Rate this book
Donna's love life is a mess. Years of online-dating has left her self-esteem in tatters. Now 56, she can boast a list of failed relationships longer than a grocery bill. When her spiteful daughter Olivia makes a scathing remark about her mother's love life, Donna sets out on one last quest to find Mr Right. Is it too late to find lasting love, or will she just repeat the same mistakes?

It's 2020 and England is in lockdown, presenting a whole range of new challenges for daters.

Donna's forays into the world of dating lead her on a series of calamitous adventures involving an unwanted gift, faking her identity, and getting arrested. And finally, her job as a nurse is on the line. When things go horribly wrong, Olivia decides to take matters into her own hands.

The love that Donna has always searched for isn’t the type of love she needs. Her journey reveals a few home-truths and ultimately she discovers that real lasting love has been staring her right in the face all along.

‘Joanna latest book is full of humorous episodes, but also becomes gripping when Donna finds herself arrested during the Covid 19 Pandemic. Her skills as a writer to be able to combine humour and tragedy so well in this story make it a stand out read for me. She captured the atmospehere during the pandemic, and the way it affected lives, so well. Heading A VERY WELL CRAFTED TALE. Reader Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not my cup of tea. At all.

Honestly? I disliked pretty much every character in this book from the needy heroine to her selfish daughter and all the unpleasant men she interacted with. Honestly, it's a story of lockdown and if you were living this story you'd be grateful to be in solitary confinement so you didn't have to spend time with any of these people. I was relieved to get to the end of this book, it just left me depressed. Talk about misleading -
it was neither romantic nor funny. No redeeming features for me - laugh out loud? That's the biggest joke of all as I didn't even smile once.....

DECEPTIVE
Yes, this is a comedy and as described, it’s a laugh-out-loud page-turner, but underneath, there lie uncomfortable truths about modern society. Well written and while I have read several books on internet dating, this is really different. Recommended.

I felt that though the concept was good, I felt it a little bit of a bore. Preferred the latter part of the book... But not really my cup of tea.
