Her Unforgettable Knight is a fantastic and swoon-worthy conclusion to the Protectors of the Crown series, and I adored Marguerite and Savaric’s romance! Both characters were introduced in previous books in the series, and I couldn’t wait to read more about them. They had such chemistry, and I knew their story was going to make my heart melt. Between their romance and the heart-punding mystery they unravel, the story is gripping and entertaining from beginning to end.

Marguerite is fierce, intelligent, and passionate, and she is determined to clear her father’s name and regain her family’s land. She is a stealthy spy too, and she even saves Savaric (and herself) a time or two, much to Savaric’s surprise. She’s a woman who is underestimated, and this helps her gain information that would otherwise be difficult to obtain. She is such a fantastic and dynamically developed character with an interesting backstory, purpose, and life.

Savaric is also very compelling and layered, and he faces many obstacles throughout the story, both internal and external. One of the biggest issues is his heritage. A man of two races, Savaric often faces bigotry and racism, and he is treated and spoken about terribly. His story highlights the prejudice and racism people faced and continue to face because of their background and the color of their skin. In the Author’s Note, Oliver talks about the racism and bigotry people faced in Medieval England, and through Savaric and other minor characters’ experiences, these prejudices are exposed.

Savaric is a member of the Knight’s Fortitude alongside the MMCs from the previous two books. If you read the first two books, A Defiant Maiden’s Knight and A Stolent Knight’s Kiss, you’ll be thrilled to know the main characters in those books have secondary roles in this book. I love all of these characters, and their teasing camaraderie is hilarious. But above all, these men and women always have each other’s backs, and they know they can depend on each other. I love this, especially for Savaric and Marguerite, since neither has others they can depend on. These protectors of the crown form a sort of family, and there are a lot of great messages about loyalty, trust, friendship, and (my favorite) love.

Marguerite and Savaric have a fantastic second-chance romance that starts off quite antagonistic and distrustful. Two years before the start of the story, Savaric spurned Marguerite, and they haven’t seen each other since. Now they must work together to protect the crown from the Duo Dracones, much to their dismay. Marguerite still feels the sting of rejection, and though Savaric was trying to protect her, he hurt her deeply. I loved seeing how they dealt with their issues as they became more open and honest with each other. However, many things keep them apart, and these internal and external conflicts seem insurmountable. Of course, their feelings for each other are undeniable, regardless of how they try to resist them, and you can slice the sexual tension between them with a knife. Marguerite and Savaric have so much chemistry that hearts almost started floating off the page as I read.

Throughout the series, the Knight’s Fortitude tries to unravel a nefarious plot to take over the Crown, and we finally learn who’s behind it. The Duo Dracones has always been a step ahead, but Marguerite and Savaric, with the help of their allies, won’t stop until the traitors are exposed and apprehended. This overarching plot is intriguing and suspenseful, and the high-stakes situation reaches its dangerous and shocking climax in this story. I love how Marguerite and Savaric slowly learn more about the Duo Dracones. They find clues and evidence in unexpected places, and their investigation grows more and more intense as the story progresses. And the ending is so intense! I actually read the final chapters twice just so I could experience the emotional and climactic unraveling.

This is a wonderful ending to an amazing historical romance series, though I expected no less from a Melissa Oliver novel. I always adore her books and the layered and dynamic characters and love stories she creates. And the epilogue is THE BEST – a lovely and perfect ending to the series.

Special thanks to Melissa Oliver for sending me a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Her Unforgettable Knight tells the story of Savaric Fitz Leonard, a knights of the King, and Marguerite Studdal, impoverished noblewoman, that try to find who's conspiring against the crown.

Savaric and Marguerite meets again after two years. They aren't happy for how they left things in the past, so they aren't too enthusiastic when they find out they have to work together.

I loved these characters, they are written perfectly. Savaric is broody and serious, Marguerite is acute and strong headed, they are great together. I appreciated how Marguerite fearless attitude helped Savaric to finally recognise his real worth. I was really involved in their lives, I felt their emotions into my bones, and wished for their happily ever after throughout the book.

Melissa Oliver writing was really good, the storyline well crafted, and the suspense made me chew my fingernails.

This book is the third in the series but it could be read as a standalone, but I suggest to read the other novels too because every Knights Fortitude story deserves to be read.

A delightful end to the series
5 stars

This is the third and final book in the Protectors of the Crown series. Each follows one of a trio of Knights Fortitude - highly skilled and trained soldiers that work, mostly undercover, to protect the English crown - as they find and fall in love. This last story focuses on Savaric Fitz Leonard and Marguerite Studal - characters we’ve met in the previous books. But I don’t think you have to have read either earlier book to understand and enjoy Savaric and Marguerite’s tale.

