The Fire of the Dragon: China's New Cold War

Rate this book
Under President Xi Jinping, China's global ambitions have taken a dangerous new turn. Bullying and intimidation have replaced diplomacy, and trade, investment, even big-spending tourists and students have been weaponised. Beijing has strengthened its alliance with Vladimir Putin, supporting Russia's aggression in Ukraine, and brooks no criticism of its own flagrant human rights violations against the Uyghur population in western China. Western leaders say they don't want a cold war with China, but it's a little too late for that. Beijing is already waging a more complex, broader and more dangerous cold war than the old one with the Soviet Union. And it is intensifying. This thought-provoking and alarming book examines this new cold war's many fronts – from Taiwan and the South China Sea to the Indian frontier, the Arctic and cyberspace. In doing so it proclaims the clear and sobering message that we must open our eyes to the reality of China's rise and its ruthless bid for global dominance.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙣 by 𝙄𝙖𝙣 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙢𝙨
(China's new Cold War)
This book is by a British correspondent preoccupied with "𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮."

Most of the facts he highlighted vilified China, not to mention the US policy of containment. The US is struggling to keep up its hegemonic mentality. And Wary of the challenges posed by China. Most discussions revolve around Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, its defence, Human rights abuses and security Surveillance, etc.
You find the dubious claims of so-called West Human rights activists exposed badly by Israel's genocide of Gaza. West always benefits from democracy and human rights mantras are strategically suited to them. Their Hypocritical approach is well evident that the autocratic regime in the Middle East has good relationships with the US. Human rights abuses by Israel and genocide of Palestinians.
The Human Rights and democracy mantra are words of a bygone era. The self-interest of the state is a Pre-dominating factor. Blaming China for climate change, the author rightly forgets to mention President Trump's unilateral exit from the Paris Agreement.
Other than the critical view of this book, it will help you understand the assertiveness of China and its way of doing things. It enhances your knowledge of Taiwan's geography, political system, and the East China Sea conflict with Japan.
