“Bridges Between Us” is a friendly and graceful invitation to a conversation between Christians about the history, every day experiences, and relationships between Americans. Khori works from a base of recent history and scriptural motifs of oneness in Christ to demonstrate why it seems so common for us to misunderstand each other and how we can work from the values we share towards the oneness detailed in God’s plan for humanity.

Now, as a divide seems to threaten our nation and our church, this book and others of its kind are as essential as ever. Reading this book is a fantastic first step if you’re disturbed by what you see in the news but lack direction in how you might become a part of the solution to help facilitate healing. If you struggle to articulate to others the ideas and chain of events that led to our current social and political atmosphere, “Bridges Between Us” is a fantastic book to gift or recommend to another.

To say that "I learned a lot" from this book is really an understatement. Khori brings out many well-referenced,"small" historical facts (that I didn't know, or forgot long ago) to help illustrate the impact that slavery, and its aftermath, had on our past and continue to have on our present. Throughout, he maintains his focus on God's desire for us to share "oneness" as his people, supported by Biblical references. Most importantly, he provides questions for self-reflection or group discussion after each chapter and gives ideas for how we can take steps to become bridge builders. This book will have me thinking (and growing) for a long time.
