Cicely Mary Barker was the illustrator who created the famous Flower Fairies; those ethereal smiling children with butterfly wings. As a child she was influenced by the works of the illustrator Kate Greenaway, whom she assiduously copied in her formative years. Her principal influence, however, was the artwork of the Pre-Raphaelites.

In this book, the fairies are planning a last minute feast to celebrate with their friends. However, how will the guest be able to attend the feast through the forest? The beautifully illustrated book is filled with pop-ups along with a final pop up with built-in lights. I thought the book was beautifully done but, by the time, I got this new book the batteries stopped working. Sadly, there is no way to replace the batteries. Overall, a fun and entertaining read for the little ones.

My favorite among the series. It has gorgeous illustrations and once again, the colors (see my other reviews on this series of books). It's simple, it's bright, it's magical, and it has rich, vivid colors. And it centers on lights. What a fun bedtime read for a child. As many have complained, the lights are not replaceable, which can be frustrating as it is a book celebrating fireflies. For me, that's no longer the fault of the story/book, but the engineering (?) of it.

This is another beautiful book on fairies. The fairies decide to have a midnight feast party, and the entire book centers on that. There is again beautiful artwork and various pop-ups. The inside back pages have a special pop-ups with lights.

This book probably has some of the most beautiful artwork of all these oversized fairy books. Definitely a must for your collection.

I love this book, because it is so pretty. It has pop-up pictures and lights. My very nice neighbor gave it to me.
