That is a part of history that repeats itself till today with Taliban is back in Afghanistan. The in-depth analysis of Taliban 1.0 regime, and other deadliest terrorist groups acting along with it. Emergence of Taliban 2.0, its security and economic implications for India. Afghanistan's pro-Pakistan government, and how India's key rivals Pakistan and China use the opportunity to exploit the Taliban regime and galvanise regional militants, including anti-India terror groups. History Repeats Itself and it is all the more true in case of Afghanistan. With the Britishers leaving them in disarray the remergence of Taliban rule there has left them with nothing. I knew a bit about this political turmoil but wasn't aware much about the history of the place , how it actually reached the doldrums of today and how their pitiful state can have bearance on Bharat and other nations

I have recently read another work of the same author on NEP so I knew this book will have the most intricate details and it won't be deviated from its main subject. The book quite analytically explains how the current rule in Afghanistan is Pro-Pakistan and how anti Indian forces have combined there . How in the past Russian and British forces have tried to eradicate terrorism from there but instead it only worsened the situation there

The content of the book as expected are very informative and detailed. The kind of research author has put in is exemplary. The best part about the book is its factual description and not opiniated. It also shows why the Taliban government wants cordial relations with Bharat so that it can gain economically and politically in the times of emergency and they have been successful so far in their pursuit as we have sent them huge amount of help during and even after Covid.

These are alarming times for our country in terms of how it is surrounded by enemy nations all around and this book does well in substantiating the very fact .

As a government job aspirant, I've to read Indian history, geography, political science and international relationships and during my studies sply in history I know Mughals came, arrival of nadir shah but never thought about a question ... From where?

Taliban 2.0 gives a clear picture of past, present, geography, politics, economy and development rate of Afghanistan and impact of taliban on Afghan as well as on India.
As i always mentioned that books by the author are always satisfactory, well descriptive and amazingly presenting the true picture of situation.
Taliban 2.0 followed the same pattern, covering all the aspects of international impact of taliban.
Explaining from the ancient history of Mahabharata to the final takeover of Taliban on Kabul the book covers the history of Indian and afgan dynasties and explains the ruling strategies of every great ruler.

I was shocked after knowing the present status of economy, religious, healthcare and educational aspect of country as the land of Taxila University is terrible in field of education.

Few things I knew and alot more I got to know through this book... So highly recommending it everyone still living with term "maybe"

𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙣 2.0 𝙗𝙮 𝘿𝙧 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙥𝙝 𝙆 𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙨

💣The greater the change and more difficult our challenges, the more relevant the habits become. The solutions to the problems are and always will be based upon universal, timeless, self evident principles common to every enduring, prospering society throughout history.

💣India has always been critical of the Taliban, whom it considers close to its regional rival, Pakistan. But the Islamist group has hinted that it would like to have good ties with all regional countries this time around. Taliban's backing of the hijackers of an Indian Airlines flight in 1999 still lingered in the memory of most Indians.

💣The road ahead remains slippery and challenging. Dangers lurk and uncertainties abound. History suggests that whosoever rules Kabul feels the need to develop good relations with India for political and economic reasons.

💣After 20 years of war, the Taliban has swept to victory in Afghanistan. Taliban forces have pledged not to allow Afghanistan to become a base for terrorists who could threaten the West. But questions are already being asked about how the group will take the country, and what their rule means for women, human rights, and political freedoms. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions.

💣The book indeed is well researched & presented the events in a chronological manner that really makes it authentic and comprehensible. I've also read the previous work of the author and found them pretty interesting.

💣The writing style is precise and intelligible. the information presented herein is based on research, fact findings and authors experience in multiple domains like military, finance, technology and entrepreneurship.

"By 1996 most of Afghanistan was captured by the Islamic fundamentalist group, the Taliban, who ruled most of the country as a totalitarian regime for five years."

