Thorn Tempest is the silent brother of the family. Everyone who meets him seems to fall at least a little bit in love. But the seemingly brooding exterior hides a wealth of insecurities that he can’t find the words to explain. Plagued by memories of his mother and his youngest siblings’ tragic deaths, he’s got a plan for his life that doesn’t include kids of his own. He’s more than willing to give all of his attention to the children in his family, but he’s not ready to take the leap into parenthood.
Phoebe Amble is alone in the world. She’s got friends who are like family, but she doesn’t have a family of her own. She’s not good at confrontation or pushing for what she wants, and that’s created issues in the past. Finally, she makes a choice that changes everything for the better, taking her away from a subpar life that she seemed destined for and into a world surrounded by a man’s love and his entire family.
Phoebe’s past catches up to her, and she’s not sure that’s something Thorn can accept. He’s not willing to lose her. Can these two people who are stronger than they realize find love together?
Join the Tempest family along with some of your favorite Rojo citizens in the fifth installment of the Tempests series
4.7 stars. Ugh. This was so heartbreaking right off the bat. And then Thorn and Phoebe were so sweet together. And then it was fucking heartbreaking again. I swear I was getting whiplash with how things kept going back and forth. But that ending. 🥹So fucking sweet.
Once again, Cee’s characters have captured my heart. That’s one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back to her books, the characters she writes are always so fucking lovable. I just want to know everything about everyone. Plus the humor that usually infuses her books makes everything that much more entertaining.
This book wasn’t all that funny, though it had its moments here and there.
The plot was heart wrenching and frustrating and kept me completely hooked, and also trying my damndest not to yell at my fucking kindle when Phoebe was being dumb.
The sex was hot and had an edge of ‘breeding’ kink to spice things up. Plus it had some entertaining moments when Thorne’s aphasia kicked in and had him spouting some hilarious nonsense.
We also got to see the Forresters and Kings from past books and it’s always a blast when they’re around.
I have the same problem with this book that I have with many of this author’s other books…I wanted more.🥺
I can’t wait to see who’s next in the series, and I can’t wait to catch up with the families in the other two series she’s working on. I need more found family goodness.
Through out this series there is something about Thorn that you can't help but to love. He's the quiet guy in the room making sure everyone is ok, while the rest of the family is loud and in your face, you could forget he's there. But that doesn't diminish him in any way, it's part of who he was and who life turned him into.
I loved that he was smitten with Phoebe from the start, a woman who never stopped talking, so unusual from himself. The two of them were great together, it just sucked that they weren't in the same place for their relationship to build more. It's not that they weren't building something, but the distance made it easier to be pulled apart when they encountered odd things. Like Thorn never having the right time to tell Phoebe about his leg and Phoebe being a bit clueless about herself. It didn't help that when Phoebe did ask a big question, she got the worst answer possible, making it easy to see why she did what she did. With that being said, I loved that she got to experience the Tempests en masse not giving one fuck about her situation, instead their thinking was like Thorn's no big deal. It took a bit for Phoebe to see that, had to see it in action with the 2 sets of twins and their reactions to meeting her.
I loved how this one ended, loved seeing the whole group there happy living their lives, Nonna surrounded by all the grandkids, so much happy.
I was so glad that Thorn finally had his story. He is a sweetheart and nutriture. Thorn and, his brothers and sisters went through hell together, because their father was a horrible person. Thorn was shot by his father lost his leg had a stroke and his speech was affected by the stroke on top of already stuttering. He worked very hard to overcome those obstacles. Phoebe lost her parents at a young age, she hasn't any family. Thorn and Phoebe meet at a wedding. They start dating she is very talkative, and Thorn is more the silent type. Together they make a great couple. It starts to unravel when Thorn blurts out, he doesn't want children. That's hard for Phoebe she wants children of her own even though she is part of The Forrester's family, because Martha and Smokey had Phoebe live with them when her parents died. There is more that happens to make things difficult. Phoebe shuts down and doesn't let anyone in. I was on the edge of my, seat waiting to see what happens. There were times I cried for both of them. The twists and turns were worth it to see the final outcome of their, story. Nonny becomes a new member of the family. It's bittersweet how she comes into their lives. The Tempests love family by blood or other circumstances. I really enjoyed their, story. There is also a lot of laughter. I can't wait for book 6 in The Tempests series. I am a big fan of Cee Bowerman's books. If you get a chance, you should check out her other series. You won't be disappointed.
I really liked these two together. A little fast on her part in the beginning at the wedding It seemed fast for him. But after that it picked up at the right pace for Thorn. I'm glad everything worked out. I loved reading all my favorite characters in this book.
