The McIntyre Men #2

Oklahoma Moonshine

THE McINTYRE MEN
The Most Eligible Billionaire Bachelor Cowboys in Oklahoma!

Robert McIntyre has his eye on a sprawling ranch outside Big Falls that’s about to be auctioned. Determined to be his own man, he wants to buy it without help from his father or his inheritance, but he’s only saved up about half what he needs to make that happen. Partnering up with a gorgeous redhead wasn’t part of his plan. A dishonest woman burned him badly, and he’s still not over it. But Kiley seems straight up, and besides, he’ll buy her out of her half in short order. Until then, it’s not exactly gonna be a chore to be around her.

Kiley Capone was raised by a con-man, so she knows how to get what she wants, and what she wants, is that same ranch. But it’s going to go for about twice as much cash as she can put her hands on. The busy-body at the real estate office let on that one of the McIntryres wanted it, too and with a little encouragement, spilled all the juicy details. So Kiley shows up at the McIntrye family business, The Long Branch saloon, just after closing time to catch Robert alone. He’s the brooding middle brother, and most people are a little bit afraid of him. Kiley is not most people.

When they decide to buy the ranch together, he actually thinks it was his idea. But Kiley has no intention of sharing. She’ll buy him out soon enough. And until then, she figures she can sweet talk him enough to make sharing the place bearable.

But Robert isn’t as easy to wrap about her finger as she’d expected, and Kiley isn’t fooling him half as much as she thinks she is.

If you loved The Texas Brands, and The Oklahoma All-Girl Brands, you’re going to LOVE this brand new series set in the same world.

I live in the teeny, tiny town of Taylor, NY, (Alliteration Alert!) though my mailing address is Cincinnatus, my telephone exchange is Truxton and I pay taxes and vote in Cuyler. All of these are at least in the same rural county in the southern hills of New York State; Cortland County. There are more cattle than people here. The nearest “big” cities are Syracuse and Binghamton and they are an hour away, in different directions, and not really all that big by most standards, though they both seem humongous to me. I look out my window to see rolling, green, thickly forested hills, wildflower laden meadows and wide open blue, blue skies. My road is barely paved. The nearest neighboring place is a 700 acre dairy farm.

My house is a big, century old farmhouse. I moved in here after my divorce in 2006. Just a little over a year later, the house, which I had named, SERENITY, burned. It was 99% gutted, and I lost my two dogs, Sally, an 11-year-old great Dane, and Wrinkles, my 14-year-old, blind bulldog. This was the culmination of my Dark Night of the soul, which had seemed to hit me all at once in 2006-2007. My mother died that year, after a 14 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was only 60. The youngest of my five daughters had left home that same year, and while that’s not a tragedy at all, it felt like one to me. Then came the divorce. And finally there was the fire--it seemed my darkest night wasn’t quite finished with me after all. I had lost almost everything before that point, and as I poked through the wet ashes and soot the next day, I realized that I had now been stripped all the way to the bone.

No better time to start over. (And no, I didn’t come to that realization that day--there were a few days of wallowing in pity first, particularly the day after the fire, when I hit a deer and smashed up my car, which I was practically living in!)

That’s when I started to laugh. Just sat on the side of the road as the deer bounded, uninjured and carefree, out of sight, and laughed. It was just too ridiculous at that point, to do anything else!

And from there, I picked myself up, and brushed myself off, and said, okay, there’s only one way to go from here. Forward. And that’s what I did. There I was at the age of harrurmphemmph, living in my one, mostly undamaged remaining room, with a dorm-sized mini-fridge, a futon, a TV, my cat (nine lives!) and a laptop. And not much else. (Though thank goodness the room that survived the fire, was a room that had its own attached bathroom!)

Since then I have rebuilt my beloved home, which really has become my haven, my “Serenity.” I share it now with my fiancé, Lance, and we have accumulated quite the little family together. “Little” being a relative term. We have a pair of English Mastiffs, Dozer and Daisy, who weigh 203 pounds and 208 pounds respectively, and a little pudgy English Bulldog named Niblet, who is bigger than both of them, inside her mind. We also have the aforementioned cat, Glorificus (“Glory” for short,) who adores her canine pups and keeps them firmly in line. And we've acquired a pair of stray cats as well, a mother and son, Luna (Lulu for short) and Butters aka Buddy. Lulu showed up pregnant during a lunar eclipse, had a litter, and vanished again. We found homes for all the kittens except one. Butters. We got him fixed and kept him. A few months later, Lulu returned, again expecting. This litter was born on the "Monster Moon." Again, all the kittens were spayed and neutered and placed in homes, and this time we got Lulu to the vet in time to spay her before the cycle could repeat.

Glory is not amused.

She has a story of her own, my old Glory cat, having been with me before the Dark Times descended, she went through it all with me, moved with me, survived the fire, and remains with me still. She's tolerating the newcomers. Barely.

