The Brotherhood #2

Unwritten Rules

Rate this book
Tall, dark and handsome as sin.
With a smile that speaks to my soul.

Nathaniel Hawthorne is the epitome of the perfect man.

But 12 years older and worlds wiser, my brother’s best friend doesn’t long for me the way I crave him.
He made that crystal clear when I kissed him last year, spurring him to leave London.

To leave me.

Missing his guiding presence, I try to put aside these unrequited feelings, but I screw up.
I do something I can’t take back, and from which there would be far-reaching consequences should the truth come to light.

Despite our months of radio silence, I instinctively reach for the person I trust most, and true to form, Nathaniel doesn’t hesitate.
He’s ready and willing to slay my demons alongside his own when he whisks me away to his childhood estate.

Our bond, once vulnerable, grows stronger by the day, but the unwritten rules of friendship stand.

Yet, something feels different.

How his eyes caress me, how his hands touch me, how right his body feels beside mine at night—this can’t be mere friendship.
Might my feelings be reciprocated?

Could there be a way to break all the rules and still find a happily ever after…

Together?

Unwritten Rules is the second book in the standalone interconnected Brotherhood series. It is a dual POV, spicy contemporary romance with themes suitable for readers aged 18 and over.

Round One (Beta Review):

Unwritten Rules is marvellous! If you are aiming for a super angsty, forbidden love story that hooks the reader early, strings us along so determinedly that you could lead us to Timbuktu, and releases so much steam that we need wipers for our glasses? Nailed it!

Round Two (ARC Review):

Nathaniel Hawthorne is a fool. A handsome, sexy, highly intelligent and thoughtful fool, but misguided nonetheless. Having met his soulmate and becoming her friend, protector, and confidant, he absolutely refuses to succumb to his physical urge to claim her - body, heart, and soul. He thinks he’s not worthy of Heaven, and he won’t risk his Brotherhood with Henry DeMarco by giving in to his base desires.

“𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺.” “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”

Mila DeMarco is confused but determined. The nineteen year-old English Lit student may have received mixed signals from her older brother’s best friend, but she was sure he felt the same lust that she feels in her core whenever she sees his chocolate brown eyes, his strong forearms, or his indecently closely-tailored dress pants. A desperate mistake has her rushing into his arms again, and this time she is determined to pursue a love worth living with her Professor Hawthorne.

“𝘙𝘶𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘦. 𝘞𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘮𝘦. 𝘋𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦. 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘺, 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘭.”

Pamela O’Rourke is amazingly gifted writer, delivering an emotional story that gripped me helplessly in its snare. I loved all the highs and lows, from Mila‘s sharp wit doing battle with basic b*tches, to villains who seem to get the better of the couple. I felt the joy, the steam and the despair … deeply, minutely, thoroughly.

“𝘐’𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐’𝘮 𝘴𝘰 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘶𝘱.”

Pamela can take me for a ride anytime! Don’t miss out!

Another fantastic book from Pamela, she really has a way with words. I really enjoyed the push and pull between Nate and Mila in this book.

Nate is best friends with Henry and Caden (Henry is in painted truths by one in this interconnected series.) He has a special bond with Mila, who is Henry's little half sister. Nate and Mila have chemistry but Nate fights it with every bit of strength he has, he doesn't want to cross the line, considering Mila is a lot younger than him and also his best friends little sister. This book is full of angst which I loved.

Well done Pamela.

I absolutely LOVE Pam's writing. That woman is a unicorn and I remain in awe that this is only her SECOND release. She writes like a seasoned author of many years and her writing just flows so poetically. It's smooth, it's soothing and it always, but always HITS RIGHT.

If you haven't read the first book in the series - Painted Truths - please run to read it! Aside from the fact that it's amazing, it adds depth to this book. While it can be read as a complete standalone too - it will spoil elements for book 1 for you, so just beware if you do plan on reading the first book at any stage (WHICH YOU SHOULD!!).

