Despite my ideas about the deep misogyny associated with this particular one, I’ve somehow found myself in the middle of it. Except, I’m not the good girl. I’m exceptional at playing that role. But I’m not. My secrets make sure of that. And he’s not a boy. He’s a man. Older than me by decades. An outlaw. A villain. A member of one of the most notorious MCs in the country. The Sons of Templar. More importantly, my stepfather is one of his brothers. That means I’m off limits. He’s off limits. But that doesn’t stop us. Nothing will. Not until there’s nothing left but the charred remains of the lives we once knew.
Anne Malcom has been an avid reader since before she can remember, her mother responsible for her book addiction. It started with magical journeys into the world of Hogwarts and Middle Earth, then as she grew up her reading tastes grew with her. Her obsession with books and romance novels in particular gave Anne the opportunity to find another passion, writing. Finding writing about alpha males and happily ever afters more fun than reading about them, Anne is not about to stop any time soon.
I seriously wish I could push each and every book friend of mine to read Anne Malcom. She is ridiculously talented and everyone, I mean everyone, need to read her books. Well I will keep on shouting from the rooftop till it happens. Wilting Violets is that kind of hard hitting, soul wrecking, gut wrenching and intense MC Romance that will never leave your heart. The broken and complex and edgy characters in this book are just perfectly imperfect. And her alpha heroes are honestly the most epic. And her heroines are bada## in true sense. Add the angst of a forbidden age gap romance, the adrenaline rush of a beautifully scripted romantic suspense ,all the heartbreaking feels and nuclear hot passion..it really doesn't get any better. Do me and yourself a favor. Pick Wilting Violets. Tell me if it doesn't make you want to read her full blacklist.
Violet came to her mother in a messy state . Her mother who has found a new life and real love with an outlaw biker from a MC that is more than a club and more of a Life. Elden is so much older than her..he is cold and violent and ruthless but for Violet...he is a different guy. Oh my heart the angst was unreal. So unreal. A love that is forbidden but unavoidable. The passion that is raw and explosive and filthy and all kinds of crazy. Elden is the glorious alpha book husband you won't be able to resist. I swear the author has a magic formula that produces an over protective, over possessive, over brooding, over jealous, over dangerous alpha every single time. And Violet is the kind of woman who inspires. Beautiful heart. Beautiful soul. So much fire inside her soft and caring personality. And together, they had a messy, chaotic and epic love story. The suspense was absolutely amazing and I was holding my breath while wiping tears till the end.
Best read series in order as book 1 introduces the heroine of this book, she is the daughter, whose mum fled an abusive husband while the daughter was away in France. Book 1 showed the daughter becoming aware of the abuse but didn't show how she dealt with it.
Age gap, I think 20 years, the heroine is 21. Their relationship is forbidden as she is the step daughter of the Hero in book 1 and the Hero of this book is asked at times to look out for her, on the understanding none of the club men would pursue her.
The Hero and heroine are attracted to each other straight away. They both fight it. The Hero doesn't have a history of being with club girls. After they meet, the Hero invites a woman from outside the club to his room, the heroine sees her leave thinking they've been together, the Hero doesn't correct her as he wants to push her away at this point. The heroine, at a later time, invites her college boyfriend to a Xmas party, she ends up in a 'clinch' secretly with the Hero, so the relationship with the boyfriend ends. They hadn't been intimate yet. Neither have been with anyone else since they laid eyes on each other.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. Push/pull.
Lots of secondary characters for potential other books. HEA.

I am a rabid Anne Malcom fan. I adore her ability to tell an amazing story and usually have zero negative things to say. I am so sad that I can't give this book 5 stars like all her others.
The story of Elden and Violet was okay. Elden is as fantastic to read about as her other male leads. Tragic past, rough exterior, teddy bear core with murderous tendencies when provoked. Violet was a tad too whiney for me, and honestly, the number of times I read the word "patriarchy" became a little bit of overload. We get it, she's a modern feminist but, is it necessary to mention every 5 pages? (*slight exaggeration on my part)
The subplot involving the serial killer felt rushed and not well executed. Sure, it left it open for more details in another book, but it felt like it was added to this book as an afterthought.
