Sometimes, the beauty does claim a beast.

Aeryx is a warrior in Morozko’s army, yearning to destroy those who brought ruin to his home. But when duty brings him to the human world, he encounters a problem. An intoxicating problem he wants nothing to do with.

A problem he can’t resist.

Noel has rebelled for most of her life, and college is doing nothing to change that fact. Until one sorority night, when she witnesses the unthinkable and stumbles upon a monster from another realm. A monster who makes her question everything.

Including her desire for the beast.

Frost Claim is inspired by Krampus and book one in this fantasy romance series with forced proximity, plenty of banter, heavy steam, and sexy monsters you won’t be able to resist.

Frost Claim is the first full-length novel in the Demons of Frosteria series written by Candace Robinson and Elle Beaumont. I read their intro short story earlier this year, and it was intriguing. But this book takes on its own life and presents a thrilling young adult adventure / fantasy / supernatural experience for readers of all ages. Blooming with that angsty teenage love where a young college girl wants to have some fun but also be careful with her friends at a costume party. When she meets someone who appears to be wearing a furry costume, she's intrigued, but then she falls asleep before anything happens between them. Except she later finds him again and something shocking and scary happens - is he a monster, she wonders? What's really going on... then the story flips, and we learn all about the world he comes from, including what he's trying to do to stop the demons taking over children's minds and bodies. Loved the relationship between the two protagonists, and the writing is seamless and lyrical. The drama is perfect for the setting and age of the characters, but there is also an impressive maturity when the truth comes out. Our heroine doesn't fall to pieces - she accepts who the beast is and wonders how to deal with it. A breath of fresh air, and I'm hooked. Can't wait for the second one!

I was first introduced to this world when I was gifted the ARC of the prequel novella Frost Mate last December, and I couldn’t wait to return for Aeryx’s story! Make sure you check out my review of Frost Mate first!

What I liked about the book:
1. I don't know why, but this world just sucks me in. It's not that it's terribly fleshed out or earth shatteringly original, but something about it makes me want to visit and find my own Krampi warrior mate. It sounds absolutely beautiful and I love the various wars going on within the world.

2. I like when I'm proven right. That's all I'll say about that.

3. I liked the characters. Noel was much more tolerable than Zira was in the prequel, and she was hilarious. I loved her back and forth with her best friend Ivy and their shared interest in old movies. I also loved Aeryx, but I wasn't surprised by that. He had all the good qualities of his dad, but was also a bit more easygoing, which is a definite plus!

4. The steam was good. Not A+, but good enough to get you through.

5. I'm a sucker for anything that has references to Beauty and the Beast. So we basically have Disney to thank for my love of rough/beastly men...

Why it didn't get 5 stars:
1. Again, there is nothing new or original about the plot. It's your run-of-the-mill fantasy/romance story. But I enjoyed it nonetheless.

2. I did not love that surprise twist for Noel. For once I just wanted a normal character, so here's hoping book 2 delivers on that front!

3. Getting picky, that cover is NOT doing it for me! The cover for Frost Mate was ridiculously attractive (seriously, go take another look at that bad boy), but this one sparks thoughts of a really bad shifter romance. I'm fairly certain I passed this by when it first made it to Booksirens because that's exactly what I thought it was. I guess that teaches me to not judge a book by its cover!

Thank you to Booksirens, the publishers, and Elle Beaumont and Candace Robinson for the copy of this book. The opinions expressed above are my own.

Winter Romance

Such a cute, steamy, magical winter romance and a great start to a new series.

Aeryx is a warrior in Morozko's army in the world of Frosteria. He is one of the best warriors who can change snow into weapons. His goal is to seek vengeance against those who brought ruin to his home but when he is sent on a mission to track down changelings terrorizing the mortal realm his plans soon change.

Noel is a rebel through and through. After the death of her mother she life changed. One night while out partying with her sorority she stumbles upon a monster. A monster she doesn't fear but who makes her question everything.

