My preordained mate left me, heartbroken and alone. Not only am I feeling these strange emotions, but my world crumbles around me as corruption and attacks threaten to destroy Shadow City.
The fury of Hell continues to grow as more of their plans unravel. When my mate reappears, I can’t help but fear it could be a ploy…once more.
Whatever happens, I can't allow him to use me again, even if my heart screams for me to forgive him. Because my decisions don't only affect me… they could endanger the entire world.
Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.
My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.
I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.

If this was about how much I love Rosemary: 5 stars
But Levi is so toxic in this to the extent I genuinely wondered if he was being mind-controlled. He repeatedly toys with Rosemary's emotions and purposefully ignites conflicts with Killian and refuses to respect Rosemary's relationship with him. He apologises for some of his actions but he is so self righteous and saying that she is wrong and needs to be less judgemental when he is the one actively hiding things from her. A guy saying he shared info with another woman and not her because the other woman is more expendable is not cute.
I love Rosemary and have been so looking forward to her getting the attention she deserves but she deserves better than this.
I mean, I didn’t really like all the angst and bickering back and forth that Rosemary and Levi went through. It was back and forth and arguing about Levi hurting her and all that. It got pretty corny right away.
Most of the relationship between Levi and Rosemary was pretty dramatic and I feel that they had it much more so then any other fated mate series set in this world. Also, it was still nice to see their relationship and development.
The plot deals with demon attacks, a rescue mission to retrieve a sword and witch, and stolen artifacts. Also, demons are more focused on this time as well. I also love the world building and the characters we have all come to know and love.
The plot twists just keep coming! This is a well paced book. I was a bit disappointed in Levi in this book. I don’t want to give away too much due to spoilers but you know what I’m talking about when you read this book. I definitely enjoyed the action in this one. Can’t wait to see what happens! I really like Levi’s dad too!
Demon Marked is the second book in the Shadow City Dark Angel series. Things have gotten so out of control, it's pure chaos and it's awesome. A good friend group, bad guys constantly attacking, and the connected plots all equal to a great read.
While Rosemary has grown and changed she still has these "Rosemary moments" that have me putting my palm to my face. She's still her but more so with more of her emotions unlocked. Rosemary had an emotional breakdown in this book, she was feeling all the feelings and to a great extent than she's been used to. But the good comes along with the bad. She's connecting more with people, understanding her loved ones better and realizing some of her previous logic was flawed, and working to make corrections.
I don't think I've ever come across a book series where I disliked the love interest and didn't somehow be swayed to their side, until now. I don't like Levi. He doesn't look at Rosemary as an equal in the relationship, he believes his intentions justify his actions, he refuses to see it from another's perspective and he lashes out at Rosemary too often. I will admit that by the end of this he has grown and promised to change his ways but I'm just not into him. Maybe I'll feel better in the next Shadow City series.
Things go from bad to worse with this group. Azbogah is plotting, demons are attacking, and now the princes of Hell are up to something. It's a lot and it's most definitely taking its toll on the group but they're hanging in there. I don't know about you but I get great satisfaction when the little pieces from the previous books come together and that's what's happening in this book. Not only were things pretty intense emotional but physical as well because of all the crazy attacks. Wondering when the next shoe was gonna drop most definitely propelled the story forward.
Holy cow! Demon Marked was quite the surprise, demons, Hell, missing artifacts, sabotage, and relationship drama makes for an entertaining read. Best of all the story ended on one helluva jaw-dropper. I mean I didn't see it coming and now I'm wondering how my favorite friend group gonna get out of this.
3.5 ⭐️ Rosemary is navigating a whirlwind of human-like emotions ever since Levi entered the picture. It's a bit of a rollercoaster as she grapples with her newfound feelings. Imagine falling head over heels for a demon – it's the stuff of legends. And speaking of legends, these two are preordained mates, a twist that Rosemary finds almost too good to be true. Their relationship has its fair share of clashes, but hey, that's how sparks often fly, right? I've got to admit, it was a heartwarming moment when we finally got to witness them team up and work their magic together. Action-packed and with a steady rhythm, the story keeps you engaged as their connection deepens and evolves. This book is good, but like the previous ones, there's a recurring theme of the main character being taken aback by her own emotions. It's a bit excessive and, honestly, it has a tendency to make a strong female warrior seem less sharp than she actually is, which doesn't quite do her justice.
Rosemary, Levi and the rest are back and boy does this story put you thur the ringer of emotions you won't be able to stop reading. Right form the beginning you are pulled back into their story. Rosemary heartbroken cause he left with out saying a word, goes thur a torrent of emotions you can't help but cry with her. As the story goes on the truth comes out about why he had to do it, things between them are strained and they don't if they will be able to get back. Will she see past her hurt and pain to give him a chance? Will he be able to prove that he is all in? Will they find out more than what they know? Will they lose it all? Another amazing, emotional, action packed read with do many twist and turns you won't expect any of it. An ending that will have you coming back more. I so can't wait to read what she has next.
