I have a secret. A double life. My name is River for some, Rose for others. Everyone gets a piece of me but no one gets it all.
Becoming a high-class escort wasn’t my dream but fate decided otherwise. Now, I’m caught between the one who broke my heart, the one who pays for my screams, and the one who intrigues me.
I think I have everything under control until danger comes knocking on my door.
The world as I know it is on fire and all I can do is watch it burn. I just need to try and avoid the flames to get out alive.
TRIGGER WARNING: The Rich One is the first volume of a series of six to be released every other month. It is graphic and morally on the fence containing extremely sensitive material that may not be adapted to your needs. If you’re okay with all of this, just remember…we warned you. On the plus side, the lead female is strong and proud and ‘her’ men come with a fire extinguisher. If you’re still reading after all of that then, by all means, sit down, relax, and enjoy the filthy, bumpy road ahead.
Our books are graphic and morally on the fence containing extremely sensitive material that may not be adapted to your needs. If you’re okay with all of this, just remember… we warned you. She is a one-woman powerhouse, so I think we need to bin all these men. Just bin them all, she doesn’t need them. Actually, we will keep the billionaire, but the others we can throw away.
I was so sucked into her ‘Pretty woman’ world, but I loved to see how she handled the fine line between her job and her reality. I don’t know if I would categorised it as a typical RH, but there are multiple separate relationships. She repeatedly mentioned one main client and the 2 other men don’t know about her profession. The 3 relationships she did discuss were at varying stages.
Rose/ River - Escort by night and sometimes day, but also an amazing sister and all-around great person. She’s always thinking of others and I think this is thrown back in her face a lot.
Kai - So unlikeable. He’s rude, he’s insensitive and sooooo frustrating. He wants to be with her when HE is ready. He doesn’t answer her emergency calls because he’s petty and upset she is in a ‘fake’ relationship. The cliffhanger will make you hate him more and the first 6% of book 2 is his POV and he makes no sense. For clarity, I’m DNF this series cause of him. Just him, only because of him🤷🏻♀️
Nate - Creepy vibes. I don’t like something about him. Maybe it’s the fact he’s always at the supermarket, I honestly don’t have a specific reason 😅. He hasn’t appeared much anyway.
Tyler - We will be keeping this man because he has a heart of gold and is very rich. He never treats her like an escort. He is compassionate and caring. Their ending was honestly upsetting.
I am slightly confused as to why she is an escort. She bought her brother's house for him and is paying off his student loans. Why can he not do this himself? Their parents are deceased, so I understand her taking on this parental role, but he is an adult now. She is doing this career to basically pay for him, so where does he think the money is coming from? I think the fact that he is always high pisses me off as well when she is literally putting herself in awful situations for this money.
There are 6 books so I get that there will be a lot of ups and downs, but Kai is a no for me. He brings his ex-girlfriend to somewhere he knows she will be and tries to get with her. I think because I know book 2 revolves around him also, it’s making me want to DNF more. My patience is non-existent. He’s just a sh1t.
I came across this book unexpectedly, a shared post on social media from a different author. I saw the word dark and that's all I needed to know...off I trot to get myself a copy. I didn't really know what to expect, but do you know what? I think the anonymity of the authors really helps with the story. Whilst reading you can tell they aren't newbies to the book world. The characterisation and world building are brilliantly done, the flow and emotions are just spot on and the ending...that's the work of a pro!! But the not knowing who wrote it leads to a whole new game. There are times you think you recognise a style, get a gist of the writing style but then just as quick, it's all up in the air again. I love reading my favourite authors books, of course, but just sometimes you feel like you know what's coming next...there's something about these authors you know you love but your just don't know for sure!
Anyway, on to the story.... Not my usual brand of dark. There are some triggery moments but generally it's all about the emotions. River is one of the best female leads I have read for a long time. I just love her! She's fierce, strong and determined. Self sufficient and bossing her life but then she's a little bit broken, and soft and god I just want to hug her so hard! The men in her life...🥵🥵. I mean, what a lucky girl! How is she going to choose? Childhood best friend? Heartbroken stranger? Rich, dominant escortee? I hope she's doesn’t to have pick just one! That would be a blast.
