Again nothing special. I dig the shorter books in a long series though, makes me feel like I’m watching a tv series except listening to it. Predictable plot, but still really wanting to find out the big overall plot line!!!
Nowhere Girl by Kate Bold (5/23) [A Harley Cole FBI Suspense Thriller - 4] (A- N/A) [9-22-23]
Audible: Reagan Tankersley, Okay Narrator is Male
Harley Cole (35) Divorced Heroine FBI - FBI Agent Heroine New Mexico High School Bullying Revenge Death by Scorpion Death by Snake Serial Killer Thriller
The best book in the series so far, for me.
Three females are murdered by unusual means. After much investigation the common link is they attended the same high school.
A teenager is bitten by a Black Mambo Snake while waiting for her boyfriend to return to the tent.
A wife is killed by a Deadly Scorpion.
A dance instructor is bitten by a Deadly Snake from Australia while she’s in the tub.
The bullies locked a boy student in his locker overnight with a big snake. Years later that student committed suicide to get relief from the memories of that night.
His brother starts killing someone connected in some way with the bullies. An exciting ending.

Audiobook- I rated this book as a 3.5-4.0. The portion of the story about spiders and snakes is very creepy. Finally, there is some information about Harley’s sister case. This author seems to have an outline she follows in the same pattern with each book in this series. I’m taking a break from the series. There are too many gaps and lack of carry over from book to book. I didn’t like the question of a romance between partners. I’ve listened to the first five books in the series and we are still in the beginning of the story about Harley’s sister. Also, the author has dropped the story about Harley’s dad.

If you’re all about high-stakes suspense, meet your new go-to binge: Nowhere Girl throws FBI badass Harley Cole into a scorching desert mystery with venom—literally. A body surfaces, apparently bitten to death by desert wildlife. But Harley, sharp as ever, suspects something far more sinister.
The pacing is relentless, the tension like desert air—dry, heavy, and impossible to escape. Harley’s brilliant, broken edges give the series its emotional bite, and the killer? Diabolical enough to keep you guessing and turning pages well past bedtime. It’s classic procedural with a deadly twist and style to burn.

Nowhere Girl is the best book so far in this series. Harley is searching for a serial killer in the desert which makes this hunt much more difficult and dangerous. She is focused on the case but at the same time worrying about personal matters. The story and the plot are good, and well put together. I thank the author for the ARC.
Nowhere Girl was the best of the series so far. The element of desert insects and reptiles was a unique twist on a murder mystery. I’m curious though, which homeschooler hurt you Kate Bold? In books 4 and 5, there is unnecessary detail spent on including the fact certain characters were homeschooled. All of the details chosen to describe these characters implied they are unsocialized, awkward, naive and unable to deal in normal situations *because they were homeschooled* Or homeschoolers are basically a breeding farm where the older kids have no autonomy or personal freedom, are expected to take care of the younger kids because there are too many and the chaos is palpable (you made that detail very clear 🤦🏼♀️) I mean, there’s probably some educating happening in there somewhere, at least the little ones weren’t made out to be feral 🙄 I appreciate many do not understand or agree with the decision to homeschool made by other families but cmon now 🤦🏼♀️