Aeryx and Noel were so cute together. Aeryx never wanted a mate; he believed in having a choice but something about Noel melted his frozen heart. Aeryx never knew that the little girl he saved years ago would not only remember him rescuing her but she would end up being his mate.

This story was more of a winter romance that could be enjoyed during the holidays or on a cold winter day. Aeryx and Noel had chemistry, the banter between the two was funny and they really gelled well together.

There was more to Noel that met the eye and she learned about who she was meant to be which only solidified her and Aeryx's bond. Looking forward to continuing this series.

Unique plot that could be the start of an interesting series...
Rating: 3/5 Stars

Thank you to the authors and Book Siren for allowing me an E-copy of this book to review! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. My comments and opinions are unbiased and completely my own. So, let's get down to business.

We all know you're not reading my review for a plot summary, but here's a quick one for you: Noel meets Aeryx, a Krampus, on a mission to collect and kill demons, basically. Classic romance story starts when his device to get home breaks and he is forced to hide out in the human realm.

Somehow this book just didn't do it for me. I really enjoyed the writing style, it was very casual and reminded me a lot of Ice Planet Barbarians. It definitely has that sort of casual humor to it. Sometimes it was funny, and sometimes... it wasn't.

The good:
- The magic/Krampus idea is really unique, it had the freedom to really explore and do whatever it wanted
- There were some cute/hot moments. I always like the good old "I don't know her but I'm weirdly possessive of her already."
- It was funny at times and I snorted several times

The bad:
- Noel is kinda annoying. She's like halfway to a "pick me!", and there's just no character changes or development. Like she gets wasted and dances with herself at a party in the first couple pages... I was already rolling my eyes at that. Then she climbs on a hairy dude and flirts with him before passing out. The vibe didn't hit for me.
-I assumed this was smut, but there was like... no smut? I mean there's nothing for over 50% of the book. If the authors were trying to build tension and desire, it wasn't there. Plus, there was no other plot or anything to do, why wouldn't they just chill and fuck?
- There was no plot. It was boring and I didn't see it going anywhere. I wish they would have gotten back to the Krampus world earlier and explored a little more about how she adjusted to society there.
- The End/Plot Twist.

I liked the book despite feeling pretty bored with it. The plot and character development wasn't there, but the authors were able to hint at some humor and world-building ideas that I think were interesting. I don't think I'd recommend it to many people, but for people interested in Fantasy Smut, it's worth a shot. I might give the next book in the series a go, simply because the bestie seemed interesting and I'm sure it's going to be more involved in the Krampus world.

If you read the prequel to this book then you were introduced to the series’s take on the Krampus stories. Well book one, Frost Claim, is still the same take on the Krampus stories, but has a Beauty & The Beast theme as well!

This book is SO GOOD!! I loved the main characters so much. Aeryx and Noel are so amazing together. Separately we learn a little about there lives and their thinking before she bumps into him at a Halloween party. But everything changes as these two draw closer, not realizing they’re fated mates.

Then the side characters are good too, especially Ivy, Noel’s best friend. She is such a great friend to Noel.

I don’t want to say too much more and end up giving away spoilers. But I can guarantee that you haven’t read ANYTHING like this. If you like Fated Mates stories or Forbidden Love stories, with an unusual twist and some interesting surprises, you will love this book!! But read the prequel first, or you may feel a little lost about certain IMPORTANT things!!

Genre: Fantasy/Romance/Holiday
Format: eBook (ARC)
Age Recommendation: 18+

A big thank you to Book Sirens, Elle Beaumont, and Candance Robinson for sending me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

A cozy, frosty, and chilly holiday read with action and a fantasy world to go along with it.

At first it took me a while to adjust to the writing style (about 30% in) because I’ve been reading a lot of first person lately, so reading this style of third person was jarring but that is more a me problem.

Very ‘Beauty and the Beast’. I love the ice horse and other magical animals/creatures and familiars. This book definitely picks up in the last 50% and I’m now looking forward to continuing the series with the next book.

