It was only supposed to be a one-night stand
Madeleine Sow had always had a crush on Giuseppe “Joey” DeLuca. She just wanted one night with him before she was forced into an arranged marriage by her monster of a father to the congressman’s son in exchange for this business influence and legitimacy. Since Maddy was fourteen years old she’d fallen head over heels for the orphaned mafia prince. All she wanted was for her fantasy to come true for one night to carry her for the rest of her life in a loveless marriage. Joey agreed because he too fantasized about Maddy. But that one night led to a series of events that changed everything. Joey didn’t want just one night, he wanted forever.
This unleashed the wrath of the monster that was Paul Sow upon both his wife and daughter. But this was the last straw for Maddy’s mother Nina. Hell knows no fury like a woman scorned and she’d been beaten enough and Maddy was off-limits and that was the last straw for her. Thank goodness for mothers who plan.
Joey vowed to protect Maddy and make sure they got their HEA. Through a slip in judgment, Paul Sow almost got his revenge but that was short-lived due to Joey’s tenacity and remembering talks with his now-deceased father. Her father was a monster that your mothers warned you about and was taken down with the help of a mother so her daughter could live a full life of her choosing.
I enjoyed this short story. I wish it were just a little bit longer. The instant bond between Joey and Maddy was amazing. Nina Sow was just as tenacious at getting revenge as her husband was.

I Liked This Book
I liked how confident the FMC was and how protective he was of her. I wasn’t a big fan of Arlington so I’m so happy that she did not end up with him. I wish there was a first time trope and that he didn’t demand her to please him at their first encounter, that was cringey to me because he should’ve been more of a gentleman or just simply more polite. I wasn’t very surprised that he even slept with her right after her dad’s abuse. I thought he would allow her heal first. I love how when I kept reading the descriptions to the other stories, there was a story for her mom, Nina, and his security guard, Callum. But I had no idea that Callum lived in Boston considering he works in California. But I hope that Callum is an older gentleman so that he’s in Nina’s age range. I also wish the book would have included some friends of the FMC.

Giuseppe DeLuca is part of the Savage Bloodline series, yet it is a story that can be read without reading any of the other books in the series. I read this without any knowledge as I read it within Imani Jay’s Red Ink, and the lack of knowledge did not impact upon my understanding.
While many clearly adored this story, it did not work for me. There was not enough depth in the story, making it a collection of cliches that left me wishing there had been more. Add in the grammatical errors along with the way details never quite fully matched and this was a story that did not work for me.
If you’re looking for something quick that works as an escape, this clearly works for many. If you want more depth, you’re likely to be left wishing there had been more to the story.

Joey DeLuca is fire 🔥 it’s in the gene 🧬 SWOON WORTHY!
Maddie thought she would just get a taste 👅 and that would be enough. Wrong!! Joey is not someone you dangling the carrot at and take it away, not when he was always attracted to Maddie. Now that he has a good taste, he went after what he wanted and no one will stop him. I felt bad for Josh, he was a good guy & Paul Sow , that man deserved what he got. You go Nina!

Corporate Savagery!!!
I love the Giuseppe, Joey, is a corporate savage. Yeah, he is a DeLuca through and through and shows it by his demeanor. Nothing, and I meand NOTHING, keep him away from Madeline.
One night is not enough. Setting his claim at the dance exploded into revealing the truth about her family and her father's evilness. When she and her mother ran, Joey was her mother's first thought cause she understood what it meant for a DeLuca to state claim and protect what belongs to a DeLuca.

Joey and Maddie met as youngsters fell in love but they lived separate lives until Maddie got the courage to proposition Joey and their lives change. Joey name was sinonimus with monster but Madrid's dad was the monster beating and abusing his wife and, daughter when things don't go his way. This is my first book in this series and I only read it after reading Boston sour in the lunch time chronicles. I liked it I will be reading more I. This series.

Good
I enjoyed this book,not as in-depth as the other books very hot and steamy. I personally would have enjoyed a bit more focus on the characters and building out the story more. Would have been nice to get an update on Nina. Still an enjoyable read and contribution to the series.

A bold Sista she was!
Maddie went for what she wanted! Showed up at the mans job no less. Almost chickened out, but Joey DeLuca was having none of that. Just so happens he had a thing for her for a while too. I was not fond of that nasty man who made her. Her mom was a smart woman and I'm so happy she did what she did!

Paul Sow was an atrocious man. The way he treated his daughter and wife was awful. I'm glad Nina put her plan in motion when she did because I don't believe they would have survived the next beating. Joey was all in when it came to Maddie. I love that he was ready to protect her at all cost, even his life. ❤❤

It was just ok. The sex scenes comprised about 85% of the book. It was missing something and needed more substance. Not bad but not on par compared to the other installments in this series.

STEAMY…
Starting at the beginning of this book… until the end, it was steaming. Joey (Giuseppe) DeLuca had it going on and knew how to deliver. Although it isn’t what I’m used to when it comes to a Savage DeLuca story, I am not upset because of all the steamy sex.

A good short read with lots of good sex that takes up the whole story (never mad at that😊), but I was surprised at how short the story was and that there was never any suspenseful action. I definitely recommend this book for the steam alone... it doesn't lack on that.
