MIKE MAIHACK is the creator of the Cleopatra in Space graphic novels published by Scholastic/Graphix. The six-book series has earned him a Florida Book Award, a YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers selection, a starred review from School Library Journal, and a wealth of sharable knowledge about sequential storytelling. Cleopatra in Space was also produced as a children’s animated series by DreamWorks Television with episodes currently airing worldwide and on both NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock and HULU. Currently he is working on a series of Spider-Man young reader books in collaboration with Marvel and Abrams Books.

Нещодавно читав комікс «Людина-Павук і звіряча ватага» Майка Майгака разом із моїм сином перед сном, і це було справжнє задоволення! Чесно кажучи, рідко буває, щоб ми обидва реготали над одним і тим самим коміксом. Пригадую таке було із коміксами про Смурфів та манґою про кицю Чі. План був такий, що комікс розбиваємо на три вечори, але все пішло шкереберть і прочитали за один вечір.

Людина-Павук, уявіть собі, отримав місію не боротися зі злом, а… няньчити домашніх улюбленців Месників! Від рибки Залізноі людини до жаби Тора. Ця команда пухнастих (і не дуже) бешкетників не дасть спокою нікому, особливо Людині-Павуку. Але, як завжди, коли ти супергерой, навіть догляд за тваринками може обернутися катастрофою. І поки Месники борються зі злодієм у Центральному парку Нью Йорка, наш герой вчиться, що справжня відповідальність — це не лише метати павутину наліво-направо, а й знаходити спільну мову з хвостатими шибениками.

Малюнок Майка Майгака — це окремий привід для захоплення. Стиль яскравий, комічний, але водночас деталізований. Художник вдало передає емоції як людей, так і звірят, а кольорова гама додає ще більше драйву та енергії. Це саме той стиль, який тримає увагу дитини і змушує перечитувати знову й знову. Не повірите, що ми тепер читаємо щовечора.

Цей комікс приніс нам разом багато радості та сміху. Було цікаво бачити, як мій син захоплено стежить за пригодами супергероя. Сміється над кожною появою нового улюбленця. І ще, цей комікс, який не лише розважає, але й навчає відповідальності та співпраці. Але це вже прийшлося додатково пояснювати.

Якщо у вас є діти, племінники чи навіть ви самі фанат коміксів (я ж знаю, що є, адже підписані на ��ій канал), то «Людина-Павук і звіряча ватага» може спробувати вас повеселити. І так, мій син уже питає, коли буде продовження. Надіюся воно не забариться.

I've read a LOT of Spider Man that's suitable for kids, and this is my favorite so far. Much better than the little Multiverse primers, miles better than Little Golden. This is cute, clever, and fun.

J. Jonah Jamison is losing it over pigeons, and there's a villain in Central Park causing problems. Spider-Man keeps expecting to be asked to help fight the villain but is instead asked to watch out for an increasingly ridiculous number of superhero pets.

This was cute and light, very much written for kids but still appealing to me, an adult. There are occasional animals in danger, but none are harmed (even though things didn't look great for the goldfish for a while). There's definitely a goofy tinge to the story, as Nick Fury, for example, literally pokes his head out of a mailbox.

There's a dolphin talisman mentioned near the end with no info about whether it's a reference to something readers should already know and recognize or part of the set-up for a future volume. It turns out to be the latter, but there's no "to be continued" at the end of the volume to let you know this.

All in all, I liked this and wish some of the pets could have gotten more page-time.

Hilarious graphic novel, perfect for the kiddos. My youngest asked me to read this to him at bed time and we have been working our way through it. It was fun for the kiddos, and even more fun for me! Highly recommend as a nighttime book/graphic novel.

(Spider-Man: Animals Assemble! (A Mighty Marvel Team-Up): An Original Graphic Novel - Spider-Man: Animals Assemble! (A Mighty Marvel Team-Up): An Original Graphic Novel)! Το βιβλίο κυκλοφόρησε, προσφάτως, στη χώρα μας από τις εκδόσεις Anubis, σε μετάφραση του κυρίου Χρήστου Τσέλιου κι απευθύνεται σε παιδιά ηλικίας 8-12 ετών, μη σας πω και για εμάς τους/τις ενήλικες που αισθανόμαστε ακόμη αυτή τη ζωντάνια της νιότης.