Another thrilling book in this series Rosemary an angel with little understanding of the modern world but is beginning to learn that everything is not just black and white and is changing since she found a sincere group of friends who only want the best for every supernatural and are constantly fighting evil in all its forms. She has fallen deeply in love with a demon he is her preordained mate which she finds hard to believe and she and Levi are constantly at odds until they finally come to terms with their fate. Levi has had to leave for a mission to hell and she is called to deal with a threat to her mother by the bad element in the council unfortunately she is caught with damning evidence and we are left with a cliffhanger of what will happen to Rosemary now can't wait for the next book.
Great book! Levi broke Rosemary's heart. She woke up to a cold side of the bed where her newly mated man should have been. Levi never said he was leaving. Rosemary is crushed. Their bond is cold so she knows he went back to Hell. She realizes she never should have completed the bond with her preordained mate, Levi. Days later she finally feels him and he's in terrible pain. She finds him but won't talk to him. She's pissed at him leaving and not telling her. The princes of hell beat him so badly. However his dad helped them escape Hell. After finally talking to her mate, he just doesn't think he did anything wrong. He was protecting her. Levi and a few others need to go back to Hell. Rosemary is petrified when he leaves. But then she gets caught stealing angel artifacts and ends in prison. Onto the next book in the Dark Angel series.
Demon Marked is the second book in the Shadow City: Dark Angel series. It is necessary to read this series in order as one book begins where the previous book ends.
This book manages to keep the reader guessing and is filled with action, surprises and so much drama. Rosemary and Levi are dealing with unexpected emotions, betrayal and their mate connection. Rosemary learning how to handle emotions is just the tip of the iceberg of this action-packed book. Read to find out what happens to Rosemary, Levi and their friends when the truth comes out about the past and how they deal with the facts. Expect meddling from unexpected individuals, action, surprising allies, chemistry and emotional roller-coaster.
Over half of this outing had Rosemary, running the gamut of emotions after settling their bond and Levi left by morning… for the demon realm with the demon sword and without a word. Levi returns with his dad, demons and the princess herself on their tails and the princess taunts Rosemary with hints of knowledge of Yelahiah’s past that baffle Rosemary.
Azbogah’s noose tightens around Yelahiah’s neck as Rosemary share’s her new status, driving Yelahiah to spill a secret or two. Azbogah’s latest plan power through a change in shifter leadership, theoretically to verify/validate artifacts in the warehouse. While the Scooby’s work a plan with the witches with Levi, Rosemary tries to thwart Azbogah and his minions. Rating: 4stars
After the previous book's cliffhanger, I was so happy to get my hands on a copy of this book! The story picks up where the last left off and Rosemary is not happy. She is both heartbroken and angry that Levi left for Hell without telling her his plans. She feels abandoned and hurt and so many other emotions she isn't used to feeling. She has no idea if he is coming back and if he does, she isn't sure if she would forgive him. When Levi does come back, he is on the brink of death. And though she is angry with him, it doesn't stop her from loving him. The two of them have a lot to work out in this story before they arrive on the same page and become true partners as mates. Meanwhile, so much is going on. They have the missing artifacts to locate before Rosemary's mother takes the hit. The Princes of Hells are after Levi and his father and want them dead. And the angels are on the brink of civil war that Azbogah has been slowly gathering support for. It is only a matter of time before everything blows up and war begins. Another great story and another tough cliffhanger! I can't wait to see where the next book takes us.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I can not say this enough, if you have not read the Shadow City collection you have missed out totally!!! As the story continues to unfold in each series of the collection it gets even more intriguing and intense and I would not have believed that possible but it’s a real thing!!!! The characters are extremely well developed and move together like clock work and omg Sierra will make you belly laugh and have your family members looking at you like what’s going on with you??? She’s hilarious as well as a great fighter and loving loyal friend….. Read this entire collection you will so not go wrong… this series is gonna have a permanent home in my mind for a long time to come then I’m certain I’ll reread it again so it will continue on.
Rosemary can’t seem to win, she bonded with Levi and he ups and leaves! That is so not fair. He does come back with his father but Rosemary is so mad she puts him back under guard. Things are not going well for Rosemary’s parent and you can see they are being set up but they haven’t figured out how and why. Then Rosemary tries to help and gets caught by Azbogah and thrown in prison. This is after Levi goes back to hell to try to get Annie’s mom back with a group of witches. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Maybe they will put a bigger dent in the individuals who are trying to make life difficult for the friends.
A lot happened in this book and with every book I hate Azbogah more and more. Enjoy how the story moves and grows with Rosemary, but also with the rest of the group but sometimes I wish there were more POV’s in each book to bring that depth forward. As with all of her books, Jen does a great job with foreshadowing. I still really like Rosemary and Levi together, it’s a good balance. Rosemary’s “archaic” phrasing and lack of knowledge of modern terminology sometimes feels forced and misses the mark since she is intelligent and could figure some of it out. Overall another good book in the shadow city world, and excited for the next one!
