A name that strikes terror in the hearts of the galaxy.
Well, maybe not terror, but respect. More like caution, actually.
Since you know how hot-headed Humans can be.
After the galaxy was savagely attacked by invaders, the Milky Way was left but a shadow of its former self. Gone are the vast empires that once brought stability, law and order to countless star systems. In its wake, a savage, almost Wild West existence emerged, ruled by gun and muscle. And for anyone needing help in either the gun or muscle category—or both—everyone knows you … Hire a Human .
As the quasi-supermen of the galaxy, Humans have a reputation for being the baddest of the badasses. Stronger than most, skilled at the art of war and other chicanery, Humans once ruled a vast stellar empire of their own. Not any longer. Now, most of them have retreated to Earth to rebuild after the devastating invasion. Now, only a few hardy Humans still wander the space lanes in search of work. If you can find a Human for Hire , you can’t go wrong. The only Be prepared for a lot of collateral damage.
Adam Cain wanted to stay anonymous, hiding from his famous name while eking out a living as a bounty hunter, enforcer, bodyguard or mercenary … anything that would pay credits for his particular set of skills. Work was plentiful, but his customers seldom told the whole truth about the job they wanted him to do. And when Adam accepts a contract to recover a fugitive on a stinking cesspool of a world, he finds more than he bargained for. But on his next 'simple' assignment, things go really bad and turns into DIE HARD in Space. Yippie-ki-ay ...!

My first read with this author. Well done. Very well done!
Adam Cain is human in a galaxy full of aliens. That's a good thing. Humans are stronger, faster, and better looking than most of the creatures who employ him. Because of his deceptive strength and intelligence, he is a foot above other mercenaries and his fees reflect his ability. His work demands the highest fees because he is the Human For Hire! Endearing characters and a strong storyline to begin the series, Human For Hire is a great read!
Good old fashioned sci fi/ space opera with an unconventional hero fighting the bad guys, when he's hired to protect a delegate from a poor planet it seems like an easy job but things go south real fast. When a mercenary force hired to provide security on the space station where the meeting is being held start killing staff and holding the delegates to random it soon turns into a bloodbath. Non-stop action great storylines and awesome well written characters this is a must read for fans of old school sci fi looking forward to seeing what book two holds, Baz.
But this is going for a VERY specific feeling. While it succeeds just fine, it is overall just okay. The writing gets a little muddled, the traditions could be smoother, nothing that would keep you from enjoying this but not top notch work. If you like Die Hard, you'll be fine with it.
It follows that with references to both Mission Impossible and Die Hard that this book’s format would mirror those works in style. Decent character development and a plot with enough action scenes to keep it interesting and sufficient escapes to keep the reader following. Ends as expected, all current story threads resolved.
The author keeps referring to the background of the main character. And I see there are several series that deal with the history of the character. This brings me to want to read all of them because I need to know about this interesting person.
I love these action books. Pure BS and macho macho. Cain's performing a simple body guard duty when everything goes to pot. Picks up a love interest, and saves a bunch of undeserving aliens. Has an interesting relationship with a bunch of pollywogs, but watch out for that metamorphosis.
Fortunately I am a 4,.5 time adolescent. Good story with lots of implausible stuff. Like Starship Troopers. Adam could be named Jack except he works for someone, the lethality of a Tanner with out the slyness. Looking forward to the next one. Curious about Ideara.
This book is the first in the series and was great . Adam was full of action and attitude as always. Give it a try and I think you will get hooked on T.R. Harris just like I have.
Very thrilling and action packed. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Some character names and alien species names are hard to pronounce mentally, but it makes it fun. While reading, it was almost like a movie in my head, really easy to picture everything coming to "life."
Loved the story. I like the fact that a human could be basically a superhero. There was a lot of great action and twists and turns which I enjoyed. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Alright so good first book, it does remind me of some of the sci-fi I read in the late 60's. Starting out new series is tough some times but not this, grab a tea or coffee sit down get comfy because you might be there awhile.
A good read. I liked the humans being stronger, better, more abke than the aliens, usually thats the ither way around. One issue, the auther used the name of Jesus in vain.....no reason to do that, not a good idea either.
This is a good book it's well written but anything in science fiction there's giant leaps of faith that really don't make sense but it's enjoyable and I think the characters come through at pretty solid level.
pretty poorly written. story was overall bland. pick an random entry on reddit.com/r/HFY/ and your likely to get a better story that had more thought put into it.
