delivers a story that’s beautifully woven with intrigue, fantasy, and a complex romance that pulls you in from the start.
The main characters are captivating and layered. The heroine is strong, resilient, and far from a damsel in distress—she has her own secrets and a fierce determination that makes her stand out in a court full of deception.
The pacing is spot-on, and every twist kept me guessing. The stakes are high, and the romance has a slow-burn intensity that makes each interaction between the characters sizzle with potential.
Wasn’t really a fan of this one. The premise was good, a slave girl being captured by an orc clan, but I didn’t feel like it was drawn out enough. It was almost 200 pages, but so much was packed into it that I think it hurt the story more than it helped it. It didn’t feel realistic to me for one. The MC loses practically her whole “family,” in the very beginning and is then captured by the clan, but her grief felt very superficial. The deaths of them were so fast that I didn’t really mourn for them, and it didn’t help when Arcadia would think of them one second, and move abruptly on the next. The pacing was very fast, and it didn’t work here bc the setting/world building wasn’t developed much. They were traveling, but I couldn’t picture the land or how it transitioned as they moved along. The writing was very fast and to the point, and I was able to deduce pretty quickly that Luther was going to betray her, esp with how Arcadia would name every man she was interested in romantically in one sentence except him, and then having one of those aforementioned men state they didn’t trust him. It was a little on the nose. I also didn’t find it realistic that upon her being kidnapped by the demon king Traegar, that within hours? Minutes? She’s dominating over him. It was also kind of confusing when she claims that she’s healing willingly, when the whole reason she was kidnapped and her clan was imprisoned (which has her making demands for them) was so she would heal the kings people in return. I couldn’t understand how she would still be doing that of her free will under those circumstances. I was even confused when Arcadia brought Ryker back from the brink of death from a slit throat, but the person she saved from deaths door in the demon kingdom had her saying “I’d never been that close to losing someone.” Was i wrong in how serious Ryker’s condition was? Also, the very ending, when after she is taken again and imprisoned in the human kingdom this time, it’s revealed she is the human kings daughter. There wasn’t any hints (at least that I caught) that this was a possibility. Unless it was the reason her magic was so weak? It just seemed way out of the blue, esp it being told from Luther to Thrasher. It might’ve been more powerful had that been told to us through Arcadia’s POV instead for more emotional impact. And the plot twist that Orianna is alive and with the human king? THAT I didn’t see coming, but sadly it was disappointing because of how fast Arcadia just accepts that she isn’t dead, and fights against her. There was no denial, no confusion, no relief before the betrayal. It felt lackluster to me, when the potential was there. When you add in how they ALL smirk even when it’s not really fitting or necessary, and how much Arcadia completely does the exact opposite of what you’d think she would—she’s exhausted and can barely move, but decides to go do something anyway, etc., it gets a little frustrating. Idk if I’ll read the next in the series, but if you want something easy and simple this should help.

I just finished this book, and I'm so confused. The sex scenes were great, and I'm not normally one to complain about how many love interests there are, but when I'm not sure who exactly is gonna be with her, it bothers me a bit. I like having an idea of who she's gonna be with and I'm not a huge fan of reverse Harems when people get added that aren't used to sharing I know the orc said it was ok but it kinda felt like cheating when she had sex with the demon king. Also, what was that conversation she overheard in the demon castle, the one when she was bringing the cinnamon rolls or whatever that just never got brought up after? That had me lost. I don't understand the purpose of it if it's just forgotten and no one even acts different. I don't understand Orianna turning like she did. I think it would've felt more like a betrayal if you got to connect with that character more, but you didn't. I'm just confused. It was great sex though I probably won't be reading the second book. (Any reviews I write are for me, so I know what books I do and don't like)
What did I just read? Where I thought the story was going flipped right at the end. The cliffhanger slapped me right on the face lol. FMC super naiive which was fine but then she turned into a nypho that never really had sex (the whole book she only had sex twice).