Περιγραφή:

Η μεγάλη δύναμη φέρνει μαζί της και… πολλά κατοικίδια!

Όταν οι Εκδικητές ενώνονται για να σταματήσουν μια σούπερ απειλή στη Νέα Υόρκη, αναθέτουν στον Σπάιντερ-Μαν την πιο σημαντική δουλειά: να φροντίσει ώστε όλα τα κατοικίδια των Εκδικητών να παραμείνουν ασφαλή! Μα καθώς τα υπερκατοικίδια σκορπούν το χάος σε όλη την πόλη και ο κίνδυνος που ο αντιμετωπίζουν οι Εκδικητές μεγαλώνει, ο Σπάιντερ-Μαν θα καταλάβει πως έναν υπερήρωα δεν τον κάνουν μόνο οι υπερδυνάμεις του!

Ο συγγραφέας, εδώ, λειτουργεί κι ως εικονογράφος του βιβλίου. Με έναν λόγο ευθύ, οικείο, κατανοητό, κάποιες φορές ξεκαρδιστικό, μας προσφέρει μία ιστορία δράσης με μπόλικη δόση περιπέτειας, ευφυών γκαφών (ναι, καλά διαβάσατε), αστείες στιγμές και την ύπαρξη σκανταλιάρικων κατοικιδίων των υπερηρώων και των υπερηρωϊδων. Κατοικίδια φαινομενικά αθώα δίχως να μας θυμίζουν σε τίποτα τα αφεντικά τους, που όμως καταφέρνουν κι ανατρέπουν αυτό που μπορεί να έχουμε στο νου μας ως δεδομένο και αυτό από μόνο του δεν παύει να είναι μία πολύ ευχάριστη κι αναζωογονητική έκπληξη.

Ωραία θα μου πείτε όλα αυτά, μα προς τί όλος αυτός ο ενθουσιασμός μου; Ο συγγραφέας κάνει μία πολύ έξυπνη κίνηση. Παράλληλα με την τοποθέτηση του spiderman (σε νεαρή ηλικία - ταύτιση των παιδιών μαζί του!), χρησιμοποιεί ως δευτεραγωνιστές διάφορους αγαπημένους όπως είναι Εκδικητές, όπως είναι ο Κάπτεν Αμέρικα, ο Άιρον Μαν, ο Μαύρος Πάνθηρας και πολλοί άλλοι. Δημιουργεί, ουσιαστικά, έναν κόσμο γεμάτο φαντασία και πρόσωπα που τα μικρά παιδιά έχουν αγαπήσει μέσα από ανάλογα έργα. Αυτό είναι ένα στοιχείο που κάνει θελκτικό στα μάτια τους το βιβλίο.

Εξαιρετική και παραστατική εικονογράφηση, εύθυμοι διάλογοι, πειστικότητα ιστορίας μέσα σε όλη τη μυθοπλασία, μεστή πλοκή και ένα φινάλε ανάλογων των προσδοκιών μου, το βιβλίο μου άφησε πολύ όμορφες εντυπώσεις και θα ήθελα να διαβάσω κι επόμενα της σειράς - αν κι εφόσον υπάρξουν.

“I learned that with GREAT POWER comes an ability to do AWSOME flips!” explains Spider-Man to a local neighborhood New York pigeon as they perch on rooftop. As they both proceed to practice their aerial flips they overhear, through an open window, a loud rant emanating from a television broadcast. It’s newspaper publisher J. J. Jameson shouting about the menace that pigeons are causing in the city. But Jameson is quickly cut off by his interviewer who has breaking news: a SUPER VILLIAN is threatening Central Park!

But just before Spider-Man has a chance to swing off in the direction of the park, Iron Man swoops down asks him to pet-sit his goldfish. Then one by one each of the Avengers: Captain America, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Thor, Captain America, and Hawkeye, and the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Ant man, Wasp, Doctor Strange do the same with their pets, some small, some huge, poor Peter Parker has a whole menagerie to manage, and with Captain Marvel’s cat trying to eat Iron Man’s goldfish, and the rest of the pets running amok it becomes a tangled mess for the web-slinger. None of the pets will sit still long enough for him to sit with them! How’s he going to get out of this sticky situation?

