I never wanted to be an omega. Until them…

Yes, omegas are spoiled, cherished, and protected in the lavish academy orbiting Altaira. But that isn’t what I want. I crave the freedom promised to graduating betas, not the luxurious captivity I was taught to expect.

When my emergence is delayed, it feels like a rare stroke of luck. That is until my handsome handler assigns a pair of sexy-as-sin alphas to trigger my latent heat cycle. Ghost and Shadow are more than they appear, and they aren’t alone. They bring with them a fantasy straight from my dreams. An alpha from my past who's even more dangerous than the others.

As my instincts draw us together, dark secrets unfold, and I discover the Hive isn’t what it seems. The fate of the residents is far worse than I ever imagined, and to escape, I must accept a life I never thought I wanted.

This was a cool mix of omegaverse, SciFi, & dark romantic suspense. Alexi, Valyx & Axion infiltrate a colony holding Alphas, Betas, and Omegas as slaves specifically to find their stolen princess, Saphyra. Since she was abducted at a young age, Saphyra has few memories of her home planet and has been convinced they’re dreams.

I don’t want to spoil anything - there’s help from an unlikely source, finding where separated members of the group have gone, escape, and finding a safe harbor. All the while dealing with everyone’s reactions to Saphyra’s impending heat. I liked how Morrison balanced the primal nature with consent. It worked really well for me.

While this polyamorous group gets their HFN - this does end on a bit of a cliffhanger series wise. I’m definitely interested in reading the next book when it comes out.

CW (spoilers):
There’s some pretty heavy themes and intense situations in this one. Check out the authors CW at the beginning of the book. attempted rape of a main character, rape of secondary characters, slavery, murder, battle scenes, and more.

What a unique take on omegaverse tropes! This book takes the classic A/B/O staple of an omegaverse story and sends it out into space (literally). I love the combination of omegaverse and sci-fi.

Saphyra is wild and fierce at heart but she’s been conditioned to act as a placid omega prospect by some pretty horrifying tactics. She breaks the rules in small ways and doesn’t let the risk keep her from making friends or developing feelings.

The men around Saphyra are varying personalities with different strengths and flaws. I liked their connections to Saphyra, as well as to each other. I’m curious to see where things go as the series goes on.

The plot was very nicely paced, with a fair amount of action (of both the violent and the spicy kinds) throughout and it kept me turning the pages. This book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger per se, but there is definitely still more to the story. I’m excited to read more!

I need the next book right now!

The Hive was such a great novel holy smokes. The writing was flawless, very easy to read while being poetically descriptive 😍 I soared through this in only a few hours. I definitely know this is going to be a reread. All my questions about the plot had answers as it progressed. And what I love the most about this book is the ending. It is happy and doesn't end on a cliffhanger. It just sets up a seamless transition into the next book in the series.

The characters were unique in that they didn't all blur together and the drama was believable. The villains weren't over the top yet still caused a feeling of suspense. 10/10 story. And the setting was of a futuristic society on different planets, very sci-fi-y.

There is something about omegaverse that I just LOVE, but there is also one thing that can annoy me- I think it is the immediate instalust/love. But this book y'all...omg! It was perfect. It felt like the most natural alpha/beta/omega relationship I have ever read. It progressed so well, and the love/growth was woven in so beautifully that by the end I felt 100% invested in their relationship (and future). The heat 🥵the heat was brought, oh boy🌶️

I really can't find anything I didn't like about this book. I honestly cannot wait to read more by SC Morrison.

Stopped at the 26% mark. The book starts off in the middle of an action scene, which can be exciting if done right. In this case, it's kind of jarring and confusing because you have to piece the little bit of the story you have and try to figure out what the hell is going on. The story progresses at a pretty slow pace. I loved the idea of the bees' theme and hives, but it's never really explained or touched on. We get introduced to the 3 alpha, one of which, and coincidentally, the only one whose thoughts we are Privy too for the beginning is locked away separately. So the two men with are lead just come off as quiet and award. I think what I disliked most about the book is that everything felt forced. Saph knows things are off, not that she could do anything about it, but she just feels empty. She is so worried about her friend, which she learns is probably on her way to work the mines and become a slave and I feel like we get nothing from her. Her whole world is a lie, and she just takes her "punishment." It just feels so rape-ish there is no real consent. It all feels so forced because of the books location and implementation systems. Maybe if her guys talked or if we got their version quicker or if they tried to explain, but no, we get Handler Grey to explain that her whole life is a lie. Why are you there, Ax and Val, besides staring and brooding.