This book follows Nathaniel Hawthorne, the best friend of Mila's DeMarco's older brother, Henry. While the two have known each other for a while, tragedy brings these two together and an unlikely friendship forms. But when feelings develop, the two toe a dangerous line.

I LOVED every minute of this story. The flow and pacing was excellent. While it's told in the present day, we get flashbacks to their history, which were so well done and added so much depth to the story. I absolutely loved these two MCs together and separately. Mila is an absolute queen with a spine of steel. Her confidence was everything and so was her vulnerability. Nate is the definition of swoony. He was broody, regal and downright sexy. Their friendship was beautiful and the relationship was built as a result even more so. Their intimate moments were also so so special

Folks, prepare yourselves because this book is seriously STEAMY and ANGSTY and it was built up so brilliantly. I went through all of the emotions and by chapter 38 I was a sobbing mess. I'm still recovering.

I do want to say one thing though, and that if you have read Painted Truths - it is an ENTIRELY different story!! Please don't go in expecting Painted Truths, because they're not the same book. The MCs are different as is the frequency of spice. Nate is regal and swoony while Henry is a dominant alpha. Painted Truths had a lot of smut, while Unwritten Rules less so because the story doesn't necessarily call for it. So just be mindful. And although different, they are equally brilliant!! While I love them both, Unwritten Rules just holds such a special place in my heart. I'm an absolute hoe for an emotional read and this was just spectacular.

This is a MUST MUST read for contemporary romance lovers out there and you should ALL pick it up once it releases on 30 November 2022!

This book!!! I was not prepared for such intensity. Nate and Mila, the brother's best friend, forbidden love, forced proximity for the good. Oh this is just so much more. The love and pain poured into this book is nothing iv read before. Pure unadulterated love Mila has for Nate and Nate having his integrity intact to not mess with Mila, they are truly made for each other. I lost my shit 75% in but oh god so worth it. This book is just so gut wrenching-ly amazing i can't say more. Don't skip on reading this too late. Dive right in. If Henry was amazing Nate is so much more!!! Pamela!!! This was amazing!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I had the honour of beta reading Unwritten Rules, the second book in the Brotherhood series. Pam delivered yet another incredible story. This brother’s best friend, friends to lovers, slow burn romance was full of angst, steam and love. I could not tell you how ecstatic I was when Pam decided to bring Nate’s book forward. This hot as sin writer caught my eye in Painted Truths (book 1) and I already knew his story was going to be brilliant. Needless to say, it surpassed all of my expectations.

Nate was a handsome, gifted and successful author in his prime. However, his fiance betrayed him with his father and it completely shattered his confidence. He left with a broken heart and turned to teaching literature at a university, where he reunited with his best friend’s sister and soulmate, Mila.

Sweet, fun and determined, Mila was still recovering from a recent tragic event. Nate looked after her and she developed a crush on him. She craved his love and was desperate to make her feelings known, hoping he would reciprocate. Nate had known Mila’s brother for as long as he could remember. He was his oldest friend, confidante and chosen family. Not wanting to risk their brotherhood, he decided to keep his distance and stay away from Mila.

Despite months of radio silence, the first person Mila thought of reaching out to when she got herself into a sticky situation was Nate. He did not hesitate to help her and vowed to be her protector. Over time, feelings deepened and boundaries crossed. From longing gazes, secret touches to stolen kisses, a unique bond was formed. It grew stronger day by day and soon they found themselves falling for one another. Their friendship blossomed into something more.

Pam hit the nail on the head in delivering the emotions, the highs, the lows and everything in between. Mila and Nate had undeniable chemistry and they brought out the best in each other. I was rooting for them from the get-go and having to see them fight their attraction was agonising. The push and pull drove me nuts but it was so worth it when they finally pursued the love they both deserved.

**ARC REVIEW**
⭐⭐⭐⭐
4.5 Stars

“You’re my once-in-a-lifetime. You’re my miracle. Your heart is my home, Hellcat.” His swirling eyes flicker as they absorb each of my features when his breath ghosts across my lips, and his words speak straight to my heart. “Please, Hellcat. Let me come home.”

