Julie Trettel is a USA Today Bestselling Author of Paranormal Romance. She comes from a long line of story tellers. Writing has always been a stress reliever and escape for her to manage the crazy demands of juggling time and schedules between work and an active family of six. In her “free time,” she enjoys traveling, reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.
She's clueless and scared for no good reason and he's a macho horn dog who's a bit too controlling for my taste. I had to stop when he told her to change cause he didn't want her clothes to give his friends any ideas.
This is after they both acknowledge that they are true mates and she tries to sneak out of the house and run away from him (why!?) and he tries to protect her when she's doing HER JOB.
I liked that they both were waiting for their true mate and didn't date around... but that's about it.
Wow, another amazing book from Julie Trettel’s Westin World which isn’t surprising as I’ve read all the books/series multiples times. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. All I can say is that Clay surprised me a lot, especially when he got all protective and possessive where his true mate Winnie is concerned. Clay’s friends and the rest of the six pack, call him old man as he has a set routine, on working, coming home and then watching his tv programmes at night before going to bed early, then he repeats it all the next day. He’s also stopped dating as he saw what happened and that Sydney got pushed aside when Thomas met Lily his true mate, which is what should happen but he would hate to put someone through that as he would settle down with no one other than his mate. His friend and alpha Thomas sends him, along with ranch workers Cruz and Brady to Omaha to an auction to get more cattle so they can expand again. Clay really isn’t happy but he goes along. Clay plans to leave as soon as he’s brought the cattle but then he finds out that Thomas has booked them for two nights which he’s really not happy about, but then he softens when he hears that Cruz and Brady have never been anywhere as they used to be Larken Wolves, which lived in a rundown trailer park from the wrong side of the tracks.
Winnie is from a pack of wolf shifters, that form part of their travelling Carnaval. They have absolutely no land to run on so they haven’t shifted much. Dean the alpha is trying to persuade Winnie to mate with her cousin and have babies so they can grow the pack. Winnie’s parents are true mates so she wants to find him even if chances are slimmer than none. She knows that she has to leave as Dean really isn’t taking her rebuttal well. The pack has limited numbers so there’s a lot of mating between relatives and it’s starting to show. Her parents see her pack a bag and wish her luck, they give her a cellphone to keep in touch when she settles down. Winnie has never really felt like she belongs in the Carnaval. Her wolf has always felt like an outsider. Little did Clay and Winnie know that, that weekend is going to change their lives. Clay sees red when he spots his true mate being touched by another male, and it’s obvious Winnie is trying to escape. After Clay punches the guy that was trying to stop Winnie, he follows her as she starts to leave. Clay takes Winnie to his hotel to talk. Clay tells her that she’s his true mate. Even though Winnie’s wolf tells her that he’s her mate since she hasn’t shifted much there’s a bit of a disconnect within her. Cruz and Brady show up at Clay’s door frantic saying that Winnie’s pack are looking for her. He invites them in and then tells them that she’s his true mate.
Winnie agrees to go with Clay and see how things go, since she really has no plan other than leave the pack as there’s no way in hell is she mating her cousin and having pups just to increase the pack numbers. Winnie completely freaks out when she finds out that Clay is from Collier, as she was told to always avoid large packs. Even though both Clay, and his best friend and alpha Thomas welcome her to the pack she completely freaks out and jumps out the bathroom window. Lol I loved this part as she’s caught by none other than Collier’s pack mother Lily. I thought Clay and Winnie were amazing together and their chemistry is completely off the charts, as well as hot as hell. I loved how Winnie and Clay’s relationship progressed. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series. It’s James’s turn next and I’ve already pre-ordered his book His Chosen Mate which is released in February 2023. After all the sh*t that Austin and Emmett gave Clay, and about not becoming whipped by their mates. I think they’re going fall the hardest but only time will tell. I’m hoping that Cruz and Brady get a chance to find their true mates but I think they have a bit more growing to do first since they haven’t experienced much growing up in Larken. I’d happily read as many books from this world, and I hope Julie keeps writing them. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, Westin World books and author to everyone.