✓We have been familiar with the situations pertaining in Afghanistan, particularly talking about the Taliban. However, I would not be wrong to say that what exactly is going in Afghanistan is known only to the people living there.
✓Afghanistan, also known as the "graveyard of empires" has a very rich history. It has seen several rulers including Alexander The Great, The Mighty Mauryans and The Magadhas. The best part about this book is that it gives an account of both, Afghanistan's past as well as its present. The book also helps us understand what the rule of Taliban in Afghanistan means for other nations like India, China and Pakistan.
✓This book contains a detailed account of everything which you need to know about Afghanistan. All the information provided, has been segregated into eleven chapters including the Introduction. This book is an eye-opener as it helps understanding everything clearly and is very informative.
✓The language used is lucid. Hence, I would like to recommend it to the beginners as well.

Taliban 2.0 by Joseph K Thomas is based on Talibans of Afghanistan. The book begins by drawing a connection of the country to our Ramayana and the Mahabharatha and explains how it was how it was named and later cursed. The geographical features, the people and their culture, the mineral resources that the country is rich in etc has been discussed.

The author further explains how the rich country like Afghanistan has been occupied by the talibans who run their terroristic activities there. Also how the super powerful nations such as Russia and America unsuccessfully tried to destroy the terrorists and their groups completely.

I've read the previous books by the author and like his analytical way of writing the facts. The language used is simple and easy to understand. There is no deviation from the topic at any point.
Overall an informative read.

The book 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗻 2.0 by author 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 is a detailed and well thought and provocative work. The book focuses majorly on history of Afghanistan, how Taliban came into being and the fight for the power in a strategic location like the Afghan State. I really liked that the book was factful and well researched. The in-depth analysis of American power play and the thoughtful depiction of India and how it is working in respect to the Taliban was just amazing.
I really liked the book and probably it's one my favourite reads of the year.
Again coming back to the history part...I am a die hard history lover and the language and way of expressing the events was commendable. I learnt so much about our dear neighbour country Afghanistan and the U.S. interference was weaved so well that it only made the book more natural to like. This book was impactful, undiplomatic and sharp. I am glad I picked up this book and would highly recommend it to any person who is new into the non fiction genre and is a history lover.

Afghanistan has a rich heritage and it's glamorous history is linked to India to a large extent. It has played a pivotal role in shaping the geopolitical regime of South and Central Asia.

Kingdom of Afghanistan was established in June 1926 under King Amanullah whose legacy ruled for 50 yrs and were eventually overthrown, thus establishing a Republic in 1973. The roots of Taliban is dated back to 1930 during the rule of Mohammad Zahir Shah. He was the third ruler and the last king of Afghanistan. Taliban received partial support internally and externally. Some neighbouring Islamic countries supported their religious fundamentalism.

In 1996 most of Afghanistan was captured by Taliban but got a fierce resistance from the Ahmad Shah Masood aka Lion of Panjshir until he was assassinated just two days prior the 9/11 attack in USA. Around 3000 people died. This act changed the fate of the Taliban. In 2001 the American troupes started systematic insurgency, eliminating the various terrorist organisations pushing them to a remote corner for refuge. Thus was the end of Taliban 1.0

In 2021, Afghanistan was recaptured by Taliban, which marked the end of the 2001–2021 war, the longest war in US history. This was an important turn of event for not only Afghanistan, but is expected to affect the diplomatic relationship of the neighbouring countries including India. This new regime of Taliban 2.0 will have serious implications world-wide but is perceived to not be the
same as their previous rule, thanks to the constant surveillance through social media and human rights vigilance by the UN.

All the above information and much more is noted in the book. The history right from the times when Afghanistan was ruled by Alexander, Ashoka, Mughals, Adil Shah and so on is called 'Graveyard of Empires'. The Afghanistan also has a mention in the Mahabharata and Buddhism.

The country so vast and versatile, rich in minerals and opium, whose future now seems questionable has been debated with facts. The difference between the 1.0 and 2.0 version is also stated. A thorough research and commendable narration makes this book an interesting read.

