Soul Sounds Brothers #1

Unexpected Baby For My Brother's Best Friend

Rate this book
I broke the bro code and took my best friend’s sister’s V card.

Now there’s hell to pay.

Rock-n-roll and relationships don’t mix.

I knew my best friend’s sister was trouble, but I wanted a taste anyway.

I shouldn’t be thinking about how her minidress would look crumpled on the floor.

Or how good she’d look on my bed.

Or the feeling of her thighs resting on my shoulders.

But it’s all I can think about.

She’s all I can think about.

One night of bliss may cost me everything.

My best friend, my career, and my carefree future.

But when she tells me I’m going to be her baby’s daddy…

This was a really sweet story. It's about Amy, a girl wanting to lose her virginity; and Dylan, a rockstar who happens to be Amy's brother's best friend. They spend the next little bit of time together and developing feelings, but life gets in the way. Amy soon finds out she's pregnant with a very unexpected baby.

I liked this book. It was romantic, funny, and sweet. I do hope it gets better editing before it's published though.

important bits:
virgin heroine
age gap (22h, 32H)
no OM/OW
no cheating
safe
tropes-brothers best friend, surprise pregnancy, rockstar.

I truly don't know where to start. As someone who has gone through a narcissistic abusive marriage now I'm divorced and a single mom... I couldn't put this book down I was laughing I was crying I felt Dylan's pain when she relived the the mental emotional and verbal abuse by his mother and his fear to love again. The author wrote an amazingly beautiful story to show how you can heal from trauma of abuse and love so hard you can't breath.
Dylan's love for Amy is proof that someone can move slow!KY past the trauma and find happiness and peace while falling in love with your twin flame your other half.
Amy never gave up on Dylan she loved him enough to give him his space and to work through is issues she accepts him damaged and flawed as he is and that's so beautiful

Its sad that most people believe domestic violence is only when your being beaten...narcissistic abuse (gaslighting, love bombing and manipulation) is the silent domestic violence I am a survivor yes I have PTSD from the abuse and this book shows that even men can be put through the same abuse.
The story is beautifully written I can't wait to see if she turns this into a series for the other characters as well.

You'll enjoy Dylan and Amy's story. The characters are well developed, likable and fun. The story line is engaging and easy to read. Be warned that it's hard to put down once you start reading. Amy is the younger sister of his best friend and it's been years since he'd seen her. Therefore neither realized who the other was when they had a 'night to remember' No shortage of drama, a twist or two and a surprise. Some triggers with childhood abuse. I read a free advance copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

Unexpected Baby for my Brother’s Best Friend by Callie Stevens is a full-length standalone rockstar romance. This book hits many tropes: age gap, rockstar romance, surprise pregnancy, steamy, virgin heroine, and brother’s best friend.

Amy Higgins may only be 22-years-old but she has built a successful fashion design business called Keaton Designs. She has big dreams to pursue in her career and doesn’t have much time to invest in serious relationships. Amy’s famous rockstar brother, Lucas, is getting married in Hawaii and she travels with her friend Casey to attend the nuptials. They decide to go to a bar upon arrival and Amy spots a handsome guy that peaks her interest. Their connection and chemistry is instant. Amy is inexperienced but decides a quick fling while in Hawaii could be good for her. She ends up drinking with him and going back to his hotel room for a fun filled night.

Dylan is a famous rockstar with only a few personal attachments and isn’t a typical playboy rockstar that most people assume he is. His bandmates Lucas, Jay, and Chase are his closest friends that he considers family. Dylan had a rough childhood that has affected how he forms relationships, particularly with women. He’s in a bar when he notices the beautiful and enticing Amy. He doesn’t recognize her as Lucas’ sister as it has been years since he’s seen her. He would never intentionally break the “bro code” and become intimate with his bandmate’s little sister… but it happens.

The next day, Lucas re-introduces Amy and Dylan. They’re both wide eyed and come to the realization of what they have done. Their chemistry is hard to resist for both of them despite their efforts. They definitely fight their connection but ultimately the tension breaks and they give into their desires. Can they secretly fool around? Lucas can never find out that his best friend Dylan took his little sister’s v-card. Or that he got her pregnant and they’re expecting a baby.

This was an entertaining read with lots of heartache and angst. It was dual POV with Amy and Locke. The steam was excellent. I do wish Dylan groveled a bit more after leaving Amy suddenly but in the end, they got their happily-ever-after, and that’s what matters!