Collier pack is my favourite so it’s exciting to be heading back there. I love the closeness the Six Pack shares even with busy lives. It was good to see both Clay and Winnie grow and find themselves more. Brady was hilarious and I really hope we get a book for him soon. The teasers for James book are interesting and I can’t wait to get into that one.
What can I say about this book? First, it had all the growly goodness a girl could want, Clay is so growly, and I love it. Plus, Thomas and Lily were back, and Lily is always fun. She was on point in this one! And we got to see Thomas being an Alpha, and he was terrific. Clay and Winnie were fantastic. They were hot and still managed to give me warm fuzzies at their coupling. I can't wait until the next installment of the 6-pack.
I started following this author because she posted on another author's page. So glad. As many books I have read of hers (and I think I have almost completely finished all of her books) they are always so different.
Clay sweet Clay. Level headed, cow loving, rancher. Meets Winnie. Wow. Talk about a protective rough side! Don't mess with him! His true mate. Oh yeah she can keep up. Don't want to put to much down to give anything away. Let's just say Clay needed his rough side.
Can't wait to see how the other stories go, still amazed how different the stories are. You think they will be the same. But no. You get into a deeper character you didn't know and then you get intrigued to know more.
In saying that. Brady and Cruz are not technically a six pack. But we need to know their story as well. I can't wait to hear Brady's take on his childhood and who he falls for. He needs to be a little harassed for his behavior (comical but payback for sure is needed 😆😆).
H-Clay h-Winnie We have a responsible shifter who is best friends with the Alpha(Thomas Callier-something like that) who is co-owner of a dairy bar and was looking for more cows. He meets Winnie who is at a travel rodeo with her family and her Alpha was forcing her to mate her cousin in order to have pups. She was not having that. Being raised by her true mates parents she wanted that. The day she was planning on running away she met Clay (her true mate) he knew immediately but didn't push or rush her. Since she was running away he decided to take her with her to his pack. The story was really nice and somewhat predictable but sweet. I do like them both. Very strange that this is the 1st book of this series and then the next book is Thomas and Lily (who are the alpha and alpha mother) . I would think they would be 1st.. But I can't wait to read that story.
What can I say but yet another amazing book by Julie Trettel.
I love all her shifter books but was very excited to start this new series and Julie did not miss the beat yet again.
I loved the small introduction to Clay in the Collier Pack books, along with the rest of the six pack. But in this book, and I am sure the rest of the series , we are given a much better look at these characters.
Clay's character is such a sweet yet strong wolf and Winnie is just they type of mate he needs, perfect in every way. She just fit with Clay like a glove, which we always get with Juiles true mate's, I just love the way Julie is able to pair characters together perfectly.
I can't wait to see where this series takes us and am already on the count down for book 2 of the six pack series.

His True Mate is Julie Trettel's first book in her Six Pack Series but it is a return to Collier. It is a standalone romance but has intermingled characters.
This is the story of Clay the most mild mannered of the group of friends called the six pack and Winnie his rodeo riding mate. I'd definitely consider this a He Falls First romance and mild mannered Clay becomes growly Alpha Clay, Winnie is all-in and their's is a low angst love story where we really get to enjoy their relationship journey.
Definitely laugh out loud moments on both sides and a totally fun read. I can't wait to see more of Winnie and Clay as the series progresses, they managed to burrow their way into your heart very quickly.
This is another 5 star read for me from Author Julie Trettel.
Oh my goodness, Julie has created another hot new series. His True Mate was book 1 in the Six Pack Shifters Series. It is absolutely awesome. The six pack was introduced in the book Can't Be Love. I have looked forward to learning more about these awesome guys. This book was about Clay and Winnie's story was such a good story. Clay is such a laid back kind of guy that lives a very quiet lifestyle. Winnie had grown up in a carnival so her lifestyle was never really having a home. They definitely fit each other very well. Also we got to see and learn more about Brady and Cruz more in this book, and I really like them. And of course Lily and her girls and their Thursday night gathering was hilarious! If you didn't pre order, then you need to definitely get this book. It was awesome.