Book Review:

It’s a very well-researched book @drjosephthomas_author. The issues in Afghanistan pertaining to terrorism, military, economy, geopolitical turmoil, and the fate of the billion-dollar Indian investments has been presented in a very detailed manner.
The reality of the present scenario is worrisome on how the Taliban-operated government is ruling the roast in Afghanistan. Dr Joseph has a peculiar style of writing. This is the third book that I am reading and I admire his style of writing and how he compares the history of Afghanistan starting from 500 BC in connection with our ancient India, the amazing references from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana which talks about the historical perspective which can be compared to present day Taliban regime. It is unexplainable how the author has brilliantly done the comparison with his detailed research and study of the current trends of events. Everything in Afghanistan is now fallen to ruin - the monuments, the culture, being an ordinary person I feel so proud to be a part of a country like India. Dr Joseph has mentioned that “ Afghanistan continues to be a tempting spot in the greater game of geo-strategic power play”. This is such a true statement. A country with a series of assassinations which did not let the good happen. This book is such an eye-opener. “ How is the Taliban group going to govern the country “? What is the answer to the thousands of hope from that country?
The author has talked about the exploitation of women in Afghanistan as per a well-researched report. It’s really scary to see the example of Sohaila who had to receive 100 lashes just for walking with someone who was not a relative. I have loads of talk to the amazing readers of this book but do not want to give any spoilers. I leave it to the readers to explore more from this book with complete facts and realities happening in Afghanistan.

The Mughals, the British, the Soviets (Russia), and now the Americans, have all tried but failed to control Afghanistan. That is a part of history that repeats itself till today with Taliban is back in Afghanistan.

First of all I want to pay tribute to the author as this is the third book written by the author that I have read. And I dare not say anything about the author's writing style or the accuracy of the data. I am totally shocked. And I was not disappointed at all with this book.

Coming to the context of this book, here you will get a perfect description of the Taliban 1.0 regime, which sometimes confuses our news channels or newspapers. After reading this book, there should not be any confusion. And besides, there are descriptions and activities of various terrorist organizations, which will cause tremors in the body every moment.

▶️ Emergence of Taliban 2.0, its security and economic implications for India. Afghanistan's pro-Pakistan government, and how India's key rivals Pakistan and China use the opportunity to exploit the Taliban regime and galvanise regional militants, including anti-India terror groups.

▶️ And also the different understandings, the different terrible steps, the different treaties, the different plans, the diplomacy, the horrors are all detailed with dates. What I like most is the author's penchant for writing. I like the description of everything in the essay, not in the form of prose, but according to the brutality of the incident, the use of the language of the film, and then the appropriate headline in the order of the incident i very much like really.

▶️ If you want to get detailed knowledge about any puzzling current affairs then this book is perfect and you will be suddenly stunned if you see the information in any other book by this author. I'm stumped too, I really enjoyed reading this book.

I am back with one more review :
TALIBAN 2.0 Fall of Afghanistan and what it means for India by
Dr Joseph K Thomas

As all know, the Islamic fundamentalist Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in August,
waging an insurgency against the US-backed administration in Kabul and overthrowing it after 20 years, the political uncertainty in the war-ravaged country, which has clouded the already bleak pathway to economic recovery,
also meant a body blow to traders and small businesses in India who have been trading with Afghanistan for years.

The Taliban are a predominantly Pashtun, Islamic fundamentalist group that returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021 after waging a twenty-year insurgency. Their rout
is likely to cause a significant shift in the geopolitics of South Asia, and it could be particularly testing for India, given the country's historically tense relations and border disputes with Pakistan and China - both are expected to play a crucial role in Afghanistan's future.

since the Taliban’s theocratic terrorists returned to power in Kabul, the people of Afghanistan, particularly its women and girls, have been subjected to unimaginable suffering as the world’s attention turns to other issues.
But many other countries, and especially India, have reason to worry.

About this book: Well researched book. Readers who are interested in reading about history and politics, this book is for you guys. Explained how the fall of Afghanistan can affect india, economically and geographically and politically too.

One thing I liked in this book, it is not boring. Generally books on history and politics sometimes feels very boring as we all get content from digital media now. But this Book is written in such a way , very interstingly . Easy language. Worth time if you are interested to know about Afghanistan politics.
Happy reading 📖

Well written from start to end. This book is amazing and hard to believe the writing is excellent and information will keep you absolutely hooked!!! Eloborate writing and smooth transition between scenes. This book got me hooked right from start and you just can't stop reading it unless you have finished it.

