Hear No Evil: The Book of Axel

Rate this book
Please note, that this book is adult in nature. Please be advised.

This is book 1 of a three book series. This is a standalone. No cliffhangers.

Axel Hendrix is six feet, three inches of lean muscle and mischief. Born and bred in Portland, Kentucky, he is a sight to behold, covered from his neck to his ankles in tattoos and scars—both on the inside and outside. Industrious and quick-thinking, he eagerly works a grisly job that requires a stomach for the morbid and macabre: a crime scene cleaning business.

But now, Axel has attracted trouble with a capital ‘T’ by witnessing something he cannot unsee and drawing a target on his back. In over his head, he attempts to fulfill a promise, make peace with his inner demons, and get his life in order by eliminating the threat looming over him. But even a stone-hearted man like him has his kryptonite…
Enter English Price.

English is already aware of Axel’s reputation. Seeing him in the flesh sends unexpected chills and thrills up and down her spine. In spite of the instant chemistry, she refuses to give in to his lure. Besides, bad boys are bad news, and she’s had enough unsavory situations in her life to write a book. The brief chapter of rough neck men is closed, never to be re-read again.

But from the moment they meet, a chain of events is set in motion, and the attraction cannot be denied. Their future is already written in stone.

Come along on a dark, twisted ride chock full of pain, payback, and passion. Axel has three assignments, and he plans to pass them with flying colors…

Man, this was a deep story!

Tiana just has a way with words in a story that just makes one think. This story was so deep it almost set my brain on fire.

I loved this story. It was serious and deep but Tiana had me laughing throughout the entire book with the things that the characters said. I just love English and Axel. They were a couple that did not hold anything back from each other. They were honest and raw being unafraid of what others thought of their relationship including their families.

I loved how Ms. Florence's visitations got Axel to act on his promises. Now he's ready to help his brothers Legend and Caspian, the Three Disciples to handle theirs. He helped English handle her problems too. One has to face evil and deal with it in order to be fully free. It's whether you hear no evil, see no evil, or speak no evil, one still has to confront it, and deal with it so one can move on to have a full life. I can see two more books being written about "See No Evil" and one about "Speak No Evil" coming in the future about Legend and Caspian. That's going to be really interesting to read.

🙉

Axel Hendrix, by all appearances, is your typical bad boy…. long hair, covered in tattoos, and built like a brawler…and has dealt with a lot in his young life. While working his unconventional job cleaning crime scenes, he stumbles upon something he shouldn’t have seen, gaining attention from the wrong type of people. In the midst of trying to deal with the threat to his life he meets English Price.

English Price is a good girl who wants nothing to do with bad boys… or does she? A chance meeting kindles a spark, and starts the most unlikely of romances.
This book was amazing! The author was able to show the multiple facets of a relationship… from their playful banter, amazingly hot sex scenes, to intensely dramatic scene. Intertwined we’re side characters with issues that kept the reader intrigued and wanting to read more.
I can’t wait to read Legend and Caspian’s stories!

Hear No Evil

Ms. Laveen has done it again: she's taken a man who some may consider a bad guy and made him likeable and relatable. Axel was exceptional and amazing; I like that he was tough but also had vulnerabilities. I loved how he loved English and I enjoyed his honesty. With Axel, there was no pretense or games, and that was refreshing. English proved that each one of us has a past and when we are vulnerable, hurting, or we don't really know ourselves, we can make foolish and unwise decisions. When Axel and English had the conversation about her past, I was glad he didn't hold it against her; he just wanted to show he still cared for her no matter what, and I also like that he gave her time to tell him and he knew how to soothe and calm her down. I'm ready for the next book in this series.

From my perspective, Tiana Laveen’s stories have great world-building, true to life storylines that could be ripped from the headlines. I have found the characters to be well-developed and relatable. In the first installment of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒔 series, 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐵𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑜𝑓 𝐴𝑥𝑒𝑙, I found Axel to be a gritty no nonsense alpha hero who loves deep and is very protective of those he loves. However, he has some unresolved issues and a promise to keep. English Price is his new lady love. She has an issue from her past that is trying to come back and reclaim her for himself.

The bones of this story is mainly regarding Axel fulfilling his promise to Ms. Florence his old teacher. When push comes to shove, both Axel and English will face their demons head on. When the dust settles, the cleaner and his 800 will be the last ones standing. I plan to stick with this series; I have enjoyed the world-building and the characters. I would recommend this story to anyone who likes relatable characters and true to life situations.

I went into this book expecting organized crime vibes with a mafia storyline. This is much deeper and has a nice twist on opposites-attracts.

Wonderfully written!

