BRIAN CHRISTOPHER SHEA has spent most of his adult life in service to his country and local community. He honorably served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. In his civilian life, he reached the rank of Detective and accrued ten years of law enforcement experience between Texas and Connecticut. Somewhere in the mix he spent five years as a fifth-grade school teacher. Brian’s myriad of life experience is woven into the tapestry of each character’s design. He resides in New England and is blessed with an amazing wife and three beautiful daughters.

Writing has always been a dream, but life seemed to find a way of interrupting. It wasn’t until recently that he dedicated time to this passion. His first book, The Camel’s Back, gave him a much-needed mental break from his work investigating atrocities against children. He allotted time in the morning each day. Usually waking at 5 to bang away on his manuscript. The second round of daily writing would occur after his children were asleep. He proved that working full-time and raising a family were no longer valid excuses to putting off his novel.

Hunting the Mirror Man, by Brian Shea & Ty Hutchinson. Oh my gosh Gray, Gaston, Patton and Sparks where freaking amazing in this mind blowing thriller. Let’s start off by saying that the book cover is totally awesome. I so did not connect the two from the title until the second part of the book. I loved all the characters story even the subjects that Gray and his partners were chasing.
I totally did not see how this book was ending. For me the background story and the plot of the story was very fresh and entertaining for a thriller book. The story was very detailed these details pertained to the importance of the story. From those details the writer wanted their readers to have a good visualization of the story in their mind, as well as gain some type of connection to the book for more of a fulfilled enjoyment. For me, the writer did an excellent job of keeping the dialogue on track with the characters.
I thought the dialogue supplied legitimate and factual information that helped me, the reader notice some of the reality to the book. I liked how Gray handled himself in the book. He didn’t come in like he was a hero riding to save the day. I also liked that he didn’t come in trying to take over the investigations. Opting to gain the respect of his piers was a smart decision to make before supplying your inputs.
I will admit one thing about Grays’s character that I would like to see added, maybe Gray could learn martial arts of any form. When our profiler gets caught without a gun he needs backup. I will not forget this phrase, “First one to five gets it all.”Clearly the writer is trying to tell you something. I’m trying to understand something.
How can you have two serial killers on different sides of the continent committing the same crime at the same time. Am I missing something here? Is there a serial killers cult thing happening, because if there is all I ask is that the killer give me enough time to pack my things, hitch a plane ride headed for destination unknown. (Like I would tell the killer where I’m going). For what its worth, I loved this book and I eagerly look forward to reading more books from this series.
I recommend this book with two snaps and a, twist. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!

Murders in London are eerily similar to those committed in Ames, Iowa. FBI agent and profiler, Sterling Gray, helped solve the Iowa murders so the Metropolitan Police, aka Scotland Yard, ask his help with their baffling crimes. It's Ames, Iowa all over again. The situations are intense. The characters are riveting. The story is shocking. This is one of those books that keep you enthralled from beginning to end. Very Highly Recommended.

I recently read Hunting the Mirror Man and really enjoyed it, I’ve included my original review after this introduction based on listening to the review copy of the audio book I received from the publisher. Listening to Jonathan Beville’s narration held me spellbound, his ability to bring all the characters to life through a variety of voices made it much mor an experience than had he just read it.

This first installment in the new Sterling Gray series by Brian Shea and Ty Hutchinson is an action-packed roller-coaster ride. It was interesting to see how the authors developed Sterling’s backstory as they moved the serial killer story along in an unpredictable fashion. While Sterling is an accomplished Profiler, he has the unenviable tendency to get on the wrong side of his FBI Supervisor, not to mention tank his personal life. If this book is any predictor of this series, I’m looking forward to the next episode to see how Sterling succeeds or not in the previously mentioned areas. I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and chose to provide my review.

This was a great start to a new series! I thought it was very easy to read - so easy to binge in a couple of sittings. The killers were wonderfully creepy; I really liked the reveals about them & their methods - they had me eagerly turning the pages to see what was going to happen next! With Agent Stirling Gray being an FBI profiler, it does give off Criminal Minds vibes, so if you like the show, I think you will like this book. I'm looking forward to the next in the series!