OMG! I don’t know how she does it, but each new story tops the previous 5 star book!.. “His True Mate” is the 1st amazing new page-turner in the fantastic, brand new, spin-off series, ‘Six Pack Shifters’ but still within the same world of all her previous shifter must reads! ... It grabbed me from the start & I could not put it down until I reached the HEA! ... With a fresh, new, storyline & always relatable characters, both new and old friends! Add in the clever dialogue, awesome descriptions with surprise twists & turns that will keep readers turning pages like crazy! I honestly recommend this to all adult 18+ fans of fiction & again, I can't wait for more, but of course I always will!
You’re instantly back in Collier Pack world with Clay of the six-pack forced out of his normal rut by being assigned to purchase new cows at the auction near a travelling circus sheltering a shifter pack. Horse performing wolf Winnie’s alpha is trying to force a mating for her, Winnie’s having none of it and makes plans to run away from the circus.
Unable to stomach the circus, Clay’s a bystander when he sees Winnie and he’s unclear why he’s reacting to her. Having grown up only knowing who/what she learned in her small pack, Winnie’s really confused with what’s happening inside but Clay seems nice and safe enough. Fish out of water, Winnie loves her new world but a courtesy call to her old alpha isn’t a good thing. Rating: 4.25stars
I have read all of Julie Trettel’s books. This is something I do with very few authors because I tend to get bored easily. The thing about Julie’s books is that every single story is unique. I seriously don’t know how she is able to keep her stories new and fresh, but with her books I read them from beginning to end with no skimming in-between. His True Mate does not disappoint. I enjoyed learning more about members of the Six Pack. They have been mentioned in several books, but this one allows for more character depth. I also liked seeing Thomas in more of an Alpha role as he always seemed to be more in the foreground.
Another great shifter romance, and it’s nice to see the six pack getting their stories. Clay is a quiet, meticulous guy, who loves his work, and doesn’t have time for anything else, he likes routine but when that gets side tracked everything changes. Winnie is sick of her life, working at the rodeo is not the life she wanted, especially when the alpha tries to mate her to her cousin. So when she comes face to face with her true mate will she accept it or run? Nice story and plot, great characters, love these shifters. Hot love scenes, great banter, some angst, but overall a very nice shifter read.
We’ve heard about the 6 pack since we met Thomas. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book after finishing the Westin Force and ARK series. What could be different about the plot from the others? I should have trusted one of the best PNR writers out there to deliver an A++ story. I highly recommend this book. It works as a stand alone, but having read all of the previous books felt a little like checking up on old friends. The inside jokes are easy to discern from context, but having read the others and know the details adds an extra layer. Be sure to read all her books! Looking forward to the second in this series!
I have been waiting for this book for what feels like forever and it did not disappoint! Clay will have you taking a cold shower every other chapter! Winnie is a confident rodeo entertainer. Her Alpha wants her to mate in the pack and that's a big NO for her so she will have to leave. Clay is one of the Six Pack. Being friends with the Alpha is great unless he makes you go on a road trip for business. Crossing paths was fate. What happens after is as messy and entertaining as everyother mating!

I had been in a bit of a book slump and then I realized it was release day for His True Mate. Julie Trettel to the rescue. I sat down and devoured His True Mate. It had everything I have come to know and expect from Ms. Trettel - dynamic characters, compelling storyline, and passionate romance. This world she has created is home to me. And that joyful feeling whenever you come back home? Well that is how I feel when I read Ms. Trettel's books. Another amazing book by a very talented author.
Winnie is a wolf shifter who is part of a rodeo clan. She loves her life but longs for a home base with a house maybe a fence. Her Alpha Dane is trying to force her to mate with his choice. Winnie is opposed and hatching a plan to escape. Winnie wants to find her forever mate. Clay is one of the six BFFs in his clan. He is reserved but steady and dependable. His Alpha Thomas wants him to get out more often and enjoy some fun. So Thomas sends Clay to buy some more livestock and to enjoy a carnival and rodeo. Read On!