This book had a different feel to book one in this series. A best friends to lovers, slow burn romance with a rom-com feel. Again, Pam has written this book with such precision, making it easy to read and executing it like she's been writing for years. This story was tender and slow, like an Irish stew. It had warmth with lots of love that wasn't surface level, but deep within your bones love level.

Mila was just beautiful in this book; intense, talented, super fun, and super sweet. She hands down is the best friend you can ever have and the girl loves to cook, and shes good at it too. Esthetically stunning with her dark hair, green/gold eyes, and a body that will bring any man to his knees. She had to bury her feelings deep in this book but once they touch the surface, it's a pleasure to witness her and her beloved Nate together.

Nate, bloody Nate!! Gah, he is just hotter than the gods with his dark hair, mocha-coloured eyes and the body that will melt your panties. Has the brains of a nerdy professor, incredibly talented and educated to take on students of literature and write manuscripts. But even more talented at wearing masks to cover his heartache and loss of his past! Dont ask me how Pam was able to fit his heart inside this book, because it was raw, bleeding and yearning to be loved. The words he used the set Mila's heart on fire made me giddy, the longing knowing one touch would destroy him, the hurt of wanting what his eyes touched but his hands couldn't.....just all gah!!!!

The tension in this book was on FIRE and slow burn was the main ingredient. If you are patient to wait, and I know you will be, Nate is an incredible lover. He is talented with all body parts, especially his heart. A total sweetheart through and through, enough to make you melt into a massive puddle. His story is a bit of a sad one, but don't worry, we get the gorgeous HEA that we are all craving!

Set in the POV of both characters, with all the usual gang present. The epilogue sets up book three perfectly and now we play the waiting game for read Caden's story.

I loved Painted Truths with Henry, but this one absolutely blew it away. Pamela absolutely knocked this one out of the park. Nathaniel and Mila are just soooo.. swoon worthy and deserve all the happiness. This one continues on after Painted Truths and the scary kidnapping that happens in that one. Not only was Nathan dealt a shitty hand at life, he manages to fall for his best friend’s little sister but is too afraid to lose said friend, so he pushes her away by being an ass and then proceeds to move away. That is until Mila call hims crying one night because she needs to escape, to hide from what’s currently plaguing her life.

SO. The tropes we see? Friends to lovers. Forced proximity. One bed. Forbidden. Best friend’s little sister.

Want to fall in love with a broken man before reading this? Here you go: Nathaniel walked in on his fiancee and his father having sex - after that horrid affair, he could no longer write (he was a published and successful author). AND, the bitch went on to marry his dad. Like Nathan deserved SO much more and seeing him with Mila and how she cares so much for him… it made me so very happy that they both got their HEA.

The story of Nathaniel and Mila was too good to put down. Nathaniel doesn’t want to want his best friend and best friend's little sister but can’t let go of his love for her. When Mila comes back into his life after a kiss that sent Nathaniel running there is no denying their chemistry.

Nathaniel tries to keep his feelings for Mila under control but Mila finally pushes him to his limits. When they give in to what they both want it’s everything I hoped for. This book had some twists and events that made Nathaniel and Mila put their love for one another to the test. But I was rooting for them to give their love story and truly come out of it together.

Unwritten Rules is a Brother's best friend, friends to lovers, forbidden angsty romance. it is full of great twists and turns that captured my attention from the first page. I felt all the emotions that Pamela was trying to convey within the book. I sobbed at 75%...
There are also wonderful side characters'

I am looking froward to Cadens' book

Nate and Mila’s story is so intricately woven. Fighting their feelings, letting worries about where loyalties lie, and ultimately sacrificing their own happiness for the other. They are the true love story of fighting their feelings for what they think is the greater good only to realize true love, soulmates, no matter how much you protest will always find a way to each other. Pamela has such a way with words and pulls you into her characters world, you feel as though you are living the story with them.