So, basically, brilliant read and I CANNOT WAIT for the next installment! Go grab your copy ASAP!
I really like how this starts with zero preamble with an interesting client. River "Rose" Fox definitely leads an interesting life. It may not be a traditional career choice, but I appreciate that she embraces it and does what she feels she must.
My head suddenly feels lighter, and I’m no longer Rose. I’m River again.
I do love that even when things go sideways, she perseveres. Aside from with her loved ones, she doesn't back down on tough conversations, be it a jealous ex, a business associate, or a client.
As for the men in her life, not surprisingly, she has some things going on there. First up is her childhood love, best friend, and occasional lover, Kai Briggs. I'm not a fan. He's too... what's the word?... selfish will have to do. His actions don't line up with their supposed destiny.
Next up is the very fine billionaire, Tyler Walker. Mmm... yeah, there's only one unfortunate downside to him from Rose's perspective. The other parts are very enticing. Yeah, I'm a bit partial to him.
Then we have the neighborhood guy, Nathaniel "Nate" Reed, who is close to friend zoning himself but seems like a good guy in need of a second chance at love. Even if he isn't right for River, I like their budding relationship.
Lastly, we have the unknown stalker who leaves extremely... unconventional... and creepy "gifts." On one hand, I'm curious where this goes. On the other hand, I want him to just fade away. *shivers*
This isn't a safe book, nor is it a traditional romance. There's plenty of dirty fun, several kinks, and a few crossed lines.
I'm intrigued enough to want to see what comes next. The next book sounds very promising. 😉
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator, Lenox Louis, is great. I love the sass and attitude that comes flying across my earbuds (definitely listen with those on).
Oh this is some spicy goodness with an intriguing storyline. I’m so glad a book bestie recommended this series to me. Easy quick read, that hooks you effortlessly.
So far so good. The world and character building is going well and it’s definitely easy to read. My brain is already trying to figure out what is going on and I’m excited to see where it goes
“I want to take care of you. I want to be everything to you. Because, Rose, I swear to f*ck, you are perfect for me.”

Evaluation: Overall, I thought this book was pretty okay. But there were a few moments that surprised me, like when I found out there was actually two authors who wrote this book. Of course, I tried to attempt and figure out which author was writing (I miserably failed). I appreciated River/Rose being such a strong female role. And I loved how the authors created River/Rose as this flawed and imperfect character who needs to not only figure out what she wants but come to terms with her vulnerability. There are three love interests River's childhood crush/best friend, a client of hers, this newly divorced rich mogul, and a widowed man whom she met a grocery store. This is the first book in The Escort Series I do plan to continue this series to not only see who River/Rose chooses but how she develops as a character.
This book popped up as a suggestion in KU. Let me tell ya, I was hooked from the first page. River is my girl.. I’m slightly jealous of her. I was so excited to read this book that I shared a screen shot of page 1 with my friends and in a few different book groups I follow.
River.. is definitely a champion and puts a brave face on regardless of what is thrown her way. I absolutely love her family. Petal has such a beautiful aura and I loved her immediately. This book has all the 🌶️🥵 and plot. I’m diving immediately into book two.
Wow, this book starts off with a bang and keeps on going. Definitely dark and twisted, but a lot of love and sweetness in there too, (I'm looking at you CAG). Cannot wait for the next book!
So not only do we have to try to solve the mystery of who these two authors are, now we have a whole new mystery on our hands with this series. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book but I found that I quite enjoyed it. There was a story, mystery, I enjoyed the characters and I definitely enjoyed the steam.
I was pleasantly surprised with how into the story I was. It’s not full of extensive world building, it centers more on characters and their lives. However, the authors did a great job capturing your attention and it was easy to become invested in their lives. I know who my favorites are, I have my theories and I have talked about these theories with other people.