Give this book a try if you enjoy:

~ Fated Mates
~ Holiday Reads
~ Beauty and the Beast
~ Winter Wonderland
~ Krampus Retelling
~ Demons/changelings
~ Sorority House

I loved Frost Mate, the prequel novella for this series, so it was great to see what those characters were up to but also have the story continue with the next generation. Noel and her friends were so much fun. I wasn't into the whole sorority thing when I was at university, but I would had a blast hanging out with them. I loved Aeryx, but Tika stole my heart. Who wouldn't love an ice horse friend?!? This was such a fun Krampus/Beauty and the Beast story. While I was reading it, there was a character I wished we knew more about. And wouldn't you know it, but the next book will be centered on them. I am so freaking excited!

Frost Claim is a well written constant moving book. There's never a moment where there is filler pages. I enjoyed this read. The second half was totally unputdownable. The ice horse is a thing of beauty. The world building in this book is spot on, setting up for the next book perfectly. Can't wait for book two.

Well, that was a lot of fun! I've said before that Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorite fairy tales, and this was a fun riff on that tale. This is a "fated mates" tale, and Elle Beaumont and Candace Robinson work well together. I have no idea who wrote what or what their process was, but the writing was seamless and the story flowed very well.

Aeryx and Noel were awesome characters and I loved the banter between them. I also loved her roommate Ivy and the obvious love between the two of them. I can't wait to read more about Ivy in future books. One of my favorite authors for "fated mates" stories is Ellie/L.E. Horn, but her books are aimed at a more adult audience than this. I'd definitely classify this as older YA, even with the explicit sex scenes. The only thing that kept it from being a full 5 stars was that even as I felt the connection between the two of them, I didn't feel the urgency of the danger they were facing both in Frosteria and in the human realm.

There was apparently a prequel that centered around Aeryx's father and stepmom, and I plan on reading it, but I didn't feel like I missed anything by reading this one first.

If you enjoy retellings, the "fated mates" trope, and fun banter, you should definitely check out this series.

Thanks to BookSirens for the ARC of this! Here're my thoughts.

I didn't fall as hard for this as I had hoped but I am intrigued enough to considering continuing the series - although it may have just made me want to finish Ice Planet Barbarians more...

A glamour that makes him beastly in our world and not the other way around - it doesn't make a beast look human - is an interesting take that I appreciated. And I liked that Noel had faults and that she was badass, even if that made her somewhat reckless - she acknowledged that it did.

The spicy Krampus reimagining I never knew I needed. I loved the retro pop culture references and the fact that on a small level this is a Beauty & the Beast reimagining. Now that I'm done with the prequel and book one... I can't wait to meet more Demons of Frosteria.

I had a feeling this book would include Aeryx and the girl they returned, and it did! Very cute story. I love how they both felt odd about fate, but at the end they really came together on their own and it all worked out. Excited to read the next when it comes out!

I received a free copy of this book from Booksirens, and this is my honest review.

I'll give the author credit, I don't know of many people writing romances with krampi... there was good worldbuilding related to the krampi... it was unique? I don't know.

Frost Claim follows the life of college student Noelle as she stumbles upon a krampus named Aeryx, who's portal stone has broken, meaning he can't get home. What ensues is a forced proximity romance/instalove between a human and a krampus; a krampus that is glamoured to look like a beast in the human world? I know this is supposed to be a Beauty and the Beast retelling, but that just feels so odd to me. Wouldn't glamours make it so they looked like beasts in their own realm, but normal in the human realm to avoid detection? Even if that weren't the case, you would think the krampi would try to do something to change it... although I guess it reinforces the decree that humans and krampi shouldn't mix? I was basically scratching my head throughout a lot of this romance that bordered on beastiality (I really don't know how to feel about that last part, but if that's your kink, then all the power to you). None of the characters really had that much depth, there was little to no character development, the magic system and rules were introduced as they became relevant, which made everything feel super, "Well that's convenient," to me. Even the twist at the end with Aeryx and Noelle and Noelle specifically felt completely random with minimal setup. Also, Noelle was just annoying at times.

