It starts when the bees die and a plague sweeps across the Earth. The immune survive only to face a greater horror: a demon-ruled world where mankind is either marked or possessed.
But Leah survives. For three years, she lives on her own after fleeing the fall of her city until she meets Raum, a demon who keeps her alive and unmarked. Uncertain of his motives, she follows him to Babel, even though she knows his intentions are anything but good.
When Leah is stolen from Raum, she discovers the outside world is not what it once was, and perhaps hope for mankind is not lost. But with new hope comes consequences, and she'll have to face a nightmare far greater than anything she's ever faced before.
Allison Paige’s dark fantasy novels are inspired by her nightmares and dreams. Her stories shed light on villains and the darker side of what it takes to make a hero.
Her debut novel After the Bees was derived from the important message that without bees we have no future. This inspired the continuance of Raum and Leah's story that has now become the Revelation Trilogy where each book has an underlying environmental message.

What was that?!?
This book was DARK, darker than I expected but I'm here for it. It was a wild ride that I couldn't predict and I didn't want to get off of. I couldn't tell how I should feel, One minute I'm team demon and the next I'm not - Probably a lot like out FMC Leah feels. I loved all of the biblical and Greek themes and how everything is tied together.
Leah is a strong character who learned how to survive on her own out of necessity. She's the kind of character that will fight for what's right but she can't even trust herself to know what's reality most of the time.
All of the characters are very diverse, including side characters. I loved them all so much. My feelings on the MMC are undecided at the moment, he had me feeling all kinds of things and I'm still trying to process it!
I's been awhile since I've read a post apocalyptic book and this did not disappoint at all! So glad my friend got me to read this!

The bees are gone and a plague has swept the earth. There are no zombies or undead, but a much greater threat…demons. -
This is one of those books that I acknowledge had a few flaws in pacing and could be a little choppy at times. My main nitpick was sometimes the characters acted a certain way for no clear reason, or they changed their emotion kind of quickly, but they did have good depth and growth to them. I genuinely have no serious complaints about this, it was such a fun read.
The world building was solid, the writing was vivid, professional but not overly complicated and jumbled. The plot does deal with some heavy themes as mentioned above, but those things don’t bother me at all.
Overall, “After the Bees” is fast paced, intense, shocking. Horrific but delicious. I honestly struggled to put it down, and the ENDING..had me scrambling to message the author and grovel for book 2.
I was so beyond pleasantly surprised with this book. It definitely needs more love! I highly recommend checking it out— at least give the Kindle sample a try to see if it’s up your alley. Support your local indie authors today! Thank you Paige for sharing your book with me! <3
The end of the world has come after the bees disappeared from Earth. A devastating plague hits humanity and those who survived are faced with a horrific future. In the absence of the bees, demons have taken over the world. Leah has survived on her own for three years, but on a fateful night she meets the demon, Raum, who takes her along on his quest to reach Babel.
I really enjoyed this novel. The characters were all well written and I especially enjoyed getting to know Leah. The emotions that she showed felt genuine. The demons were also really well written to be horrific characters but were also given a great depth to them. The world itself also has a great depth to it. The writing was excellent and kept me fully engaged in the story. After the Bees was really interesting novel and I’m looking forward to the future of this series.
I loved the story. It was a story that involved my emotions. I loved Leah, she’s a very well written female character. Raum and the rest of the characters are well written And developed as well. The ending really got me when it came to emotions. I found parts of the story intense and I just kept wanting to read and didn’t want to put it down. I love a story that involves my emotions. This is a book I highly recommend.

After the Bee's was a very interesting take on a post-apocalyptic world after the bees have disappeared and demons roamed the earth. The characters were very well written, and the story was very engaging and left me wanting to know what would happen next as the story continues to unfold where this book leaves off.
I had won this book as a good reads giveaway and it enjoyed it very much!!!
I'm not even sure where to begin. This story was intense, it was graphic, it was wow! When I first started to read it I never even thought it would go the direction it went. I was surprised and loved every minute. I will have to read the next one, that cliff hanger was intense!
After the Bees took me by surprise. I was initially drawn to it because of the post-apocalyptic premise—a world where bees have disappeared and demons roam the earth. What I wasn’t expecting was just how dark and brutal this story would be. There’s gore, violence, and a chilling disregard for human life.
This is not a romance, nor an enemies-to-lovers story—it’s a harrowing depiction of abuse, manipulation, and survival. The relationship at the center of the book is not one of love but of power and control. The use of an unreliable narrator added another layer of complexity, catching me off guard and making the story even more unsettling.
Despite the darkness, the book was fast-paced, tense, and utterly disturbing at times—I couldn’t put it down.

What happens after the bees disappear. This book is an interesting take on what happens when the world ends. This post apocalyptic world has everything you need. Demons, nomads, and mystery. Why did the bees disappear? Where did the demons come from? And who can you trust. Leah will do anything to stay safe but after 3 years alone she is captured by a demon once again. And this one never wants to let her go. How far will he go to keep her and what will Leah do when the people who take her in want to protect her when the demon comes for her. And what happens when you can’t even trust yourself let alone anyone else. I loved this book and can’t wait for book 2.
Stumbled across this book on Tiktok and took a chance reading at after the author gave me a little insight on it. I ended up loving it. There are some trigger warnings that deal with sexual assault, gore and horror. There is also some spice if you’re into reading it!
Spoiler alert.....there is no HEA! Sometimes though, there doesn't need to be a HEA to have a book finish so satisfyingly. This is one of those books! Please check your trigger warnings! This book enters a world where demons rule, the bees have died, and humans are a rarity. Demons and humans don't get along, except for Raum and the human girl he keeps. Their story is exactly love but it describes a lot of relationships in modern times, metaphorically.