I couldn’t be happier to learn that this will be a fairly quick release series and I am very ready for the next book.
The Rich One one was pretty good! I honestly have no idea how this series is gonna end. The Escort is set up so that there are so many potential love interests and I could see her choosing any one of them. And that’s exciting! I’m a little sad about who she kicked to the curb this book (no spoilers), he was my favorite!
There’s also a stalking/murder side plot, so this book definitely has a darker side. I’ll be interested to find out what that’s about in the next books.
I read this 2 years ago and DEVOURED it. Now I’m rereading it & I’m so happy to confirm that I STILL LOVE it. This is sexy & a ride with the fact that she’s a professional escort. Yet this is a much deeper story than at first glance. The way the authors mix the allure of sex and money with her real life problems and reasons for her choice of job gives this depth. And then we get the thrill factor with the weird calls & that DISGUSTING gift.
This just has everything I could want from a spicy story! I didn’t want to put it down and I’m already reading the second one. THAT ENDING?! Thank god this is a completed series.
Also, this FMC is one of my faves. She’s a boss 💪 but feminine and sexy. I respect her choices and the way she shoulders everything with her family.
My heart is broken for Tyler ❤️🩹 I do really love him. Kai? He can suck a D.
Once again - I started reading something without checking into it first. I realized this is spread over like 5 or six books and she has all these potential love interests. It sounds a lot like a love triangle. For one thing - I don't like love triangles, squares, or any other shapes. I also don't like committing to a series that freaking long. Jesus - why can't author's just put out one freaking book anymore instead of all these trilogies, etc. Anyway -
The Rich One by @author.n.o.one The Escort Volume 1
I know I know I'm way late to the game here but I'm catching up I swear, and if you haven't started this series yet, don't wait, stop what you're doing and dive right in I promise you won't be disappointed!
What. A. Ride.
Wooooooow 🤯🤯
I didn't really know what to expect from this book/series but man am I glad I've finally gotten my teeth into it! As soon as I started I couldn't put it down! The plot, the writing style, the characters, every was on POINT.
River/Rose has shot up to be one of my favourite female characters EVER! She's smart, sassy, driven, relatable, her inner monologues were so beautifully written, everything she felt I felt, I laughed, I cried, my stomach fell into my ass, and my heart broke, then I laughed again.
And don't ask me who I'm rooting for her to end up with because omg I honestly don't know, I loved all the guys and I was trying really really hard not to get attached to any of them 😂 but of course that's easier said than done!
These two authors (whoever you are 👀) have become a firm favourite and I can't wait to dive into the next book! You can tell how much blood, sweat, and tears they put into this story because it bled from the pages and directly into my soul 🖤
This follows River, a family girl who will do everything she can to look out for the ones she loves, even if that means living a double life. Becoming Rose, a high class esscort. But being in love with her childhood bestfriend, can she keep her family life away from her "working" life? Or will it all crumble?
The storyline gripped me and I couldn't put it down, the way the FMC has to portray some many different faces for different people is impressive. But I feel sorry for her because I know she just wants to be loved. By the one person who she denies herself.
Will definitely be reading the next book because the bombshell at the end!? What!!
Won the ebook giveaway! Lol, this starts w/ brief pegging & golden showers by a high-end escort. Side note: I’ve never seen such beautiful ebook formatting so know it’s custom, almost a vampiric elegance in the font and spacing. W/ such an intro, you wouldn’t expect such immediate, well-woven back story of being homeschooled (so smart) and doting on her brother (to the point I wrongly assume he’s special needs). Very New Yorky w/ the MC’s g!rL b0ss mindset and Wall St playboys. Anyway, she’s long-time friends with benefits to Staten Island Kai, who’s a strange mix of sentimental suburbanite and construction worker. A.K.A. too traditional for MC River to want to confess her job to. Even when she keeps getting phone calls with heavy breathing and screams. The book does a good job hinting at many possible suspects: the sweet old neighbor, the Italian grocery store guy, her ex-friend who slept w/ her childhood crush, any of her jet-setting clients w/ something to conceal.