🔥🔥🔥

“No amount of time with you will ever be enough. Minutes, hours, days, weeks, month…fuck, millennia doesn’t even come close to being enough, baby. Now I’ve experienced Heaven in your arms, I can’t- and I fucking won’t- go back to the life I once had.”

I’ve been waiting for this book since I finished Painted Truths and it was definitely worth the wait. I couldn’t put this book down.

What would you do if the one person you want is off limits? Do you distance yourself or take what you want? That is the question that Nate has to deal with when it comes to his best friend little sister, Mila. They have known each other a long time but it wasn’t until the life changing event happen three years ago that their friendship grew and feelings start to develop. Nate has become Mila’s anchor after everything happens. Throughout the years he would do about anything for her and with her, he never says no until the night she tries to kiss him and tell her he not into little girls. Mila is Henry younger sister and she has always loved Nate but it only grows the older she gets. They haven’t seen each other in a few months so when she called him for help, he doesn’t hesitate to go to her. Nate has been trying to keep his feeling for her under control so he doesn’t just ruin his friendship with Henry but Mila as well. Their chemistry and banter is just amazing from the beginning to the end. Their friendship is amazing and I love that it’s the foundation to their relationship. I love just how overprotective and possessive they are of each other. So when Mila breaks the last bit of control Nate has left and they give in to what they both have wanted for so long it explosive. They definitely didn’t disappoint in the spice department, the library and the woods scene was everything.
I love Mila confidence but also how open she was with him about fears & feelings and how Nate was grumpy & closed off after everything he has been through with his family but with Mila he’s happy just to be near her. I love the flashbacks of them that are sprinkled in throughout the story it just enhances the characters so much more. The story has tension, a slow burning love that can’t be extinguished and two broken main characters that are perfect for her each other.

I absolutely can’t wait for Caden’s book!!

I would recommend if you like:
💛Friends to Lovers
💛Age Gap
💛Brothers best friend
💛Slow Burn
💛Steamy scenes🔥

A special thanks to Pamela for giving me an ARC to review!!!

Mila and Nate her brother’s friend have become friends. He helps her get through a tough time. The only problem is that they both are secretly attracted to each other. Nate is over ten years older and Henry Mila’s brother would kill him. The more time they spend together the more the it becomes harder to fight. There are so many things against them. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended. Amazing book. I absolutely love Nate and Mila and the supporting characters are amazing. I want them as my friends. Great story and spice.

So you would never believe this was @pamela second book in her debut series.... Nathaniel Hawthorne & Mila DeMarcos story is 👌🏻

This book has lots of your favourite tropes. Slow burn, angst, friends to lovers, forbidden love, age gap, best friends little sister, professor... I could go on 🤣👌🏻

I don't want to give too much away with my review but prepare yourselves for one hell of a slow burn... at points I wanted to shake Nate to stop denying himself what he so badly needed.. everytime I thought he was going to give in, oh no... he ran!! 😣

Mila "hellcat" DeMarco is Henry's little sister. (He has his own book already out, Painted Truths and although not needed I'd highly suggest you read this one first in preparation for this releasing on 30th Nov as the plot will make so much more sense.)

She's stubborn, says it as it is and true to Nates nickname for her, a hellcat. I loooooved seeing her interactions with Zara, putting her well into her place making you forget shes probably atleast 10 years her junior. She held her own & she did it well. Zara, although I kind of understand her a little better now, I still stand by the fact she needs to get into the bin right alongside a certain someone else who I wont name as dont want to ruin a twist.✌🏻😂.

Nate is absolutely swoonworthy. He's looked after Mila since the kidnapping & they'd become best friends until the fateful night of Henry and Livs wedding when their feelings all come to a head. I loved the different timelines so we not only see Mila & Natez relationship now but what their friendship once was before it all went to sh*t.