Tropes: Age gap, rockstar romance, bad boys, surprise pregnancy, virgin heroine, brother’s best friend, happily-ever-after
Heat: 3/5

Weddings are meant to be magical, not only for the soon to be husband and wife but for those who get to be apart of such an intimate moment in the couples lives. Dylan is happy for his best friend and his fiance but he doesn't see himself ever getting married let alone falling in love. Amy's big break is her brother's wedding. She designed the dress his fiance is going to wear and its the perfect attention her brand needs. A drunken almost hookup has both of them wishing something else had happened. Until they realize they are both attending the same wedding.

My rating:☕️☕️☕️☕️(4/5)
Such a refreshing read! I was reluctant at first reading it. I didn't want to enjoy it thing of the authors other book (I loved Locke! Sue me!) But Dylan and Amy was so refreshing to see. I loved how straight forward Dylan was. Until things got serious he had no issue sharing his emotions. Amy while reluctant at first for the obvious reasons they shouldn't be together she couldn't fight off the chemistry they both shared. While getting ready for the wedding them exploring their relationship was adorable.

🚨🚨Spoilers below read at your own risk🚨🚨

I honestly was upset when Dylan took off after overhearing Amy confess she loved him. While he could have pretended to never overhearing it was heartbreaking to her finding out the next day he was gone. And when she called him in a moment of weakness to tell him about the pregnancy; him hanging up before she even said anything was upsetting as well. I was shocked by how well the brother and best friend took it though! I would of thought Lucas would of given Dylan more hell for having a fling with his sister. I was beyond happy that there was a good chunk left when Dylan confessed loving Amy and finding out about the pregnancy. While I would have loved him talking it out with the guys after he ran away I liked that Dylan turned around himself. And that epilogue!!!! Too cute!! Those cousins are gonna be so close!!!

The story is really good and I enjoyed the characters and their journey. I received this as an ARC and as such, it will most likely have seen further editing before it's actually published. And I hope so. There are some definite typos or clunky wording (mostly I find certain words sounding clunky in my head when a contraction could be used and isn't). But has the story progressed, there were bigger issues than typos that could easily be fixed before publication. Like we're first told her father passed away three years ago. And her parents had owned a real estate business together, but her mom sold part of the shares to invest in her brother's band, and the rest her mom wants her to take over when she's ready to retire. But then when she's telling Dylan about her childhood, her dad passed away when she was really young and had his own fashion company that didn't go very far and her mom sold it to invest in the band. There were a few other things, mostly involving her background or a small hiccup in the timeline, some as easy to fix as the typos, others more difficult where whole facts need changed to remain consistent. It also felt too easy when he came back into her life. I felt like she should have said more before she was back with him. Not much, but it just felt like she left some important things unsaid to me.
Still, overall I loved the characters and was happy for them to be back together and would love to read stories for the other characters we meet.
*Even though I received this as an ARC, I am leaving an honest and voluntary review.

This is the 1st story in the Soul Sounds Brothers Series where we get the journey of Dylan a member of the band who writes their songs and plays guitar and Amy a younger woman trying to breakout in the design fashion world using a grandfathers name for her brand name. These two meet not knowing who the other person is to them. Amy’s older brother is Lucas who is Dylan’s best friend/band mate part of a successful band. They are in Hawaii for Lucas’s wedding and spend time together and realize who they are several days later. They each have scars from their past as Dylan’s mother was verbally and emotionally abusive toward him and his dad never learning to love. Amy lost her father several years ago and her mother’s favorite is her brother, Lucas and everyone knows it. Her dad had a small fashion company that her mom sold off to Amy’s disappointment. They have a secret relationship and after some time Amy is in danger and Dylan takes action to help her only to break his hand losing his ability to play guitar right before their tour. From that point on things go from great to nothing at all leaving Amy heartbroken and their secret is revealed causing problems with all the guys in the band. Amy moves forward keeping her head up and Dylan is just miserable with Amy and can’t find a way to give in to his love for her. Dylans dad helps him along the way and gives him the push needed to find a way back to Amy. The success Amy finds is bittersweet so when Dylan shows up Amy has hope to have Dylan a part of their lives. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Callie Stevens starts out rocking with the Soul Sounds Brothers series. Book 1: Unexpected Baby For My Brother’s Best Friend is steamy and entertaining. The band is together to celebrate their lead singer’s wedding. Lucas Higgins and Dylan have been best friends for years. The band Soul Sounds Brothers has made all the members famous. Dylan wants to start a foundation. He rather focuses on his music than live the playboy lifestyle any longer. He is thrown for a loop when he unexpectedly meets a woman who could be the one for him. After an enjoyable evening talking, they both fall asleep. She is gone the next morning before names are exchanged.