Savaric and his fellow Knights are really close to bringing down the Duo Dracone - a sinister organisation determined to bring down the Crown. (This part of the plot has been running through all three books but seriously, you’ll be fine if you’re new to the series or Melissa Oliver!) I do enjoy a mystery to be solved and a little bit of skullduggery, so this added element to the book was both intriguing and fun. It also helped to throw our couple together which was a nice added bonus.

Savaric seemed to me to be both a flamboyant character as well as someone who had a mystery about him. Being of mixed heritage, he’s treated differently - and indifferently - so he understandably feels set apart from others. Yet he’s also very dedicated to his cause and is quick on his feet. His past interactions with Marguerite - told to us by both characters throughout the story - left him feeling out of sorts which led to him hurting her for what he thinks is her own good. It sounded like a stupid male move - but as the book continues, we get to see why he feels this way and I could see his reasoning. But I do so like to see men like this fall and fall hard.

It’s always nice to see feisty, heroic heroines, especially in times when they would more likely have been overlooked or dismissed. Marguerite, when she first met Savaric, was a shy and quiet girl. But since his departure, she turned into a deadly, independent and fierce woman who is hell-bent on getting what she wants. She just has to convince Savaric that they want the same thing. And I was 100% convinced she would get her man.

I always love a second-chance romance - even if, as in this case, nothing really happened between our pair previously. But there’s still hurt, especially on Marguerite’s side, which means anger and dislike. Anger and dislike that gives sparks between our couple and delicious feelings in me. Marguerite and Savaric definitely have chemistry - whether fighting each other, fighting their feelings or getting down to the loving - and I was here for it. While there are sexual situations (and good ones), our couple never actually go all the way. But it felt right for the story and the emotions and chemistry were still there throughout.

I’ve really enjoyed my time with the Knights Fortitude and the Protectors of the Crown series. Melissa Oliver always writes in a way that I can feel myself in the medieval world that she builds for her characters - the good and the bad of it! This was definitely my favourite of the three books and not just because there was a lovely, happy endings for all type epilogue that perfectly concluded what has been a fun and immersive set of stories. I’m looking forward to the next adventures that Ms Oliver will take us on. 5 stars for this story and very much recommended.

4.5 stars, rounded up.

After two years, Knight Savaric Fitz Leonard never thought he would see Marguerite Studdal, the woman who has haunted him since he walked away from her, letting her believe that he was not interested in her, which was far from the truth. As a biracial man, he has often been the object of bigotry and prejudice, so despite his attraction to her, he believes by pushing her away, he is protecting her from the abuse his heritage will cause her. But now she is here and to add insult to injury, she saves him when he was attacked as he was going to return to where he had seen her last to save her. He is floored to learn that she is in service to Hubert de Burgh, the man Savaric and his fellow Knights of Fortitude have sworn fealty to. He is even more dismayed to learn that his fellow knights knew she was working for Hubert and kept the knowledge from him. Now to protect the Crown from the threat of the Duo Dracones, they will have to work together, will he be able to walk away again?

After Savaric left her, Marguerite made a deal with Hubert de Burgh, she will work for him to bring down the Duo Dracones and in exchange, he will posthumously absolve father’s name as a traitor to the crown and return his title and confiscated lands to her brother. She is not the same woman that Savaric walked away from, she is no longer the innocent, timid lady he knew, after two years working undercover in Paris she is a cunning, dangerous agent who can take care of herself. And while she is still attracted to him, she won’t make the same mistake of trusting him with her heart again. Working together, they begin to unravel the mystery of Duo Dracones and grow closer as they do. Will they finally give in to their feelings or will the past repeat itself?

This was such a wonderful book, it is well-written, perfectly paced, and filled with intrigue. I loved this story, I was impressed by Marguerite and felt a lot of compassion for Savaric – it was very easy to get invested in and root for their journey to HEA. The story is filled with secrets, evil sects, wonderful secondary characters, cameos from previous characters, lots of sexual tension, and finally a HEA that didn’t seem possible. This is the third and final book in the series and while the author gives enough backstory to read this book as a standalone, do yourself a favor and read the series in order – believe me, it will make the ending so much more satisfying!

In her latest Medieval historical romance, Her Unforgettable Knight, award-winning author Melissa Oliver has written a dazzling tale spiced with action, passion and intrigue that readers will be completely mesmerized by.

Two years ago, Marguerite had been head over heels in love with Savaric. Unfortunately, she quickly learned that Savaric was not the man she had thought he was because he had left her unexpectedly and left her heartbroken and determined never to trust another man again. Since then, Marguerite has become a hardened spy who had erected an impenetrable wall around herself and her heart. Romance is the very last thing occupying her mind, however, all of her resolves come crashing down when Savaric comes back into her life and turns her entire life on its head.