I received this book through "NetGalley" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is a start of a new series and if this book is an indication of what it will be like, then it is a definite winner.

The story begins with FBI Agent Sterling Shea of the BAU group traveling to Iowa to assist with a potential serial killer. He is brought to the college town where the killings have been discovered. Follow Agent Shea and the members of the Ames Police department as they search for the killer. Agent Shea has developed a profile and also was able to come up with how the killer was selecting his victims. See how it gets resolved in the end.

After completion of the Iowa case, Agent Shea is back at his office where he receives a new assignment to help Interpol and the London Police find a serial kkiller. Once he arrived there and met the team, they began their hunt for any evidence that might have been left behind. What they learned was very little and it all came together due to one of the members of the teams relationship. Learn what broke the case wide open and how they were able to attract the killers attention. Read about the confrentation where it all got resolved. Find out what similarities the two cases had.

This is definitely a book that needs to be read.

This is a hard book to review due to trying to review without spoilers. Gray is on the search for a serial killer which leads him from America to London . This book was really good. It had enough mystery to keep me intrigued and Gray is a very likable character. I look forward to the next book in the series and hoping it's just as good.

Thank you to NetGalley and Severn River Publishing for the ARC of this book!

Agent Sterling Gray is an FBI profiler in the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). He gets called to a case in Iowa where girls are going missing and then showing up dead. The clock is ticking, as the killer only keeps the girls alive for 3 days. Interpol then contacts Gray, and asks for his help on a similar case in London. Gray goes to London to help solve this case. That’s when things get turned upside down. Gray has to now get inside the killer’s mind in order to find out who he is and how to find him. Only, the killer has eyes on Gray.

This was an absolutely fantastic book. It had everything that I wanted from it and more. It started out extremely creepy, kept me engaged, and it was gripping. There are twists, shocks, and reveals that I never saw coming.

I loved that there was a dual story line, and it was really pushed forward with a lot of dialogue. The authors did an excellent job with the police procedural aspect of it, as well as being able to convey how Agent Gray came about his profile. I really liked seeing his process.

I don’t even know what the next book is about in this series, but I already want to read it.

Ty Hutchinson and Brian Shea have anew series of just OUTRIGHT Classic Writing! The first in a Series of Collaboration between these two Authors is a GRAND SLAM HIT!!!
HUNTING THE MIRROR MAN IS just that, a GRAND SLAM of twists, turns and the roller coaster of events will leave you turning the next page in insatiable interest!
Our central character Sterling Gray is an FBI Profiler, coming off a huge case and is sent to solve Murders in Ames Iowa. From there he is sent to England to aid the Metropolitan Police. Known worldwide as Scotland Yard, in conjunction with Interpol, as Sterling is asked his help with their case. All of whom yet to realize how reminiscent of the case at he just concluded in IOWA. Begs the question: no, it cannot be so! Could it?
The premise is a shocker, if this does not whet your appetite to the max, I do not know what will! As with all of Ty’s other SERIES this will hold you in the palm of your hand and then keep you until that VERY last page!!!
As per usual with TY, the character development rings true! The language the situations are all extraordinarily strong in building the CASE to it is close! Later on, at the end you can (at least I felt) the London Fog as its eerily denseness captured that confrontation to realistic levels of page turning DELIGHT!
The action part of the BOOK is true to the Characters involved. Sterling is a big man, FBI true and yet as a Profiler, is versed in self defense yet has a vulnerability that may lead him to his becoming more proficient in other types of hand-to-hand fighting!
You will quickly become familiar with this phrase “First one to five gets it all.” What that
really means will become evident in the later pages of this opening ACT of the SERIES! Certainly, once revealed will be a turn down that avenue not expected or dreamed as you turn one page to the next and the next and the next…
My book reading / Kindle Friends of all types, please and I do not work for TY, enjoy yourself in this new venture of collaboration! I have read all of Ty Hutchinson’ work and this is another addition to a STABLE of Writing that has reached another level!
You will be captivated from the first until the final page, yet that wanting of MORE will leave just that WAY! I cannot hope that the second installment (pre-ordered) will unleash more of the same as this Edition!
Thank you both Ty and Brian for a wonderful reading experience, much needed today from what is going on in the World, a temporary venture into a solid experience!