I loved this just like I thought I would. I was surprised, but a happy surprised to know more about Thorn’s personality. In the other books he was sooo quiet and emotional that I thought he would be too soft. Turns out he is almost just like the rest of the men I love in your books, he just can’t express as vocally. I loved that he was just as much, if not more Alfa as the rest of them. He took charge and stated his claim when it mattered. I also was pleasantly surprised that we have another thing in common. I used to sing that It’s Amazing song to my first daughter when she was a baby over 20 years ago. Mostly because she was collicy and wouldn’t shut the heck up so it was more wishful thinking than anything. Then I had my third child and sang it to him all the time for a totally different reason. He was born with Spherocytosis which caused him to have severe jaundice when he was born. While I sat next to him in his little baby cooking machine watching him lay there with padding over his eyes and me not being allowed to hold him…I felt so helpless. I sang to him through those little arm wholes in the incubator thing hoping he didn’t feel so alone in there. Now 10 years later I still sing him that song.
This is the 5th book in the Tempests series (there are 2 more to come). We 1st met the Tempests in Cee Bowerman’s Texas Kings MC series: Fain (Book 12). The Tempests were raised in a cult-like MC by their father who thought he was a Norse god. This book is about Thorn Tempest (tattoo artist, chef extraordinaire and generally quiet man) and Phoebe Amble (life-long friend of Jenna (orig. Forrester) now Tempest, who could talk the ears off a person). Thorn and Phoebe meet at a wedding and though they are opposites, there’s an instant attraction. Thorn has secrets, Phoebe and Thorn have communication issues and then Phoebe gets a secret of her own. Eventually it all comes to a head and Thorn and Phoebe are finally able to truly communicate with each other. If you are familiar with Cee’s Texas Kings MC series, there’s a chance to catch up with favorites and of course there is lots of laughs, after it is a Cee Bowerman book.
Cee writes stories of wonderfully strong women who meet and fall for strong, protective alpha males and this one is no exception.
I've loved Thorn since we met him in Fain & Jenna's book. He was quiet but so kind, thoughtful, helpful, etc. In this book we meet Phoebe..or at least we learn more about her as she has been mentioned in other books. I felt for her and what happened to her family. She not only dealt with alcoholism with her father but also her "friend" Cliff (what a piece of work her turned out to be). I understand her plight as I've been around alcoholics most of my life. As far as her and Thorn are concerned they are both childlike (innocence, trouble communicating). I lol quite a few times with Phoebe's rambling, although it would drive me nuts really fast. Thorn however was able to deal with it. My heart broke right along with his. His emotions and not understanding why she did what she did. I'm not thrilled with how Phoebe dealt with it all but thankfully he took the bull by the horns and fixed it all.
Thorn is the 5th book in this series. This family has gone through so much and each of the brothers have to come to terms with the affect effects. Thorn is the quietest of the family, for reasons that become apparent at the beginning of the book…and sometimes the family forget he’s there, other times they take over for him…. Phoebe is the love interest and as a couple they are great together as the reader quickly realises..such a contrast, but they complement each other well. As a couple they progress BUT as they learn about each other there are things that come to light quite early, and some other things that create huge problems for them both. I’m never one to give spoilers so I’m just going to say here that if you love these books, you really will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.
These two are the perfect couple with the way Phoebe talks incessantly and Thorn barely says more than one or two words at any given time mainly because of his aphasia and some stuttering, but they both lack with actually communicating. It was quite interesting to find out about her pregnancy. I always love going back to Rojo and have the Kings and Knights included in these stories, but I really loved that Phoebe and Jenna were friends when younger and now they're sisters and with how big these families are, Phoebe has even more family now. Her neighbors Tasha and Monica were a hoot. Happy reading.
My love for Thorn knows no bounds! He is sheer perfection in man form. He has been through so much and he doesn't let it stop him. I adore him and his lady Phoebe is so lucky to have him. Phoebe appreciates him but still gets stunned with how caring and supportive he is to her. I was completely consumed by their story, it was impossible to put down. I could read volumes upon volumes about this couple and the Tempest family. I laughed in several places and cried a few tears, it was absolute perfection! All the stars for Thorn and Phoebe!
I laughed, I cried and I felt every single emotion possible. I felt like I was right there with them. I knew that when I started this book that I wouldn’t be able to put it down, but I started it anyway. And I loved every single minute of it. All those Tempests and Forresters! ❤️❤️❤️ I have loved Thorn from the first time I met him but I love him so much more now. It took me a minute to realize that Phoebe was Jenna’s roommate from her book - oh she grew up so good! I love these two for each other. So good!!!
I loved Thorn and Phoebe! While miscommunication/lack of communication is one of my least favorite things in romance books, with this story it fit perfect. Quiet Thorn falls in love with a non-stop chatty Phoebe. Factor in his speech challenges and you've got a perfect recipe for miscommunication. But I loved every bit of this story.
This is the first book in this series where I haved teared up (when Thorn was expressing his doubts about himself, it broke my heart).
I can't wait to get the Tempest sisters' stories! What a great series.
Family is a complicated thing, and God knows the Tempest family Is way more complicated than most! Of all the siblings so far Thorn has had the most to overcome, Phoebe had her own obstacles to jump over. But her and Thorn are a great couple once they get over the obstacles that are in their way. I love all the couples in this series, but Thorn and Phoebe now hold my heart! I can’t wait to see you which Tempest is next!