What a beginning to a new series! Clay is a laid back kind of guy, but when he meets Winnie he's an overprotective and possessive alpha male. Winnie is looking for a quiet life with roots, she's not used to the pack lifestyle so there are a few hiccups for our new couple that they overcome together. We're introduced to a new pack and we get to know more about the members of the six pack!
If you like growly possessive men then Clay is gonna have you hooked from page 1! This is a standalone but if you want to see more of Clay and the six pack you should start with Can't Be Love book 5 of the Westin Pack series.
Clay and Winnie’s story is fantastic and sweet. They are both different and compliment each other. Adding the rodeo and some well loved characters and you have an amazingly enjoyable and cute story with lots of laughs. Love the characters and Collier pack. Very funny and a fabulous start to the Six Pack series. Loved the settings and the storytelling is perfect. So loving the new and fresh vibe to the series.
It was so nice to be back in Collier and see how another of the infamous six pack finds and claims his mate. Julie Trettel creates such a rich and detailed story that I find myself immersed in the story. It was wonderful seeing some of my favorite characters as well. Clay and Winnie’s story is wonderful and like all of Julie’s books unique and original. Thank you Julie Trettel for sharing your world with us.
This is the first in the new six pack shifter series. It was fantastic! Loved reading more about Clay and his mating growliness. Winnie was definitely a good match for him. I enjoyed the humour throughout this beautifully weaved romance, it had me laughing at some of the situations. Another fabulous addition to the wonderful world created by Julie Trettel. Do yourself a favour and grab a copy now. You won't be disappointed!
These two are just precious! She is a brave girl that overcomes a cult like family but knows that there is more out there for her. He is a homebody that needs to spread his wings. They make each other become better versions of themselves and choose to let fate decide what is best. The way their pack stands up for them proves they are a true family not just pack. Love these wolves and can't wait to see what happens next.
I love being back to Collier with Clay and Winnie! I am sure I am not the only one who has wanted to see the guys from the "six pack" find their mates and this introduction with Clay was great!
Same quality writing, same great world, same winning recipe and same pleasure to read/ listen, but with more spice than the Westin and even the Collier series, which is great!
I usually love Julie's books, but I think the fact I work with horses took me out of this one. The mannerisms she gave the horse just weren't consistent with equine behavior and the way the breaking process was handled and terms used continuously had me getting frustrated enough to distract me. I'm hoping the next ones will not talk about horses all that much because it's obvious she didn't do much research.
There are so many words that I can use for this book it was definitely a wild ride! Clay and Winnie have become my favorite couple out of the entire Westin series and I have read every book that Julie is ever written multiple times and they have somehow become my absolute favorite! To go along with that I do have to say that the circus aspect was very interesting to me.
100% recommended! This was a great book to kick off the newest storyline in Julie Trettel's shifter world. Clay and Winny's story grabs you right from the beginning and takes you on a wild ride. One growly male, a sassy independent female, and lots of sparks! I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
I liked this book a lot. Winnie and Clay were so cute together even while finding their way with their new relationship. My favorite parts of this book involved the side characters showing their support and love for Clay and their acceptance of Winnie. I can’t wait to read more about the Six Pack
I can not recommend Julie Trettel enough! The world that she has built has remained my favorite shifter world. Collier pack is back and we get bits of everyone of our loved characters. So excited to continue on and read more as the stories come to us. Nothing beats a True Mate story, Clay and Winnie do not disappoint.
Julie does it again with her brand new series. I love that we're able to further explore her world and get to know well loved characters further. His true mate showed the stoic Clays romantic side while highlighting the trials of a mating male. Winnie is his perfect fit and it was a pleasure having there story unfold.
I really liked Clay and Winnie. Clay different from his friends leads a quiet life until he doesn’t. Here comes Winnie that has enough with traveling show. She is craving something new, exciting and where her wolf can run free. They both want what their parents and friends have. Can’t wait for the next book.
