Allen Rodol is a bullied young man. He can deal with the constant stream of abuse, but when someone insults his family, Allen snaps and challenges the assailant to a winner-take-all duel. He has no hope of winning, but a weird old man appears in the depths of Allen's despair. The old man calls himself the Time Hermit and offers Allen a mysterious item. It allows Allen to train for 100 Million Years per press. Allen decides to press the button ten times.
With one billion years of training, Allen uses his newfound abilities to live his best life. He enters an elite school, and several tropes happen all at once. He sees one of the main characters in her underwear, and she is a fiery-tempered princess. It's one of those situations where someone changed the sign.
There are problems with the story, but most of them come from the psychological impact of loneliness. I mean, he's alone for one billion years. Solitary confinement is a punishment for a reason, after all.
I enjoyed the book. Thanks for reading my review, and see you next time.
Hard work as a cheat skill is a different concept. Will also be able to drop some clever flash backs down the road. My only gripe would be with that much training way would he ever struggle?
It has just a hint of intrigue, enough to make you want to read further. Unfortunately, you have to navigate a minefield of suspended disbelief without tripping over brain dead characters with too many skills for their IQ. 😕
The art is fine, and the storyline is cute if generic. There is a glimmer of hope for a bigger plot, but it may just be lost to the battle focused theme.
If you wanted to sum it up with comparing to other manga, I guess I'd describe it as "a store brand knock off love child between fairytale and food wars"?