It’s a very well researched book book by Dr Joseph. The Rise, Fall and the Rise of Taliban in Afghanistan. History tells us that, extraordinary empires and forces have attempted to gain control over Afghanistan however failed. The Mughals, the British, the Russia , and now the Americans, have all tried but did not control Afghanistan. That is a part of history that repeats itself till nowadays with Taliban is returned in Afghanistan.

The book concentrates on demographical, economic, social conditions of Afghanistan. The Author successfully inscribed the detailed analysis of Tabilan in Afghanistan, the factors that lead them to re-enter in Afghanistan and its impact on the countries and on their foreign and economic policies with Afghanistan.

The issues in Afghanistan pertaining to terrorism , military, economy, geopolitical turmoil, the fate of the billion dollar Indian investments has been presented in a very detailed manner. The reality on the present scenario is really worrisome on how the Taliban operated government is ruling the roast in Afghanistan.

This book is a remarkable research by using the author as he has executed a exceptional task. The writing style which author used was rich and reader-friendly. The narrations were great. The explanations were perfectly penned down. The language of this book is simple but the research made by the Author in order to write this book is highly appreciated.

My Ratings- 4/5 stars

The title of the book gives us rough idea about the content of the book. The tagline of the book says, “Fall of Afghanistan and what it means for India.” That caught my attention that made me pick it up. I will briefly summarise my views here. Author started the book with the overview of Afghanistan. Author covered mainly geographical areas, neighbouring countries and borders, etc. The Hindu Kush mountain range discussion was fascinating. It divides the country into northern and southern region. Author also covered demographic details, culture and language. Then author covered about economy, education system and health care system. Then author shifted to discussion of Modern Afghanistan. The discussion includes some important individual’s discussion, civil war and Taliban. That discussion is quite vast and informative. Author started it from 1996 when Taliban took power and then it’s till date. Author included chapters like Taliban 1.0, the fall of it, atrocities, human trafficking, genocide, the fall of Taliban 1.0, etc. Then author covered emergence of Taliban 2.0 and its security and economic implications for India. I liked the book. It’s quite informative. Author researched the topic and narrated too perfectly in chronological order. That shows hard work and patience. The language of the book is lucid so that everyone can pick it up. The narration style of the author is captivating. I liked how neatly author divided chapters and sections. The content is informative, easy to read and interpret and fast paced that keeps the reader hooked. Indeed good one.

💫This is a book based on Talibans in Afghanistan.Taliban is a brutal, fundamentalist religious group that hold power over most of Afghanistan during the late 1990s and come back again at 2021.
The book started with some theological treatise like Ramayana and Mahabharata. The geographical features, culture, mineral distribution is also highlighted.

Powerful countries like USA and Russia is unable to backfire Taliban.

"The taliban has swept to victory in Afghanistan after 20 years of War taleban forces have pledged not to allow them to become a base for terrorists who could threaten the west".

From Introduction of the book.

The book is detailed description of the political, social nd cultural history of Afghanistan, about the rulers and the invaders, political tensions, influence of religious undercurrents in Afghan and entry and reentry of taliban.
Taliban attacking members of minority religious communities over their beliefs reminds us of present Indian scenario.

There is information about education health systems and natural resources of Afghanistan,Epics history of Afghanistan and its references in Vedas Ramayana and Mahabharata as gandhara(kandahar). History and rulers of Afghan and short notes about rulers and their reigns.
The descriptions about religious and political groups, their relations with taliban, India's investments, traded and projects in Afghanistan are also given.

The existence of women and the concept of freedom in the taliban regime is sure to disturb any reader. At the same time,Taliban gained support from public to 'clean up the crime ridden Afghan city' was a new information for me.

The book also analyses economical and foreign policies of taliban and its effect on neighbouring countries.
The author must be appreciated for presenting such a detailed research and analysis in easy to understand language.

