I’ve read 3 of the books in this series when I was younger and coming back to it now I found not as entertaining as it was when I was younger but it still was intriguing. Recommend if you like Pilkey. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟
We see Dog Man being the chief’s funny wingman when he courts Nurse Lady on a few dates, while Petey continues to try to be a different cat for his son. It’s definitely not long until a certain little piggy creates a gigantic flea-ridden plot which will have DG and his super buddies set sail on the sea. A- (91%/Excellent)
I feel like while we absolutely love Captain Underpants in my family, that Dog Man is just better. Captain Underpants got confusing and less funny, but Dog Man continues to get funnier with each book while also being completely wholesome and incorporating some hilarious inside jokes for the parents. Definitely a great purchase from the Book Fair.
I have no regrets buying this book after my son saw it at Target and literally ran to the display with excitement. That is the reading life I want for him.
This book was by far the weakest of all the Dog Man books we’ve read so far. I did immensely enjoy singing the “Friendly Friends” songs and the super gross falling into a sweat gland after shrinking was perfection as far as elementary school humor goes. But the plot was a little less cohesive and the “moral” was kind of muddy. Clearly Pete and Lil Petey were less cute in this one.
I am still surprised at how Dog Man has evolved from a series that I tolerated to read to my kids to a series where I eagerly read and enjoy them alongside my kids. We had a great time with this book. The Dog Man cast at this point is huge, and that just allows Pilkey to be even sillier with plot lines and character interactions. The plot wasn't necessarily memorable or that interesting, but I don't read Dog Man for plot. I read it for entertainment. And this book was very entertaining! We all loved it and will eagerly await the next installment.
Decided to read this book on my shift at toys r us while cashing out customers. Good book even without reading the other books within the series. Too many quick scene changes which did get a bit confusing in certain parts of the book. I recommend not to buy it at toys r us and just read it while being at the store. I personally thought that the funny scenes that were displayed in the book kept me engaged and I highly recommend that people skip over the first 10 books and just read this one.