I have read my fair share of post apocalyptic books and paranormal/dark romances but I can truly say that this book is unlike anything I have ever read. The premise is unique, the world is rich, and the characters are complex. I highly enjoyed the theological aspects of this story that allowed for a fresh take on the end of the world and what the meaning of salvation could be. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the mention of animal brutality/death but that is just personal preference and it didn't get past the point of being unbearable.
I highly recommend picking this up if you are a fan of dark romance, urban fantasy, paranormal romance, or you are just looking for something different!

This book takes place in a post-apocalyptic world; when the Bee's disappeared, the demons arrived which is known as The Posession
Leah has been out in the wilderness of Montana for the past 3 years in hiding. After losing her boyfriend and being abused by the demon that took him over, she ran off and has been alone ever since up until Raum appears and turns her life upside down.
Raum has taken Leah, but why? After walking out of Raums clutches, she runs into other humans. She hasn't seen another human in 3 years.
I loved how Allison Paige wrote and as a reader, I was always on my toes. I loved how it wasn't so predictable.
This IS a Dark Romance Book. If you do not like anything with Gore, Manipulation, SA, Foul Language, or Death, or are triggered by it, this book is not for you.
" I don't trust you, Raum, but you better fucking protect me from them," I say. He nips the top of my cheek with a purr. "When you die, it will be by none other than me."
If you like: -Enemies to Lovers (not insta love.) -Spice -Betrayals -Dystopia -Biblical Angels & Demons This book is for you!
I received a a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, however I loved it so much I ordered a hard copy as soon as I finished! Allison Paige wrote a book that will grip you from beginning to end. The world building to the characters were refreshing, with well rounded personalities, back stories and beautifully described scenery. The way that Allison Paige manages to make you symapthetic to and root for all sides, perhaps even if you shouldnt was something I haven't experienced in another book. Feeling exactly what Leah's going through, relief, anger, sadness, hope, loss and so much more right along with her. It was truly a one of a kind read with the most indepth and beautiful writing without making the story seem slow or dragged out. This book is a must read if you love dark fantasy, dark romance, spice, end of the world scenarios and demons. I genuinely look forward to release of her follow up book Through High Waters.
I really enjoyed this authors take on the post apocalyptic world! Having demons roam the world after the disappearance of the bees?! Incredible take! The world building was written so well that it was easy to imagine. The author brought such depth and emotion to each character that you weren’t sure whether to root for or against said character.
This was a fast paced read and packed a lot of detail for being less than 300 pages, which makes me excited to read the next book!
Thank you to the author for the copy of this book, I was not disappointed!
Wow. I don't even know where to start. This came up as a book recommendation for me after a few others I had finished reading, so I didn't hesitate to give it a shot. Once I got started reading this book, I really didn't want to put it down (unfortunately life forced me to here and there to work and whatnot). The characters were well written and I don't know whether I should love Raum or despise him. There is so much depth and roundness to him as a character. He isn't just your typical cut-and-dry basic bad guy. The details provided throughout the book are a wonderful blend of vivid and gruesome. Definitely adding to my favorites.
I loved reading this book from the very start. The backstory is known from the beginning which I appreciate. It gets right into the action of Leah's survivalist situation in a post apocalyptic world. I was obviously skeptical of Raum when she meets him but found myself liking him by the end of the book. I guess I like the bad guys. Lol. I'm very intrigued as to what will happen next with Leah and Raum and her survival as she tries to keep her humanity as much as possible. I'm not very good at reviews but I enjoyed this read very much hence the 5 stars.
A captivating novel that contains amazing depictions of a wide range emotions from discontent, hate, admiration, love and more. From start to finish I was kept ready to swipe to the next page with no real moments where I felt forced to pause. The author shows great potential for incredible works and has a keen talent at keeping her readers attention. The story is excellently crafted with unpredictable outcomes and events which only serve to capture the readers attention with every turn of the page. 5/5 stars.
This is my first time reading this author and I enjoyed this book. The plot is an interesting one, has a nice steady pace and flows nicely. The characters have depth to them and there is a lot of emotion throughout the story. It’s dark but not overly so. It’s a great few hours read that easily held my attention.

I stumbled on this book at a local shared library in town. What a great ride! This was a thrilling emotional story of a young woman trying to survive after the apocalypse. In a world full of demons you follow Leah as she tries to survive and hold on to her humanity. I quickly devoured this book and look forward to her next books!
I loved Raum!! I couldn’t get enough of this bad guy character and I wanted to know more about him.
The author did a really good job of balancing sharing details of this world but giving just enough mystery as well. I can’t wait to find out the answer to the mysteries and what happens next with Leah and Raum. I found myself wanting to read the next book NOW.
This book is amazing not going lie, it had me hooked from the beginning. Not sure whether to love or hate Raum. This book told me for a ride that i couldn't get off. While reading i thought i knew where we were going but no totally different direction. I definitely think it needs a trigger warning page added because this book gets intense.
I hadn’t heard anything about After the Bee’s but I’m glad I’ve been given the opportunity to read it! I’m not one to usually read a dystopian themed book, however, this gripped me so hard. I became so enthralled with Leah and her story that I found myself wanting to read it any chance I had. I highly recommend After the Bee’s!
This book reminded me of some of my favorite dystopian authors. It had the same vibes as Margaret Atwood and Justin Cronin’s works, but with spice. I enjoyed every dark moment. Make sure to read the triggers, because this book of demons and apocalypse was every bit as gory and bark as they should be!
This book kept me up late because I needed to know what was gonna happened next. It painted a vivid picture for my imagination, and was a great escape for me during the quarantine. I can’t wait until the sequel is released.
A refreshing take on the end of the world! The characters are well developed, the concept is original, and it does a great job of keeping you hooked, especially at the tail end of the book. I'll definitely be reading the next one!