Overall, Frost Claim drew me in enough to finish in one sitting, but my mind wasn't blown or anything. Even the sex scenes, which had good build up, felt incredibly rushed and underwhelming, but that might just be because of how much tension was created? I don't know.

The leads had the romantic chemistry of eating food when you're totally congested from a cold and can't taste anything. Or worse, stale toast. I.e., could I tolerate them? Yes. Were they enjoyable or fun to read? No. The characters from the novella previous to this had WAY better chemistry, with way fewer pages and way less character development.

Of note: the leads in this ALSO were stale as individual characters. I honestly did not care for either of them.

It may also be I'm in my 30s, but the college setting/antics and the FMC's life could not have interested me less. I find 17 year old YA action/adventure FMC's more interesting than this one, so it's not because of the age group.

The premise and magical setting of this were very intriguing, but the execution just wasn't there.

The sex scenes were written well--but with these boring characters, the scenes were flat/boring to read.

I now wonder if my enjoyment of the "Vampires in Wonderland" and "Faeries of Oz" series was Amber R. Duell's doing, because Candace Robinson paired up with Elle Beaumont has lead to mediocre or boring works so far...

I'm cautiously looking forward to reading "Slaying the Frost King" from the upcoming "Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers" multi-author series, if only because the brief interlude with Morozko and his bride was one of the few intriguing moments in Frost Claim. I'll be sad if that disappoints me, too.

Last note: I read two NON-FICTION books (which is NOT my genre, to say the least) while trying to finish this one smutty fantasy novel. And guess what? The non-fiction books were way better.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I really enjoyed this. It is a spin off on the "Krampus" myths; though other than the name the Krampus are totally reimagined (I had to look it up on Wikipedia, lol!) Per Wiki, the Krampus is the opposite of Santa Claus, while Santa brings gifts to children who have been "good", Krampus punishes children who have been "bad". THIS BOOK DOES NOT GO THERE.

Short version, the Krampus are a close to humanoid race who live in a parallel world or Universe to Earth & are basically humanoid with horns, magic that revolves around COLD, & their main adversaries are the "Changelings"; "lesser" but very evil Demons. No spoilers, so I'll stop there. This is a "Romantic" paranormal, so there is a "mated" couple whose story the book revolves around, & this is NOT a book for children or young teens.

It's also different for me to see Ms. Beaumont do a collaboration, but it worked out fine.

The characters were believable, & well though out. Looking forward to the other 2 planned books in the series. We were not left with a cliffhanger (This could definitely be read as a standalone), so the authors created a theme for the next book in the epilogue.

Frost Claim is a nice semi-holiday, semi-monster romance. The writing is enjoyable and book is fast paced. Overall, the two main characters do work well together, and the attraction between the two of them is believable. The main female character is initially a little abrupt and abrasive, but she proves herself to be quick witted and fun as the book goes on. By contrast, the main male character is almost a rule loving stick in the mud. Watching the two work together was exciting and fun.

My only complaint is that the world building and descriptions are a bit rushed. It would have been nice to have more descriptions on what a mate bond feels like. Characters mentioned that they can feel the bond but don't explain exactly what that means. Does a bond mean that you now feel all the emotions of your mate? Does it feel like a pit in your stomach? A connection to something greater than yourself?

Overall, this was an enjoyable romance with a touch of Beauty and the Beast for people who prefer Festivus to Christmas.

Once again I'd like to extend my thanks to Candace for granting me an arc of Frost Claim.

In Frost Mate we got to read Korreth and Zira's story, a short novella leading into the main series. While Frost Claim can be read without the prequel it's highly recommended that you read Frost Mate.

