Jax is a music teacher and part-time musician in Alice Springs and Cassidy works in the front office of the same school. They've caught each other's eye a few times and even hooked up once. She has trust issues in her life because of an upbringing that was mostly devoid of love and caring. Her mother told her she didn't deserve a man and that did nothing but damage her self-esteem. Jax isn't a bad guy, but he's not interested in a girlfriend, someone special, being tied down or married, so he sees Cassidy only as an opportunity for a good time. I really never learned to like Jax, even when he tried to change, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Jax And Cass have a one-night-stand and she goes to the pharmacy when she realizes that she's late, and who should she run right into? Jax and another woman! Okay, it may be innocent but the look on Jax's face gave his anger away. Even once she tells him she's pregnant, he says he's all in, but words are just words. He never showed, by his actions, that she had his total support. There were some ridiculous situations that had me shaking my head, wondering what is he thinking? Jax has a "stalker" who is out to rekindle a relationship and every time she's on the page it's uncomfortable. Jax gets drunk at a barbecue (without Cassidy who's home in bed), is driven home by the OW and he trips and falls into the flower bed, flat on his back. The OW falls, straddling him, and he becomes obviously aroused. His mom, dad and Cassidy see what's happening and, instead of being a mite embarrassed, our "hero" orders Cassidy to take care of it for him! Kudos to Jax's family who let him know how stupid he is to treat Cassidy so badly. I was done with him at this point, but kept reading, refusing to DNF. With lame excuses and unbelievable behaviors, they finally get their HEA. I really wanted to like this story because it had such a good premise, but there were too many inconsistencies and errors to allow me to really enjoy it. If Jax had been a little more believable, without the dismissive behavior, this would have been a 4* read. When all is said and done, I do recommend this story!

This was Jax & Cassidy’s story. She's the shy receptionist, admiring him from afar. He's the single musician, avoiding commitment. When a chance encounter brings them together, sparks fly. Too bad they won't see each other again ...Will they? This was an intriguing read. And am voluntarily leaving my review.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Cassidy and Jax and does not let go. The story keeps us turning the pages with unrequited love, heartbreak, hope and love.
