Through trials and tribulations, life does not stop moving. Lieutenant Savannah Warner has learned this the hard way. Finding herself getting lost in her daily life, she knows it is time for a change. After making the choice to move out of the city, the chain of events that follow can only be considered as fate intervening. When she signs the contract on her new home, she is unaware of the fact she is signing up for an entirely new life. While still trying to deal with the past, the future is coming at her full force and showing no mercy. With her German Shepherd, Ace, by her side, Savannah’s brooding Landlord, Brady Beauregard, gives her a run for her money. She finds herself constantly stepping out of her comfort zone to accommodate for this new chapter in her life. How will fate play a role in all of this? Savannah and Brady will quickly learn that there’s a far deeper meaning as to why their paths were destined to cross.
This is a slow-burn, real-world, contemporary romance, crime fiction story with hints of paranormal sprinkled in. It's 433 pages so there's plenty of room for the author to weave all these elements in carefully, purposefully, and with a sense of calm and purpose. The characters feel real and make real-world decisions the reader can relate to...
The story opens with Lieutenant Savannah Warner being injured on the job--and because of that injury, she's away when someone she cares deeply for is taken from her life. She needs time away from the job and finds a house to lease-to-own in a nearby small town. Unfortunately, the house needs some repairs. As does Savannah. As does her new landlord. The symbolism is fantastic.
There are paranormal elements that slowly creep in and pile on top of one another so smoothly that you accept them perfectly...they make perfect sense. They fit into the tapestry of the story Bloodsteel weaves until the climax of the story rips the mask off and reveals all. (I have a longer review of this in the SandySaysRead booktube channel.)

Author J.R. Bloodsteel hooks me from page one in "Our Saving Grace" is a story about Savannah and her new life. She moves out of the city and meets Brady, her landlord. They both face challenges but find a special connection. The book talks about how things happen for a reason and the power of friendship and love.
If you like stories about people finding themselves and falling in love, you'll enjoy this book.
This book was a great read. It made me laugh, cry, cuss a little, and smile a lot. The characters are very relatable and the story comes full circle. It's been a while since I'd read a book that was hard to put down. This one kept me reading because I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I hope there will be a sequel one day.