I loved each trilogy of the Shadow City series and it was a group of supernaturals with each one telling their own story about their journey through a different dimension part of Shadow City and its trial and of course when they each find their fated mates. This one is about Rosemary an angel with a pure heart and soul who because of her story doesn’t feel emotions like she once did as a child but because of her friends she has become close to she meets her preordained fated mates. I really enjoyed this trilogy because there is a lot of fighting and a an angel who find her emotions and trying to work through them.
This was a typical second book in the series, unfortunately. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just that it was super predictable, and I spent no time thinking 'omg what is going to happen'. Though Rosemary isn't exactly my favorite main character, which might lean into the predictability issue. Otherwise, this book is great. It's easy to read and works in the same universe without making me question everything I've ever known. The pacing was great. And the story wasn't lacking, which is also good. Hopefully the third book is less predictable.
I have read the other shadow city series and this series is no difference love to story and following the characters lives. My only grip is it keeps on repeating the same information over and over again, it’s getting annoying and breaks up the current story. I know it’s written this way so you can just read any other the series in any order. I would just prefer a numbered order of what books to read first and leave out all the reminders about passed books -this is why I dropped the extra stars.
I would have given This book a five but Rosemary who is over a thousand years old has no social skills and since she is mad that her mate left she know has emotions that she can’t handle. Also, after the introduction to demons she is one of the most powerful protectors and gets bogged with jealousies over Levi’s choices. In to book 3 - I have to see how they figure out what happened to the artifacts and why they have been taken other than to frame the shifters, vampires or good angels.
I have really enjoyed all the world building that has gone into each segment of all the series.
We are starting to connect the dots with all the underhand plotting that has been happening. I love that we are seeing more growth in Rosemary as she has always seemed cold and aloof, but we are seeing that internal struggle within her and in a way humanising her.
..and it is getting to be a bit much. I found all the emotionalism exhausting. Yeah it's a bit funny when Rosemary misunderstands idioms and puns and whatnot but I'm more and more annoyed by Sierra and I sincerely hope none of these books is a trilogy about her. She'd be a good one to have as a secondary character/romance. Too bad this author doesn't seem to do that. It would make these trilogies more bearable if the focus was a bit broader.
I'm having a very hard time with this series nothing but whining and repeating she could have put both book 1 and book 2 in 20 pages if she left out all the whining pour me crap and all the repeating. Never read jen l grey till I found the Hidden King series I loved it then I realized I missed wolf born trilogy, loved it also same with silver wolf but it stared going down hill with Ronnie's story and got progressively worse.
I loved EVERYTHING!!! the chemistry, slow burn, the angst, silly fights and heartbreak! Yes it starts with a painful heartbreak and ends with yet another crazy problem! But i have no doubt my bad @ss angel AND squad will prevail!! Rosemary is a force of nature and her determination is endless - she will die trying if she has too. Cant wait for the next book!!
I really enjoyed reading this series because of the fated mates and their stories of realizing who they are and fighting the bond. I also liked the story that is being told behind the fated mates and how it builds from book to book. I have my whole family involved in the story. It is funny, sad, and happy all at once.
After what..10…books (I think) of knowing Rosemary, it’s still weird when she says “I love you”. It great that her emotions have appeared resulting in her being more humanized. I’m really curious about the last preordained mates and what happened to make preordained “extinct”. And what about that weird energy from the artifacts? 🤔
This series is amazing. I zipped right through and came back to write the reviews because I didn't want to stop reading. A page turner from the get go. Rosemary is an outstanding Angel and is learning what feelings are all about. Her preordained left right after they completed their bond. She is all out of sorts and it is driving her insane. A great read.
Love the Shadow City series. Love reading about Sterlyn, Griffin, Killian, Sierra, Rosemary, Syrus, Ronnie, Alex, Annie and Levi. Silver Wolf the first in the series the 2nd in the series Royal Vampire ,the third set in the series Demon Wolf, and now to the last in the Shadow City series The Dark Angel. this is another great book.
✅Paranormal romance ✅Fated mates Continuation of Levi and Rosemary
Favourite Quote: “Intent doesn’t make things right or better. It only allows the person who hurt another to justify their actions to themselves. Just like when I continually thought the worst of you, hurting you wasn’t my intent, either.”
Rosemary's story was harder to get into for me. The extra explaining how angels process differently from other supernaturals was tough, however, once I made it to the story at hand, I was consumed!! This book for Rosemary's story has been my favorite of the entire Shodow City series!
Rosemary is still working out all the human-like emotions that are bombarding her with the appearance with Levi. Loved it when we finally got to see them in action together. Lots of action and steady paced.
I cannot get enough of Jen's writing. She just keeps weaving the stories that pull you in and keep your attention from beginning to end. I love this group of characters they all work so well together and how they fiercely defend each other and their loyalty goes beyond.