Ms. Laveen has such a way with words. She makes you feel like a voyeur, watching through the window of a couple with whom you want to befriend. Witnessing their first meeting, first date, first kiss, and first sexual encounter. She gives such a realistic feel to her characters. Making you think and believe that these people actually exist and who have allowed us just a little peek into their lives to hear their conversation and watch them grow and make each other better. Her heroines are always Strong, independent, and confident. The Hero is always sexy, smooth, with a quick wit and a Silver tongue.

With AXEL & ENGLISH it hasn't changed. This couple was each other's medicine. ENGLISH, had been through some things but she overcame, conquered, and got her Shit together, but like a virus that past reappeared and wanted to wreck her. Then here comes AXEL, tearing through shit like a Machete, making things right for his woman, his friends, his family, and himself. Always speaking his truth.

This is 28th book of Ms. Laveen's books that I have read (with 8 awaiting to be read including SEE no EVIL) and I have yet to be disappointed. I am so looking forward to reading Legend's story.

I’d Like My Time and Money Back

It has been a long time since I have felt so strongly about writing a review, especially after feeling like I got ripped off. This book has a ton of 4/5 stars and I’m not sure how. Every other paragraph had a song title disjointedly thrown in. Very long internal monologues that seem to drag the story on. Even a lengthy description of a tv show that the characters we’re watching. Was the author trying to reach a specific word count? Because I purchased the book I felt I had to read until the end, hoping it would get better. It didn’t. Why not one star? Well the book isn’t unreadable, I just can’t recommend that you do. I won’t be continuing the series. And I don’t know that I could read anything else by this author.

The books are good

I love this book, now that I have read book one I got a better understanding of book two. I love the play list you give in the books some 80's,90's and some 20's this make me smile you got it all . This book bought me back to my grandma I miss her because she would show up in my dreams like Ms. Florence and tell you about yourself, This book brought everything one need drama, laughs, tears and joy at the end. I can say this read the books they are good, I don't want to give away the story. Happy reading😊.

Too much and not enough

This was a whole lot of nothing. It was about 50 songs mentioned. But why? Why did every song that was playing on the radio have to be mentioned. The dialogue between the characters was lame and boring. I skipped a lot of pages. This book didn't seem well thought out or put together. This author is usually on her game, but this one fell by the way side. It was just plain boring. What was the point of Ms. Florence? Another piece of nothing in a book of nothing.

Hear No Evil: The Book of Axel

Of course I enjoyed it! I Love all of her books! Week and English was so different but their Love to each sealed the deal! Plenty of action and love! The things English went through tells you how manuiplate and evil people can be! But the love and strength of her parents helped her to break free! And the love of her man ended her suffering! I loved the fact that they both love their families AND had great friends who was there for them! Great read now onto book 2! I have all in the series and ready for them! You will not be disappointed!

Pure fire!

Brilliantly written, this story is about English and Axel, both bogged down by traumatic incidents in their lives. Axel is a rough and tumble take no mess kind of guy. And English is a proper book curator with a fire within. They fall in love and have to battle many demons, both physical and emotional. Read this story and experience the passion and explosive love between these two. Can't wait for the next edition in the series.

Hear No Evil: Axel

Destruction, manipulation, deceit, coercion, and shame plays a role in one’s psyche…

Digging deep to find truth and a solid foundation is what’s needed to prosper in the world…

Be careful about judging a book by its cover, one may just be destiny awaiting…

Axel, though troubled, turned his life around from detention to proprietor…

English, indoctrinated into select group, gained freedom and self-confidence…

Hear No Evil 🙉 Axel!!

This is the first book in a trilogy that’s starting out with a bang💥! This first book is about English and Axel, and has a little bit of everything, suspense, romance, and paranormal. As usual Tiana has given us a winner! Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Note to self: I'm going to take a break from these books as I've noticed the H characters seem to be clones in their dialogues in the last few books. Can't get past the first few pages of these works without being reminded of some other characters from her other books. May revisit in a few years when it's not so fresh.

Good

A good read as expected from this author. I was a little disappointed though, this author clearly knows how to write a good story, but there was a lot of literary flowery padding in my opinion. I am looking forward to reading the next instalment as I can't wait to find out all of the promises.

This was so good! I could not put my kindle down! I am so glad that Axel and English got their HEA. No more interference from English's psychotic stalker! It was a good ending! I am glad that Legend got to help out as well. Now, I am reading Legend's story!

Great Read

Ms. Laveen always delvers. Believable characters and great world building. Who doesn't love a story with an alpha male and strong heroine. Adding real-world issues and problems anyone can face is the icing on the cake. Hear no evil is a great read.

I loved reading about Axel and English. It’s a love story of opposites attracts. Axel is so funny and shoots straight from the hip. English is mostly laid back and unproblematic but she is no shrinking violet. If you put both people together, then you get a wonderful journey of love.

As usual, Ms Laveen has done it again. A story that was brutally real. It was hard to put this book down. Can't wait to begin See No Evil.
