Good story. Just a little drawn out. Could of had less repeat. Characters are well rounded with some secrets

I just love Kit. She's very much 'not like other girls' but she's not written insufferably. She doesn't put down other women despite them doing it to her and dresses like a man for comfort. Her comebacks are always something like 'this makes my life easier' 'I bet my clothes would be comfortable on you too if you tried it.'
The only super unrealistic thing to me is that Kit was trained to be a spy from young childhood yet is so averse to torture and execution. It doesn't sound like she'd be able to take torture herself which I'd think would be a part of the training.
Regardless, I enjoy Kit and the story.

1584. Having learnt that assassin, Gregorio Luca, will be arriving in England, Walsingham instructs Kit and Iomhar to find him and bring him back to London to go on trial. But also is there traitor in the Privy Council.

What a fantastic follow up to the first in this series! I loved the Gentlewomen Spy and quickly grew to love both Kit’s character and that of Iomhar. They make for such a great team and the banter between them both, squabbling like an old married couple, is so entertaining to read.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting The Royal Assassin and I was surprised at how easily I disappeared into the story. I love the setting and it’s a great historical fiction. Anything set around the Tudor period I love and on a quest to protect Queen Elizabeth from potential usurpers to her throne makes for exciting reading!
It’s one of those books that I always found myself looking forward to returning back to. I have such a fondness for this series now and I can’t wait for the next one to see how it will further move along with the plot and story!

Kit Scarlett strikes again!
Once again the dashing Elizabethan adventuress and spy Kit Scarlett is called on to help save her country! Thrown in at the deep end by Francis Walsingham, Kit and Iomhar have to find a mysterious Italian assassin and stop him before he can cause mayhem.
The joy of this book is not just the twists and turns of the plot (and there are plenty of those), but the growing relationship between Kit and Iomhar. There’s plenty of banter, a hint of affection - and a realisation that they would each do whatever it takes to keep the other safe.
I look forward to the next adventure!

Loved it as much as the first one. Lots of excitement and adventure. Great character's we find out more about as it goes along what more could you ask for. Not really a stand alone though as themes run through out although there is some resolution in each part there is always a bit left to discover so a bit of a cliff hanger at the end. Looking forward to the next which is already on preorder. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A excellent follow up to the first in this series! I enjoyed the Gentlewomen Spy and quickly grew to like both Kit’s character and that of Iomhar. And finding out more about their earlier lives. Interesting how the book finished to make way for the next installment. Looking forward to reading it when it's released. Adele Jordan is a wonderful new author that other people should take a look at.

well researched excitement
The character of Kit is a refreshing change - as the protagonist in this era of history.
The facts are well researched and I needed to read on to find out what happens. Some of the ‘fight’ scenes were very exciting.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.

A great adventure and fantastic characters.
I loved the first book in this series and can’t wait for book three to see where the adventure takes Kit and Iomahr Great locations and lots of twists and turns in the plot.