Beyond that, this book felt like it was not as well done as Ms Malcom's other books. The amount of grammatical errors was appalling, and the continuity errors were something I've never seen from her before. Is Elden 16 years or "decades" older? Did Colby teach her to shoot, or had she never seen a gun up close?
I was so hyped for this book after Wretched Love. For the first time, an Anne Malcom book left me disappointed. Here's to hoping it was a fluke and not a sign of things to come.
I knew that still waters likely ran deep with Violet, but I was not prepared! I thought Violet was a wonderfully complex character that frequently acted her age (le gasp, lol). She could be bratty and petulant and sometimes completely over compensated for her out of control life. But she was also strong and kind and could be pragmatic. I thought she was wonderfully relatable and her story and her relationship with her mother really pulled my heartstrings. The story is angsty without being overly dramatic, and moves well. While this book could be considered a standalone for the couple, the series does have story arcs that wind between them. This story does end on a series cliffhanger.
This book started off strong, but then it just when downhill. Believe me, I love me some bikers and age gap romance with a surprise pregnancy. This book did not give.
First of all, in this book the clubs businesses and runs are barely addressed. This all bases on the FMC being in school and going back and forth between home and school.
Second, I am all for girl power. But this FMC was all girl whiner. Everything concerning feminism and such felt so force I had to stop reading. It was cringed and awkward.
Third, that whole subplot of the killer? What even was that? It is only really addressed when you get to a lot 80% of the book. Before it was only mentioned in passing.
Overall, everything was like skimmed through. Everything felt forced, I didn’t feel the connection between the characters. I hated Swiss and his controlling nature, I did not like the mom and how judgey she was of the FMC relationship with the MMC.
I HATED SARIAH. SHE WAS PUSHY AND FORCEFUL AND UGH I COULDNT STAND HER.
The title of this book shouldn’t be wilting violets, it gives the impression of a weak, sad little flower, which our Violet is anything but!
Violet is strong, passionate, iron willed, steadfast all the adjectives to describe a badass female, she wouldn’t wilt for anyone… well except maybe a 6 foot something, devastatingly, handsome, bad ass biker! 😉 Elden didn’t try to get Violets attention, but when he saw her she was instantly his. Despite all the reasons he could come up with as to why she shouldn’t be his (the fact he could practically be her fathers age, that she was the stepdaughter of his brother, that her mother would actually rip his arms off him and beat him senseless .. to name a few!) none of that mattered. All that mattered was her.
This book was so good! I love a badass feminist who wants to change the world, loves fiercely, and likes to read fairy smut!
Bonus I just realized there is a book 3 so you can bet I’ll be starting that right now!
Tropes: 🏍️ motorcycle club 🏍️ age gap 🏍️ forbidden romance 🏍️ found family
This book pleasantly surprised me. Don't get me wrong, from the moment I started reading it was good, but then it became GREAT, so while it might take a while to really sink your teeth into, stick with it. Trust me, as usual the author pulls the rug from underneath you when you least expect it. Adored this couple, but it was actually the side plot and the secondary characters that had me madly turning pages. Cannot wait to learn more.
Violet's whole world has shifter and she is completely lost. She thought she had found a terrific boyfriend, had a loving family but it was all shattered within moments of one another. Coming to terms that her father was abusive to her mother has caused a stir inside her that is untamable. The only balm is Elden but he is completely off limits.
Elden wants Violet but it goes against everything in him to go after what he wants. Violet is the stepdaughter to his MC brother Swiss. He should stay away, but every time she needs him he reaches out or is there. He doesn't cross the line, until it becomes to unbearable to stay away. What happens next will have everyone in a tailspin. Trust will be shattered, fences will need mended but what comes next will have everyone questioning who they can trust.
I liked most of this one. I thought it was a bit angsty in the beginning. Once Elden and Violet are out in the open it is quick paced. Definitely will be reading more in this series.