It's a slow angsty start to the story but once it gets going, the plot twists begin to flow, we've got a high end sex/fighting club thrown in for good measure & by the end I had all the Notebook / Letters To Juliet vibes which is always a winner. 🥰🥺

And let's not forget Wetherby.. he absolutely stole the show for me! What an absolute bloody cutie 🥺

PS. I absolutely need Cadens story now. I feel like his is going to be a wild ride! He deffinately has a great story to tell! He needs his happy ending. 🥺🥰

I don’t even know where to begin. I think it’s safe to say after two books this author’s writing is just not for me.

The book could have been cut down by 200 pages! And the message would still have been the same. 😵‍💫

Half the time you have this “forced” forbidden push and pull between the MCs where Nate’s POV chapters are just him thinking about how Mila is the one and blah blah but he can never have her because of his friendship with her brother. 🙄so melodramatic. Brownie points for him staying celibate for years after he and his fiancé called it quits but that’s about as much credit I’ll give. And Mila was even worse with her puppy love for Nate. I enjoy a good age gap romance but I don’t know, this felt a little too ick. She’s 19 in the present but she talks about how they used to hangout, he was her best friend, and they’d watch movies and sleep next to each other platonically..all while she’s in HS. 🤔

Then when they finally get past the nonsense and decide to give it ago, they’re constantly saying I love you to one another. And the spice 💆🏻‍♀️ just wasn’t doing it. It felt cheesy, repetitive and unoriginal.

I hate his nicknames for her…littlest Demarco 🤮 and then Hellcat. I’m sorry but that name can only be used by Max Steele, and Mila is definitely no Madison Kate.

The last minute plot twist that didn’t even make sense and third act break you could see coming a mile away were so unnecessary. It was a lazy way to wrap up the story.

This book is fun, flirty, smart, sexy, and very delicious to read. This book will keep you thoroughly entertained from the start to finish. These characters are great and you will fall hard for them. They are all so captivating in their own rights!

Mila & Nate are on fire! Nate can’t want Mila she is is best friends younger sister. She has always been someone he enjoyed her company & she always kept him on his toes. She is smart, sassy, funny, and very beautiful. Nate shouldn’t want her but she’s all he can think about. Mila has been in love with Nate forever and she doesn’t care what anyone thinks about them being together. Both of them have had a hard times in their lives. There are lots of reasons they shouldn’t be together but their desire and need for each is overwhelming.

Nate has been through hell with his father and his ex fiancée. However, he will not allow that man to control him anymore and he is determined to find happiness. He knows he shouldn’t need or want Mila but she is his everything. He is done playing nice and he is determined to win her no matter what. You will throughly enjoy this book and these characters will get under your skin in all the good ways. Happy Reading!!

Oh. My. Gosh. This book was so flipping good! Yes, it was an extremely angsty, emotional read, but that’s part of what made it amazing. It will make you cry. It will also make you want to scream into the abyss… but the end result is so, so worth it. Nate and Mila’s love story was so incredibly agonizing, but at the same time, it was inevitable. I loved Nate because even with all his inner turmoil, his horror at the thought of becoming like his father, it was so obvious what a good man he was. Smart, kind… and he adored Mila, even when he was denying it. And Mila! I admire her sassy nature, her quiet strength, and the way she slowly gained confidence. I highly recommend if you love age gap romance and/or emotional reads.

Another brilliant book by Pamela O'Rourke. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend it. I would suggest reading Painted Truths first as this book builds upon some of the characters in the first book. The book is well written and from dual perspectives. I loved the ending and can't wait to read Caden's story in the next book!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Tall, dark and handsome as sin. With a smile that speaks to my soul. Nathaniel Hawthorne is the epitome of the perfect man. But 12 years older and worlds wisher, my brother's best friend doesn't long for me the way I crave by him. He made that crystal clear when I kissed him last year, spurring him to leave London. To leave me. Missing his guiding presence, I try to put aside these unrequited feelings, but I screw up. I do something I can't take back, and from which there would be far-reaching consequences should the truth come to light. Despite our months of radio silence, I instinctively reach for the person I trust most, and true to form, Nathaniel doesn't hesitate. He's ready and willing to slay my demons alongside his own when he whisks me away to his childhood estate. Our bond, once vulnerable, grows stronger by the day, be the unwritten rules of friendship stand. Yet, something feels different. How his eyes caress me, how his hands touch me, how right his body feels beside mine at night-this can't be more friendship. Might my feelings be reciprocated? Could there be a way to break all the rules and still find a happily ever after. Together?