Don’t worry true fans, Spider man and the pets will be able to do what the rest of the superheroes can’t. They’re going to out flip the menace in Central Park.

Maihack has penned a most delightfully comic comic book with plenty of action and adventure while instilling in young readers the virtues of great responsibility, teamwork, and superior flipping.

Spider-Man is hanging out with his friend Mark, the pigeon, when Iron-Man shows up saying he needs Spidey's help. Spider-Man is ready to leap into action, but Iron-Man needs him to watch his goldfish while he goes and deals with a situation in the city. One by one, more superheroes show up recruiting Spider-Man not to join the fight, but to watch their beloved pets. And as Spidey quickly learns, watching superhero pets is no walk in the park.

This was absolutely delightful. Not only do readers get to meet pets both familiar (Chewie, Tippy Toe, and Lockjaw) and new to the page (Hulk's pet axolotl anyone?) but they get a lot of entertainment watching Spidey try to wrangle them all and get himself some pizza. And the pets get a part of the action eventually. So much fun. I bought a copy of this for our Elementary library thinking it might be too juvenile for middle school, but I totally need to order a copy for middle school too. This is fun for any age.

Spider-man is left pet-sitting all the animal companions of the MCU as the heroes head off to battle a new threat in Central Park. Can he keep them all safe befoew the their superhero owners return?

While clearly aimed at younger Marvel fans this is a great little story that should delight fans of all ages. Ably illustrated and written by Mike Maihack, whose cutesy cartoony style fits perfectly with the tone of this tale. While mainly fitting the continuity of the Marvel films (Spider-man being portrayed as a young kid rather than his adult counterpart in mainstream comics) it does seem a bit odd that heroes of the same age or younger are offloading their pets onto the wall- crawler, but it does give an excuse for multiple cameos (who knew Dr Strange had a pet guinea pig?).

No sabía que necesitaba leer esto hasta que lo hice. ¡Qué cosa tan bonita! Los dibujos son de lo más tierno empezando por el tipo de textura que utilizaron para el dibujo y las expresiones salidas de un libro infantil -que es básicamente la idea y la esencia de este tomo-. Eso sin mencionar las adorables y particulares mascotas de los Avengers. ¿Thor con su rana Throg? Me encanta. Además ¡Hulk tiene un axolotl radioactivo!

Me da mucha ternura todo. Te amo, Spidey haciendo flips a diestra y siniestra mientras cuida a un bonche de animalitos muy únicos.

По време на декемврийския панаир на книгата, Artline Studios ни изненадаха приятно с редица вълнуващи комикси. Неочакваният хит сред тях беше „Спайдър-мен: Легендарни любимци“ от Майк Мейхак. Графичният роман с обем около 100 страници е насочен към по-младите читатели (нещо, което не виждаме често у нас що се отнася до супергеройския жанр) и излиза на български едва няколко месеца след премиерата си в САЩ. DC has tons of YA and middle grade original content. From Marvel, I've only been able to find reprints of monthly comics in a smaller format, so the text is too small to read. So I was happy to find this.

There's a supervillain rampaging through central park. So all of the superheroes ask Spider-Man if he can pet sit for them while they go off and fight. It's funny, but the joke gets old. New pets are still showing up 50% of the way through the book. Of course, Spider-Man does eventually get to Central Park to face the villain and the pets help give him the advantage he needs.

The art fits the story well.

Spider-Man bekommt zufällig mit, dass sich im Central Park ein Schurke herumtreibt und das ruft auch die Avengers auf den Plan... um Spider-Man als Tiersitter zu verpflichten, um besagten Schurken zu bekämpfen.
Dieser Comic hat viel Spaß gemacht beim Lesen und ist garantiert nicht nur für Kinder ein lustiges Lesevergnügen. Die Haustiere der Avengers waren durch die Reihe zuckersüß, der Lauf der Geschichte hält ausreichend die Spannung aufrecht – und Spidey war natürlich der perfekte Aufpasser für die possierlichen Tierchen.