Respectfully,

Chuck Mercik

Not very impressed. I wonder if feeding an AI chatbot with the works of James Patterson and Val McDermid then having it generate a novel might produce something like this work. There are hints of both, but far less detail and less careful construction than in McDermid's work.

British readers will be irritated at all the errors in the half of the story set in London. Police officers here do not drink beer on duty, especially when they are driving. They use initials like 'DI' among themselves, but not when introducing themselves to members of the public, as many people do not know what those stand for. Even in the American-set first part, I was dubious about a detective claiming of a town "population of sixty thousand .... a small place .... everyone knows everyone else". Hardly likely.

Having two identical twin brothers turn to crime, one in the UK and one in the USA, is a bit of a gimmick, and is not used to it's full potential, e.g. the author's opportunity to have the investigators (and readers) thoroughly confused through obtaining DNA results suggesting that all the crimes have been committed by the same person is not exploited.

Thank you to NetGalley as well as Severn River Publishing for the ARC copy of Hunting the Mirror Man!

The concept for the book is a great one, Agent Sterling Gray is an FBI agent for the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). This book follows Agent Gray as he is hunting the Mirror Man. This book gave me big Criminal Minds vibes but sadly there were so many errors it was hard for me to enjoy. The character Gary is referred to as Michael multiple times, there are spelling and punctuation errors in almost every chapter. The book gave a lot of detail in some areas and hardly any in other areas. The title regarding the Mirror Man is also strange as the killer was never referred to this title in the entirety of the book. I feel like there were many pieces left unsorted and I’m a fairly disappointed.

This series has a lot of potential. The character development was good and the storyline was interesting and convoluted enough to keep me flipping pages to see how it all would end. Fans of Criminal Minds and stories about the FBI’s BAU will enjoy the series. So why the lower star rating? The story itself deserves a 4+ star rating, but I cannot in good conscience give that higher rating because of editing and proofreading issues. I received an ARC from the publisher and don’t expect an ARC to be devoid of errors, but there were so many that it distracted from the story itself. Please be aware that the story itself is very good and well worth reading.

Great introduction to FBI Agent Stirling Gray of the BAU.
2 Bodies are found of women, cut open, their innards bagged up and sewed back into the body, a 3rd woman is missing and Agent Gray is called in to profile and help catch the killer. They track him down but before they can interrogate, he gets killed. As Stirling gets back to the office he gets asked to help Interpol with a similar type case in London. Some things are similar to the case he just left behind, but a lot of things are different.
Definitely deserves a place in your TBR pile. Looking forward to the next book!
Thank you to Severn River Publishing for an early read in exchange for my opinion.

This book was seriously fast-paced and intense, and I loved it! Sterling Gray, FBI profiler, is an amazing main character, and very likable. Two complex cases, one in Iowa and one in London, have Gray running himself ragged to beat the clock as women’s lives hang in the balance. Unique and compelling story and good supporting characters, but numerous spelling and grammar mistakes kept me from giving it a full 5 stars. I will be following this talented author duo for future books, and I recommend others do the same. I received an advanced copy of this book from the authors through SRP Mystery and Thriller Books, and have given my voluntary and honest feedback.

Abductions and murders

A suspenseful thriller by Brian Shea and Ty Hutchinson which is a riveting page turner. A killer who abducts young women and carves them up. Sterling manages to apprehend him. Unfortunately the man gets killed in the police encounter so Sterling could not find out the reason for the murders What is strange is that there is another killer who is also abducting women in a similar way and pounding them to death. Are the two cases related and will Sterling find the second killer who is an expert in covering his tracks? A must read.

SPOILERS

It was okay. Not terribly suspenseful. It was easy to put down and go to sleep. I wasn't excited to pick it up again.