⭐️ 3.75 This book was definitely on the longer side for me—I felt it dragged a little at times. But ohhh the chemistry 👏🔥 I really loved how the characters connected, and that’s what kept me turning the pages. There were a few words/phrases that felt kinda cringe, which pulled me out for a second, but overall it was still a solid, enjoyable read. Not perfect, but I liked it! 💜
Wilting violets is part of The Sons Templar MC books and was exactly what I needed. Elden and Violet's story was one for the books. So beautiful and the story was amazing.
It doesn't happen very often, but sometimes a book comes along and surprises me...and not in a good way. Wilting Violets started strong in the first chapters but then quickly nosedived.
My first issue was the writing. There was a lot of telling and not a lot of showing. I skim read most of the book because I was so uninterested in the characters because we didn't really get to experience much of the relationship development - we were just told what happened. The writing just wasn't what I like in novels, and it skipped out a lot.
Also, Violet is a raging feminist. This is fine. Great. We all love a strong female character, but this was mentioned so much and I ended the novel disliking her character.
Lastly, I stumbled across this author and her books via Tiktok. I've not read the first book but that's fine because it was advertised as a standalone - this felt like misinformation. Almost straight away I noticed relationships which were established in the first novel, and I felt like I wasn't getting all of the information, like I was missing out on stuff. I feel like a little more was needed to truly make this a standalone in a series.
Overall, it was meh. I finished the book, but I can't say I enjoyed it (which kills me to say because of the age-gap/pregnancy trope which I love) but the plot and writing just missed the mark. Will I read the rest of this series? No. Other books from this author? Probably not. I don't often rate below 2 stars because I usually just DNF but I persevered here because of the tropes.
I usually love Anne Malcolm books so I was super disappointed when i found myself forcing myself to continue reading because this book was so boring. If it weren’t for the fact that i loved her other books, i would be asking if she has an editor or not because surely someone, ANYONE, should’ve caught how painfully redundant this book is. The FMC talks in circles and launches into these long spiels about how conflicted she is about something or how she feels about a character- which would be great if it weren’t for the fact that she had those exact same thoughts TEN PAGES AGO. It’s almost like anne forgot what she had already written many many times and just rewrote it in slightly different words. That’s the only conclusion i can come to because there’s no way she wrote it like that purposely.
The FMC is also dreadfully stereotypical “f you feminist” and the amount of times that is emphasized is almost irritating. Like we don’t need to hear about how “feminist core” the decor of her house is 10 times. It’s just not necessary. it’s also not sexist for a man to give you his jacket to cover up in LITERAL JAIL on a cold october day. This is also a FMC who spends 70% of the book internalizing “i want him but we can’t” in a nauseating and incredibly frustrating fashion. the MMC lacks depth honestly and seems to have the personality of cardboard. his backstory was very rushed and lacked dimension and just made him feel even more incomplete as a character. It’s so frustrating. I’m 52% of the way in and i literally cannot bring myself to finish because of the writing style :(
I was excited to read Violet's story after the cliffhanger in book 1.
Sadly I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first.. There was a LOT more telling than showing, which made this seem like hearing gossip rather than seeing it unfold. It was a slow start setting the background to how they started before the pregnancy reveal from book 1.
I could've enjoyed it more except I didn't really like how Violet handled things and I thought she was whiny. Add that to not actually having any progress in the story until about 59% it was a struggle.
There was BARELY any action.. and what little there was (the attack) was brushed away quickly. I mean the serial killer they were talking about since book 1.. that Violet and Sariah investigated was solved off page. We didn't even know what happened until Elden's epilogue set two years in the future. It was disappointing for all that buildup, just for Elden to say; {this person} was the serial killer we didn't see that coming, here's his backstory, oh and of course we killed him.
Add that to the fact that nearly every intimate scene was a fade to black, I was not impressed. The first book was loaded with intimate scenes, but besides oral.. I don't remember any in detail.
I will not be reading Sariah's story, because this one was a disappointment for me.
Tropes: - forbidden love - mc romance - age gap (16/17yrs) ~ 35 & 18 - best friend’s stepdaughter - surprise pregnancy - long distance relationship - slight suspense
POV: first person - dual (majority is heroine)
Type: interconnected stand-alone (book two)
Everything I wasn’t a fan of:
Heroine walks up to his bedroom right when a woman exits clearly having been with the hero. Hero spews cold shit to get the heroine to “hate” him (clique shit). Later on he said he didn’t fuck her but he still never apologized for all the cruel shit he said at the time.