Amy Higgins is trying to make a name for herself in fashion. She does not want to be known as the lead singer to Soul Sounds Brothers' little sister. Therefore, she gives her design firm her maternal grandfather’s name. She is making a splash designing her soon to be sister in laws wedding dress. She arrives in town a day early to blow off steam with her closest friend. When Amy is ditched by a friend, her night takes a different turn. She gets a surprise the next day, when her man and her show up to the same wedding party get together.

Dylan and Amy were at her brother's wedding and while they tried their best to stay away from one another the pull between them was just to strong. Dylan was the type of guy that didn't believe in love, he watched is dad fall apart after his mom left and just did not want to risk it. He is much of a loner and grumpy, but all of his friends are used to his quirks and think nothing of it. That is ... until he meets Amy.

Amy sees Dylan and his brother's friends for the first time since she was a kid and doesn't realize who he is at first, until the next day. She is there for her brother and best friend all while making the wedding dress. She actually uses Dylan as a mannequin which is cute. After Amy tells Dylan how she feels he runs away thinking that he is not good enough for her. It is until he realizes he made a huge mistake, does he realize she has a secret.

I really liked the interactions between these two characters it was very realistic and they're cute together. Everyone is like a family whether they are blood related or not. I thought this book was cute and am glad I was given the opportunity to read it.

Dylan is part of a rock band, his friend and band mate is getting married so they are in Hawaii for the wedding. He is not the playboy everyone thinks he is but he lets them believe what they want about him. He meets a woman he is instantly attracted to while on a night out, but the next day finds out its his friends kid sister Amy that he hasn't seen in years.
When they both realise the truth the next day, they try to stay away from each other but that proves difficult as the attraction is still there.
Amy is trying to build a fashion design business so doesn't have time to invest in a relationship, even if she wanted one with Dylan.
But what happens when then they give into their desires, can they sneak around without anyone finding out. What happens when Amy finds out she's pregnant.

This is an entertaining story, the writer tells the story of each character well. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

Loved! This sweet and quick romance was a fun read I didn't want to put down. I wish the book was a little bit longer, partially for selfish reasons, but mostly because I think there is a slight lack of character development. We see glimpses of Dylan's early life and how it effects him, but if I think if the book was longer, that could have been explored more. I also don't completely agree with Amy's reasons of keeping the baby a secret and not telling Dylan. I understand why she did it, but he was bound to find out eventually. I would have liked to see Dylan be around for more of Amy's pregnancy. Especially considering the title of the book is "Unexpected Baby For My Brother's Best Friend." The pregnancy could be taken out of the book, and the plot would essentially be the same. Also, frankly, it's just a terrible title all around.

I loved Unexpected Baby For My Brother's Best Friend by Callie Stevens. Dylan's childhood has left him believing love was just a fantasy and relationships didn't last. Falling for Amy, his best friend's little sister was definitely not in his plans but she is nothing like the girls he goes out with. They are only temporary distractions that enjoy being seen with a musician. Dylan and Amy definitely broke the rules when they couldn't keep their hands off each other. A confession from Amy sends Dylan running, leaving Amy devastated. Amy sees no other choice but to leave Hawaii alone after her brother's wedding. Only Amy returns to New York pregnant. Will Amy tell Dylan he is going to be a dad and will Dylan realize his feelings for Amy before it's too late? And let's not forget her very protrective brother Lucas. How will feel when he learns of their secret relationship? Looking forward to the next book.

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Story had a mix of age gap and brother's best friend. Although the guys are in a band, the gritty side of the music scene isn't portrayed so it's a clean easy going happy vibe that you get. The chemistry between Dylan and Amy was hot yet it had that slow burn feel as they tried to fight their attraction to each other. Loved that the characters were well developed and the plot was so well paced that it drew me in, with the emotion, pain and love. Reading what Dylan went through growing up was heart wrenching and served as a reminder that it does scar how a child views the world and affects him even as a grown up. Loved the 2 of them together and so glad they got their HEA.

Second Chance, Age Gap Rock Romance

This is a second chance, age gap story about a rock star and his bandmate’s sister. It seems its pretty much a written law that you don’t mess with a best friend and bandmate’s sister. Dylan hadn’t seen Amy for years and didn’t recognize as to who she was when they first met. All they knew it that they were both in Hawaii for a wedding.