As far as cons goes, it’s rather personal: I’m not into stereotypical fit guys or girls who are aggressive in a non-feminine/funny way. The sense of humor is also rather specific, coming off like inside allusions to the authors’ (there are two) friend circles. Though, just as often, the one-liners glide in the prose perfectly. Especially that joke about how a client’s ex-wife should be wearing darker lipstick for all the sh!t she’s talking. Oh, and nor am I into all the a$$ stuff that sounds like it will lead to infections, the casual refrain of “like a pro” in sex scenes—though I like the sweeter-sounding soliloquy bits around the cunnilingus scene 25% in. At such a point, we’ve hardly seen more than two sentences (the novel’s opening) that aren’t just mainstream “rough” sex. The guys names are so geeky, pansy-like: Nathaniel, Kai, Tyler, Everest. They’d be cool in a normal book but they’re the opposite of sexy.
The title of this book refers to her Hamptons’ date who hires her to make his ex jealous at company parties. His name is Tyler and his dialogue sounds too storybook/erotic romantic, verbose. Ex. who would say their ex’s legs “spread treacherously” in real life? Really has me roll my eyes on top of the cardboard billionaire trope. Nothing about him even says millionaire. Having a driver is the biggest flaunt and it’s so basic, so feels like wasted potential. Which reminds me, I wish there were as vivid descriptions of luxurious things or how the women look, as there are silky summaries of emotions. Nonetheless, the pace is top-notch, plot always propelling, and exposition being dropped sleekly in the right spots. Halfway in, we do get unique gore. How this ties in w/ the mysterious texts, the other client’s ex, and how revenge should be exacted on everybody including the mamasan will be interesting. Yet she hardly seems up for it at first. And she’s had a huge physical, traumatic event and we’re to believe she’s so physical in a week, not limping everywhere? Just a medium cut takes me 3 weeks to heal.
Here’s where the hippie cult she grew up in starts to unfold. It’s what made her brother so lazy financially and her bond to FWB Kai so strong after losing her parents. 90% in and we get another mad gross surprise! Love it, there’s such a puzzle to fidget w/. I have a few guesses on people close to her being suspects but feel the authors would find that too obvious or w/ weird time constraints/motives. I’m pretty confident it’s not her, but I don’t like her brother’s dippy wife and felt the typo of “die”ing colors, coupled w/ the inappropriate mutilation joke, hinted at even more loose screws. Even her bro and self too soon drop the concern & WTFness of the incident. Guess we’ll find out in book 2…or 5!
are you freaking kidding me?! thank god the next book is out or i’d be losing my mind. that ending has me feeling all sorts of things.
okay for real though. holy smokes. i just read this in one sitting. start to finish; i couldn’t stop. i had to know and i have so many questions.
i found myself rooting for Tyler even though I want her to end up with Kai haha. i wished that she could just be truthful with Kai and they’d figure everything out but we all know he’d be big mad about her job.
I love reading new authors (at least I think they are new ☺️), it’s exciting because I don’t know how they will tell a story. But let me tell you, this story is not for the meek. From the first paragraph you know this story is going to be spicy, but it’s so much more than that.
River has been taking care of her brother anyway she can, and right now she’s doing that by being a highly paid escort. This story shadows River’s life and we get a behind the scenes look at what she’s really going through. Her emotional ties to a boy/man from her past, her financial ties to a handsome billionaire client, and her newfound friendship to the man from the candy aisle. We also get a glimpse at the darker not so steamy side of that life.
This is part of a series so it must be read first before you dive into the rest, and it does end in a cliffhanger as well, but don’t let that stop you! I am really excited to see where this story goes and I’m even more excited to see exactly who N.O. One is!!
Take the trigger warnings seriously if you have triggers. This is dark. This is uncomfortable. This is steamy AF. This is no newbie author(s). The Blonde one and the Brunette one....maybe someday we will know who they are but let me tell you, they know how to write...how to suck you into the story. Is this your everyday high end escort story? Not in the least. There are many situations happening to River/Rose and you find yourself rooting for her to find her special someone who can easily be one of several people. (and no...they aren't ALL getting it on at the same time...yet anyway). River is intriguing and I can't wait to see where N.O. One takes her next.