She would get drunk and basically plead for him to stop avoiding her.
Way too much inner dialogue explaining the story rather than feeling as if we were in the moment these things took place.
There was a scene that just wasn’t my vibe (i don’t like cheaters) *heroine cheats on her “kind of boyfriend” and very obviously doesn’t care for his feelings ⬇️
“it was clear that we had just had sex down the hall from my mother, her husband, my baby brother and my whole new family. Oh, and my kind of boyfriend I’d brought home. And I didn’t feel guilty. Not even a little. It … excited me.”
I tried my hardest to like Violet and I failed. She was incredibly selfish and never once dealt with her grief, she only ever took it out on Elden. Yeah, two stars.
It's not but seriously. What a talented human she is.
So granted I'm in the depths of emotional despair being at the start of my period and having covid. The world is fucking cruel right? So, with that being said, no I am not emotionally stable enough for the emotions Anne smothers me in with every single book of hers and yes, I had to hold on a little tighter to my crazy because lord knows I'm already on that train, HARD. BUT! The depth of it all though. goddamn it. Wilting Violets slayed.
I am not going to be one of those condescending people who says it's all about age. Whilst yes, Violet is young, and emotions tend to be higher blah, blah, blah... but and there is a big but here... life experience changes a person. changes your perspective, alters your reactions to things and will define you to a certain extent. So, she's young but I don't think she's immature. I think she deals with certain things better than others, reacts like a normal person to bad shit and has her moments of melt downs like any normal person. Not because of age but because she's a human being whose life was turned upside down and world blown apart. I really loved her character. She's gutsy, independent and stronger than she gave herself credit for. She's loyal, she is brave and supportive to those she loves. Violet had depth. She's relatable and I found myself rooting for her independence and cheering for the badass that she grew into through the story.
Elden... well firstly that name!! gosh I loved it. Elden was the enigma. The quiet brooding man in the corner. He kept to himself, appeared unruffled by anything or anyone. Up until Violet that is. She tested his control in ways the man thought it couldn't be tested. He fought hard sitting on that line of lusting after his club brother's stepdaughter. A teenager to most. A forbidden fruit. A betrayal to his brother and his club. Yet even that would not stop the pull. This man is positively delightful in a way that only a hulking broody biker can be. He's protective, unapologetically overbearing and so damn loving. Like SWOOON worthy kind of loving. Honestly at the beginning I wanted to junk punch him even though I absolutely understood his hesitation. Some things he done made me FURIOUS. But lord I could not stay angry at this man. He was perfection in that imperfectly perfect way.
The tension is insane, and it only became more suffocating with every damn page. They just felt like they were meant to be and honestly there wasn't a point when they finally got together where their relationship didn't feel balanced. I forgot about the age gap and the fact they were forbidden. I forgot about the crazy going on around them. I was just totally consumed in them. In every desperate look, loving touch and absolutely all-consuming emotion between them. They just fit. And factoring in the fact she would go toe to toe with him and he lived for it with his panty melting smirks at her. The sweet, the laughs and even the sad. Everything about them together just felt so fucking right.
Anne always gives us spectacular character development. I adored all the side characters and I love that Anne gives us little nuggets into their future. The chemistry between them all had me laughing like crazy, ranting like a loon and wishing I was a part of this crazy world with these larger-than-life characters.
It was a rollercoaster of tremendous highs and heart-breaking lows. I felt like nothing was overwritten or filled in, it just felt like the story moved naturally and everything hit just right. Once again, I'm in awe of Anne and her talents. This is yet again another fantastic read and everything I needed right now.
Now I desperately need Sariah and Colby's story. I just know that one is going to hurt all kinds of bad and good.