In the beginning, it drew me in. Arcadias past & present was nothing but slavery. Rune grabbed my attention with how well the world was described by Arcadia. How she was the only fae slave to the human king among all the female slave orcs. The orcs were her family, she was raised by them, knew their language & spoke it well. Arcadia had just turned 21 before the book started a few weeks before and had gained her fae magic. She tried to heal a orc friend’s back from being whipped for talking back. Just before her escape, she intercedes on a young females behalf from being whipped. The human king orders the guard, the one that likes to deal out whipping punishments for the smallest slight, is told that he can’t whip her as strongly as the orcs. Let alone allow the guard to rape her like he told her he was going to do. Arcadia knew what her future was going to look like as she was born there. Never knowing any other life. Her adoptive orc mother tried to escape with all the female slaves and they may have all made it out of the castle but were picked off one by one. Arcadia was also hit by an arrow but it didn’t kill her, she had fallen into the river along with her adoptive mother. She woke up seeing her mother with an arrow in her heart. The exact vision she saw hours earlier. She is quickly surrounded by a group of male orcs. Who are quick to assume she killed the orc female. This is where it started to lose my interest. Arcadia was agreeing that she killed her, to provoke the males into killing her. Her personality changed into something that her original character didn’t support. Yes, we read her heart breaking thoughts seeing her mother bloated from the river with that arrow in her, & could feel her pain in the knowledge her mother passed. But, a moment later she’s agreeing with the males she killed her and others? I felt like I missed a chapter. Her emotions went from 0-180 degrees and I missed the whole middle of the conversation from start to finish. Arcadias thoughts didn’t even reveal that she wanted to die, it was one of the males snorting at her responses in orc. She was a weak fae, not strong enough to kill a orc female & wanted to die by provoking them. This is when we are introduced to the males she’s attracted too. The leader and basically his inner circle. She’s held captive initially and is told to heal their sick from the human disease they were poisoned with since she’s fae. She tried to heal that orc at the beginning & since she’s never been around another fae to help train her powers, she didn’t the know how to heal. She tried her best and succeeds somewhat. Arcadia refuses to tell them all the truth of her past. She never killed anyone, let alone her adoptive mother. She didn’t even tell them that she was her mother, nor was she a slave to the human king. They eventually remove her cuffs and tell her that she’s no longer a captive but Arcadia hasn’t ever been anywhere else, where would she go? She knows no one, & would have no idea how to survive. So, it was endearing to read her puzzlement over the new proteins the orcs introduce her too. Chicken, eggs, and pork. Not knowing what chickens are or eggs, pork, made the inner circle males intrigued & since we got to read their point of views, the reader knows their suspicions are correct about her being a slave to the human king. She drools over their shirtless bodies, then she witnesses one of them masturbating. Next thing we know, she’s sleeping with another, kissing another. It’s another point in the story where her character changes rapidly without anything leading up to her jumping into bed with someone. Virgin/shy/naive, but smart to the hard knock in life one moment, to the becoming a completely different person. Not caring about the consequences, like it was only “just” a virginity. So it was weird & jarring to read. Not that the scene wasn’t hot. It was very steamy. The clan is attacked twice. The second time, they are all taken prisoner with the demon clan. They felt her magic burst from her when she was trying to protect the orcs from the first attack & knew she had a magic they needed. The demon clans leader made a deal with her at their castle. If she would heal their clan members, old & young from the human sickness, they wouldnt hurt the orcs until she healed everyone. That included feeding them. Arcadia gets better with her healing magic each day healing the demons & her orcs. She starts to get to know the demons and willingly has sexual relations with the demon clan leader. Shes in the market & sees an orc she saved from being whipped & suddenly she wakes up in the castle dungeon. With the whip perverted guard taunting her. She remembers nothing in between. The reader reads the orcs being told she killed an orc & reveals she needs to head home as her father is the human king. So what happened? The shifts in this book really interrupted my connection with Arcadia. I’m unsure if I like the story enough to continue.
I really wanted to like this book. I gave it 2 stars because I feel like it has potential, but it definitely needs to be pulled and edited. Many sentences are hard to decipher or just plain don’t make sense. Words are left out of sentences, incorrect words are used, sentences are left incomplete. It almost feels like they’re might have used voice to text and skipped from first draft to publish.
I like where the story wants to go, so much that I also read the second book to give it a fair shot. I hate to DNF a series, let alone a book, but I was so over it just partway into the second book I almost didn’t finish it. FMC starts out with promise, but she quickly morphs into an emotionally immature whining narcissist. She’s early 20’s but feels like she’s a 14 year old, and I was so over her.
Rune warned me. Said it ended with a cliffhanger. I knew what I was walking into but I didn't it would be THAT! BETRAYAL TO THE 10TH DEGREE.