My heart broke for River/ Rose , the front she puts on for others to make them happy , but inside she feels the strain , the loneliness, the heartbreak. I desperately want this poor woman to get her Hea. She is selfless, but no one knows that , which is how she wants it .
I really , really want Tyler to have his HEA too .
I’m unsure about Nathaniel…… have I read to many of these books to believe a sweet man is just that , a sweet man ? Lol
Be sure to check the trigger warnings at the beginning of this book. This book is dark, and it takes you on an emotional roller coaster. That being said, it was fantastic! These authors definitely know how to write and hold your attention. This book has suspense, a fierce FMC and is definitely not lacking in the spice department. I can not wait for the next book!!
Oooooooh, I really liked this book and flew right through it. There’s a ton of drama and it’s honestly messy asf, but in an enjoyable way.
The thing is, I went in thinking this was gonna be a why choose and after some more research, that’s not gonna be the case. I’m going to have to pick this series up at a later time when the mood calls for it.
This was a fun one to read. Lots of questions throughout and at the end. Scenes are HAF 🦋 I like River and look forward to the next book for answers. I have a strong feeling these authors may be some of my favorites. Love the anonymity a lot 😉
After a long time, this one has been a read that really doesn't follow the typical tropes yet was such a page Turner and a gripping ride for me.
I think I've hardly stopped turning the pages right from when I started this one. River, she might have made an unusual career choice for making a living and definitely has questionable mindset sometimes but that girl won me over within minutes.
There's just something absolutely real about River even when she's Rose that had me liking her but also admiring her.
Three choices and oh my goodness are they one freaking difficult decision but all three men were Yummyness loaded.
There's drama and suspense and hot spice as we drool along with River over the irresistible men in her life.
But my heart definitely goes to him. You'll know when you read the book as I thought from all the others I would definitely choose him over and over again.
Yet I did understand and felt for River and her choices and how difficult and different it was for her because of the life she leads and her profession.
I'm so freaking addicted to this story now and I need to find out what happens next especially after that heartbreaking ending but also what about the mysterious happenings and who's it gonna be finally for River. Absolutely loved this one. Definitely need more of this series. Onto the next one now. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is book one in The Escort series and took me on a roller coaster of a ride. First, this book comes with warnings and straight out of the gate shows us why - so be cautious of said warnings. That said, if you still dare to enter this dark and twisted journey, this is my no spoilers take on it. Our main character is escort Rose - aka River in real life. While I appreciate that the author delivers a complex, multi-faceted main character, this one gave me whip lash at her back-and-forth strength and vulnerability with her star-crossed soul mate. There was more than once that I wanted her to get mad at him. Then there is the rich one, and well - I couldn't help but fall a little for him, Again, she's a mix of trusting and standoff with him which was so confusing. More men than I can hardly keep up with and on top of all that there is danger and mystery that has you wondering, because someone must know both sides of the double life, she leads but who on earth could it be and who could be this ruthless? Well written and narrated with overall good characters and a storyline that can go in any number of directions and I'm eager to see where book 2 will lead.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read.
The book takes off already in an erotic/fetish scene and I was flabbergasted, filthy 😂. I gasped, giggled and guessed throughout the book. River is a strong, independent, witty woman who knows exactly who she is. She unapologetically stands in her truth. Despite her demons and the trauma she goes through, she still holds her head high. She gives herself grace and feels her feelings knowing the next day will be a new day. At first she’s torn between the men in the beginning and at moments I would find myself leaning towards 1 over the others until more things happen and then I lean towards the other guy. And it’s tough because they all seem like great guys, how the heck to choose?! Definitely ends on a cliffhanger but luckily the next book is out already which then had me realizing I signed up for a 6 book series sheesh.
Tropes: escort, strong FMC Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ TW: Definitely review this
