Her goals are to make her readers feel seen/understood and to prove that poetry is not a dead language. Aside from her own author career, she uses her university degrees and 14 years of experience teaching English to work as a freelance editor. Poets who are publishing books of their own hire her to edit and proofread their manuscripts.
Her latest release, "Iron & Velvet" (2023) quickly joined the ranks of "Surrender" (2022), "Shades of Ruin" (2022), and "Burn" (2021) as #1 bestsellers on Amazon. She also wrote "Cosmosis" and "Homecoming" back in 2020.
Authored Works:
Her debut book, "Cosmosis", a poetic journey through love/heartbreak, was released on 4/26/20. This book is a missions project where royalties are donated to anti-racism causes and organizations, such as Black Girls Code, The Loveland Foundation, and the NAACP.

"Burn", her third book, was released on 4/18/21, and became a #1 New Release. "Burn" is bold, fiery, passionate, and powerful in its poetic journey through the multitudes of life, self, and love. Most of the book's poetry uses fire metaphors, imagery, and/or allusions. Stef cites "Burn" as the book that "put her on the map" as a modern poet.
"Shades of Ruin" was released on 1/11/22, debuting as a #1 New Release in numerous categories and quickly becoming a #1 bestseller. This short collection of poems is an emotional powerhouse, more of a continuously-moving story arc than an anthology, and reads like a poetic novella. It follows a love story from the initial collision all the way up through the letting go. The writing is raw, brutal, honest, passionate, and magnificently crafted.
"Surrender" (Stefanie's personal favorite of her published works) was released on 8/12/22, her 37th birthday. It began its life as #1 New Release in 6 Amazon categories and went on to hit #1 bestseller rankings numerous times, It has surpassed "Burn" as her #1 selling book. Amazing book! So different from a lot of very repetitive poetry books! Stefanie has such a way with words I don’t have a way to explain it properly. I would definitely recommend this book to any of my lgbtq+ gals <3
Here’s a few quotes:
“What I can tell you is that every day brings the slightest bit of change. With each new sunrise, you put a little more distance between yourself and all the tears vou've cried. Every breath you take moves you further away from all the pain you're afraid you will never escape. But you will, and it will get better someday.”
“At the end of the day, we are nothing but broken skin and tired bones, and rushing blood just hoping we're enough.”
In Surrender, Stefanie Briar takes the reader on a journey with her as she speaks with beauty, power and great insight on healing and gives the reader ways we can begin or continue our own healing journey. I felt so connected to the power of her words that I was in tears, but tears of healing and letting go. I found the section on “Change” so important as we cannot heal and grow without it. The section “Love” helps others fell that if they work on healing and changing they will not have to search for or force love. Briar’s love poems are so beautiful that they show that it does not matter the gender of the person you love, for love truly is love. I appreciate her bravery in speaking her truth to help inspire and empower others who are still in earlier phases, whether it be that they are lost, or have yet to embark on a healing path. Grateful to read this transformative book so eloquently written. Perhaps one of the greatest lines for me, and where I am on my own journey, “You cannot love someone into choosing you.” Thank you Stefanie for your words and your light. I wanted to read more poetry this year, and TikTok sent me this way. I have to say, the poetry is beautiful, undeniably. I do feel like a lot of the poems dealing with losing someone romantically was really hard for me to vibe with, since that's not something I've experienced--or haven't experienced in a way that I felt personally affected me in such as way as the poet felt it. That being said, some other subjects in here I felt very personally, and it was beautiful to read. I would still highly recommend this collection, if for no other reason than to remind ourselves that contemporary poetry is worth a read as well.
The ebb and flow of this book was enough to invoke memories I've long buried. There were passages that were able to describe experiences I had not been able to explain to others, and I have felt the same emotions throughout my years. I loved it. I'll be getting a paper copy as well.
I really enjoyed reading this book. There were quite a few pages where I just stopped, because it hit way to close to home, but in a way I have never read/heard about before, but in a good way. Thank you, for this book.
This is one of the deepest feel books I have ever read and loved every bit of it! If you're ready to dive deep inside your own mind, body, soul, and heart - Surrender to Surrender. I'm glad I did.
BEST POETRY BOOK ABOUT HEALING, GROWTH, and LOVE 💚 I really enjoyed this book for multiple reasons, but ultimately it was beautifully written and organized.
The only reason I gave this book 3 ⭐️’s was simply because there was a lot that I couldn’t really relate to! Still a great read but wasn’t relatable enough.