My partner is an artist, a mechanic, a welder and an inventor, and the rumors are true, he is much younger than I

Although an interesting concept, I didn't really enjoy it. How does a girl change her ways when she has been raised to lie, cheat, and steal? And when? And what spurs the change? Kiley is a lot younger than Rob, who comes across as gentle but savvy. He looks like a pushover for someone like Kiley, but he isn't. The subject was handled well, but I didn't feel any investment in it or in the characters. Something just seemed off.

Great start to a new series. The McIntyre Men are related to the Brands of Oklahoma and they fit right in. I loved seeing the characters from the Oklahoma Brands as a part of the Oklahoma Moonshine story line. The plot is interesting, the characters great and romance first rate. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Loved Kiley & Rob. Kiley has such a great idea for the ranch, and I loved how she & Rob worked together. The trials they face worked out because Kiley decided to trust and -be- trusted! I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, and I'm going to have to go back and read the Oklahoma Brands series! 😀.

Good Read!

I really enjoyed reading this book! However, I feel like it wasn't finished completely. I wanted to know what happened with Kiley's dad once he realized what happened! Other than that, I really enjoyed it! I think everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! I will definitely recommend it to others!

Good read!

This was kind of different! Not the usual, man meets girl, man looses girl, man gets girl back! This could actually be out of some peoples lives. Because this type of ruse really does happen! Kylie and Robert work together to right a few wrongs and fall fully and totally, oh wait, I can't blow the ending! Read it!. It's a great book!.

Going Straight

Life changing love. She found her new life and gave up being a con artist for love. If people could really give up being a criminal and not send the family to jail at the same time it would be grate.

Great story

It is so hard to start over and walk on the straight and narrow when you are broke and come from a family of drifters. She only needed to run one more con, well, maybe two. She just didn't plan on meeting Robby McIntyre.

Rob comes up against a con artist when he tries to buy a ranch at the auction. She claimed to have her grandmother’s ring and he made her drop it.

Maggie's on a roll! This take-off from the Brand series hits all the high points of any romance she's written. There are secrets, history, pain, joy, and love in abundance!

Kiley is desperate; her sister is dead, her father's in jail, her family home is up for auction, and she wants more than anything to go straight. Up 'til now life has been a journey of attempts and failures at being "normal". Raised in a con-artist family she has never truly fit in, but now she needs to complete one last con to get everything she's ever wanted.

Robert is distrustful of women because of his father's money, and can smell a lie a mile away. That doesn't stop him from wanting to help Kiley - even when she won't tell him the truth. There's just something about her that tugs at his heart strings.

Robert's family accepts Kiley as she is because he's asked them to... and because that's who they are. From nothing to everything - can Kiley accept the future and be brave enough to grab for it?

I love Maggie's down-to-earth storytelling. This was a fairly quick read for me which helps as I sometimes get caught up in one book for weeks and need a smaller read to lighten the load - so to speak. You won't regret picking up the newest installment in this family's saga!

Great new series..Spin off to the Oklahoma Brands.
Kiley Kellogg and her twin sister Kendra were raised by a con man of a father..He is now sitting in jail, and Kiley is told her sister Kendra died in a house fire.
Kiley returns to her home town of Big Falls to try to buy back her old home..But, she doesn't have enough money..She decides to try and pull a con on the most honest man in town. Rob McIntyre, who also is interested in the property when it goes up for auction. She cons him into pooling their money and go halves on the property..
Kiley is trying to go straight.. no more cons.. pay back those she has conned in the past..Trying to be a better person..
Until her "dead" sister shows up and things start to go wrong.

Grab Maggie's newest book Oklahoma Moonshine and return to the magical community of Big Falls! From start to finish, I was captivated by the relationship between the beautiful con Kylie Kellogg & the honest Robby McIntyre. It began with a half-thought out con, but is Kylie still conning the Brand/McIntyre family? Can Robby learn to live with Kylie's mistakes? Will they find their happily ever after? Grab the book and find out! I promise you will love every single page of this book!

Can't stop reading Maggie's books! Love Big Falls! Love her stories, the Brand's and now the McIntyre! After Vidalia's and the Prequel now, we really get what was going on with Rob! And Selene was soooo right as always hahaha Kiley was there for good, to change and make a change in Rob's life to!

Didn't know what turn the story is gonna come with, and it was great to read! A con being conned! You go Kiley! i'm looking forward for the next brother, bring it on!

Oh wow!

I was so excited to see the Brand-McIntire series continue with the McIntire sons as the focus. This book was EXCELLENT!!! I loved every word. Maggie Shayne is definitely a favorite author. However my only disappointment was getting to the end and finding out I had to wait until December 2016 for Book 2! Lol.

Maggie Shayne has another winner. The McIntre men are a spin off and relations to the Brands. Can a seeker of truth and a con find happiness together? This book is definitely worth the read to find out. I loved it. I can't wait until the next book in this planned 3 book series.

There isn't much that Maggie Shayne writes that I don't love. This new series of McIntyre Men is not only entertaining, but brings new characters and old characters together (The Oklahoma Brands) I really enjoyed this book and I'm sure you will also.

Rob and Kylie were great. I'm not sure the story really would have ended the way it did but clean and happy endings make me happy so I'm choosing to ignore the unbelievable part. Recommended.