I found there to be a lot of repeat information. Like, the two killers explained their actions in angry thoughts. Then, the FBI agent, Gray, analyzed the killers' behavior, which matched the killers' previous rants. Then Gray informed the other investigators of his findings/conclusions/theories.

In addition, two victims conveniently escaped their killers, which was the only reason why the investigations moved so quickly.

This is the start of a new series. It was okay. I think it definitely has the potential to be something really great. I loved the story line but found the execution to be a little choppy. At times I felt there wasn't enough information or story development; while at other times, it was too much or felt rushed.

I like the premise of this new series and I look forward to seeing where this one goes.

Hunting the mirror man is a fast-paced story with characters strongly built and clues to the mysteries being given through the chapters. I hope the main character, Sterling Gray, will continue to grow with the series and hopefully will accompany cases throughout the globe. If you enjoy stories in the genre this is a must-read!
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and this is my unbiased opinion.

Good story line but the prose was very dry. It just didn't have any emotion to it. The book was mostly in the third person, but occasionally the main character would "think out loud". Also really bugged me how they referred to everyone by their last name, but in conversation would call them by their first name. The plot was good, but not that compelling for me. I may try reading another Brian Shea book as I saw he had good reviews.

First, this book needed some serious editing, missing periods, wrong words, etc. etc. Made it very hard to read. This story is about FBI profiler Sterling Gray. When co-eds start missing, then found dead, Gray helps profile the killer. But it doesn't end there, soon he is sent to London and finds a similar case. There is a lot of twists and a shocking ending. Would have been 5 stars except for the editing. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Hunting the Mirror Man

Is a very good read. I like the Sterling Gray character as an FBI contributor in London to find a serial killer. Working with the London group of detectives, Gray was teamed with a female detective to find the criminal who charmed and killed college women. The killings came ever closer, and Gray seemed hopeless as the killings evolved. And then the killer kidnapped the female detective, and Gray is surprised by whom the killer actually was...

The premise behind this book is fantastic. I love crime and BAU related stories. This however way just okay for me. I love the character development but the story for me felt rushed and quick.
I will pick up the next on the series though to see how it develops.

Thanks to Netgalley and Severn River Publishing for sharing this title. This was an enjoyable diversion for a few days. I would highly recommend this to any Criminal Minds fans, it has a vibe very close to that but with a smaller cast of characters. This definitely seems like it could be an ongoing series and I’ll probably read more.

i love a good hunt for a serial killer. I think this will be an interesting series for sure. It had a touch of romance, mystery and profiling. I would like to see how Gray's future holds up and if he ends up taking the new job. For me it was a bit rushed at times and had some mislabled characters which could be a quick oversight but it does confuse you a bit.

I enjoyed this story! Gray is a profiler, assisting on serial killer cases in different countries, and the way his mind worked was really interesting to read. The story was fascinating in a twisted sort of way, easily holding your attention from start to end. I wasn't expecting it to play out as it did, which is always fun. I look forward to reading more in this series in the future.

How could murders occurring in Ames, Iowa possibly connect to murders across the pond in England? Brilliant idea and you will have to read the book to find out. Very creepy settings, the corn fields in Iowa and dense fog in the area of White Chapel ( the hunting ground of Jack the Ripper). Interesting characters that I hope to learn more about in the following books.

interesting segue in the middle

But I didn’t like the ending. Agent Gray is a smart dude; always get’s his man. Ben Porter, the protagonist In False Assurances, Threat Bias, Subversive Addiction and Vital Deception always get’s his man or woman, but is actually a bit smarter than Gray.

who wrote this book?

I read Brian Shea’s Boston murders book series and absolutely loved them.
But this book is nothing like it, feels like written by a different person. The story itself had potential but was killed by the primitive writing. there is no depth to the characters, the ending was so predictable and cheesy.
It was just ok.

I enjoyed Sterling Grey the FBI profiler. I am always interested in profiling stories. Grey is relatable as the profiler coming in to help the local police with a potential serial killer case. There is someone out there targeting female college students who live off campus. The killer mutilates the bodies and dumps them in cornfields.