Title: Taliban 2.0(Fall of Afghanistan and what it means for India)

Author: Dr. Joseph K Thomas

Length: 251 pages

Publisher: The Write order

Genre: Non-Fiction

It's a great analysis of Afghanistan's history and current. The author has given careful consideration to this topic, reflecting on his own experiences as well as those of similar groups, considering how they function and have evolved through time and how their success has impacted the surrounding area. The book is divided into 10 chapters covering all the aspects.

The story is well-written and concise, and the language is easy to understand. Furthermore, he discusses the past administration of Afghanistan, detailing the ripple effects that this had on the global community and on India in particular.
And he's done it all in a polished package, covering topics like terrorism, the economics, military strategy, and geopolitical unrest.  Not only that, but he has shed light on the massive Indian investments in Afghanistan. Time, indeed, is the only certain way to put any doubt to rest.

Nonfiction readers will enjoy it just as much as those who prefer fiction. Students and scholars in the fields of history and politics will find this book useful in the long run. A must-read for everyone interested in the geopolitical dynamics of the area around us. Our national strategists and planners might make great use of the data in this book.

“The U.S. can leave Afghanistan, but in the end, India has to pick up the pieces.”
- Dr. Joseph K Thomas, Taliban 2.0.

Taliban 2.0 is a book which can be called as a collection of facts and futures.

We all know how Afghanistan have been suffering from the Talibani oppression. The images of people fleeing the country, war is still in front of our eyes. But what actually is left now? How does the other countries adapting and reacting to this? This book might give a picture to such questions.

Afghanistan is a landlocked multi-ethnic country located in the heart of south-central Asia. It consists of some very important trade routes connecting Asia and Europe and Middle East. It is a tempting spot in the greater game of geo-strategic power play.

We all know that Taliban’s invaded Afghanistan in ’01 and ruled there for years. Then again, they lost and took a leave. But they are back. The present Afghanistan is their home and they are ruling. We get a clear idea of their ruling, organizations and their deeds.

This book focusses on the times of Taliban 2.0 and how India is going to be affected. The situation has given unauthorized power to Pak and China and their anti India groups can be a problem for our country.

The book is like a research work. It contains all the facts that one needs to know about the topic. The language is pretty lucid. I’ll recommend the book to the ones who are interested to know about Afghanistan and its situation.

Taliban 2.0 by Joseph K Thomas is based on Talibans of Afghanistan. Taliban 2.0 entails about the background of Afghanistan, where Taliban had ruled for several years. This book has outlined various diversities, political issues, impacts economical, demographics and many more. It takes you the journey of Talibans how they have arrived in Afghanistan & what was their agenda.

Talibans retook the control and power of Afghanistan in 2021, two decades after being removed by US govt. Despites having turmoil situation, Afghan government are not in a position to implement the strategic actions to prevent illegal activities. In the meantime, the most affected sector of education cannot be restored as it is widely affected by violence.

Taliban became recognised around the world for carrying out heinous activities, violence & public executions. Following the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, it became a painful and stressful moment for the people that women rights were seized, ban on entertainment and games, cultural genocide and unacceptable and ruthless behaviour.

Amidst, in turmoil situation it ensures that peace and security is the important concern throughout the country.
This book has really touched the heart and it showed the exact visualisation of the situation of Afghanistan. I really wanna suggest as well as recommend this book to read it and to understand how violence is affecting true lives of people.

This is a book that talks about the rise, fall, and rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan. All the events that took place during the rise, fall, and another rise are elucidated in a way that gives you a clear picture of the turn of events.
Instead of taking you directly to the subject, you get to read about the land and the other issues like demography, mineral resources, education, etc. The author also throws light on why Afghanistan is a cursed country with references to Mahabaratha!
The delivery style of the narration is really impressive. Each topic is dealt with under subheadings that make it easier to read and relate to. I found that this made the book a bit more interesting to read on without getting bored.
I learned a lot about the land, the Taliban, how other countries were using it for their benefit, India’s role, etc. The facts have been written as they were without beating around the bush. The language is simple. The cover syncs with the title.
In all a very well-researched and impactful book where the author brings out all the facts and scenarios. He has also provided an in-depth analysis of Taliban1.0 and 2.0 reign.
It is a good book for someone interested in geopolitics,non-fiction readers and ,strategists.