Frost Claim follows Aeryx, Korreth's son, a minor character from the prequel who is now all grown up and a soldier in the Frost King's army, along with his father. He finds himself stuck in the human world and begrudgingly accepts the help of Noel, a rare human who doesn't appear to be afraid of him. The two help each other and begin to feel for one another deeply.

I will say it was a little weird knowing that Noel was thirsting over someone who literally looked like a beast, but it wasn't off-putting at all, it's just not something I usually read. That said I fully enjoyed their interactions and loved watching their love blossom.

I can't wait for Efraun and Ivy's story!

This is book one of the Demons of Frosteria series. It’s a Krampus Beauty and the Beast fated mates romance. From of the start of the book you are drawn in and can’t put it down. This book has a strong, well-developed and an interesting story line with twists and unexpected turns keep you reading and turning the pages. It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. Amazing world building that is detailed and imaginative and so well done that you're drawn into a fantastic world unlike any other. Strong, interesting, and fascinating characters that are well developed and diverse. The storyline is fast-paced and very well written, filled with magic, Fae, danger, death, politics, intrigue, and subterfuge. The plot thickens, the suspense builds, and the passion erupts! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.

Thank you to booksirens and the authors for allowing me the E-ARC of Frost Claim.

My thoughts are my own.

We had the first glimpse into Frosteria with the novella of Frost Mate, which was a prequel.
Frost claim is the first novel in the Demons of Frosteria series.
I found Frost Claim written well and the pace was fast, I finished it within a day and actually stayed up until midnight so I could finish. I had to know what happens.
This novel is a twist on the Krampus lore(which I'm not 100% up on) and Beauty and the Beast.
I love the world of Frosteria and the twistyness to the story is great.
I love how Noel is written, she's sassy and relatable, she feels like a real person who you could be friends with.
Aeryx is just swoon, you fall for him from the moment he's on the page. He's well written and a great character.

I do find myself wondering if it's also wrong to want a beast myself.

I can't wait for the next installment

Meh... The original concept of the krampus as well as a Beauty and the Beast twist really got me interested in reading this book however other than the MMC looking like a beast in the human realm there wasn't much else that made this Beauty and the Beast related. This book gave me major secondhand embarrassment for some of the FMC's actions, bordering on cringey. The whole book centered around changelings and yet the ending/solution to the problem they posed seemed extremely rushed, almost like tying up a loose thread. The romance was great, I like that it wasn't insta-love and they didn't just fall into bed together straight away. Steaminess was good but nothing outstanding, seemed to all be concentrated in the last third of the book. I wanted to love this but I think it just wasn't for me.

I received an advance review copy for free from Booksirens. This review is voluntary and solely my opinion.

Loved this!

This was truly a unique story! I loved this first book in the Demons of Frosteria series. Aeryx is know as a Krampus, which in the human realm look like monstrous beasts but more human in their own realm but with horns. Unlike the fairy tales have it, they are not like what we think. They actually only steal the children who have been possessed by the demon's from their realm, take them back to Frosteria to remove and burn the demon, then return the child home. One night on a mission, aeryx is distracted by a human party and more specifically with Noel. Noel, a college student, just thinks his beast is a costume since they are at a costume party.
They get thrown together later when she follows him and realizes just what he really is and vows to help him.
Their path becomes even more entangled when she follows him back to his realm.... Wowza! Absolutely loved this story!!!

Okay I loved this book! I read the novella first and I think that’s the best way to start this series. It really gives you an insight to the world so you can just dive right in with this book.

This was my first really monster book and I think it’s a great one to start off with. It gives beauty and the beast vibes. Then we get Krampus lore thrown in as well! This book really kept my attention throughout the entire story. I loved Aeryx and Noel’s relationship and how Aeryx really supports Noel and includes her in things.

One thing that I’m not a fan of is the cover of the book. It just doesn’t really make me want to read the book. But this book is a great example of why not to judge a book based on the cover!

I can’t wait for the next book to see the next couple! I’m not going to say who but I can’t wait!!!