The book's length is average, yet it dragged for so long

By the time the overly hyped promised group sex happened I couldn't care less.

He smelled like home, like the faint memories of my childhood.

Omega prospect 1571 fears that something is off in The Hive, a station orbiting above the planet Altaira. On the day of her beta friend's reassignment, she notices the shuttles do not head the direction they should. However, she finds herself with bigger problems as her own emergence is under scrutiny and she is assigned two attractive alphas that have scents that stir long forgotten memories. With their arrival brings light of secrets that could destroy everything she has known if they are proven to be true.

+ Omegaverse
+ Sword-crossing
+ Why Choose?
+ Age Gap
+ Friends to Lovers
+ Memory Loss

The Hive is an original sci-fi style take on Omegaverses. The setup of The Hive and the ongoing war was unique and interesting and definitely piqued my interest from the first chapter. I loved the dystopian vibe it had with it, the eminent danger that lurked around every corner and that Omega prospect 1571 wasn't afraid to do what was needed regardless of the punishment hanging over her head.

Saphyra, Omega prospect 1571, has been sheltered on The Hive, but there have always been dream-like memories dancing just out of reach. I love that as opposed to an instantaneous love (my only complaint with Omegaverses), there was a connection to her memories/past and an organic transition to their relationships. I adored Ghost, Grey, Lex, and even Shadow grew on me. The tension was thick enough to cut with a butter knife and the build up made the pay off way more satisfying. And, boy, did it satisfy...

The ending was not a cliffhanger (thankfully, I don't think my heart could have handled that) and sets up a perfect transition into book two. And I was definitely happy with the outcome of the first book.

If you love Omegaverses and want an excellent Science Fiction take, pick up The Hive today!

Contains: Omegaverse, multiple partners, some MM, captivity, mentions of SA, violence, sci-fi, royalty

5 stars.

I devoured this book! I truly enjoyed following along with Saphyra as she came into her designation. The men that make up her pack are caring and tough and sexy. I'm always intrigued by stories with characters kidnapped and trapped within a compound - and this story handled that very well. It was easy to understand and follow the rules and layout of the compound and I was so eager for them to escape. The twists and turns kept me surprised and on edge, as did the rising sexual tension! Great characters, great world, and great writing. I can't wait for the sequel!

Received an ARC in exchange for a review.

Exceptional world and intriguing storyline

I could Not put this book down. The action and suspense was nonstop. The chemistry between the characters was electric. This world was something super unique and kept me glued to the pages. I truly can't wait to see what is waiting for Saphyra and the guys in the next book.

Kind of meh

This was a long long winded book about escape and smexy time

The start of the book was really good and I was really excited for where the book would go, but then it just kept dragging without much happening - a lot of the same things happening over and over in a slightly different explanation - many more questions left unanswered than I would like
The male characters kind of just melded together, and their individual temperaments seemed to loose consistency through the book - the FMC also felt a little empty in understanding her character, where there could have been really good transformation over time she went from being compliant to strong within a few pages

Overall enjoyable, but I would not recommend and towards the end of the book I was just flipping pages through the steam to find out the book conclusion
I will not read again

S.C. Morrison's debut RH novel, The Hive, was such an incredible way to start a series. The storyline is one that immediately grabs your attention and pulls you in and the characters are so easy to like, even the more stoic and grumpy Valyx. The multiple POVs really help you to see how different some of the characters are in comparison to how they are viewed by others and allow you to work around what is real and what is an act to keep them safe while completing their escape.