Finding him outnumbered in a fight, Marguerite is left with no other choice but to rescue Savaric – and from the minute she sees him again, all her old feelings come rushing back. After he had left her two years ago, Marguerite is naturally wary about trusting him with her heart again and plans to give him as wide a berth as possible. However, that quickly proves to be easier said than done when she finds herself having to work closely with him in order to protect the crown. Will this be an opportunity for Marguerite and Savaric to vanquish old ghosts and grasp this unexpected chance at happiness? Or will their past continue to come between them and ruin any hope they might have had of a future together?

Melissa Oliver’s passionate, dramatic and engrossing Medieval tales continue to cement her position as one of historical romance’s most talented writers and in Her Unexpected Knight, she has once again penned a captivating tale that is a struggle to put down. Her Unexpected Knight is a second chance historical romance full of evocative period details, non-stop action, intense emotion and heart-stopping romance with a strong and intelligent heroine and a brooding and charismatic hero.

Perfect for readers who want to be swept back in time, Her Unexpected Knight is an enjoyable Medieval romance by Melissa Oliver.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Oh my gosh, I couldn’t believe I had finished this last instalment of the Protectors of the Crown, Savaric and Marguerite’s story, in one sitting when I still wanted to devour it. It had me spellbound!

The intrigue and suspenseful opening was masterly and spectacularly captivating as Marguerite meets Savaric during their mission in order to gain information of the Duo Dracones. As far as I reckoned, Marguerite was gentle, too innocent and compassionate but after what she has been through, she now is strong, independent and talented agent who works for the same lord as Savaric’s. Well, Savaric isn’t the only person whom gets astounded by the change of Marguerite, so did I.

Despite the issue, Savaric and Marguerite have to work together and it doesn’t stop the desire Savaric suffering from even after two years towards her. His origin has prevented him from getting closer to her and it is so excruciating to feel his anguish. Savaric might have unusual looks however his huge stature, handsome features and remarkable hat have always caught my heart.

I enjoyed an amazingly intricate conflict between the traitors of the King and Protectors of the Crown, the banter, the intrigue, the heart-pounding plot and everything within. How Savaric and Marguerite clear up the hovering issue and their love against the odd is truly wonderful. I loved it and its epilogue! This miniseries of the Protectors of the Crown has absolutely left a deep meaning within my heart. Thank you, Melissa Oliver, for the digital ARC which I voluntary reviewed.

This is the third in the Protectors of the Crown series. While you could read it as a standalone, I would recommend reading the previous book, A Stolen Knight's Kiss, first as some of the storyline carries over.

I love a second chance at romance trope, so I was excited to get stuck into Her Unforgettable Knight!

As with the rest of the series, Her Unforgettable Knight is filled with loveable characters, good historical details with some mild peril to add a bit of intrigue along the way.

Marguerite is back in England after working undercover in France. Her first day back, she runs into knight Savaric Fitz Leonard, who captured her heart two years earlier, then broke it. They are forced to work together to try to take down the threat to the crown, but their obvious attraction to each other gets in the way.

I loved how much Marguerite had grown. She went from being the daughter of an aristocrat to the streets of London, but hadn't quite lost her soft nature. Now she's strong and deadly with a dagger and gives Savaric a run for his money!

I enjoyed learning more about Savaric, too. He's a bit of a mystery throughout the other two books. The way he's treated throughout his life made me really feel for him and angry on his behalf.

Her Unforgettable Knight was a well written and captivating historical romance.

I can't wait to see what Melissa Oliver writes next!

The last person that Marguerite thought she would see was Savaric, a member of the Knights Fortitude. It has been two years since she last saw Savaric, a member of the Knights Fortitude who she fell for before he disappeared. Now Marguerite and Savaric will be working together will they be able to rekindle what was between them.

We are first introduced to Marguerite and Savaric in A Stolen Knight’s Kiss which is the second book in the Protectors of the Crown series. They are secondary characters and the book explored the meeting and relationship between Eva and Nicholas. I really liked Marguerite when she first appeared in the second book so I was really pleased to see that the next book focused on her character and we were able to find out more about her.

There were so many things I liked about the story. It was filled with mystery, intrigue, drama and also romance. Marguerite and Savaric are so similar in that they care about each other immensely but never express vocally how they feel. It’s clear that something happened between them two years ago and now they keep each other at arm’s length. Marguerite feels that she was rejected by Savaric but she doesn’t know why. It is later revealed in the book why Savaric turned away from Marguerite. He wasn’t rejecting her but trying to protect her from his past. So when they meet again for the first time there are a lot of tense scenes between them. I loved the interactions between Marguerite and Savaric because it crossed from playfulness, to seriousness to something akin to two lovers having a tiff. One of my favourite scenes from the book was when Marguerite and Savaric are told they will be working together and they decide to shake hands but Savaric holds Marguerite’s hand that little bit longer. He holds her hand so gently and tenderly. It was such a unique moment and such a powerful scene where the characters expressed how they felt about each other without speaking and it will be a scene that will always come to mind when I think about this book. When Savaric said he would be Marguerite’s champion on her personal mission to vindicate her father’s name my heart melted.