The term "Taliban" in the past couple of years has been on the tip of everyone across the nation who subscribes to political beliefs, irrespective of ideologies. As I'm known for my political and geo-political interests, I think it's a bit of an interesting account to delve into. In order to add a short insights on the context, Taliban is an extremist organisation that has been popular in South Asia for decades for its intent to promote extremism and terrorism.
Between May to August of 2021, Taliban recaptured the Afghanistan territory and by the downfall of the democratic government and establishment of a militant group into regime governing nation, there had been enormous tensions on geopolitical grounds and the nation itself. To those who don't know, Afghanistan is an important and strategic location for India, due to its geographic advantages.
The author made me love his writings as the way he scrutinises the subject is completely absorbing. The analytics and insights were quite obvious as I had been reading him for a bit long and had a presumed perception of depth of things.
The book is truly an eye opener and better part of critical observation to the alarming situations within the territories. I literally finished the book in 5 hours go.

Taliban 2.0 by Joseph K Thomas depends on Taliban’s of Afghanistan. The book starts by drawing an association of the country to our Ramayana and the Mahabharata and makes sense of how it was the way things were named and later reviled. The geological elements, individuals and their way of life, the mineral assets that the nation is rich in and so forth has been talked about.
The Author further makes sense of how the rich nation like Afghanistan has been involved by the Taliban’s who run their terroristic exercises there. Likewise, how the strong countries, for example, Russia and America ineffectively attempted to annihilate the psychological oppressors and their gatherings.

The Rise, Fall and the Rise of Taliban in Afghanistan. History lets us know that remarkable domains and powers have endeavoured to oversee Afghanistan anyway fizzled. The Mughals, the British, Russia, and presently the Americans, have all attempted yet didn't control Afghanistan. That is a piece of history that rehashes the same thing till these days with Taliban is returned in Afghanistan.

I appreciated perusing the portrayals and the clarifications. The cover is engaging. Most certainly recommend this book.

I can give 4/5

Starting with the introduction with the fundamental information about Afghanistan like its geography, location, and climatic features then hoping onto history, polity, people, and future, all of it, the author has flawlessly narrated the whole tale with facts and lots of valuable information within every page of this book.
We all know about the removal of the Taliban's rule since 2001 by the Britishers and arrival again in 2021. This arrival explains the part of the name - '2.0'.
The book mainly features the history, present, and future of the Taliban's rule in Afghanistan and other facts such as the impact of this phenomenon on India and other geopolitical parts included. While in the way, we get to know about the bits of culture, types of people, residing trends, political impacts, and much much more!
Although it was a great ride for me to read the book at a gradual pace, and consume the info bit by bit, I don't recommend it to non-readers or beginners, or those who don't like factual information because then it's gonna be weary for you.
However, if you have a hunger for knowledge, for gaining more and more of it, you should definitely go for this wonderful piece of proficiency.

Taliban 2.O Fall of Afghanistan and what it means for India - Dr. Joseph K Thomas

Dr. Joseph Thomas in his undiplomatic and simple, yet impactful delivery style writing offers the chronology of the events unfolded in the rise of Taliban 1.0, Fall of Taliban 1.0 and the rise of Taliban 2.0 in Afghanistan. Emergence of Taliban 2.0, its security and economic implications for India is thoroughly explained. Taliban 2.0 gives a clear picture of past, present, geography, politics, economy and development rate of Afghanistan and impact of Taliban on Afghan as well as on India. A thorough research and commendable narration makes this book an interesting read.

There is nothing much to dislike about the book, but if you are someone who doesn’t like to read much about history or geo-political analysis, this book may not be for you. Plus, this book is a slow read for a fictional-lover over non-fictionals like me. Otherwise, the writing style, the cover page, the flow and the research was on point.
Once in a while, there comes a book that comes along and leaves an imprint on the readers; and Taliban 2.0 is one of those.

