Hell's Fire Burning #3

Hellcat Ascending: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance

Rate this book
It’s funny the way life works; one minute you’re in Hell, next you’re ruling over a city you don’t want while the Devil hunts you down, and then, suddenly, you’re in Heaven.
Or maybe that’s just me.
The fun doesn’t end here, though. Not content to bring down one world with his egomaniac shit, Ronin has decided to bring Heaven, Hell, and even the realm of Death down with him.
But there’s something Ronin doesn’t know. I’m not the trapped, helpless hellsoul he once tortured… I’m learning things about myself that I never imagined—not just about my past, but about my future, too.
I’ve spent long enough confused. I’ve played their games. I’ve fallen for their traps. Shit, I’ve made some fresh traps of my own, inspired by their lies.
Now, I’m hauling myself out of this pit, once and for all. And I’m taking my demons with me.

Warning: Hellcat Ascending is a reverse harem novel with multiple love interests and a HEA. Intended for mature readers, it contains dark fantasy elements regarding violence and assault, along with sexual content that some readers may find offensive. Please proceed with caution.

Jade Bones is a paranormal romance and reverse harem author who loves writing about tempting, swoon-worthy supernatural men and the (equally swoon-worthy) women who steal their hearts. More than just the romance, Jade especially loves to create worlds that mix together gritty urban aesthetics with surreal, dream-like magic.

When she isn't writing, you can find her drinking tea, cuddling her dog, or taking tarot far too seriously.

This third and final book in the "Hell's fire burning" trilogy gives readers all the answers they've been waiting for throughout the first two books. I highly enjoyed this trilogy, mainly because the worldbuilding is really intriguing. In this book the focus is mainly on heaven, and the places souls go to right after death, and both are fascinating places. I love the way this author uses well known paranormal creatures and gives them her own personal touch. Reapers, angels, vampires, demons, shifters, ...; none of those are exactly the way you would expect.

Last but not least, I can't help but mentioning Lucifer. I loved the fact that he got a more important role in this final book and got absolutely ecstatic to find out he'll get his own trilogy. He's one of my abolute favorite Lucifer's ever, and although he's a side character in this series, his presence made the books even better.

If you like paranormal RH series, and prefer a different take to the classical paranormal characters, I highly recommend reading this series.

Good Book

I liked this one, not as much as the previous ones but I think I think it was a good series ender. There was a lot of times where I didn’t understand what was being said, even after I re read a few previous pages. I felt like I was playing catch up. The fmc is very wishy washy in this book. The minor misunderstanding of what the guys were feeling and saying should have easily been transparent. The fmc is super smart and has a moral compass that should have caught on to their reasonings long before she did. I wasn’t sure how I felt with her going to heaven at the end of the 2nd book, and I’m glad she wasn’t up there for even half the book. Ciera, was a mystery. There is a plot hole there that wasn’t concluded and I wonder if it’s leaving the book open for a spin off. I swear I thought Ciera was talking about Isabelle. Another few clues that Cat should have saw through. It ended well. It wasn’t as climatic as some stories but I think it was the perfect ending for her and her guys. They were going through some heavy things, and I’m glad that it worked out the way it did for them. They needed the win.

Just grew bored with the mystery etc aspect like with the mains seperated (from vague memory) i just didnt feel connected or rather invested in the political like big mystery aspect of it all. Like idk i feel like authors tend to think of some issue or whatever to complicate or worse seperate the relationship as soon as it develops... and throw a spanner in the works and take away what is enjoyable about the book and any satisfaction if finally having the mains on the same page and idk i just im tired of series always doing this and its really great series too. Like im not expecting disney or hallmark happy go lucky but ffs im not reading rh books for intrigue if i wanted that id do mystery thrillers i mean even cosy mysterys have more goodness and stability than rhs these days. Its like splitting up the scooby gang. Why would you watch otherwise. Thats what makes it work the dynamics. Without the key players together on the same page its just annoying.

It took me a few months to finish this trilogy (for some reason, I got sidetracked by other books between Fighting and Ascending) so I got a little confused at points, which may have impacted my enjoyment of the finale.
I loved the additional locations that the main characters visited in this book, some of that information added a lot to the story.
Lucifer being more involved in the third book was a lot of fun. His character gets a spin off trilogy and it would be fun to read that, based solely off his delightfully evil personality.
Unfortunately, I feel like Cat's 3 princes didn't have as much personality in this one as they did in previous books? But it was nice to get a conclusion that was quite plot focused, since there was a fair bit to wrap up.
I'd give the whole trilogy 4 stars. A solid introduction to Jade Bones as an author, and looking forward to reading more of her work!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

This is a fantastic end to what has been an incredible trilogy. Cat has been on quite the emotionally wrenching journey as this has all played out. Being away from her guys has been a lot harder then she thought it would be. Add in a surprise twist as well as few other secrets to get one satisfying ending for this group. While their main story may have ended we have been promised more from this world. I cannot wait to see what it is. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Wow!

Well, this particular book was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for Cat, but in the end all things fell into place. This is an interesting series with great characters..... even the ones that you want to slap them upside their heads a couple of times! I honestly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend

Cat's journey is a long one in 'Hellcat Ascending'. She comes to terms of her past along with her self acceptance. It did take a while for me to get through the story as for about 85% of the book is chasing their tails and Ronin. The final battle was worth the wait with a well deserved HEA for all.

Love it

Cats story was perfect with each time she uncovered something about herself the more questions left. I was sad when we found she was dying. She went through sooo much and lucifer I think he knew all the pieces but realized he needed help from the princes to catch the usurper. Such a great story ❤️

Throughout the previous two books Jade Bones, has built an elaborate and vivid world and has not disappointed with this book. This is well written, ties up the series well and gives us a better look at certain characters. This by far has been my favorite addition to the Hell's Fire Burning series.

😻

There was a lot I did not understand. But the parts I did I enjoyed. For some reason I was hoping for her to have a connection with Lucifer too. Btw what happened to the seraphs?

A happy ending

I really enjoyed Cat's story arc and discovery of herself. This book had something to offer in terms of a philosophical exploration of souls and the split self. Surprising for what I thought would just be a steamy romance!

This book was bloody brilliant! I literally couldn’t put it down, I love the plot of the book, I love how well written the book was. But most of all, I loved the characters and how great it was that the bad guys got their comeuppance in the end

I’m so excited for Cat!! The emotional journey she was on and the two previous books has finally all panned out for her, and it’s in her favor. I’m sad to see this trilogy come to an end but in this book the author answered a lot of unanswered questions that have come up throughout the series. I highly recommend this series for anyone who loves Paranormal RH!