The fmc, Saphyra, is naive in a way, but solely because she is living the only life she knows, her memories just dreams at this point. Despite only knowing what she has been taught in the Hive, she is no fool. More observant than the other omegas or maybe just too stubborn to take everything at face value, she questions so many things about her life and the lives of the different designations when they are sent off planet. She follows her gut and her instincts lead her well in this book.

The guys, Axion (Ghost), Valyx (Shadow), Lex, and Grey all had different personalities yet balanced each other well. Having most of them know each other beforehand made the ease into sharing relatively easy, even if some say it wasn't. I liked that there were already established relationships, both as friends and more. Grey was the outlier compared to the other three, but whereas the other guys have a knowledge of each other, Grey had a better and closer relationship with Saphyra. There was a comfort between them, an easy and familiar bond. With Saphyra being thrown into a whole new situation as she emerges as an omega, with men that she may have known long ago but definitely didn't anymore, having Grey at her side was something she could rely on to be stable for her in a time when everything was changing for her.

The sci-fi omegaverse theme of this book was such an interesting concept. I loved the off planet compound idea. It seems like people would be able to get away with much more when being planets apart in comparison to countries. The further out of sight, the easier to manipulate the situation. This isn't the first omegaverse book I've read where the omegas are being used for false pretenses, essentially being groomed for a certain thing or being tricked into something they weren't prepared for, but I think this book had some really unique twists to it, making it so easy for the omegas to be fooled into thinking that they are something precious, something to be cherished. Things are not what they seem. The idea of safety was an illusion, just lies to keep the omegas in line until they were ready to be used to their fullest potential and then tossed aside when no longer useful.

Definitely pick this book up if you're a fan of a slower burn, yet full of tension, kind of omegaverse. I promise you'll love it. The gripping storyline is full of mystery, secrets, tension, deceit, and romance to keep you reading until the early hours of the day.

I loved that ending, wow! It brought such a sense of happiness and relief and I'm so glad it was not one of those typical cliffhangers that a lot of RH series are doing recently.

This was a such a unique take on the many contemporary and paranormal omegaverse out there. Sci-fi and space-opera blend with omegaverse to give us this unique story and it brought back my original love of scifi fantasy when I fell in love with that genre in middle school.

All the characters were lovable and I enjoyed reading about all of them.

Cannot wait for book 2 and what other adventures are in store for Saphyra and her men. Seems like there'll be lots to resolve on their home planet, Verden, now that she's returned. This was an amazing debut novel by S.C. Morrison and I'm looking forward to her future works.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by the author.

The Hive was a thrilling read! It is a darker science fiction reverse harem omegaverse that kept me enthralled throughout – If I hadn’t fallen asleep mid-sentence around 1 am, I would have stayed up all night to finish it.

The Hive itself is a space station/school that trains members of each designation type to perform their specific designation’s duties, sending most of the betas off station to work jobs on the planet, keeping alphas aboard to act as soldiers, and omegas remain aboard to reproduce in safety, luxury, and comfort. Yet there is something not right with this school. Its aims are not as innocent as they seem.

What made this book such a standout was how S.C. Morrison joined one of my favorite genres, science fiction, with one of my favorite tropes, omegaverse. I loved the number designations instead of names for most of the characters, as only special Hive members were allowed real names. I loved the story – omega prospects who are taking too long to emerge are given alpha decoys to help spike their heats, and they are checked daily by handlers to monitor progress to that awakening.

I really liked the relationship build-up between the FMC and each of the MMCs. I loved the sexual tension. The anticipation increased the pleasure, author edging, as it were.

Some darker elements are contained in the story, so check TW before reading.

I really liked the premise and the characters. It’s an intriguing world and I really enjoyed it. The last couple chapters felt a bit hurried to me though, and we got a lot of info in those.

I love omegaverse but for me that aspect wasn’t the best here. I’d expected the heat to be more pressing, and it almost seemed like they could press pause on it here when it didn’t fit their escape plans 😆 I was especially sad because the knot was an ‘in and out’ knot, which kind of defeats it’s purpose. I love it when they’re stuck together for like 15 minutes, and here it was more like 15 seconds. The purring and the scenting was on point though.