Comment down if you read non fiction or not 💕

Taliban 2.0 by Dr. JOSEPH K THOMAS

Non fictions aren't really my thing but the cover and the recent topic made me pick this one up. The research done by the author is commendable. I'd recommend it to most of y'all but those who don't find topics like politics, history, or reality-based stories interesting, won't like this one at all, and I would like to tell them to skip this book.

As the author briefly talked about the Taliban and the effect India has to face from its actions, which is not even closer to those fancy romance novels we often read. You will have to face the reality of the world, especially India's economic, geographical and political conditions. The often terrorism action that occurs in the Taliban is not for sensitive people. However, this book is a really interesting one, but it will appeal to a very limited section of the audience. Even I find the topic very interesting. Entirely, I'd recommend this book. Worth reading.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU ALWAYS SKIP THE HARSH SIDE / BOOKS RELATED TO POLITICS

RECOMMENDED FOR 16+ ( Violence, negative politics etc.)

First of all Kudos to the Author Joseph Thomas who has meticulously researched and described every single detail of Afghanistan from its origin to the present situation. He has worked in the Indian army as a corporate leader and a social entrepreneur. The experience he has learnt from the war room to the board room is reflected in his books.

It's been a year since when Taliban returned to Afghanistan, but whenever It came to mind, gives me goosebumps. Afghanistan has witnessed numerous military campaigns, Alexander Rules, Mayuryans, Magadhas, Muslims and Mongols but no one can take over Afghanistan. Historians have named it as Graveyard of Empires. And in Aug 2021, another validation of the epithet.

Taliban is such a sensitive topic yet Joseph has covered it deliberately. It's very informative covering all aspects of Afghanistan, their language, their people, the empires, the history to modern Afghanistan. I would recommend this book to read by everyone from beginners to avid readers. This information should be known to everyone.

This book is one of the best resource to learn about Taliban and Afghanistan. The author has discussed in deep about the location and dynamics of Afghanistan. To understand the fall of Afghanistan and return of Taliban one needs to get into the past of Afghanistan.

I was impressed with the knowledge of the author in this matter. He has brought up all the points with very detailed explanations. The author discusses a lot about Taliban- what led to its creation, the USSR invasion of Afghanistan and then the rise of Taliban.

The author has also discussed the role of various stakeholders like the US, Russia, Pakistan and mostly important India.
Through this book one gets to know and understand how the developments in Afghanistan affects India. There are certain security challenges to India, particularly in the Kashmir Valley which the authorities are sceptical about.

The book is certainly an encyclopedia about Afghanistan. I really liked reading this book. I had an opportunity to understand Afghanistan and the Geopolitics of Asia even better.
Happy Reading.

No I dont usually pick the books having serious vibe.I don't like books with serious vibe. But then there are few books like these which I pick no matter what because of the curiousity to understand something.

Taliban,Afghanistan,Pakistan were the nations which were in the news for so many days. And when its said again and again it develops curiousity. I developed that and thats why I decided to pick this book up.

This book is an amazing work by the author. Its very well researched and beautiful facts has been mentioned in this book which made me very much aware.I am not good in general knowledge and stuff but this boon made me aware of the things which are happening and their probabilities in a wonderful manner.

The language used by the author is very good. Its simple and not complicated so even the people who had just started reading can read this book easily.

A must read book for the insight and awareness.A very well researched and narrated book.

Taliban 2.0
By: Dr. Joseph K. Thomas
Rating: 3/5
Genre: Non-fiction

This book is all about historical and political facts. Basically, the book starts with the history of the Afghanistan and relates it with India. Later in the story, the rise of the Taliban, what is its purpose, why it started etc. has been described. Taliban comes from the word Talib, which means students.

Now as we all know, the rise of the Taliban has been seen once again throughout Afghanistan. And if you are someone who follows up with news, you'll know that it is a concerning issue for India too. How? Read this book!

It's a non fiction book. So if you are someone who doesn't enjoy a book only filled with facts, I would not recommend it to you. It is a very audience targeted book (i.e. for an audience with a keen interest in such social, political, historical and economic topics. Yes, it's basically social studies of the Taliban)