This is a book full of angst and a forbidden brothers best friend romance. This is the second book in The Brotherhood Series of standalone books. Painted Truths is the first book and while you don't have to read it to read this book I just wanted to recommend that you read that book too because I loved it so much. There might be some spoilers for book one if you are going to read this one first. I would just start at the beginning and beside that, it was an amazing read too.
This is the story of Nate and Mila. He is best friends with her brother and she has had a thing for him for a really long time. He doesn't seem interested at all no matter how hard she tries. Until one night she makes the move and kisses him and he runs to get away from the feelings that he is fighting for his best friends half sister. Did I also mention that the guy was a professor for a time too. However, when she calls and needs him he is there for her without hesitation in his mind. However, things seem to be changing for them. Will he continue to fight his feeling or give in and see what life could be like with Mila in his as more than his best friends sister. I really loved reading this book. I loved that it has the best friends brother thing going on. I always love when a book has that aspect in it. It is full and angst and moments that just might have you swooning. You just need to grab this book and enjoy it as much as I did.

Unwritten Rules by Pamela O’Rourke.

Thank you Pamela for the ARC!

Unwritten Rules is the second book in The Brotherhood series and is Nate and Mila’s story.
It is a forbidden love, one doomed from the start as Mila is Nate’s best friends sister. A tragic event brought them closer, changing their bond. This book has a great push and pull, full of moments you’re just screaming for them to come together. It is a slow burn but worth the wait. It also has a very strong supporting cast. Some we already know and love and some we will get to know better in the future. We get a lot of insight into Nate’s past to help understand him and his choices. Pamela has a beautiful writing style, very unique and poetic. This is definitely one of those “forever love” stories and a must read.

"Knowing a life-altering love for any period of time, no matter how short-lived, is worth living a thousand lifetimes without ever having
experienced its beauty."

Description:

Together?

Unwritten Rules by Pamela O’Rourke

Ratings:
⭐️: 5/5
🌶: 3.75/5

Quote: “You’re my friend, my lover, my soulmate, and I have no doubt our spirits will find one another in every lifetime because they were created to be one. We were created to be one.”

Tropes: brother’s best friend, age gap, forbidden, friends to lovers, grumpy/wench (IYKYK), billionaire, secrets

——————————————————

Well, Pamela, you’ve done it yet again. You’ve created another hero that stole my heart from page one. Am I surprised? Nope, not at all. I suspect all your heroes are going to be my favorites.

Unwritten Rules features Mila and Nate, aka Wench and Grump, amongst other names. This story captured me from the beginning, and even though I’ve finished the story, it still has me in its grasp.

Mila is a tough woman with two protective brothers, one more so than the other *cough cough Henry cough cough*. She’s just trying to move on from her past, and live the life she chooses. Nathan is Henry’s best friend, and is trying to avoid being stuck honoring both his father and his family’s prestigious pedigree. He’s an honorable man who only wishes to do right by everyone he cares about. Even if it means sacrificing his own happiness.

Mila and Nate form an unlikely but undeniable connection after Mila was kidnapped. Their friendship meant a lot to both of them. For Mila, it’s what helped her feel alive and safe after her kidnapping. For Nate, it was a safe place for him to be his true self free of judgement. Their friendship was a precious, sacred thing, and it’s no wonder it lead to deeper feelings. Because their connection couldn’t be stopped, not even by them. It was easily felt, and so powerful. They could read each other so well with little effort. I loved everything about them, every interaction, every banter, every smile, every “your wish”. I was easily hooked and in love this entire book. I cannot recommend this book enough!

"𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙢 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙤𝙨. 𝙈𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨."

Wow!! This series just gets better.
I adored this book and loved both main characters.
The book continues from the first novel - Painted Truths and follows Mila who’s a lot younger (and Henry’s little sister) who has such a strong and beautiful personality and such a funny sense of humour and Nathaniel who is so deliciously broken but at the same time has a heart of gold and is oh so yummy. They instantly form a close friendship over a traumatic experience which was detailed in the book one. From that they form a deeper connection but are both in denial as Nate continues to choose not to listen to his true feeling.
I really enjoyed the slow burn, angst and chemistry between the two and as much as it is a romance it is also so much more than that. The dual pov makes you feel for both characters and their journey and you can’t help but want them to have their happy ending. And that plot twist - WOW!! It definitely sent me on a roller coaster of emotion!!
Like in book one the banter between the male friendship group is so good. I also loved that we saw the characters from the previous book.
I really enjoy Pamela’s writing, how she can draw out emotions and make you laugh out loud. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series “Broken Strings” which will be Caden’s story and I’m so ready for it!!!
This is quickly becoming one of my favourite series.

I want to thank Pamela for gifting me this ARC to read and review.

"The light to my dark. The calm in my chaos. My happiness."

From the moment I finished Painted Truths and knew that Nate and Mila were the next story coming from Pamela I sat on pins and needles with anticipation. Let me tell you....the wait was worth it.

Nate and Mila share this special bond from pretty much the first time they met. It is solidified when they both go through a tragedy together. Nate is there for Mila every step of the way through her healing process and although their friendship is strictly platonic he soon finds himself feeling things for her he shouldn't as he is one of her brother's best friends. Nate cannot lose Henry because he is more of a brother than just friend. When Mila finally works up the courage to show Nate how she feels he shuts her down and removes himself from her life. Ten months go by and neither Nate or Mila are living like they did when they were in each other's lives. Mila finds herself in quite the predicament and calls on Nate for help and he swoops right in to rescue her fully knowing the torment he has set himself up for.

This age gap, brother's best friend, somewhat forced proximity, slow burn story will pull at every heartstring you possess. Pamela did such a fantastic job building Nate and Mila's story. It is sweet and touching at times and then it is intense when it comes to the chemistry between them. A few little heart pounding plot twists thrown into the mix had me not wanting their story to end but I know it had to. I absolutely adore how protective not only Nate but Alex and Henry are when it comes to Mila. That girl deserves all of the love from the men in her life and Nate 100% completes her and she him.

Title: Unwritten Rules (The Brotherhood Series)
Author: Pamela O’Rourke
Hero/Heroine: Nate & Mila
Tropes: Brothers Best Friend, Friends to Lovers, Age Gap,

THE GOOD 😀

After being introduced to Nate and Mila in Painted Truths, I couldn’t wait to read their story as I knew they had one to tell. And boy did they. Full of intense chemistry, constant will they won’t they moments and sharp humour, Unwritten Rules was a wonderful follow up to the first book in The Brotherhood series.
Right from the off I knew these pair would be an incredible couple. They’d built such a strong friendship and I loved how they were always there for each other. Jumping between the past and the present, you get to see how their bond was formed, which was great as it gave a lot of depth to the story.
Nate and Mila were wonderful characters; both strong willed and determined, their banter and constant back and forth was a joy to read. The turmoil that Nate experienced throughout pretty much most of the book was heartbreaking at times, and I just wanted him to find happiness with Mila, even if it meant risking his friendship with Henry. Another part of this story I loved was the friendship between Henry, Nate and Caden. There each others found family and I adored how strong their bond was.
Unwritten Rules was a funny, steamy and, at times, an intense read that kept me hooked until the very last chapter. Very enjoyable.

THE BAD ☹️

Zara. You know where she’s going? Into the bin.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: A funny and steamy age gap romance, loved it