Wilting Violets is the 2nd book in the Sons of Templar MC New Mexico series and again this author gave us another tale that I couldn't put down. After the ending of book one I couldn't wait for this book and I wasn't disappointed. This forbidden/age gap/opposites attract/ MC romance was gripping and highly engrossing and I was hooked from start to finish. This is Elden and Violet's story and the passion, the chemistry, the push and pull between them was intense and will give you all the feels. Then the author added a suspenseful subplot to the story that took it to another level. I loved that we got to catch up with Swiss and Kate and were introduced to other great characters who instantly grabbed my attention. This was another fabulous read from this author and I would highly recommend it.
I love how a book can have me hooked from the very first line and this book did! I love a good age gap and throw in a forbidden mc romance and you’ll have me devouring this book in no time!
Violet and Elden were so perfect together and I loved their relationship. I loved how much he was there for her and how she could rely on him when she never really had that in her life. Violet was so strong and I loved that she was a badass and took what she wanted!
Sariah was the perfect best friend and I honestly which I had her as mine. She was sassy, bold, outgoing and the biggest supporter!
This book had he flipping those pages to see what was happening because we had suspense, a serial killer and hot bikers.
I loved that they got their HEA and can’t wait see what happens next in this series!
I love a strong-willed, feisty FMC, and Violet was just that. She had to reconcile her feelings about the man she thought her father was with the man he really was. It was only then that she could open herself up to be truly loved. She sees Elden for his heart,
I also love an alpha protective MMC, and Elden definitely delivered. This book was full of alpha males. Elden is a complex character. He's gruff, but he has a soft spot for Violet. She's his best friend's daughter, so she's off limits. That doesn't stop him from keeping an eye on the weather in Rhode Island and calling her when it rains because he knows she doesn't like to drive in the rain.
I really like Anne Malcom’s writing style and especially how she writes her male main characters. This book had a great plot twist that I didn’t see coming. The ending was the icing on the cake.
I really enjoyed this book, but not for the same reason I enjoyed the first. For me I enjoyed the plot, Violet, and the glimpses at Swiss and Kate. Oh and Sariah! I couldn’t quite get behind Elden, he wasn’t bad but I just didn’t care about him the same way I did Swiss. I also enjoyed the tease of Sariah and Colby, I can tell that’s going to be a good story!!
Wow, this book was so good! Once I started I couldn’t put it down! I absolutely loved Violet and Elden. This book had it all, romance, suspense, killer, funny moments. I loved how he looked after her. Each book is my new favorite. What are you waiting on, go get it. Now, who’s next…Sariah maybe???
I have been eagerly waiting for Violet's story after the way that Wretched Love ended. I thought I loved that book, but this is worth the wait and much more. Even before the bombshell ending that led to this book, I knew that there would be some severe baggage for Violet and feelings of guilt. I was correct about that assumption and am glad that the author dug deep; showing all the bumps on the log, ugliness and all. I appreciated the care that she gave certain topics because it needs to be seen that women are intelligent and have the right to make decisions. Period. End of.
As usual, this author created characters that were extraordinary. Violet for being so witty and smart. I loved that she was a well-educated person and a fighter for the underdog or those being marginalized. Her beliefs stood out to me because I could relate to her and the things that made her so impassioned. Elden surprised me. This author never fails when it comes to leading men. Yet, Elden did. He was not afraid to get his hands dirty for the club and for Violet. He was also the same man that, despite the fact that he was 1%, didn't behave like them with club bunnies and parties. His softer side and his complete devotion toward his woman were spectacular. He recognized the dichotomy of his lifestyle and Violet's and he because of that managed to balance between wanting to be the MAN and being empathetic to feminism. His loyalty and the way he would drop whatever he is doing in order to make sure that she was okay whether in person or on the phone was so swoony (The rainstorm scene had me with googly eyes).
The author took her time expanding n this by building upon the foundation that started in the first book. Newer characters were introduced that whet the appetite and made me become even more invested in this series. That is how she hooked me with the original Sons series. I look forward to those stories. And, if I hadn't been hooked before the way that she left her audience wanting more details of a certain event that happened towards the end. So many questions about the how/what/why.
I cannot say it enough, Read anything and everything by this author. She is a master wordsmith that takes her readers on a journey and doesn't shy away from shredding their emotions on the journey.
