Katelyn Phillips cannot feel a thing. She is numb to the world, deprived of all physical sensations. Not a touch; not a hug. Not even a kiss. Desperate for a connection that is forever out of her reach, for that’s the vampire’s curse. Such desperation is enough to drive one mad.

She has been bitten and abandoned. Fear is ready to consume her when she wakes up at the dead of night in a mysterious manor with no clue how she got there. Cut off from the living world, she faces a life of endless night as she fights to control her mind and her throbbing thirst for blood. But she is not alone.

A clan of misfit vampires extends a hand of fellowship, willing to help and teach her their ways, but a red eyed demon lurks in the uppermost room of the manor; a monster that would love to kill anything in sight, even someone like Kate. And her so-called new ‘friends’ may not be all that they seem. Yet, even greater dangers lay hidden, just within the line of shadows.

As secrets mount, Kate’s sanity begins to slip. Can she uncover the mysteries of how she became a vampire and those of the clan itself, or she will lose all connection to her past, present, and future to the monster that has infected her blood?

Fans of paranormal mystery will find a story full of intrigue, mystery, and dark secrets that will have you up all night looking for answers.

Raye T. Watson grew up in Northern California near the capital of Sacramento where she continues to live with her family. She is the only girl and second oldest of four children. She graduated Brigham Young University – Idaho with a bachelor's degree and a minor in English. She enjoys learning and being a jack-of-all-trades.

As a kid, she actually did not like reading as a kid because her reading level was slight below average compared to other kids in her grade, but she loves most anything with a story: movies, TV shows, video games. But when her parents took her and her brothers to see the first Harry Potter movie. Watson was so enthralled with this magical world, she read books 1-4 before the second film was released in theaters. And thus, her love of reading was born.

Watson had always loved creating her own stories, whether it was creating new characters to fix the TV show plotlines during the commercials or playing games of make believe with her younger brother, but once she started reading, she began to write. None of her written stories ever got far, but she dreamed it all in her mind.

In early 2010, she got her first glimpse of what would become her debut novel, Bloodlink. She’d always loved vampires and the spooky thrills of Halloween, and having finished the Twilight Series and Dracula, she began to define her own kind of vampire.

Watson continues to write to this day and enjoys drawing and painting in her free time. She created the cover art and title page art for her book and hopes to publish more art and books in the years to come.

I had a great time with this mystery. It has all vampire lovers could want but for once it's not all about vampire romance though that is not completely void. I really felt it was a vampire mystery not a romance which was refreshing. Fans of more trational vampire stories will enjoy this. (Note: I did receive a ARC.)

Great Mystery with More to Come

If you like a good mystery with some paranormal thrown in this is your book. Set in England with an American narrator helps the world come together for those Americans who are trying to get the slang. But it's the dark mysterious elements of the nature of the vampires and their characters that makes this book stand out.

I've not ready many vampire stories that aren't 100% dedicated to romance and this one is not and it was a really refreshing change. I was giving and ARC copy to read and review. If it had been all romance I'd not have picked it up. But there still are romantic elements to be sure.

This would be a Halloween to-read must! So if you like vampires, mystery, and enjoy all things Halloween this is your book.

The story is thrilling start to finish. I love the characters as well as their development through the story. The idea that vampires are numb is an interesting twist that I don't think I've seen anywhere else. Originally, I gave this 4 stars on Amazon because I thought it could have done with a bit more polish, like some minor errors that were missed, and the cover was really dark. But since then they have come out with a newer addition that fixed those mistakes and the cover is much better now. Truly loved this book!

When I heard this was a vampire book, I was expecting something like Twilight…but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not another nauseating romance. :) Here’s to female protagonists who can think for themselves! This book has elements of adventure, mystery, accompanied by relatable internal conflicts. Some very surprising plot twists at the end. I gasped audibly—more than once.

Of course, I love this book. I wrote it! Sometimes I have my doubts about it, but then I read it and fall in love with the character all over again. Can't wait to keep writing more!