Thorn has to learn how to live after terrible horrible circumstances. He becomes one of the strongest men i have ever known. Phoebe's heart has a really tall wall. but Thorn being the man that he is, knows how to climb those walls! this book is awesome Cee Bowerman has done it again with pulling you into a family that is amazing and making a man that you can fall in love with! and a woman you wish you could be BFF's together
Holy Crap!!!! Another amazing story. I love love love the Tempests. Thorn was always my fav. For him to find his other half was always my hope. I found myself laughing and crying right along with the two of them. I love reading about all of the awesome family. Thorn has overcome so much and to see him with his own family warms the heart. Phoebe is a strong woman and perfect for him. Can't wait for the next Tempest to fall. Cee.... another smash hit.
Thorn comes from a cult background that ended his childhood in a very traumatic experience. It was horrific, yet it actually happens more than you realize. Phoebe’s another person that lost everything at a young age. These two lost souls connected on a level that was instantaneous. Loved catching up with some of my faves. Can’t wait for the girls books!!!!
I am so happy to have Thorn's HEA in my hands, I love the Tempest family and their connection to Smokey and Martha. Phone is the perfect match for Thorn. She is already a part of the wild and crazy Forrestor family. I love how both Phoebe and Thorn accept each other. Cee never shies away from the difficult parts of life. Lots of laugh out loud moments (Tasha2.0), a few tears and the overwhelming sense of returning home to family and friends. Can't wait for more.
The only bad thing about this book is that it ended.
Thorn is the quiet brother the one who came out of the ordeal his father caused with the mist to over come yet he is the kindness sweetness loyalist man Phoebe is no stranger to Los either Andover coming pain after meeting there is a Rollercoaster of emotions misunderstandings but love they are opposite to attract he is quiet and she won't shut up up but the fall in love
I absolutely loved Phoebe and Thorns story and the love of all their families. I know I have said it before on all of Ms. Bowermans books that each one is the best but I feel that Thorns story touches my heart deeply and knowing that all of adversity and challenges he had made him a better man in life and Phoebe was the best women for him. Great job with their story you prove that no matter what life hands you there is always ways to get through it and don’t give up!
Thorn is my favorite Tempest brother. His quiet determination slowly wins over his insecurities. A good lesson lies within for all of us. Really communicate, don't just talk. And finish those conversations instead of leaving important things left unsaid. Grab a box of tissues and join Thorn, Phoebe, the Texas Kings and the Tempests as Thorn and Phoebe fall in love
First you made a mistake, thorn mentioned phoebe didn't like tomatos. Then at the Denver airport she's eating his corn and tomato salad. The obstacles thorn had to overcome were so challenging. But to have aphasia, that must be excruciating. I love the tempest family, but how phones just let things roll off her back where thorns obstacles were concerned was inspiring. Thanks again for another great book. Oh read it twice now
I have always loved Thorn. I loved seeing him find the woman he loved. And again I felt like you looked into my life. Phoebe was in a very unique situation but Thorn never faltered n his love. I have read and loved every book Cee has written and suggest them to everyone who loves a great story about family and home.
Cee's books get better and better she totally amazes me!! Thorn has overcome so many struggles and deserves happiness. I love how his family is so accepting and not judgemental. I'm so happy that him and Phoebe found happiness. I'm not sure she realized that she was getting such a fantastic family!!
Cee Bowerman just keeps adding greatness to this series. I love all of the Tempest family but Thorn has always been my favorite so to finally see him get his HEA was great. I can’t wait to see who’s up next we are winding down and I see the next generation coming soon.
I love this story laughed so hard everyone needs a Monica and Tasha in there life. I loved Thorn from the beginning of this series. I loved that this story talks about different disabilities for they are a fact of life. Now Thorn and Phoebe are my favorite couple! You knocked it out of the park Cee!
Cee Bowerman did it again! Every book just gets better. The love story of Phoebe and Thorn. How they deal with Thorns disabilities . This book contains lots of laughter along with the tears. You will better enjoy this book of you go back and read the series according to the reading list. Absolutely love this author!
I won't post spoilers so this is just a quick snapshot . Thorn has been a favorite of mine since Fain , if you've read the previous books ( which you really should😁) you know his backstory. So watching him get his lady and make it too happy puts this book as my NUMBER 1 Tempest so far 😜😁😁
Thorn has been my favourite Tempest sibling since we were first introduced to them in Fain and Jenna's book. Cee found the perfect match for him in Phoebe. As with all of Cee's books you get all the feels and a generous helping of humor, including one of her funniest scenes yet!
Loved this book. Through out this series Thorn was always a favorite and this book didn’t disappoint. Also if you have read Cee’s other series, you get glimpses of the Rojo family as well, and I love catching up with previous characters and seeing how they are doing.
