Addictive Vigilante Series!
Meet Emily Tizzano, a disgraced Chicago P.D. detective who was forced to leave her job under very unfair circumstances, but who has now found her true calling. Without the restrictions of an active law enforcement badge, she is better able to use her keen investigative skills to help people who have been failed by “the system”. Every hero needs a sidekick, and for Emily that would be her friend Mike, who possesses impressive computer skills and provides Emily with invaluable technical support. This series does not rely on wall-to-wall high-octane action, non-stop flying bullets, high-speed car chases, and bountiful explosions to keep your attention, but it certainly does have more than enough thrills and chills to convince you that Emily is definitely putting her life at risk for those people who have hired her to take care of their problems. In contrast, the much appreciated quieter moments of the stories are peppered with the warmth and smiles that only a dog like Miner (so named for the copious number of holes he digs in Emily’s backyard) can provide. This boxset collection contains the first three books of what I have found to be a truly addictive series. Each story offers a well-written plausible plot, interesting and believable characters, and is brimming with nail-biting suspense. Although each could be read as a standalone adventure, there are threads weaving them together. My guess is that you will want to binge read all three books back-to-back and then go looking for more. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys taut suspenseful thrillers with a vigilante slant.
BOOK 1 – TWELVE YEARS GONE – Emily takes on a case in which a desperate mother has been all but abandoned by law enforcement who have done next to nothing to locate her daughter, now missing for twelve long years.
BOOK 2 – LAKEVIEW VENDETTA – At her sister’s insistence, Emily reluctantly takes on a case out of her comfort zone when her sister’s friend has been targeted by a ruthless and highly effective con-man bent on destroying the woman personally, professionally, and financially in order to advance his own agenda.
BOOK 3 – VICTIM 14 – In this supremely chilling story, Emily travels to a small town in Louisiana to investigate a serial killer who takes one victim every six months and leaves only their torso floating in Little Bayou Pond.

There is a continuation of the main story arc that is Emily's life and how she copes with all the upheaval and changes and how it affects her relationships over the course of the 4 books in this series; but each book can be read as a stand-alone. There is still background information that we as readers are missing about the secondary characters that Emily interacts with, but maybe that will be addressed in later books?
There are elements in each book that I struggled with as I was reading but overall, the stories kept my attention enough to keep turning the pages.

Interesting!
Enjoyed the premise and the writing of this series. My problem is that Emily is a private detective and although she doesn't have a stellar background in policework, she does seem to resolve the issue she has been hired to do. However, her main focus in the story with the torso killer, she spends more time avoiding the FBI as the enemy vs the real killer. No matter how negative the relationship between other law enforcement, Emily seemed to be hiding from them instead of just focusing on how to stop the killer. The last chapters looking for Lexi and wrapping up the ending seemed to be hurried and left a lot of questions unanswered. I was disappointed with that part.

Great drama
Disgraced. Chicago detective, Emily Tizzano, is a one. person private investigator taking on cold cases here and these as they appealed to her. A crazed murderer had turned in to a serial killer. Not only was he taking his victims and killing them he was also cutting them up and leaving the torsos in the local bayou. Unfortunately the local police and FBI had no idea or clue what was happening. Can Emily find out who this mad man is and stop him before another death occurs?

Whoa! Three great reads!
I loved that each book could be a stand-alone but each referred briefly to previous cases for background detail. Each book/case was nonstop tension and action while Emily tried to stay under the radar while investigating all the while risking everything on so many fronts. You won't be sorry you invested your reading time and a bit of coin in KJ Kalis' stellar writing.

An enthralling read.
An exciting trilogy of books featuring Emily, an ex detective. She reaches out to try to get justice for victims, who need her skills. I liked the way that she had a computer expert, Mike, who provides her with information. Great characters who interacted with each other, and provided humour and drama. The cases were well constructed.

Exciting
I love reading a series of stories and having them in a boxed set. Every story had me sitting on the edge of my seat! Although Emily is a bit flawed she's an interesting character, as are the others with whom she interacts.
I will certainly be searching for other books written by KJ Kalis.

OFF OF - bad grammar
I enjoyed this book but I do hate the excessive amount of times you write " off of ", it's bad grammar for a writer, the word you need is from or just off. And there were quite a few typing errors too.

The three stories were interesting. The first and last were the best. The main character was way to paranoid though.