I would highly recommend this series if you love historical romance.

This is the story of Savaric and Marguerite, which is told over the course of 18 Chapters plus an epilogue. This is book 3 in the 'Protectors of the Crown' series by Melissa Oliver.
This book is all about two people reconnecting, who are very much still in love with each other. Readers get the chance to watch as their story unfolds right when these two characters meet each other again for the first time in two years!
This book will keep readers addicted from start to finish. Not only do these two meet each other again in very unique circumstances but there is also an action fight scene not long after. All of that is just chapter one!
Now don't worry this isn't a book where the girl constantly needs saving by her love interest. Oh no Marguerite can definitely hold her own in this book, and readers get to see this straight away in the afore mentioned action fight scene. One thing about this book is that Savaric is mixed race, meaning the reader gets to see his journey and how he is treated during this time period.
Overall this is a well written book that readers will find easy to get stuck into.

Her Unforgettable Knight is the final book in the Protectors of the Crown series, and oh my goodness what a series it has been. I have loved every moment of the mystery and intrigue element of the continuing story within the series. Although you could technically read this book on its own, I cannot recommend highly enough that you read the series in order.

This romance is the one I have been waiting for, of Savaric and Marguerite, and Melissa Oliver really did not disappoint in the way their story was presented. Savaric was the strong and silent type earlier in the story, who had an instant connection with Marguerite but was reluctant to commit, and he had broken her heart two years earlier. Within Her Unforgettable Knight it became more clear that he felt burdened by being mixed race in medieval England, and did not want Marguerite to be tarnished by association. It was sobering to think that the reactions of people around him in the 13th century are still prevalent in society now. What Savaric did not count on was the strength and determination within Marguerite.

Marguerite changed following her broken heart, and meeting her again after two years apart, she was very different in temperament than she had been. In the intervening time she had trained relentlessly to work as a spy, which had toughened her up and provided her with skills not normally associated with women. I loved her feisty character and the way in which she would not give up on Savaric. There was such a steamy tension between them, and in spite of themselves, every time they touched they found it almost impossible to resist.

The intrigue and tension with the Duo Dracones, the traitors intent on causing conflict, ramped up as the story progressed, as we became aware of an additional traitor involved. It provided some really anxiety-inducing moments as both Savaric and Marguerite were in danger.

Her Unforgettable Knight was a gorgeously steamy romance set amidst treachery, traitors and incredibly tense moments. It was the ideal conclusion to the series, a series that has made me fall head over heels for medieval romance.

Savaric and Marguerite had met before. He had saved her but then pushed her away because she was too good for him. She fled the country, and on her return, she ended up saving him. They are then forced to work together. I just loved their 'will they, won't they' spicy romance. The chemistry was electric.

There is a lot of tension with the Duo Dracones who are still trying to bring down the Crown and plant one of their own in the royal household. I loved the history behind the clipping of the coins to make bullions to pay for the downfall of the Crown.

Although this is part of a series, it is easily read as a standalone. I've loved it from cover to cover.

Here we have the conclusion to the Protectors of the Crown series and what a treat this one is!

Savaric Fitz Leonard is a knight of the King who Marguerite Studdal had a very close connection with two years previously but he left her quite unexpectedly. In this installment the great knight returns just as unexpectedly. The pair find themselves in a situation where they are required to work together!

Their aim is to try and find out who's conspiring against the crown, the chemistry between the two of them soon goes through the roof and I found myself being pulled into their world!

Amazingly well written and put together, first class characters and engaging storytelling!

It’s been two years since Marguerite has seen Savaric and although the two have chemistry Marguerite must keep her heart guarded and treat working together on a professional bases if she wants to save her father.

Although this is a romance I enjoyed the narrative of the story and the mystery involved. Oliver again gives us a fantastic main female lead who is strong-willed and cunning throughout.

This is the third and final instalment in the series, and although I read the second book I had missed out on the first, but I have to say I loved this book the most. However, I have book one on my TBR plan to go back through the series as I enjoyed these characters so much.

Her Unforgettable Knight is the third instalment of the Protectors of the Crown series but can easily be read as a stand-alone.

Not only was this a Historical Romance but it also had mystery vibes which I really enjoyed!

I loved the relationship between Savaric and Marguerite - the forced proximity trope worked well with these two characters.

My Top 5 things from this book:

•Feisty Heroine
•Forced Proximity Trope
•Historical Romance
•Dual Perspective
•Series or Stand-alone