There were times in this book that I could feel my heartache not only for Dylan’s childhood but also for the connection both Dylan and Amy were trying to fight. I didn’t really get any actual rock band story as to their music and touring. I did see Amy as a woman who had drive as she was trying to grow her fashion design business but at times was too selfless.

I’m hoping we can get more on the other guys from the band.

I found this story a bit slow paced. Dylan is a bit older than Amy. They first see each other one night in Hawaii when Amy’s brother is getting married. They spend the night together but they only talked. They continued the develop feeling for each other and begin an Hawaiian fling. After Amy admits one night that she loves him, Dylan up and leaves flying home. Both hung up on each other continue their own lives Dylan as a rockstar and Amy as a fashion designer on the up. Amy suddenly finds out that she is pregnant. She tries to contact Dylan but he doesn’t take her calls. Only when she gives up and accepts that she is going to raise their baby alone Dylan admits his feelings. I feel the ending could have gone so many different ways, I feel the ending didn’t tie up enough for me.

Amy was in Hawaii because she designed her future sister-in-law’s wedding dress and attend her brothers wedding. On the first evening there she meets a man, they hit it off and had a great night together. The problem is the next day when it hits her that the handsome stranger isn’t a stranger at all. It’s actually Dylan and he’s a member of her brother’s band and his best friend. They both know this is dangerous because her brother wouldn’t approve. Dylan is ten years older and they have different lives, but they can’t help themselves. The chemistry is off the charts. When they got together I swear my Kindle was smoking! These two are just so adorable together, but Dylan’s childhood trauma keeps his heart in lockdown. This book is really good and the ending doesn’t disappoint. I’m giving this book five stars and highly recommend it.

This love story about Any and Dylan was very sweet, albeit somewhat expected. There were several things I enjoyed about this book… the characters are fun and mostly enjoyable, the story arc is interesting and the technical skills are good. I was glad to be reading an arc that had good editing for a change. It was, however, a challenge for me to connect emotionally with all the “feels” I should’ve felt with this romance between the two. It might be due to wanting a few more details to complete the connection at times. Without giving any spoilers, there was one thing in particular that I waited for Dylan to know about that never happened. I felt that was an incredibly important piece of knowledge he should’ve been given. I encourage this author to keep writing and expand on establishing that vital connection between her readers and the characters.

Amy and Dylan

Easy read. He’s her brother’s bandmate and best friend. He’s also 10 years older and has some hang ups with relationships due to his abusive mother. She tells him she loves him and he takes off. She goes onto her surging fashion designer career and a month later discovers she’s pregnant. Another month goes by - 4 months now and he finally realizes he is in love with her. He goes to surprise her and finds her pregnant- he leaves at first but then turns around. He confesses his love - hea with him proposing.

The romance was ok - nothing earth shattering. There seemed to maybe be some pages missing or something at times because there seemed to be some small gaps in the writing. It was also strange that it seemed like wherever they went a band was playing and they could just jump on stage and sing too - like everywhere… seemed really unrealistic.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book and am leaving an honest review. I loved this rock star romance. The characters are interesting and the story was really good. Amy has dreams of having her own wedding dress company and has no intentions of starting a family or finding Mr Right. Dylan wants nothing to do with relationships, family or anything of the sort. After his childhood, he’s not interested. BUT there’s just something about Amy that he can’t let go. She gives him butterflies, he can’t stop thinking about her and she feels the same. What happens when two people with no plans for a family find themselves having one anyway? Read this great book and find out.

"I am completely in love with her, and I don't know what to do about it."

My favourite quote - (What happens when we leave? Will Dylan even remember our time together?)

I loved this story. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a good rockstar romance that is not all smooth sailing. Sparks fly between Dylan & Amy & it's not until the next day that each realise who the other is. The heat & desire between Dylan & Amy is palpable & it's not long before temptation proves too much. Amy falls hard for Dylan but does he feel the same way?
Will their chance at a HEA be dashed by news of Amy expecting a baby & Dylan reluctant to sort through his feelings.

Another second chance, age gap story this time about a rock star and his bandmate’s younger sister. Now every guy knows that you don’t mess with your best friend's sister especially when he's also your bandmate, you don't break the bro code!

Amy went to Hawaii to attend a wedding, a wedding Dylan is also attending but it's been years since he's seen Amy and had no idea who she was when they met. Once he knows who she is they both try to fight the connection they feel to each other.

I liked both the main characters, I really felt for Dylan when we learned of his childhood, lots of angst here as they try to resist the pull they feel. Will they work something out without breaking up the band?