Honestly, I read this book without stopping. Couldn't put it down. I can't wait to see what happens next!
*SPOILERS BELOW* * * * * * * * * I normally don't love a doe eyed innocent MC, but Rune did well with this one. She has this need to help others even to her own downfall. Now that she is back in her personal hell, I can't wait to see what happens next. Is she really half fae? Is she really the Human Kings daughter? I wonder what her unofficial mates will do with L's lies (I'm hoping they are lies and that A didn't actually go into some Rouge state).
Book was okay. Luther has been the nicest of them all and he didn’t cross her mind. I don’t like that. Story seemed rushed. But the end redeemed the book a little.
This world needed to be explained a bit more. Still trying to figure out if we’re in a different world/realm that has humans or a the regular world that has fae. They called her a human then said she was an elf, so I’m very much confused. Then the orcs called her fae. Aren’t any magical being from another realm considered fae? How are Alethia and Bellona twins but they’re significantly different ages? When did Traeger say she had to heal people? Conversate isn’t a word. Book also needed to be edited.
I enjoyed the read but not enough to want to finish reading the series.
I feel like a longer, single read book would have been better than splitting it up into multiple books.
The characters were good and while a lot of the book was once sided story wise it was easy to read. There wasn’t much growth to the characters and I didn’t really like the way that the first book ended.
There were some odd spots added in there that weren’t brought up again in the book and it made the reading a little all over the place.
This story starts of strong and intense in its world and story building, please read the trigger warnings before jumping in. But from the first page Rune hooks me in and holds on tight. It's interesting watching Arcadia learn about all the things she never got to experience and learning about who she really is as a person. I really can't wait to see where Rune takes Arcadia and the other characters!
Tue story is nice, but the writing of the male characters, in particular, is very juvenile. All characters are between 20 and 100 and some years old, and yet they talk and act like pre-pubescent teens. For anyone who wants a book with more Corn than Story, this is for you. I personally prefer a good storyline with a few corn chapters, this is just straight Corn with a storyline around it that makes some sort of sense but not really but also does but still doesn't? Idk... I'm waiting on the next ones so I can finish the series and see how it evolves.
I'm rating this 1.5. It could have been better if the plot had flowed better and avoided random jumps. Some of the characters' actions and words made me scratch my head because they seemed so out of character. I know it has been stated many times, but this book really needed an editor. One or two rounds of edits could have made this book better. Other than that, I think this story does have potential.
This story is so good. Rune does an amazing job with writing the plot, world development, and character development. She has you hooked from the very first page and leaves you wanting to finish the book all in 1 night. There is a cliffhanger but what can you expect from Rune she loves them. I can't wait to read book 2.
What a twist! Normally I’m not into the Orc romance genre but I loved this book (i love anything from Ms. Hunt, lol) Arcadia was a wide eyed naive girl until she got out of the kingdom. As the story progressed she became a little more stronger and comfortable in her magic. I loved the connection with King Traeger. Hopefully they find their way back to each other.
Okay I was intrigued by this book. It was different than anything I had read. It was sad and happy and surprising. And the plot twist! I literally couldn’t believe it. Luther obviously betrayed her but so did Orianna who I though was maybe dead. Is Ezris actually dead? If so did Luther kill her? Is Arcadia really the kings daughter? I have so many questions!

It wasn’t good but it wasn’t bad. There were too many time jumps and too many points in the story where you get confused on what the plot really is. When it ends you are left with a cliffhanger that doesn’t propel you into wanting the next book. I think it could’ve been better with a little more editing or more exploration of the worlds; basically the world building aspect lacks heavily.
This story is disjointed. The harem isn’t much of a harem. I’m not sure I quite follow the storyline. At this point, there really are only superficial bonds between these characters and honestly it’s too easy to distrust everyone. I’m going to pass on the next, but others may want to try it.
This was cute! I enjoyed the first book of this series! Arcadia is a sweet FMC who just wants to help but craves her freedom. I love the men around her, even the rude growly ones. The book just felt a bit rushed and jumpy in some places, but overall, it was a really great read, and I really want to read this authors other work!
It’s repetitive a little I like that it’s a reverse harem but it kinda makes her seem like she’ll sleep with anyone… I like how with the orcs there was back and forth a little bit but with hex and traigerie or whatever the demon dudes name was it was like instant, it didn’t take much.