I was pleasantly surprised with how invested I became the further I read. Saphyra has been raised in The Hive as an Omega Prospect and is incredibly unhappy with the way her life seems to be headed, even more so when she begins to get suspicious of where those with assignments are truly going when they leave the hive. Her main constant has been her handler, Grey, until it’s decided she needs to fully become an Omega. She’s then assigned decoys to help trigger her heat, but they smell and say things that remind her of her dreams - is it coincidence or is something very wrong? The spice was on point and the relationship building, chemistry, & connections are great too. I can’t wait for the next to see what the Stars show, what can be done in Verden, and how those enslaved by The Hive may be helped. Loved it!

This book sucked me in. I just couldn’t stop reading. (I read like 3 chapters during lunch at work and then I possibly proceeded to continue read the next 6 while half heatedly working).

I feel like I have read a lot of omegaverse and felt like this book felt really unique while still holding familiarity to all the things I love and want to see in my omegaverse books.

This book has a lot of action in both ways that could be taken.

Truly a five star read and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Loved, loved, LOVED this twist on omegaverse. It is a darker sci-fi l, RH, omegaverse. I loved reading about Saphyra and her being stuck at The Hive. The alphas and beta were fantastic characters and were all sweet to her in their own ways. I particularly loved Saphyra’s and the beta’s relationship though. Can’t wait to read more in this series!

Wow, this book was amazing! The whole world building is incredible, SC Morrison does a wonderful job describing the world and it really brings it to life. The story was steamy without losing any of the plot. I could not put it down, I was so drawn into the story, needing to know what happens next. I am dying for book 2! I 100% recommend this book!

This book is really well written, since it’s the first book in the series We are still learning quite a bit about the environment and everything but it starts coming together as the characters progress. This is a slower burn book. The MFC is a mixture of strong and vulnerable; I love that she stands her ground with the men and tells them how it will be at times. I look forward to the next book!

The Hive by S.C. Morrison is the first in the Omega Bloodlines series. We meet Saphyra, an Omega that is living on The Hive. This is a sorting type place, waiting for people to come into their designations. Apparently Saphyra was stolen from her home planet when she was young and living on The Hive is all she really remembers except for little memories that pop up. We meet Alexi, Ghost, Shadow, and Grey. Lots of action, lots of fighting (physical) to get Saphyra free. No bullying. No cheating. HEA. Looking forward to more in this world. I would love to learn 6667's story. I would love to see what happened to Lyrah.

This is the debut book and series by SC Morrison and did she ever come out of the gate full speed. If you like sci-fi and omegaverse you need to pick this book up. It is a spectalur melding of the two genre's. I have read sci-fi omegaverse but nothing quite like this. The world building, character development and banter all worked. I thought I knew what I was reading but nope. I got a few surprises along the way and before I was ready, I was at the end of the book...trying to find more pages that weren't there. Ready and waiting for book two!

Sci-fi Omegaverse, fantastic world building, compelling characters, engaging complex plot, imaginative well written story, this book had all of this and more!! I did start to read this on kindle vella and was pulled into the story quickly but I am too impatient to wait for new chapters so I am beyond thrilled this came out in book form, it is so darn good. I absolutely adored all of Saphyra's men, holy cow are they one hot group of guys! I am very much looking forward to more of this world and these characters.

🥵 Holy Toledo this book was fire!

“Everybody dies eventually, love. It’s how you choose to live that matters.”

Living for Saphyra includes 3 alphas and 1 beta! Each lover is completely different she really gets the best from every direction!

This book was a mix of sci-fi and omega-verse with a pinch of thriller - - ending on a HFN bit of a hanger. As much as it drove me crazy it was worth it. With so many questions left unanswered of course I must read book 2!!

It has several tropes and k!nks so read the warnings and prepare accordingly. I found them deliriously delicious!

The effort put into this amazing world and concepts surrounding it was refreshing and unique. SC is creative and I could clearly visualized everything through out the book.