Such a good story. Both Dylan and Amy were true to themselves. Both were at high points in their careers and their meeting and “fling” were unplanned. Dylan had a tough childhood and he carries those scars with him. He fears changing the relationships he has with his band mates who have become his family. Amy is young but mature and is making a name for herself in fashion design through hard work and determination. But when Amy and Dylan meet, they are just “it” for each other but past scars and work commitments pull them apart. Their working back to each other is fraught with doubts and set backs but they finally realize that being together is everything. Really pulled on my heart strings.

“It will fade. These three words have become my mantra…”

I’m a big fan of rockstar romances. They are my favorite genre and I’m always happy to find a new author. This is Callie’s second book ever and it’s her second rockstar book. I enjoyed the last one and I really liked this one as well. I think I would have had trouble connecting with Dylan but based on his childhood I actually understand him and why he acts the way he does. I loved him and Amy together and really wanted them to finally get their acts together and find their HEA. I truly enjoyed this book and will absolutely read her next when it comes out.

Amy and Dylan met at her brother's wedding not knowing of their connection through Lucas, Amy's brother and Dylan's best friend. They spent the night talking, but it progressed to passion as they spent more time together. Dylan has had no real role model for what it is to love and he's rather jaded, so when he hears Amy confess to loving him, he bails. He took the cheap way out, the coward's way of dealing with a woman and had to intention of seeing her, again. Fate steps in and she tells him her secret, and I was expecting him to run, again. There is a HEA, but I didn't feel it. For what he did to Amy required some grovel. She took him back without question and that was a disappointment to me. Callie Stevens is one of my favorite authors, so I'm hoping this is a one off.

Dylan is in the band with Amy's brother Lucas when she falls for Dylan and he falls for her but things go terribly wrong when he realizes that with his ugly childhood where his parents constantly fought and ended up divorced he could not love her the way she should be loved so he broke her heart. Months later he finds he can not live without her and only hopes his friend will understand and that Amy will forgive him but he soon finds out she has kept a little secret from him. Will Amy and Dylan move from the hurt they each feel to find their HEA?.

Great Story
I loved the storyline and characters in this steamy contemporary romance. Dylan is a jaded rockstar with an abusive mother that has turned him against relationships and falling in love. Amy is much younger than him and his best friend Lucas’s innocent sister so very much forbidden territory even for a holiday fling. However, when they are thrown together at Lucas’s wedding their chemistry is off the charts and impossible to resist. Callie Stevens has done an exceptional job of writing an enjoyable clean rockstar romance with no drugs or cheating. Hope she writes about the other band members we met in this story.

This was a charming, disarming love story. Right from the start you are excited to see what would happen between these two people. A story of two hard working, enterprising people who did not quite dare to grab ahold of the love in front of them. Even at her tender age of 22 Amy was very mature and knew what she wanted out of life. Dylan was an abused child inside and scared to get hurt. At his age of 32 he was still running away from love and what he went through as a child. Amy teaches him love is worth any price. Great ending to this touching story, also.

Dylan and Amy . . .

Dylan, a rock star, met Amy as they were in the same vicinity for a wedding. He hadn’t seen Amy since she was 8 years old, so he didn’t recognize her. The two of them were attracted to each other and spent a passionate night together. Once they find out that they know each other, since she is the sister to his bandmate Lucas, they try to avoid each other. Will they be able to do that now? The scandal would be horrible if the fans found out. And then she finds out that she is pregnant! Will she tell Dylan? Or continue to avoid him and try to forget everything that happened between them?

A wonderful story, one where you can read with a blanket and a cup of tea. Amy and Dylan both go to a bar one night and meet there. They don't really recognize each other, until what outlines to their surprise the next day that she is his best friend's sister. The storyline and characters are wonderfully described and they both have nice characters. There is plenty of romance and also a bit of drama due to the fact that Dylan is still struggling with events from his past. This book is highly recommended and hope the author has more books that fit this volume.

Love, Love, Love Dylan and Amy!!!!

I loved Dylan and Amy, I can’t say it enough. Dylan is Amy’s brother’s best friend and band mate. This complicates their situation because of the dynamics. They kind of knew one another when Amy was little and when Dylan would visit, but because of their age gap, they didn’t really know one another. They hit it off while they are both unknowingly at Luc’s, Amy’s brother’s, wedding. From there the chemistry is ignited and the sparks fly!!! This story has depth, angst and fills the hearts of readers and we take this journey with the couple. I loved the book and couldn’t put it down! Callie Stevens has become a one click author for me.
